I recently needed some new sunglasses and was really looking for some nice but basic Raybans. I tried ordering some via Amazon but...none of the pairs worked for me when I tried them on. So then I thought ....'it might be best if I could find an actual store where I could try some sunglasses on.' But, the only places I knew of were like these boutique eyeglass shops where all their sunglasses are 'designer', with the pricetag to match. Surely, I thought, there must be some sunglass shops?? So I came to trusty Yelp, and....I saw some good reviews for this shop. "Sunglass Hut?? Isn't that like a chain store... a place typically found in malls, and where young suburbanites who like to dress in Abercrombie buy their sunglasses??" lol Despite my misgivings, I decided to give it a try. Can I just say....what a great experience it was!! The staff were terrific. Selection was great. I ended up buying two pair of glasses, and getting a discount in the process after signing up for a Sunglass Hut credit card. Mind you, I was initially VERY hesitant and suspicious about the credit card offer. I was thinking it was a scam...some type of a trick...that they'd be sending me all kinds of junk mail etc. I was assured that there was no gimmick. All I had to do was sign up for the card, and I'd receive an immediate discount on the two pair of glasses I wanted to buy. I could then pay off the card immediately if I wanted, and even cancel it afterwards. (I think what SH probably hopes for is that many customers will only pay the minimum balance each month and then rack up interest fees. That's probably how they offset the discount you get when you first sign up for the card. But for me, it was not an issue, as I knew that I'd immediately pay off the balance in full...) Net, net, I had a certain 'image' in my mind of the Sunglass Hut chain, but at least as far as this Times Square location went, it was a great experience. I should also add....even in the heart of Times Square there was just a handful of customers in there. So no having to deal with pesky tourists. ;-) read more

Every time I try to exchange or return a pair of shades at this location without fail, I am told there's a scratch on it. At this point this location is either selling damaged products or the motivation is racially biased assuming black people are wearing a returning goods, so they make up excuses not to accept. Avoid at all costs - sales associates Wanda on 34th. Go to Nordstrom, Saks or Bloomingdale's for shades. Any problems here, black people will be told our goods are damaged. read more

For years Sunglass Hut has been the store I get my SG from. They have quality brands and good prices. And even when you agree to buy, they will tell you if a discount is available, and that what makes the awesome. Also, employees are super professional and polite. I recommend. read more

Due to breaking my ray bans, I was in need of finding a replacement pair of sunglasses on a particularly bright day. Not expecting too much from this business, I was pleasantly greeted upon entering and the associate was quite helpful with my indecisiveness to replace the old style aviators. The associate recommended various brands and styles to complement my face. The individual was quite patient as I tried several pairs switching back and forth numerous times. The employee inquired why I was hesitant and actually listened to my unease to purchase the ones shown. Based on my feedback she recommended a pair of flexible Persols. The pair was exactly what I was searching for. All in all a nice shopping experience and I walk away a satisfied consumer. read more

Timez Square is the last place on earth I would by anything, save maybe a kidz shrt with the King Kong Selfy..but lost my sunglasses during travel. Optimistic (weather and future), I went in. What I'll tell you is this, the TSq Sunglass Hut has twice the inventory of every other one I've been too. Second, the attentiveness and dedicated support the floor staff give you is a prime reason to shop here...why is that, I wondered... I believe it's probably a demanding location, foot traffic is off the chartz, so these floor persons have an abundance of opportunity to practice and develop their character, and perhaps the best bubble to the top.....Special shout out to Jennifer for her personal attention. SUMMARY: Some reviews say this location is actually small. I'd say engage the staff, they'll be happy to help you and you'll be what matters most. read more

Like I always say, a chain is a chain is a chain. With that being said, you can basically expect the same things from this Sunglass Hut as you would at any other Sunglass hut. The one disadvantage with this one, it is rather small. Located in Times Square, this Sunglass Hut is actually one of two located in Times Square. The second Sunglass Hut is called a "Sunglass Hut International" and I could not tell you what the heck the difference would be between a "Domestic" or "International" Sunglass Hut. All I know is that the International one is much bigger than this one. Since it is smaller, it does not offer as much variety as a larger one would. However it is still a nice store and the staff is friendly. I went in here to find a new pair after my previous pair was stolen by some drunk girl one night. I knew I wanted Oakley's like the last pair so I did not want much variety with different brands. The selection of Oakley's was not too bad and after trying on a couple of different pairs, I was able to find the one that I liked. The female staff member that helped me knew a good amount about Oakley's and was able to tell me some different things about each pair. The prices were not too bad for a Sunglass Hut, which is why I put them around moderate. However if I could add more detail, it would be that the prices were located on the higher side of moderate. But for being in Time Square, they were definitely moderate. Overall I gave this place three stars because it served its purpose and was convenient. The variety was not the best, but it was not a deal breaker. The staff was friendly and helpful. However had I known there was a bigger one only a block away before buying my sunglasses, I would have probably gone there first. There is also a Oakley store in the same area, so if you are looking for that specific brand you can visit there. I am happy with my sunglasses though and would suggest stopping here if you are looking for a new pair. read more

I never felt comfortable about walking into a sunglass store because I know I have to try out the whole store in order to find a perfect fitted sunglass for me. The workers won't like me in there. Not that I'm crazy picky but it's bcuz of my face feature which no one would understand how difficult it is to choose a perfect fit. But Emmanuel made me feel so comfortable while trying out every and each sunglass in the store. He understood my problem and did all his best to help me find what I really like. He gave the best service I could ever get! He is so very down to earth, smiley, and honest and never pushy!! read more
