Because I didn't purchase a performance guarantee package I'm expected to absorb all the cost despite these delays being entirely on the company side. It's clear the company is aware of these issues yet chooses not to address them. I find it unacceptable that they continue to operate this way, charging customers for services they fail to deliver.

He offered to reimburse me for this experience and I respect that. He looked into the issue and he took accountability and that's not common. So I really appreciate how this situation was handled. I will still warn everyone to always get a second opinion and be careful out there. I will be giving them another chance as long as this situation never happens again.

Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. We had been quoted anywhere between $5,000-$15,000 to replace our sliding patio doors with French…read moredoors. Our garage is detached, so we could not lock our old patio doors, meaning if we wanted to use our garage, we either had to leave the house unlocked or walk around the block to our front door. We were told by all the other contractors that our doorway was a weird size, and that they were unable to install the doors without cutting into our drywall and stucco and removing our patio stairs. We were also told this would be a project that took multiple days. I posted our other quotes to Yelp to see if other contractors could beat it, and Sivan responded. Oded from Sivan came in and confirmed what I suspected: That what we were told by other contractors was wrong, and that they could easily replace our sliding patio doors with French doors with a lock, and that it could be done via retrofitting and would only take a matter of hours. Everyone at Sivan was easy to work with. My husband and I frequently have meetings during the day, so it's hard to have a call about house stuff. Everyone at Sivan was able to communicate via e-mail and text so we could handle things while in meetings, and they were super responsive even though we sometimes took months to respond because we had a baby since we originally reached out to them. We were able to get our doors done for $4,298.80, which was the best quote we had from any contractor and included labor, materials, and a warranty. In sum, we highly recommend Sivan if you are looking to replace your doors!

When we started, we only knew what we didn't like about our current kitchen. Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. He was very patient with us. We LOVE how everything turned out! We'll definitely be using Lumina Builders for all of our future projects.

Green Energy EPC is THE BEST solar PV engineering and installation outfit in all of San Diego county. I say that pretty confidently despite not having dealt with every company, because Sam's service was SO FAR above - and different (better) from - the ones I got bids from. We bought a fairly large custom home a couple of years back and were surprised that it had SEER 10 A/C units and inefficiently designed and built HVAC system (main unit undersized, kinked and leaky air ducts). When we use these units for several days (4-10 days) in a billing cycle, our SDG&E bill would climb to over $600. Also, SDG&E has some of the highest electric rates in the US, 25% higher than our other home in Southern California Edison territory, higher than Hawaii and Alaska which are famous for expensive power. When I bought an EV with an 85 kWh battery, I refused to pay even more to SDG&E at tier 4 rates (an EV time of use plan helped until Sam hooked us up). I decided I had to have solar power. Upon researching Yelp, Sam was the first call I made because of his stellar Yelp reviews. He came out and did a very thorough examination of my main panel, sub panel, took careful measurements on the roof for over an hour in the hot summer sun. When he climbed down, he had beads of sweat on his brow as he explained my options with sketches and numbers and taught me a lot I hadn't learned in dozens of hours of research. He listened to my ideas and explained why Enphase microinverters were still a better option than the SolarEdge optimizers I was interested in. Sam spec'ed out a high end system with 310W LG Neon 2 mono X bifacial 60 cell panels and Enphase micro inverters for a very reasonable price which, after tax credits, will be paid off in about 4 years. I also got quotes from 3 other solar PV companies. They were busy selling solar PV installs and only had a few minutes for me. They didn't look around the outside of the house and DEFINITELY didn't get up on the roof. Their quotes looked more like advertisements than estimates: glossy brochures with photos and projected savings tables, but were sketchy on the details of the solar PV systems. And the prices were 27-36% higher than Green Energy EPC's quote despite their panels being lower grade to maximize profits. Your savings may vary, but you'll pay the same or less for a better quality system with Green Power EPC. Needless to say, Green Energy EPC got our business. Sam took care of everything, from drawing up plans, submitting them and getting them approved, showing up to install on time, and completing the install on time. As I recall, it took about 1-1/2 wks from final inspection to being grid tied to SDG&E. I also got the enVoy internet gateway for remote monitoring, and after the install