Worst experience ever. $18 for fish that was likely left over from the day before and refried. I'm not picky at all and it was inedible. Fish tacos for $15 served with plain white rice and shredded cabbage- had to ask for salsa. Sour cream was hot and tasted spoiled. Fried oysters which were more fried that oysters. Children's grilled cheese for $6 asked for a side of mac and cheese, which menu said was $1 but charged for an additional kids meal. We were the only ones in the restaurant other than the severs friends at the bar. She was so consumed with them, dancing, talking and laughing, that we were completely neglected. The host ended up being the one to attend to us. For $100 bucks I couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed the food; however, the service is absolutely horrible! Our waitress showed up to the table and was rude, she was downright disrespectful to my father because he is deaf. She took our order then never came back to see if we needed refills or anything prior to the meal, after food came, or as we were finishing up. She never asked if the food was satisfactory and then she disappeared into the back, not to be seen again...not even for the check. We had to ask the bartender for the check. The food was good but the server killed it for us. Unfortunately we will not be back. My family and I were treated poorly and rudely by our server the moment we sat down at the table. He also was MIA for long periods of time. Our drinks were empty for long periods of time and there was only 3 other tables in the restaurant at the time. Just an FYI that They don't separate checks. Ok experience. Food is average bar food at best. The service was pretty good, especially for our group of 20. Initially they separated our group and seated us at 2 tables, one that they put 6 people at, which was meant for 4. Not ideal, especially since both areas where cramped. I felt like I was on top of the people next kt me the way the seating is set up, and I couldn't hear my parents sitting right next to me. We were staying within walking distance of Sundogs while in North Carolina so we ended up there a lot...which makes this a slightly biased review. Day one I went there for oysters and beers. We also had crab dip. All the food was excellent, the beer was just as the bar tender described, and the oysters were very fresh. Day two the group stopped by because we thought there was karaoke...there wasn't but was a live band. The rest of the group thought it sounded like noise but I, who enjoy all music so stayed and enjoyed it. Day three we came back for karaoke. DJ Face was excellent and everyone was having a great time. Again excellent beer and service. Day four we finished there as we were headed back to NY. DJ Face was there but had a different DJ working for him. He was very good. Primarily electronic which but DJ Face had him spin a few hiphop beats for us. This mismatched, mall bar and grill looked more like a last chance tourist trap. We discovered it on a karaoke quest earlier in the week. Karaoke great, crowd size nice and the mc was sweet. Still was not inspired to give it a try. We rolled in anyway and the staff was cool and the menu was deep. It had your easy go tos and some more serious fare. I started with the potato skins which had real bacon, a little sparse but very good. I had the burger that nailed medium rare and was what I was looking for. The rest of the party of 6 really liked their meals. So this place is legit and the atmosphere is relaxed and fitting for the beach. So check it out and you will be pleased. read more

I have been her 45 minutes. Me and my friend were served warm beer and watered down drinks. The couple next to us waited 35 minutes for their check! At 9:00 we were told it was late night menu.....basically discouraging us to order food. WOW! Considering place was almost full from Music Festival! I asked to see shrimp on. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. The customer service is top notch. They sat us even though the kitchen had just closed. The food was great! Cole slaw, pulled pork, shrimp, and craw dads... Yummmm! I would definitely return here the next time we visit OBX... My friends and I were in town visiting from NJ and we went out for a few drinks on our last night of vacation (for the record we are all mid 20's and grown working adults, who are completely disconnected with the "Jersey Shore" stereotype). We got there around 9 for some drinks before the band started. Our bartender (Becks?) was super hospitable and welcoming! We were all having a great time until the owner Fred walked by and was bothered at the fact that we didn't acknowledge/address him? We're visitors from out of town, how were we supposed to know who he was? He made a comment to my friend about how we were trashy and kicked some of us out-mind you we were dressed the nicest out of any of the locals at the bar. A couple of the local girls were running around drinking and dancing with no shoes, on which is completely unsanitary. We were completely appalled at the fact that Fred would allow the locals to carry on like this when we were by no means participating. When my one friend asked to slip in to tell the others in our group that our ride was here, Fred wouldn't cut her a break. Our large group of friends easily spent the most money there, and it's sad that when we come back next summer they will miss out on our future business. It's a shame the place is ran by such a judge mental and self centered guy. On the other hand the rest of the locals were really great company and seemed to enjoy our conversations! read more

