What can I say...I like these guys. I originally planned to do a Zipcar run with my girl to move all her stuff from her apartment into mine. Then I did the math on the logistics of 2 people without dedicated moving equipment moving stuff down 6 floors of an elevator building to street parking on an area notorious for its lack of parking...factor the possibility of multiple runs and the non-zero chance of a parking violation or 2...all of a sudden hiring movers makes a whole lot of sense for not that much more money. Frankly, I am glad I went with them. They are flat rate, quote decent numbers, and they have 3 guys so it's 2 doing the moves with equipment, and one driving the truck (no worries about getting a ticket even with a commercial plate allowing delivery/dropoffs). They know exactly how to get stuff in and out as quickly as possible. Emptying an apartment takes about 15 minutes, and getting stuff into mine is another 20. The rest is driving and getting the truck parked and unloaded The move started at 9:30a, and by 10:30a we are already done. Well, if I do have a small FYI - it is that if you move into/out of a co-op apartment some supers want to see a certificate of insurance liability - these guys will need you to pay their insurance company for a copy...so ask about it in advance. I had to do some last minute moves to get it from them...but other than that, really...no complaints. I will totally use them again in a heartbeat, and frankly, so should you. read more

Sun Teen Day Movers was recommended to me by a friend when I was looking to schedule a move about a week out from my move-in date. I gave the number a call and the woman on the phone couldn't understand me, as I was in a loud area so she asked me to send her an email instead. From the first email to the date of the move, things couldn't have gone smoother. I was asked to estimate the amount of stuff I'd have to move (from a 1-bedroom in Manhattan to another 1-bedroom in Queens), and she gave me a VERY fair quote, considering I was moving to another borough. In fact, it was the best one I had gotten-- We communicated via email for the next week and on the day of the move, a 3-man crew rolled up in a 22' truck, 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. Two men came up to survey the apartment and to see what they'd have to bring up from the truck, and once they started, they didn't stop and got everything into the truck in an hour and 15 minutes...MAGIC! I was delayed getting into Queens, so if I was able to beat them there, the move would have taken less than the 4.5 hours it actually took. Moving up to my new apartment took about an hour and a half, but they were efficient and never complained. I was afraid that, after the move, they'd charge me more since I had a few more boxes and loose ends than anticipated, but they kept to their word and charged me what they said they would in the initial email. I paid in cash (they 'preferred' it; pretty sure they don't take credit cards) and tipped them nicely for getting everything done so quickly. The only drawback was that one of the movers did not speak English, and the other one assumed that I did, but unfortunately, I didn't (much to the movers' chagrin). If I had, it probably would have been a bit easier, but they were courteous, nice and did what they had to do. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend these guys for your next move- read more

I used these movers in May 2015. They mean well. But we found out the hard way that you must be very explicit with how they handle your stuff. We have a scratched bed, and found one of the movers trying to cover the scratches with a marker. Not only that, but they used a dolly on the new wooden stairs. We had to tell them to stop that and carry the boxes. But it was too late; my landlord landlord became very angry afterwards because the dolly dented the new wood stairs. You will find that they are one of the efficient and cheapest movers in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but you must watch how they pack your things, or it will get scratched. read more

We've moved at least twice and never re-used or even recommended any movers - until now. This was by far the easiest and only stress free move we've experienced. Not one item was damaged, the guys worked to get everything prepped and secured. They came prepared for the stairs and long hallways; made the move so smooth. I booked then about a year ago. This review is past due. I moved from a 1bedroom apt in UES to a 1st floor house in Queens. They broke my side table which had a glass cover, no apologies, no discount. They broke the drawers to my queen size bed... they screwed them in wrong and its a really simple bed. I wasn't watching them because I had to direct the other guys where to place other items. OH and they took over an hour to figure out how to take the bed apart.. my husband eventually said "f*ck it, I'll do it" because it was taking so long. They were careless and bumped lamps against the walls and really just didn't care. They were also 2 hrs late. At the end, they ASKED for tip. Nothing irks me more than ASKING for tip especially when it wasn't deserved. I would never use them or recommend them. read more