was done, they needed to set it up, and because I'm hard to reach, they contacted me several times until I was finally able to meet someone from Green Energy EPC at my house. This process took more than an hour, a LOT more involved than I'd expected, involving a lot of data entry and even drawing my rooftop panel arrangement! The monitoring portal through enVision is AWESOME and shows my system is producing as promised; . The peace of mind of knowing Sam was interested in providing the best system and the best installation at the best price rather than maximizing sales and profits is priceless. Green Power EPC staff's follow through even after they'd received all their money raises them to 6 stars. What? 5 stars is the max? That doesn't sound right. I'm still gonna give them SIX stars. Give them a call, you'll be so happy you did: no feeling dirty after being subjected to high pressure sales tactics, the best quality system available, a great warrantied installation, and billions of future children will thank you for helping save the planet. And that last part... that's priceless. read more

San Diego: As a physicist, I am well versed in the theory of solar energy. I have applied many of the principles and related calculations on slightly different problems. I was not well versed, however, in the application to solar panels. I did a lot of research, read many reviews, and narrowed it down to five companies with whom to discuss and obtain estimates. I was extremely happy in my discussions with Sam Syed. He had looked at my roof using satellite imagery before arriving and had a good idea of what was needed. I told him we were also going to replace our roof. He said they would be able to work with the roofing company to install the supports and flashing during the replacement. As he continued, I asked a lot of questions. He realized from my more detailed questions that I knew quite a bit and answered appropriately. He was very knowledgeable not only about the installation and practical operations, but also the theory (it turns out he teaches a class on the subject). I told him I wanted newer, but proven, technology, the ability to add a battery, and sufficient power generation to cover additional needs. He also provided me with information to obtain past hour-by-hour electricity usage from SDGE so I could calculate the power available given the system I was going to purchase (that way I could look at the performance and the cost of different system configurations with our typical electrical usage). Other bids provided systems that were small (to keep the price low), old technology at same price as new technology (for example, not micro-inverters), or just simply did not pay attention to my requirements. Sam provided me two different systems that met all my requirements - the only difference being one provided more power should I decide to go that way. Unfortunately, the state went into lockdown because of the pandemic just as we were going to replace the roof and install the system. Because one of his employees was at high risk (as are my wife and I), Sam asked to postpone a month, to which I agreed. We scheduled the roofing company for that time. Half way through the roof replacement, Sam spent a couple of hours measuring where the panels could be placed, avoiding shadowing by a chimney, and installing the stanchions. He also provided the appropriate flashing for the roofers to install around the stanchions. After the roofers were complete, Sam's team came in and installed the system quickly and efficiently, on the schedule provided. All the team was very friendly and helpful, as well as very respectful of virus precautions. Green Energy EPC had the proper forms prepared, disclosures, the post installation government inspection, SDGE interconnection agreement, and system monitoring application ready within a few days of completion of installation. They also provide the appropriate paperwork for rebates. Overall, we had an excellent experience. I highly recommend Green Energy EPC, but I believe the key is to prepare. read more

I recently had a residential solar array installed by Green Energy EPC. I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with Green Energy, and I highly recommend them for anyone considering a solar installation. I had several quotes from competing installers, and the quote from Green Energy EPC was the most professional, with the most competitive price. Sam arrived for the initial site survey and was very professional. He went up on the roof and measured the space available for my array. He walked me through everything I needed to know about the installation, and he gave me an initial estimate for installation of 10 business days (Other installers had estimated about 6 weeks). One thing that struck me was that Sam is an engineer, and was able to answer all of my technical questions. Other companies had sent sales people, who didn't bother performing a site survey before giving me a proposal, and were more interested in giving me a pitch, than answering real questions. I'm a bit of a data junkie and so Sam mentioned how I could download detailed usage power data from the power company. Sam also wasn't pushing his own affiliated financing deals, so he mentioned a couple local credit unions that I could independently get fantastic financing from. I