Very experienced licensed electrician. Installed two outlets, and moved a wall fixture. Did a neat job. I'm a satisfied customer.

I reached out to several companies for solar and battery quotes since I'll be under NEM 3.0, and it…read morejust made sense to include batteries as part of the system. Out of all the companies I contacted, San Diego Solar Install offered the best overall solar + battery package for the price. I initially reached out through their website and received a prompt response from Bruce, the owner. He's extremely personable, takes the time to answer every question, and genuinely addresses any concerns. He's one of the rare solar professionals who truly cares about his customers rather than just making a sale. Chad, Ian, and the rest of the installation team did a meticulous job installing both the solar panels and batteries, all within a tight timeline. The quality of their work really shows--see the attached photos for yourself. As I'm writing this at night, my home is running entirely off the Enphase batteries with zero power being pulled from the grid, which really highlights how well the system is performing. The other Yelp reviews definitely don't lie!

We found Bruce here on Yelp and got a bid from him and a couple other companies…read more When he met my wife and I at our house to go over the quote, he explained everything very well and answered all our questions. He knows his stuff and even used to teach college courses on solar back in the day. Another company had a rep come over and she didn't know jack about solar - she was mainly a realtor doing it as another income source. He gave both of us a great feeling and was competitively priced. We liked that he keeps things simple and just installs the best, didn't try to upsell us when he could've, and wasn't "salesy" or high-pressure. Glad we hired him. We've had the solar for months and still happy.

Update: If any issues come up with Sunrun, it may take elevating to their management chain, but…read moreSunrun ultimately does the right thing. Gemini AI helped me get an email contact up the chain at sunrun who I wrote a polite email to describing the problem below. I got a phone call in less than 30 minutes from a really nice woman saying she's a Solutions Expert from Sunrun and is giving me a full refund of my leasing fees for the days the system was completely down for no fault of my own. I requested they also update training for their support team to avoid this for people with equipment down more than a few days once the cause is known and no fault of the homeowner. Original review: Their equipment is too prone to failure and they don't fix it in a timely manner and stick you with all the electric costs while it's down AND still charge you for leasing fees even while totally worthless/down. You are stuck in a bad 30 year contract. More details if desired: Equipment went completely down on me after only 3 years on a brand new house, it took them way too long to fix (2 1/2 months) and they would not reemburse me for their leasing fees during the time it was down and I incurred SDGE electric costs far more than the leasing fees I asked to be reembursed very reasonable request. I've heard these system failures of the sunrun boxes in the garage are common. Sunrun contracts with worthless "guarantees" that are only reviewed every 2 years/not when there's a problem and production levels guaranteed over each 2 year period are way too low leaving you to pay for outages their fault. Sunrun phone and online chat would not do anything for me other than to point to above worthless contract clause and I couldnt get them to elevate my case up the management chain. I want to be fair to other solar companies in I'm not making a call on since depends on diff factors; but before you buy solar from any company, just be sure to get a quote for cleaning the panels every year to keep them producing what they should and understand latest laws on how much of the solar you're paying for goes to you vs the electric company unless you also buy a battery to store it for thousands of dollars.

Very disappointed with Sunrun. After the solar installation, we had our roof inspected, and the…read moreinspector confirmed that the installation crew caused extensive damage throughout the roof, including cracked and missing tiles. We were informed the damage is severe enough that we may now need an entirely new roof. To make matters worse, Sunrun has not been willing to properly help resolve the situation and has been giving us the runaround instead of taking responsibility. A solar installation should not leave homeowners dealing with major roof damage and expensive repairs.
