    Mango and durian mochi
    C. H.

We ordered a durian and a mango mochi for dessert to finish off our meal at the mall's food court. They were made fresh to order and were quite delicious. Mochi texture was pillowy soft. There was a decent amount of fruit filling for the price (~$4 each).

i was curious to check out this spot at the aberdeen food court. when i visited around 5:50 pm on a monday, it wasn't busy at all. i decided to try the mango mochi, which was made fresh on the spot. since it was freshly prepared, it was still at room temperature and probably could have benefited from some chilling. the mango mochi cost $3.25 each. the mango mochi were small, easily finished in two bites. inside, there were chunks of mango along with a creamy filling that seemed like it could have been whipped cream, evaporated milk, or possibly condensed milk. the chewy exterior of the mochi combined with the creamy mango filling made for a tasty treat. however, the mochi did stick to the parchment paper and even melted a bit, which made it tricky to pick up and a bit messy to eat. even with that small issue, the fresh, flavourful mango filling made it worth trying. the contrast between the soft, slightly chewy mochi and the creamy, sweet filling was enjoyable. this place also offers other treats like durian mochi, coconut milk sago, and baked sago pudding with black sesame. the mango mochi stands out for its freshness and the made-to-order approach, even though it requires a bit of patience and careful handling to avoid sticking. there was a steady line up that formed quickly after. i've tried making mango mochi at home before, but based on my experience, i think i'll leave it to the professionals from now on.