checked them out, and got financing at an amazing rate. After the site survey was complete, Sam sent multiple system proposals for my roof with various equipment and configurations. The proposals were professional and detailed, and I selected a system with 14 335 watt panels from LG with Enphase microinverters. About 8 days after I sent the signed proposal, Sam's team arrived and performed the installation. The installers were friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Installation went very smoothly, and the installers showed me that once the system was active the meter was indicating a surplus of power being sent back to the grid. One of my requests was that I may want to add more panels to my system at a later time, and Sam selected a junction box that had extra space for additional wiring later. Sam also made sure to run the cabling from the roof in such a way that we could add additional panels on a second roof section quite easily. Two days later, the power company sent me approval for the system to be activated, and Sam called me to throw the breaker. For the past week, my panels have been generating plenty of surplus power that should help offset my AC usage once the summer kicks in. The final step happened about a week after installation, when Sam's team arrived to configure the Enphase Envoy monitoring device. Sam's team walked me through monitoring panel performance and status. I highly recommend Green Energy EPC. Their prices are very competitive, and the speed that they were able to install everything was surprising. Sam yelp review We had quotes by 8 solar installation companies around the San Diego area and weighed their pros and cons. We eventually chose Sam Syed to install our PV solar system, and he a wealth of knowledge in the field, mastering in electrical engineering from University of Illinois. He also teaches PV solar installation at junior college. Therefore, we knew that A) he really knows his stuff and B) he is not after our money. Many estimators came to the house, hopped around on the roof with a ruler, jot some arithmetic down on paper, and tell you what you should purchase. That does not mean they actually know it. On the spot, Sam took the time to teach us about the system that we were buying. We spent much time correctly sizing of the system in person, via email, and phone conversation. One of the unique factors that he took into consideration was the physical size of the panel and how they would arrange on the roof. He recommended panels not only because of their output, but because of the higher efficient use of space on the roof. The cheapest installer recommended the biggest panels with the highest kW produced so his cost/watt would be the lowest. He would find out later that the installation of those panels would entail extra costs per panel for tilt kits because the different angle on that side of the house. Sam those this panel because it left extra room on the roof for future expansion. In addition, Sam used an online tool that uses historical weather patterns in our area for the past 10 or 20 years, dimensions of the roof, and other factors to roughly estimate the output of your solar system. My old man tested the website with the production his current system and the website was off by 5% (not bad). Another quality about Sam that makes him stand out was his remarkable patience, willingness to repeat himself (on my behalf more often than not), and his personal investment. He treated our roof like his own. Solar installations, from signing of the contract to collecting energy for consumer uses, were unanimously quoted as a 2 month (8 weeks) process. This includes getting permits, physical installation, waiting for SDGE inspection, waiting for SDGE to reconfigure the meter and give us permission to operate. Somehow, Sam did it in 5 weeks! The physical installation took 3 days. Sam ensured that we knew exactly what was going on, what their progress was for that day, and a quick summary of what was left. These are a few of the highlights of our experience with Sam, but most of all, Sam is just a good guy. He really wants the best for ya. He got our business, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an installer. read more

We have been extremely happy and satisfied with our solar solution from Green Energy EPC and recommend them highly to anyone considering solar. After extensive research prior to purchasing our system, talking to a number of smaller and larger, name-recognized companies, we chose Green Energy EPC in large part because of the difference in their approach to meeting our energy needs, which made total sense to us. Instead of just looking at our electrical bill history and projected future needs, and then designing a solar solution that covered that amount like all their competitors did, Green Energy completed an extensive analysis of our electrical usage -- by seasons, devices in our house, even down to every light bulb in the house FIRST. This helped us determine where we could cut our electricity consumption prior to even installing solar by switching out bulbs to LED, using timers, and other tips to conserve energy. THEN, they designed a system for us with enough panels to cover our reduced usage rather than what we had habitually been using. We ended up with a high efficiency 13-panel system vs. 