I had my initial eyeliner appointment with Emi on 5/24 and my complimentary touch-up on 7/12. She made me feel comfortable the whole time. She took her time and really paid attention to making sure both eyes looked even since one of mine naturally droops a little. I was especially happy with her attention to detail because I was honestly really nervous going into it. After everything healed, I realized I wanted my wing to be a little darker and more noticeable. I brought in photos of my everyday eyeliner to my touch-up appointment, and she completely understood what I was trying to explain. I had been searching for a great lip blush artist for a long time. I've never had much natural color in my lips or even healthy-looking lip skin, and as I've gotten older, the aging became more noticeable. I wanted lip blush not only to restore color, but also to get a bit of my lip shape back. (Fun fact I learned: many of us actually have about 1mm of lip skin above our lip line, even if it blends with our skin tone!) I had seen Emi's work before while researching lip blush and was already a fan, so when I found her Yelp page, I hoped it was the same Emi--and I was so lucky that it was! She even had a Saturday spot available, and her pricing was very reasonable. Emi works out of Salon Republic in Hermosa Beach. From the moment I walked in, the space felt welcoming and comfortable. She even offered a blanket and asked for music request, which set such a nice tone. After filling out the forms, Emi took the time to really talk through my goals. I didn't have many reference photos, but she walked me through her wide selection of colors and explained the differences in shapes and lip design. Once she mapped out the outline, I looked in the mirror and was honestly beyond thrilled--it was even better than what I had imagined. After applying the numbing cream, Emi carefully explained aftercare and what to expect during healing. The actual session was nearly painless (maybe a 1 on a scale of 10), and she worked with such precision and attention to detail. About an hour and a half later, my lips were complete--and I was blown away by the results. Not only is my lip color beautifully enhanced, but my lip line is more defined and the shape turned out even better than what I had envisioned. Emi is truly an artist. Work with the BEST. Emi is a perfectionist whose expertise, kindness, thoroughness, and communication put me at ease. This was my first time getting permanent makeup done and I was nervous. I wasn't sure what shape I wanted for my brows or which approach (microblading vs. nano brows vs. powder). Emi's prep materials were helpful, and her measuring and designing of my brows and generous sharing of pros/cons of different procedures (alongside video examples) was amazing. She does a great job of educating her clients and helping us make the best decision for our needs. Since my skin is more combination than oily, she recommended nano brows and then we added a little bit of powder so that the hair stroke lines from the nano brows could still be seen, but the powder gave my brows a slightly more makeup-filled in look that I really like.