When you walk into Sundogs you smell the seafood. I would recommend having the shelled shrimp. You get your meal in about 15 minutes. 1 thing I didn't like about this restaurant is the bathroom doors don't go all the way to the locks. The waiters are very nice. Another thing I like about the area of shops sundogs is in, is that it is a dog friendly area. I find the service nice. The food is the best quality of this restaurant. I think that all seafood is wonderful but I like shrimp the best. And my experience going to sundogs was absolutely wonderful it was the best restaurant that I went to, that was beside the shore. Décor When you walk in, to your right is some tables and the bathrooms. To your left is the: High tables, Window seats, the counter, TV's, and the back door. Just went in with a party of 6 with a baby (who would've gotten something off the kids menu) and although they had a table open for probably 8-10 our party of 7 was told we'd need to be split up if we wanted to eat there!!! We ate here twice during a long weekend, once for lunch and once for dinner. The crap dip is awesome! The fries are seasoned just right to have lots of flavor without being overpowering. We were all really pleased with our meals, trying the crab cake, burger, pulled pork, salad, and a few other items. The only down point we had were that there was too much bread in the roll for burger/crab cake sandwich/pulled pork sandwich, esily rectified by just having half the bun. The buns weren't fantastic, but with just half it was fine. Also the salsa kinda sucks so don't bother with chips and salsa as an appetizer. We went here for my birthday with eight friends. Seven of us had normal meals while two took on the Sundogs Challenge. Due to the challenge being an overcooked burger and 3-4 helpings of chili cheese fries, neither of them won. My crab cakes were delicious. Their tater tots were tasty but their mac and cheese was not. Most importantly, the service was horrible. I think the $1 cans of PBR were the highlight of the night. If being ignored and unattended to is your idea of a great bar/restaurant experience, then this place is for you! Unlike many of the other disgruntled reviewers on this page, we ended up walking out. Hubby don't do bad service. Also we are accomplished bar flies from way back, and we do not have over-inflated expectations as other reviewers have suggested of some patrons. Sundogs gets one star because this was post-hurricane and yet they still attempted to conduct 'business' as usual. It was an off-season weekend and Corolla was without electricity the day prior. There was absolutely nothing else open. Even the Food Lion was closed. So we walked in and this place was packed with mostly locals; by our account there were only 2 or 3 servers, 1 bartender and no hostess. The servers looked frazzled and didn't make eye contact let alone communicate with us. We got the message. We drove the mile back to our house to eat our own food, which gets 5 stars because we're really good with food prep. And we hung out with our Corolla neighbors, who also get 5 stars because of being friendly and attentive. Which we can't say for Sundogs. read more

How can I not review Sundogs? OBX has become one of my very favorite places. When I think of it, one of the places I think of is Sundogs. Food is overpriced and not great, but not bad either. The atmosphere is ok, lots of TVs. The crowd varies at different times of the day and obviously with seasons. I've been here several times, but never stayed for more than a couple drinks and maybe a bit to eat, but I have such a soft spot for this place. You gotta stop in the next time you're in the OBX. read more

It was a medioacre typical lunch menu. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries, an individual cheese pizza, buffalo chicken wrap, and a caesar salad with four sodas. They weren't awful nor spectacular. With the items above and it being in Corolla, my bill was an astounding $50 plus dollars. Crazy! I was better off going to Subways! It started when we walked into the door and the hostess was so quiet you couldn't hear anything she was saying, even though hostesses are supposed to be bright and jovial and make you happy to be there. The first guy came up to us and got our drink orders and then we waited 20 minutes for them to take our food orders. Then 30 minutes later we're got our food and refills from someone different. The food was pretty awful and all tasted like frozen stuff from the grocery store. We had 3 different servers and they all practically ignored us and paid was more attention to other tables who seemed to be their friends. Dinner for 2 was over $50 and it was the worst $50 I've ever spent. If you're visiting Corolla, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.... ANYWHERE ELSE. read more