25-27 panels as all the other companies had projected! Green Energy helped us not only save money on the front-end purchase of the system, but also in our ongoing cost for electricity going forward. As a side, but important, note, we had the extra complication in designing our system of having a beautiful old 60-70 ft. tall Canary Island Pine tree to contend with/work around - and which we very much wanted to preserve - to maximize our sun exposure and make our system work most efficiently. While the other guys either recommended removing the tree or severely pruning it (which was unacceptable), Green Energy was able to design around it and give us a great-performing system. It was a nice touch for them to walk the extra mile with a human, aesthetic and "green" attitude toward getting the job done. All the way through the process, everyone we have dealt with at Green Energy EPC has been knowledgeable, professional and courteous, with excellent follow through. They have been extremely responsive with responding to questions, maintenance, software support and everything we have encountered since installing our system. If you are looking for someone who will help you be energy efficient and get the best bang for your buck with Solar Energy, Sam Syed of Green Energy EPC is your guy. I have been interested in switching to pv solar panels for close to 20 years. I contacted about a dozen contractors over the years in my quest to go solar. Since our household doesn't use that much energy (never move past tier 1 on my SDGE bill) it never made economic sense... until now. Sam and Charlie (Charlie is from Wipomo Energy Ecosystems) don't just look at a few of your most recent energy bills and give you a bid for a system. They analyze your energy use by looking at your appliances, your lighting and any household equipment that uses energy and they first see how to improve your energy efficiency. Then, through an interview process they consider your current and future energy needs so that they can design the optimal solar electric system for your house. This is almost unheard of in the solar industry as it means the installer will likely make less money on the system. This dedication to adding value to my house over their short-term higher profit margin puts them in a league of their own. In my experience every question I had was thoughtfully answered. Every phone call and email was responded to in a timely manner. Consideration of my future energy use was a factor. I anticipated bringing an electric car into the picture and that became part of the design. If my energy needs ever end up increasing the system was designed to accommodate more panels. Installation was incredibly fast and efficient. The crew was friendly and conscientious, being careful of my house, my solar panels and everyone's safety. I waited to write this review for several months, for several reasons. After the installation I figured I might have some follow-up questions. Again, unlike most companies I've dealt with, Green Energy EPC cares about you even after you have paid them! They still answer my calls and questions quickly and continue to work with me beyond the contract. I cannot recommend these guys enough. I might end up writing a pretty long review but Sam deserves the best rating and most raving comments for the Solar project he did for me in November 2017. This review has been long overdue but Sam has surpassed by expectations right from the first call he gave me to handling post installation questions. I can say without any hesitation that Sam is most knowledgable, extremely sincere, and thorough professional who approaches each job as if it is for his family. Right after the first call, Sam came over and spent couple of hours educating me and my wife about Solar. If you have gone through solar or thinking of one, there is so much confusion out there in terms of type of panels, inverters, system sizing, roof mounts and rate plans etc. Sam is one stop shop for all these answers. The thing that really impressed me was that his main goal was to educate us, and not to sell the job. What made our installation more tricky because I wanted to re-roof at the same time. Sam patiently worked with my roofing guy even though we had to explore multiple roofing options. With repeated interactions with Sam, I had complete confidence in his ability to deliver an outstanding solar installation for us. Sam worked with our home owner's association, SDGE along the way as well. In fact, he worked really hard and got us on the schedule before Nov 30th so that we could be grand-fathered into the rate plan of our choice. Even after the install, he has been a complete delight and helpful professional. He will respond to you promptly and provide you the service you deserve. It is no surprise that his company is becoming a solar leader in the region. It is a testament to his knowledge, passion, sincerity, and great team working for him. We chose Green Energy EPC after interviewing 4 other home solar system providers, and we are SO GLAD we made the right decision. The initial in-home evaluation was conducted by Charlie Johnson of Wipomo and his team (works in tandem with Green Energy EPC) to meticulously examine and determine our energy usage, needs, and future requirements. We felt that this individualized attention resulted in the solar