I'm trying not to lose my enthusiasm for five guys. The staff is really pleasant, but they've made some changes that are not for the best. For example, it's been a dog age since I've had one of their chocolate shakes, which used to be made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream. When I asked the cashier if it's still made with Häagen-Dazs, she wasn't sure and neither was one of the other people who works there. I'm guessing Häagen-Dazs is out which is quite unfortunate. So this shake tasted very syrupy. I guess it's now vanilla ice cream with lots of chocolate syrup. Like I said, unfortunate change. As far as the burger, it was delicious and quite hearty. The little burger is really big so if you don't have a big appetite, go with the little burger. In fact, even if you have a moderately big appetite, you might be satisfied with the little burger The french fries were a total disappointment today. They were soggy and greasy. Not at all what I'm used to from five guys. It must've just been an off night. Will these changes keep me away from five guys? Food is always excellent and freshly prepared. Service is great and extremely fast. Even if there is a line to order it's fast! It's definitely pricier than a fast food place but it's worth the extra price. I love they don't charge extra for any of the toppings. The peanuts are back and always appreciated. My son loves the crazy drinks he can make at their soda machine. The store is clean and very nicely spaced tables. Bathrooms are clean and handicapped accessible too. read more

I've had Five Guys when I lived in Delaware. The food was good, but expensive for fast food. Despite all they do with "fresh potatoes and beef", they still only offer nasty American Cheese. Why does Cheddar elude them? So now I'm in NY and craving a burger, I hit this location and got two Bacon Cheese (not cheddar) burgers, large fries, and a pathetic Vanilla shake. With five people working, it was slow and somehow so much more expensive. $40 for two burgers, 1 large fries, 1sad milkshake. I was so offended when $40 of sad "food" on the register with an ask for tip. WTF!?!? When I got home I was not done with fries but they were done with me. I never had such a nasty vomit from just fries. My other tried the burger while I bent over a bucket. Needless to say, everything else went to the trash. I recommend you never experience this place as the $40 didn't cover the lost day of returning the "food" to toilet. AVOID!!!! read more

The burger was tasty although it kept sliding apart. I'm not really a fan of potatoes cooked in peanut oil, but if you like that flavor, they were good. The milkshake was delicious. The food took time to prepare which is to be expected since they are making it to your specifications. The space between tables is close, so it can be noisy if it is even half full. it is must be the peanut oil in the air from their fryer but I cannot handle sitting in here. I get my food and go. The food is usually pretty good, but way overpriced. The last bacon cheeseburger I ordered was dripping grease out everywhere thru the bag and then on me in my car. It wasn't wrapped right. The soda fountain machines are not cleaned enough during the day if at all. One of the touchscreen displays had brown smeared gunk on the "touch" button to dispense your soda. Looked like feces. GROSS! I never seen anyone cleaning tables, floor or the soda and condiments section anytime I've been in this location, unlike the newburgh and other locations, I've seen them cleaning often. Every time I've eaten at this location, my stomach hurts after. I don't feel that way when I've eaten at five guys at any other location before. I unfortunately won't be back again here. read more

You can't beat coming to Five Guys with the many tasty choices to choose from. With that said, this is the second time making this stop, with the other being at a different location. We only opted for their milkshake on this visit, and the procedure wasn't too hard to follow. Simply just order, ......... for here or to go, and then the receipt will print with a number. It only took about a couple of minutes for the drink to be ready, and one sip, oh boy, so tasty. I think I discovered a new fav in my books. I enjoy Five Guys, but something I think they need to seriously address, which they do, but to the point where they need to stress it, 100% peanut oil in fries. They even have peanuts in boxes which could make it worse for those who expose the peanut trace in the air, only if it's a severe allergy. For those with that, you're out of luck. Like most people in the east I've got a few Five Guys locations near me but I haven't been to one in several years (who knew they recently copied the milkshake idea from the other burger places like Jake's that have been doing it for years). Why you might ask? It blows my mind that they still offer so little in terms of customization. I mean sure you can get various toppings on your burger but so many other places offer different types of buns, various cheese types or even different types of burger meat. I mean Fuddruckers figured that stuff out thirty years ago. Hell, I would be happy if you could just ask any Five Guys location to not salt the living daylights out of the fries. When I asked that at my local Five Guys a few years ago I was told it was "corporate policy to apply this much salt" just like when I asked for no or low salt at this location I was told that they had no ability to do that. The basic run thru was that it was Saturday night right before eight and the place was fairly busy. The order process was the same as I had remembered it even though it was funny that the person working the register kept calling out the number of patties on each order because no one behind her was responding with the usual Stepfordian "Got It" but I digress. Considering how busy it was everything took about ten minutes which is a time frame that I can certainly live with. As for the food, the fries as mentioned prior I would have liked them more without the pounding of salt that they took but I was told that to get them without salt was not possible so what can you do? Burger #1 was a little bacon cheeseburger with BBQ sauce. The good part was that the bacon was very crispy but the bad part was that even though I asked for extra BBQ sauce I guess like getting salt free fries they just can't do it because the burger barely had a dollop of sauce on it. Burger #2 was another little bacon cheeseburger with a bunch of different things on it. This one was much better in terms of everything being done as requested. While I know that most people loooove Five Guys the chain really does nothing for me. I think it's all overpriced for what you get. The burgers are greasy, the fries are over salted and for how much BS they post on their website about choices they really don't offer very many. In reality there is only one bun, one type of cheese, one type of burger cooked one way and the fries only come one way, doused in salt. This Five Guys is normally pretty good, but what's the point of offering Curbside ordering if you don't even pick up the phone? It's really frustrating that there are signs up everywhere saying to call if you placed a curbside order, but when you dial the number it just rings and rings while you can see all of the employees inside standing around. It defeats the purpose of curbside when you have to get up and go in anyways. Also, the past couple of times we have ordered online it seems like they don't start the food until you get there anyways because you still end up having to wait so long even when it's not busy. When you combine that with the fact it takes them extra time to realize you're there because you have to call them multiple times and then eventually go in, it gets really frustrating. I ordered a little Cajun fry but when I got home realized they didn't give me Cajun fries but just normal fries! The burger was excellent as always. Since they couldn't give me the Cajun fries I ordered their score is lowered! I'm not saying don't go here but make sure you watch them make your burger and fries! One thing I expect from Five Guys is consistency, and that's a good thing. In fact, I think Five Guys is probably one of the most consistent chains of them all. So on my first visit back to this particular Five Guys in over 6 years, I expected things to be about the same - and I was right, and that's a good thing too. The burgers are still the same, i.e., smallish patties combined for "larger burger" options. And while their fries are no longer my favorites in the area (that belongs to Matchbox Cafe in Rhinebeck), their fries are still consistently good and plentiful, even for their "little" size (which still overflows out of the cup and into the bag, dwarfing the burger. Service was very fast, but I think that was it wasn't super-busy, even at lunchtime. I don't think that's a reflection of the business here. I think it's a reflection of the growing number of burger joints in the area, which means more competition. And THAT'S a good thing too - may the best burger(s) win! read more

