I usually find shopping for eyewear stressful, so I almost didn't walk in. Within a minute, Taylor and Paulina had me completely at ease. I came in with a rough idea and an open mind, and they ran with it. I tried on something like 20 pairs over an hour and a half, and not once did they rush me or make me feel like I should wrap it up. We went bold, we went conservative, and back again, across Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, all of it. What I loved is that they didn't just nod along. They each had their own opinion and didn't always agree, which is exactly what you want. It told me they were being straight with me, not just closing a sale. Their product knowledge is the real deal. I showed Taylor a photo of a pair I'd seen on a model in an ad and he named the brand and style instantly. They get monthly training on new lines, and it shows. UPDATE: I did finally get a call from the store manager. She was gracious and apologized for her team member and for the second person who was working that day, but not from her store. I've upgraded my rating to reflect, but still won't be spending my money there ever again. Sad. I went in today to buy a pair of glasses. (Ready to drop $250.00 easy, if not more on a great pair) Door was locked with 2 gals standing back at the counter. They came to the door, let me in and seemed annoyed I was coming to spend my $. I had a specific aviator style in mind from Ray Ban, but told them I don't think they still make that version and was open to other brands in that style. They said "no, sorry nothing like that". So I turned around and walked out. Zero suggestions, zero offer to try some other thing's available or explore. Terrible customer service. They need training!! Go back to your extended break, ignoring customers and never hitting or even trying to hit a sales goal or KPI. My partner accidentally dropped her Maui Jim's into the ocean... so we came back to the place we originally purchased. Kemi, who I believe is the manager, was extremely knowledgable, friendly and helpful. We secured another pair and was educated on the different types of lenses and what you have to clean them with etc. Needless to say, I have slowly been ruining mine byy washing with water and soap(did it with my old ray bans, which now that I recall were glass)... these are polycarbonate, so guys and gals know what lense type you have first... apparently I can only use lens cleaner. I went here couple days ago to finally get myself a pair of sunglasses after spending two years waiting for Tiffany to design the perfect pair of shades for me! While perusing online I narrowed my list of favorites down to six styles, and I wanted to try them on before settling on the winning pair. I would give the whole experience 3 stars because Sunglass Hut did some things very well, and others not so much. I will start by listing the not-so-positive feedback first in hopes that someone from upper management understands and fixes these issues that may be taking customers away from this otherwise perfect little store. Cons: - Store hours on Sunglass Hut's website and Google are listed as 10-9 Mon-Sat and 12-6 Sunday. However, only once I got there I found out the actual store hours posted on a little hand written piece of paper by the door. I wasn't in a rush and was looking forward to new shades so I killed 30 min while waiting for the store to open. But someone else, some other time may not be as easygoing. Nowadays with people's busy schedules and awareness that Covid affects store hours, consumers rely heavily on online info and I don't think it's too much to expect a company like Sunglass Hut to get with the times and keep the information available online current. - Even though they have a wide selection of styles, they do not keep sunglasses in stock. I was ready to drop $800 on two pairs of Tiffany shades right then and there, but they told me the only pairs available were the ones on display, which had minor scratches on the frames. I mean, not to be too picky but if I'm going to spend half of my monthly rent on sunglasses I want to also experience the "opening a brand new Tiffany blue box" feeling. In order to get that, I was either going to travel to a different store and hope they have unopened boxes of the two styles I picked, or have new pairs shipped (eta 3-5 business days). At that point I didn't want to travel to another store because I did not have more time for that and MORE IMPORTANTLY I didn't want to take the sale away from the amazing staff at this location! I have been in sales and I wouldn't want someone I don't even know to get credit for the work I've done just because of something as frivolous as lack of inventory. Nicole and Carter at this location were superb and I was committed to giving them the credit, so I asked Nicole to get the new pairs shipped to her store. In this instance employees here were able to keep the business because I was ready to buy from them specifically. Nevertheless for a customer, finding out that they can't instantly get their hands on what they purchased with hundreds of dollars kills the impulse to buy. I'm concerned that you may have many other customers walking away from this store dissatisfied just due to this road block in the sales process. - Sales portal for the sales associates is extremely slow, glitchy, and difficult to use. While Nicole was checking me out she had to apologize over and over again because the system was taking way too long to load, the text size on the screen was simply impossible to read, and she had to redo the order all over due to the system not giving her the option to ship to my address the first time (second time it worked, but at that