design being the right configuration for our home. We did not end up with more panels than necessary (some companies wanted to install more than needed), thereby saving money. Charlie is personable and, as an engineer, has wide knowledge about solar and all energy-related options. We also chose, with Wipomo's help, to change out 80% of our light bulbs to LEDS, which significantly reduced the number of panels needed as well. The owner, Sam Syed, actually answered the phone himself when I initially called the company, which I thought was impressive. Tan Ho was the lead project manager and did an outstanding job along with the whole crew. Their care and concern for our roof and property throughout the installation was exemplary. I'd say they went the extra mile in every category. They even took the added time, at no extra cost, to connect our two solar arrays by running the conduit through our attic space so there would not be visible rods on our roof top. They even painted the conduit on the walls to match our stucco. Green Energy EPC is all about personal, meticulous service, highest quality workmanship, follow-up, communication and, of course, cutting edge solar installation and maintenance, with online computer system monitoring by both the company and by the homeowner. Not to mention their pricing, which was fair and several thousand dollars under their competitors' quotes. From contract signing to flipping the switch took only 24 days. I have heard tales of home solar projects which took literal months to get completed. Having retired recently and seeing my high electric bills every month, I became interested in having a Solar Electrical system installed at my home. After having done much research, attending many home improvement fairs/demos and listening to a lot of door to door sales pitches and receiving inflated quotes, I decided to seek out a person that I had heard a lot about in regards to Solar. This person is Sam Muqheet. He was teaching a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installation class at Cuyamaca College. We met and had a long discussion about solar panels, solar electricity, site evaluation, electrical panel upgrade, the permit process and fees, along with the need for a set of plans requiring city approval. We also discussed different types of solar panels and different types of installation depending on the type of roof. As time went on I became very impressed with his answers and background and the fact that he was teaching a college course about this very subject. We then set a time when he would come to my home and he again explained everything this time with my wife present. Needless to say, with the research I had done and listening to Sam, we decided to go with Sam and his Green Energy EPC company. I was present during the whole process from site analysis to site plan preparation, electric panel upgrade, material delivery, roof layout and solar panel installation. During the whole process Sam and his crew were always hardworking and professional and I was very impressed with the quality of work. The installation has been completed and my wife and I are very, very satisfied with our installation. Sam and Green Energy EPC definitely deserve this and their many other 5 star reviews. Sam, the owner, comes out to give the bid and will spend time educating you about the process and answering all questions. He is very knowledgeable, straightforward, and clear about everything. I'm very inquisitive, and Sam answered all of my questions during our first meeting, as well as numerous follow up questions over a few different phone calls. Sam is very patient, not at all pushy, and honest and upfront. You can tell that the employees of Green Energy respect Sam and enjoy working for him. During the install they were knowledgeable and thorough, and I could tell that it was important to them to do a good job. Sam assured me before I signed that the #1 reason to go with Green Energy was because of their quality workmanship, and after seeing everything that happened during the install it was absolutely true. Green Energy wants the customer to be happy with the work, and it shows with all of their employees. When Phil, the electrician, was putting the conduit on my roof, I could see it from the street side of the house and wanted to see if it could be done differently. Phil had already laid a few poles, and I honestly felt bad asking him to change it up after he started, but he didn't hesitate. He just said, "I want you to be happy with this, it's no problem." If he would have pushed back and said he had started already and it would be a pain to change, I would have let him do it the other way and not been as happy with the job. Green Energy backed up their words with actions and I was very impressed. Sam also followed through on installing a 240 volt outlet in my garage for an EV charger, months after my solar job had finished. In the summer of 2018, I recently went through the process of getting solar and looked at 4 solar companies. As with any big purchase especially on something technical and not something I am very familiar my #1 criteria for selecting a Solar company was not the price, service history, warranty, product quality, or details of the proposal (granted these were all important factors) but my #1 criteria was that the company had to