I used these movers two weeks ago when we moved and i will tell you one thing DO NOT GO WITH THESE MOVERS If you don't want all of your new furniture ruined and half of your stuff on the side walk. I moved to the house next door to mine its not like i moved to another country. They left half of the boxes out side on the side walk and left so i called my family to help me move the boxes and they came bye the time we finished moving all the boxes it was 3:30 in the morning. So basically i wasted $500 on that company to ruin my new furniture and make me and my family probably lost 10 pounds by moving those heavy boxes with my family. When I say they were amazing! They are AMAZING. I was fearful that my sectional wouldn't fit, and they reassured me it wouldn't, until one of the movers took the feet off, and miraculously discovered that the back, and the arm rest can be removed. And then WALA! The pieces came in the house with ease. They took apart the entertainment center as well and while the others unpacked, the driver began reassembling all of my furniture. They even arrived early, made a stop for me to drop off furniture at a relatives house and made it to my new home. I HIGHLY recommend Chen and the other 2 guys. As with nothing else that can possibly be simple or affordable in NYC I called this company up during my move, spoke to the female rep (I forgot her name Ashley maybe) gave her a rough estimate of my things with her assistance to even remind me of things I forgot. I gave her a time/date and that was it. The guys showed up a few mins (5-10min) late no big deal morning traffic, but called 30 mins prior to let me know. They came in like thieves in the night packed and wrapped that shit up to perfection. I paid exactly what was quoted to me over the phone. You get what you pay for. If you have average "IKEA" type of furniture, then these movers are the right fit. If you have more expensive and delicate furniture, then you are asking for trouble because they might not handle your furniture with care. They rush through everything and unless you babysit them through the process, they will either damage your floor/wall/furniture/stairs... I just moved Memorial Day weekend -- one of the busiest moving weekends -- and was so nervous about finding good movers at a good price for my move from the Financial District to Brooklyn. Tiffany couldn't have been more helpful - she scheduled the move via email, emailed me insurance papers, asked specifics about the furniture we had, then quoted me an excellent price (about half of what we'd been quoted by other moving companies...and no nonsense about visiting my apartment to give an estimate like I heard from a more established company). The rate she quoted was exactly what we were charged at the end - no gimmicks, no games. And they were so, so quick. There were 3 movers - all very polite, professional - and I think the whole thing took maybe 4 hours.They handled our first and basement level brownstone with ease. Happy to take the time to write a positive review for this company. I hired them to move from Hell's Kitchen to UWS. My condo bldg is near Times Sq which means moving is always a disaster. What separated this company from the four other companies I've used in the past, is that they maintained a high level of professionalism despite all the obstacles in our way, and was not taken advantage of when the whole move was completed. Initially, the truck couldn't even get to my apt because a dump truck was spending about 20 minutes clearing trash from the sidewalk which created a huge backup stretching to the east side. After that, the truck had to circle around to find parking because its nearly impossible to find parking during mid-day around Times Sq. The movers remained friendly and professional; never gave me attitude for these problems which were clearly out of my control. This was my main concern at the time because this company bills at a flat rate, not by the hour. Moreover, they were careful with my belongings and didn't just drop them on the ground like I've seen other movers do. Everything that needed to be wrapped was done so. Sun Teen was recommended by a colleague for our move from Staten Island to New Jersey. We had 3 floors of furniture and I was concerned that the move wouldn't get done in a day since other movers suggested a 2 day move. On the move day, 4 men pulled up and it was obvious the truck was too small. I immediately called Tiffany and requested another truck. Well, the 4 men had the first 2 floors emptied in 2 hrs!! I have to mention that several pieces of furniture had to be disassembled and they handled it like PROS! They never stopped for breaks and wrapped everything up. They are kind and courteous. They went to NJ, emptied the truck and drove back to Staten Island to assist the 2nd truck. Real teamwork and they genuinely were invested in making our move go smoothly. The truth of the matter is, this is absolutely the worst moving company ever. You would be far better served by hiring your youngest cousin to take his red wagon and move your things at his own leisure. I watched them unpack one truck by taking a dolly to move one regular packing box at a time using an incredibly slow and loud lift on the back of the truck. I have never before seen a more inefficient move done ever. They are also very dishonest about the time it takes to do the move. Everytime you ask them for an update they say 'o 10 more minutes' or 'sorry, just 20 more minutes' when it took 16 (SIXTEEN) hrs for a 2 MAYBE 3 hour move. I hate to see people just rob hard working people of their money. I am heading from this review to the better business bureau because someone has to be dedicated to making sure they never rob another person. read more

We had a great experience with sun teen movers. Tiffany was very responsive from our very first call to the office and with only three days notice before our move date. Our move involved moving our stuff from a storage facility in westchester and from our current apartment in NYC and moving it to our new apartment in NYC. The crew was very careful with wrapping everything and loaded and unloaded quickly while still being careful. Nothing was broken or lost along the way! A very fair flat rate was quoted and they stuck to the quoted price unlike a lot of other movers that will try and change the price if you have a few boxes more than you estimated. Tiffany thought it would take 6-7 hours for the whole move and they finished in a little less than 6 hours - right on target! We would definitely use sun teen again and recommend them. I moved with my husband yesterday from a 1BR to a 2BR apartment on the West side of Manhattan. Sun Teen Day Movers were highly recommend from a colleague of my husband's. We have worked with many different moving companies over the years and by far and away the movers at Sun Teen Day were the best. They are professional, efficient and careful. They arrived promptly at 9am and immediately got to work- carefully wrapping items, carefully handling boxes, packing wardrobe closets as well as our wall art (all included). In terms of pricing, we compared about 7 different moving companies in Manhattan and all were a little more expensive to much more expensive. So Sun Teen was very competitively and better priced than most. Additionally, the charge they provided was not pending the number of hours worked- it was until the job was completed. We had a lot of boxes, framed art and furniture in our 1BR but they efficiently cleared everything out of the apartment by noon. The unpacking process at the new apartment was just as great- they unwrapped everything and placed it where we wanted. I have unpacked my many fragile boxes and everything is in good shape. I would 100% go with these movers again and will recommend them to anyone who asks. One thing to note- they do not accept credit card, which is important to know ahead of time.