point I had already decided that it would be better to ship to the store). I've been in Nicole's place before. I know the high of an early day sale, AND the anxiety of not being able to complete it because your system is not cooperating while you're trying to keep the customer engaged and simultaneously solve the technological crisis in front of your face. People get sketched out or impatient when a sales associate repeatedly asks for their personal info. More down time in the sales process is more opportunity for a customer to stop and think about why they should not go through with the purchase, so the technological inefficiencies may be another issue which keeps this store from doing as well as it could. Pros: - The store had all the styles I wanted to try on. I had already checked the night before which stores carried all my favorite styles I'd seen online. This location won, and that's what got me in through the door to begin with. - Sales associates Nicole and Carter were beyond helpful, polite, and friendly overall. While doing sales I've been taught that even if a customer likes the product, if they don't like the salesperson they will just buy it from somewhere else. And it's very TRUE! As a customer, I was willing to go along with the not-so-smooth sales process because I really appreciated all Nicole and Carter were doing to make the experience more positive. Thinking I'll just buy a replacement kit they just put one on and gave me a number to RayBan warranty just in case; at no cost even. Above and beyond. Here in Burgo Spain with my Mom & Tia Rosie visiting family and freezing our nalgas off, I'm catching up on my drafts; what triggered me to pick this one is that at dinner a relative was touting her $500 Gucci Sunglasses to the point of me giving her looks like [ RYFKM! ], my dear Segundo Prima! People still spend over $200 for a pair of designer sunglasses when I have found sources that have the same ones for less....MUCH less! Look, they ALL are made in China. ============================================================== My friend owns a business that has sunglasses and stands in many beauty salons, beauty supply stores and spas on consignment and, I've been doing part time marketing for him, ordering and stocking his stands for 7 years ever since I closed my store on Broadway in January of 2005. So, I'd finally had enough of walking past this Sunglass Hut and many of there other ridiculously priced locations and went in with Marty looking for some clip ons for his transitions lenses from Costco; they just do not get dark enough for him. As I perused the inventory while he was waiting for assistance that seemed to take longer than waiting for Jesus to come, I just could not believe the prices and, that people do not know that they are being ripped off..literally. Tell you why: I've been to Shenzhen China many times to assess inventory for my friend's business and, I was amazed that ALL of those fancy styles are made on the same machine for 25-50 cents a pair! All of the designer styles arms and frames go down one way and are stamped Tom Ford, Gucci, Dolce Gabanna etc, made in Italy and the like and, the other arms and frames on the same machine are down the right side stamped [ made in China ]-YES, same pairs stamped differently. So, when I confronted the store manager about this she was annoyed, came up with fumbling excuses and eventually gave me the look of [ I'm busted but I'm not gonna admit it, you're full of shit ] and with a smarmy "So why are you two here then?" "Well honey, we are looking for clip ons for his sunglasses that are transition lenses and, he would like them a little darker in the car until he acclimates to them being this way." Her response was" Oh, clip ons?" "We don't carry clip ons, why don't you try a Rite Aid or something like that, we sell high end products here." Unless of course you have the cash flow of Brittany Spears, Pink or Kanye West, knock your self out! Do not be deceived by this gimmicky store chain and others like it; by them at the swap meets or street venders as they ALL have the same 2 important types of UVA protection. And, for $10 you can still have enough money to gas up the Pink Cadillac and drink top shelf liquor looking fabulous-sweetie, trust me, no one...I mean no one will know. My experience here was less than pleasant, I was going to actually buy a pair on sale for $85 but, I passed. So, I'm wanted to give this place the Michael P's 3 Star just A-Okay because that's all it is but with the 'tude, 2 Stars and, to each his own-it's your money..RIIIGHT!? I typically try to my heart's delight at Nordy's as they always have a good selection, but I stopped in here on the way to the gym to try on some new pairs. They did a complete remodel of the store a couple of months back and I was pleasantly surprised at all the selection at this Belmont Shore location. I was greeted and was immediately felt comfortable to try on as many as I wanted. I've been here twice now, and I am a "fan" of this sunglass hut.... just the belmont shore one tho. ;) I love 2nd street anyways (great restaurants, boutiques, bars) so what's not to love about the hut?!? I joined they're little membership thingy so I recieved a $20 off card for my birthday, so I went to treat myself to a new pair. The girl working the closing shift was the best! Both times the girls that helped me were honest and told me (nicely of course) that the D&G sparkley ones were NOT me, and the Ralph Lauren ones made me look like I had bug-eyes. But I found one I loved.... Tiffany's turtleshell rectangular polarized ones! The new remodeled store looks really nice and brand new, even though they remodeled a couple of years ago.