have a heart of a teacher. I was looking for a company that could educate me on solar panels and what to look for and all the technical details and not one that was try to sell me a system. When it came down to it, between the vendors I looked at pricing was within 10% of each other, and most were selling the same panels and inverters and all had comparable warranties. The main differentiator between the companies were how big they were, how long they have been in business and of course if I walked away from a sales pitch or a learning experience. The best company for us was Green Energy EPC. Not only did I learn about the entire process and what to look for in a system, Green Energy EPC delivered to their word and the level of service was top notch. As an example of a teaching moment, everyone knows that having a sufficient roof to hold your panels is important. One company did a basic visual from google maps, 2 actually went on top of the roof and inspected it, but Sam was the only one who took me on top of my roof and explained to me about the options of where to put the panels along with the pros and cons. This really sold me on Green Energy EPC. Working with Sam and his team throughout the entire process was awesome at every step. Not only did I know what to expect and the timeframe, but they were constantly in communication with me from the day I signed the contract. There is a reason why Green Energy EPC has all five star Yelp reviews. From start to finish we were impressed with their knowledge, professionalism and customer service. First, Charlie performed an energy audit to ascertain our needs. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He configured a solar panel system for us that would also accommodate an electric car in the future. Sam is the owner of the company and a pleasure to work with. An electrical engineer, he has a wealth of knowledge and was very responsive to our questions and concerns. Albert and his crew did a meticulous job of installing the panels and took care to leave the site in excellent condition. They were always very accommodating, even working around our vacation schedule. We have been very happy with our solar panels and we like to see how much energy we are producing on a daily basis using the Envoy iPad app. You will not be disappointed if you choose Green Energy EPC...a top rate company with top rate people. Follow up on 2/17/16 We had central air conditioning installed but a day later we discovered the washer and dryer circuit wasn't working. The installer came out and said we had a short in that circuit and needed to call an electrician. He did not believe it was the result of the AC installation. We called Sam from Green Energy to obtain the phone number of the electrician that installed our new panel. Rather than give us the number he was at our home within an hour and diagnosed the problem within five minutes. It turned out the AC installers didn't engage the breaker properly on the panel. About 2 years ago we were looking to get our roof replaced and solar installed. I called multiple roofers and solar companies to get thorough estimates and understand the process better. We went with Sam and Green Energy EPC for our Solar installation for several reasons. (Foreshadow; we are super happy with our decision. Our experience with our Solar set up has been excellent for two years running!) Sam did not give us a sales pitch. He presented the facts of solar, was upfront about all of the costs, and most importantly took the time to explain the full process and review all of our options. Sam is friendly and very knowledgeable. His crew and the engineer who helped set up the metering were also people we felt very comfortable having around our house. Working with a local company who values the individual customer was also important and something I have found Sam and Green Energy to hold true to this over time. The installation process went great. As a bonus for us, Sam and his crew coordinated very well with the roofer to work together and make the full process seamless for my wife and I. After our first full year with Solar our Net energy bill for the year was ZERO, not including the fees from SDG&E. Going Solar is one of the best decisions we have made for our home. Around November of 2015, I decided to join the rush to put solar panels on my roof. Based in part on Yelp reviews, I chose to get a quote from Green Energy EPC and a couple others. One of the others never showed, and the other was credible, but Sam and his crew were the better choice. It was obvious they had their act together. As part of the install it was recommended I replace the flat roof since it was already 20 years old. He recommended San Diego Roof Doctor, resulting in another 5-star review. The time-consuming part was waiting my turn for roof repair. El Nino was coming and roofers were swamped. But as soon as the roofers could make it, Sam was here with the mounting hardware that would be incorporated into the new roof. I live in a small house and my electricity demands are not huge, so I chose a nine-panel design. Sam recommended that I have extra mounts installed on the roof at the same time (in case I get an electric car, say). I agreed, and now there are the mounts for the 9 panels and extra mounts for another nine. Sam and his crew had the actual install done in about a day. I have the envoy monitoring system (which I actually look at most days), and was nicely pleased by my latest electric bill which showed a net charge (mostly taxes and fees) of just $10 for two months! Yay! Every step of the way either Sam or one of his people would call or come by to make sure things were understood and happening as expected. There were no surprises. I'm sure this was one of their smaller installs, but even so, they put plenty of customer service into making it happen. read more