I've been to quite a few 5 Guys up and down the east coast because they are pretty consistent and reliable. This location doesn't seem to be handling the pandemic reopening well. The food was good as usual. You could sit inside maskless 6 feet apart and use the soda dispenser but they were handing out ketchup packets like you were at Macdonalds instead of the pump and cup system. There were bags of peanuts but Nono were opened so I asked for some and was told that they weren't allowed to give them out yet. Hmmm same price for food but no free peanuts. Staff not any friendlier then any other fast food place. Kid calling order numbers seemed annoyed and yelling at people for not coming up fast enough and not happy callers like in the past. Heard much about 5 guys and have never tried it, so we finally did. Sorry to say was somewhat disappointed overall. Was looking forward to lettuce, tomato and pickle. Got pickles, a few scraps of lettuce and no tomato. Just two burger patties on a crushed roll. Both burgers in the bottom of a bag that had soggy french fries dumped all over the top of the burgers. Now had this greasy bag, had to sift through the fries to get to the burgers. The best description of the burgers would be "slop" with not much taste. Never disappoints! I was so busy at work that I did not eat lunch and I was starving! I walked in and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with small fries. While I was in there, I was offered a free sample of their strawberry shakes. Yikes! I should have ordered something smaller and left room for dessert! That strawberry shake was delicious! There were still small bits and pieces of real strawberries and it was not over powering sweet. It was just perfect! Next time you are in there, check it out! I know I will! After previously trying out Five Guys in the city, I had to see if their newer location up here in Dutchess County was up to snuff. It was. Actually, this location is a lot cleaner and spacious than most of the NYC locations, and that's always nice. The food was just as good: here are some words from my previous review of one of the NYC Five Guys: "The meat was fairly light, cooked just right, and still juicy. The fries were larger than the usual fast food shoe-string type, and were not too crispy, not too flimsy, but right in the middle. Still a bit greasy, but that's expected. The free peanuts are a nice touch, too" Same applies here. The only problem, for me, is that I made the mistake of ordering the big 2 patty burger when I really should've settled for the smaller version. I'm getting old and can't handle giant burgers and huge portions of fries anymore, sadly. Even the smaller size of fries is too much food for me. As I began to order my burgers, I was impressed at the selection of toppings, but the I felt the steam coming off of the lady with the 4 kids behind me as I was choosing my toppings. I have to say, this is by far one of the best burgers around. I first tried this place back when it opened in 2009, and after trying it last month, I am happy to say that it is still delicious as ever. We came on a week night, freezing as can be outside, and WOW - was it packed! [I didn't expect that]. Their burgers are just beyond delicious - well made, toppings are really great [love that you can add what you want without cost - try doing that at Red Robin next door!], and the fries are very delicious. I really enjoyed the cajun fries - a bit salty, so be warned. I really highly recommend having a milkshake. You can also customize it to your every heart's desire. I had a chocolate milkshake with cherries (those beautiful, big fat black cherries), and it was one of the best milkshakes I ever had. I love this place, but for my diet, I don't go very often. My favorite burgers in town, you can't do better for price vs quality, definitely. The fries are pretty bad though. Always over cooked or under cooked, soggy or crunchy. There is no consistency, so I just gave up on getting fries. And considering it says 'burgers and fries' the fact that the fries are garbage heavily weighted my rating against them. Five guys offers a consistantly good burger. I've visited a few of their locations now and I've never had a bad experience. This particular location is in a little bit of an odd location, it's on the ground floor of an office building, it feels a little cramped inside. It was pretty busy on the day we visited so that might have contributed. Seems to be a popular destination for the college kids in the area.
