New Paltz, NY - great sandwiches that hit the spot! We picked up a few on our way to the Mohonk Preserve, and ordered a Cubano (I'm told a customer favorite), Italian combo, trifecta combo, and muffuletta, which could've been more olive-y but you don't commonly find this New Orleans staple around these parts so I was glad to see it on the menu. This is mostly a takeout joint though there are a few counter seats. You can also purchase jars of Frank's own house-made pickled goods, preserves, and bottles of hot sauces in the store. I haven't tried those but hear they're good so will pick up some next time. read more

I love this place! The staff are always so nice and friendly, the sandwiches come out quick and are very filling. The place is so cute with 7 seats at a bar facing the window (meaning a table that's higher than a table) and a bench with table in the back. Definitely recommend!!! I got Tom's pesto and there plenty of meat, not a huge amount of the greens as filler and two slices of fresh mozzarella, with homemade pesto. So glad this place is here. No need to drive to POK. The panini are fresh, delicious and tasty!! I got some chicken salads. This could be hit or miss, a lot of times with too much mayo or not enough seasoning. This was spot on. Pickles are lovely and crispy. We walked in with no one there and all before 1130 the place was packed w regulars. By 11:50 all of our food was wolfed down. Insert happy babies and happy mom. Thanks for the advice, patience in choosing breads, and a FAST, convenient, lovely and easy lunchtime fix. Would Definitely recommend and return. This is such a great sandwich shop! I typically go with the Cubano, but every other sandwich I've tried on the menu is great. The sides in the display counter are also wonderful. Our experience at Franks Fresh Pickling was HORRENDOUS. Upon arrival we were bullied and talked down to as customers. My friend mispronounced the sandwich name and the employee mocked her to her face and left to go to the bathroom...when our sandwiches were "ready", he made fun of the way she said it again and then we were only given once sandwich. When we told the larger older man working that we had another sandwich he responded with "You need to speak up." We left the establishment already irritated with the lack of respect from the employees. For the finale, our sandwiches were made wrong??? I don't know how that is possible after the countless altercations we had previously but Frank the owner should fire the rude larger man because his sandwich making skills are MID. read more

Excellent sandwiches and pickled items. The Cubano is my favorite (they really nail the combo of meat and cheese and pickles and condiments and then perfectly grill it on the panini press), but every sandwich has been great. If you really want to taste what Frank's is all about, make sure your sandwich choice has pickles or pickled onions! While your sandwich is being prepared, have a look at the jars of pickles and sauces and jams. My favorite are the Marinated Sweet Bells (watch out for the cloves!). The bread and butter pickles are wonderful too. If you like to try new things, the pickled radishes smell funky but are delicious on a sandwich. My only unsuccessful purchase was a hot pineapple habanero sauce and it was unsuccessful not because of the quality of the sauce but because of my own lack of fortitude! I still may give the pickled jalapeños a chance some day, though, if I'm feeling brave. read more

Awful experience! I walked in ordered a cheese sandwich. The guy was so rude and unfortunately unprofessional. He made my sandwich never put gloves on and answered the phone. He seemed like he was coming down from a high or was high "coke high" couldn't stop sniffing snot. I asked if he put cheese on my sandwich he was like nope. Then he went to take off the gloves and said oh I'm not wearing gloves. I paid 9.00 for cherry peppers lettuce and tomato. Sad because it's a super cute place. First encountered Frank's Fresh Pickles the day after I moved to New Paltz a week ago. A friend introduced me to it as a "go to." I was skeptical. I'm from Astoria, NY, I grew up a bit of a deli snob. I mean, we know "good deli" in Queens! But I stopped in another day and asked one of the guys making these awesome sandwiches) l aaked one he liked best. He said, "The Julio!" (named after himself I later learned!) And I was blown away! No pics because I wasn't anticipating doing a review but the AE Phi panini deserves some recognition. It's a turkey panini with pesto, mozzarella, spinach, and tomato. That really hit the spot. My friend and I both agreed that it was delicious because we ordered the same thing. We were pretty relieved to find this place after walking down main street in search of some lunch.