I spent about 2 months performing in-depth research on the costs/benefits and pros & cons of getting a solar panel system for my home. After significant due diligence, I concluded that it made financial sense (and, yes, environmental sense) to have solar panels installed on my rooftop. The payback period was 5-6 years. The next step, of course, was to proceed with additional in-depth research (about 1 month's-worth) to find a local installation company to do the actual install. During this effort, I learned one critical lesson: Don't fall into the common trap of believing that the best option is to go with large, well-known national or regional (or local) outfits. I performed serious due diligence on 6 such vendors and, yes, I went through 6 face-to-face meetings, all which included fancy hand-outs, sales presentations, price quotes and verbal opinions, promises and assertions. My overall takeaway after comparing the results of all these meetings? Couldn't trust the info. It didn't jive. It didn't add up. It wasn't consistent. I also checked out what others had written about these companies on Yelp and was not impressed! I was impressed, however, with what was posted on Yelp about Green Energy, a small local company. I called; spoke with the actual owner, Sam. He visited my home; carefully explained everything (in actual English). No sales hype. Objective. Facts. Zero pressure. Totally understandable. I wanted to add a solar system to my home but needed to know more about this because I really didn't trust all the ads I was seeing on TV. Cuyamaca J.C. offered a 12 week course designed to prepare and educate folks who wanted to work in the solar field, so I enrolled. I was looking for an honest view of what the solar industry was all about and got exactly what I paid for. The instructor Sam Syed, was a really knowledgable man with a ton of experience and a degree in electrical engineering. He insisted we always do everything by the book and never, ever cut any corners. I loved his totally professional attitude and his ability to communicate with his students. It turned out that while he also taught at another J.C., and he even owned and operated his own solar company: Green Energy EPC. I got estimates from several companies who advertised a lot on TV and one from Sam. He had the lowest quote and used material and panels that were an upgrade from two of the higher quotes I received. Something I wouldn't have caught had I not taken the course. His work was done on time, within budget and looks beautiful! It is a ground mounted 6.2 Kw system and it has eliminated the electric bill completely for a 6000+ square foot house with pool. We are thrilled with everything and highly recommend Green Energy EPC to anyone who wants a really neat and professional job. Sam is a jewel, too! My wife and I were researching solar energy companies for about a year when Green Energy was recommended by one of her professors while in a biofuels program at UCSD. Not only did they evaluate our home for solar energy, but they also made recommendations for us to reduce our energy footprint and lower the amount of panels needed to power our home. They also gave us plenty of ways to finance the system. Once the plans were complete, the installation began. Our main breaker had to be updated and ground wires had to be put in. Sam and his crew made a great effort to make sure we were happy with the new equipment that our older house needed. Everything matched perfectly and the custom ground wires were non-obtrusive and installed to our liking. My wife and I both work from home so we were able to observe the installation the entire time and ask a ton of questions. Sam was very courteous and educated us both on the whole process. After having the panels for about 7 months now, we can see the energy savings using the simple app that works with the system. Our monthly energy bill went from ±$400/month to $191/month until the system is paid for (with $0 money down). We decided a purchased system was the best option for us. It really makes sense to have solar energy for our home. We are saving more than half of what we were paying each month and producing clean energy that helps the environment. I went with Green Energy EPC after getting quotes from some other solar installers. Unlike installers like Sullivan, Green Energy EPC, was responsive at all hours of the day. It is run by Sam Syed, who is very friendly, professional, hard-working, and pays much attention to detail. He works with Charlie Johnson who does the initial thorough analysis of your power usage, shows you all of the data and calculations used to determine options for system sizes, and provides a great report. Their price was the same or less than Sullivan's rough ball-park number, especially with the referral discount (mention my name and you will get one too). Both Sam and Charlie are very patient to answer all questions honestly and intelligently. I am an engineer and both of them come from an engineering background as well, which shows in their attention to quality and detail. The install went very smoothly and is supervised by Sam personally. They do an excellent job on installation, making every effort to keep your house in the same condition as how they found it. They are quite happy to do exactly what you want, even to the smallest detail. His crew is very conscientious, polite, and clean. They all seem quite happy to be a part of Sam's team and all speak English as their first language which was nice when I had questions. I highly recommend using Green Energy EPC for your solar system needs/installation. After comparing proposals from various companies, Sam Syed, the company's president and Charlie Johnson, from Green Energy EPC, gave us the most comprehensive analysis/overview and explanation of the various considerations for our solar system. Their proposal covered everything from different service/cost levels, a detailed description of payment/loan options, a clear listing of the scope of work that would be completed, diagrams of probable panel placement on the roof and cash flow projections on when the system would pay off the initial investment. Both Sam and Charlie were always responsive by phone, text or email and it was nice to see Sam often working alongside his team members as the installation was being completed...imagine the president of the company getting dirty alongside his crew. We had solar installed by Green Energy EPC this past summer and could not be happier with the installation. I had several companies come to our home to provide us information and bid on our upcoming solar project. Sam, the owner of Green Energy EPC, came to our home and thoroughly explained the entire installation process, the amount of power we would need and never tried to up-sell or pressure us to purchase additional panels. He is exceedingly knowledgeable in the solar industry and, in addition to his duties at Green Energy EPC, teaches solar installation to solar installers at a local community college. From the point of introduction to the finish of job inspection, Sam and his crew were professional, courteous, on-time and accommodating. It is a very minor thing, but Sam is one of the few contractors I've worked with who insists on removing his shoes before entering your home and shows the same care with the outside structure as well. During the installation Sam came by to inspect our job three separate times in the same day and returned three days later after SDGE switched us over to net-metering. After working with a number of contractors in San Diego County, I can confidently claim that Sam and his team at Green Energy EPC are one of the most professional crews we've had the pleasure of doing business with. Outstanding Experience - I Wouldn't Consider Anyone Else…read more I spent months researching solar companies and collecting proposals before making a decision. I received quotes from multiple installers, including Sunrun and several well-known local companies. Unique Solar wasn't just the best proposal technically--it was also the best value by a wide margin. Their proposal came in roughly $25,000 less than the next closest competitor and approximately $75,000 less than Sunrun for a comparable system with 14.67KW and 2 Powerwall 3's. What impressed me even more than the price was Ulf's approach. He never tried to sell me equipment I didn't need. In fact, there were several occasions where he talked me out of spending additional money because it wouldn't provide a meaningful benefit for my situation. That level of honesty is incredibly rare in any industry. Unlike several other companies, there was no pressure to sign a lease or PPA. The discussion focused on designing the best technical solution for my home--not on selling a financing product. The installation itself was exactly what you hope for: Completed on schedule. Completed for the agreed price. No surprises. Excellent workmanship. The system worked correctly from the moment it was commissioned. Throughout the project, every technical question I had was answered honestly and professionally. It was obvious that the recommendations were based on engineering and experience rather than maximizing the invoice. Ulf approaches his work the way a true craftsman approaches a trade: carefully, methodically, and with obvious pride in doing the job correctly. That attention to detail is reflected throughout the installation. After living with the system and watching it perform every day, I am even happier with the decision than I was when I signed the contract. Some highlights of Soltech Electric: -Very good customer service and communication. I was always able to get answers immediately direct from Brad and he is handles their project management. -Soltech Electric definitely spent the time to allow us to fully understand everything and make decisions that were best for us including financing versus cash and also the equipment itself which made us feel great about our decisions. -Soltech Electrics install crew has been installing solar for over 20 years and they are extremely experienced electricians so everything was clean and our install looks incredible.
