**BUYER BEWARE!** The Sunglass Hut at the Thousand Oaks Mall does not honor its 30-day refund guarantee policy. On September 2nd, I purchased a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Just two hours later, I returned to the store to exchange them for a more suitable pair. After wearing the second pair for two weeks, I realized I needed prescription sunglasses. On September 16th, I returned to the store and spoke with an employee named Armando. He informed me that because I had already exchanged the first pair, I was not eligible for a refund, only store credit. This directly contradicted what was stated on my receipt, which clearly outlined a 30-day refund policy. When it became clear that Armando wasn't willing to help, I asked to speak to the manager, Eric, and was told he would be in the store on September 17th. I arrived at the store at 10 AM on the 17th, only to be told that Eric wouldn't be in until 11 AM. I waited an hour, returned at 11 AM, and stayed until 11:30, but Eric still hadn't shown up. After wasting over an hour and a half of my time, I left frustrated and disappointed. I won't be shopping at Sunglass Hut again, and I strongly urge others to avoid this location. There are plenty of reputable sunglasses retailers in Southern California, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. While I can afford to keep these sunglasses or even gift them to someone, it was the blatant disregard for their own return policy and Armando's unprofessional behavior that ruined my shopping experience at Sunglass Hut. read more

Most bizarrely rude experience I've ever had. My experience picking out glasses to have customized for my husband and I was excellent. The strange and rude interaction came at pick up - when I went to pick up my custom order I was handed a box. When asked if we could open the box to verify the order was correct I was told "Well you can open it, it's yours after all." Fortunately, there was another associate that heard this bizarrely rude interaction and proceeded to help me open the box to verify the custom glasses were correct and what I had ordered. If the manager cares to educate their employees on good customer care (or just BASIC customer care), this interaction was with a dark haired gentleman on September 17th around 11:00 a.m. Truly shockingly rude behavior for no reason. Absolute terrible customer service treatment at this store. Manager ERIK was hands down the most aggressive, misogynistic, demeaning, & rude person I have ever experienced. Absolutely has no knowledge of customer service skills, and treated me with no respect at all. Refused to return my online order, LIED and gave a FAKE policy but could not provide any proof, in-fact had his accomplice employee (who was another rude male) pull up an AI google generated policy which was not backed by actual sunglass hut policy because ERIK could not find an actual policy in writing because it doesn't exist, continued to laugh in my face, cut me off when I would speak, and refused to give me the phone number to the regional manager and said I could Google it and Google is free. When a customer asks for information they should be given legitimate references from the company itself and not Google. As a young woman in the store alone I felt discriminated against and at a complete loss & completely harassed. Not to mention incompetent manager ERIK and employee started questioning where I worked as I told them I worked in customer service and you cannot speak to customers this way & I told them it was not their business where I worked and I was called a liar and that I just don't want them to come into my place of work and for them to see that I have no customer service???? I am at a complete loss of words, the way I was treated at this location was absolutely unnecessary. Not to mention no one should ever treat a customer by belittling them & being aggressive especially when I was nothing but kind and patient even when they were doing this to me. Something needs to be done about this manager ERIK who needs to learn that treating people this way is extremely unprofessional & a loss of sales/customers. I just spent two hours in the thousand oaks sunglass Hut trying to return a pair of damaged glasses. I was told to come in and I could get a credit for half of the original price on replacement pair under their warranty. I found a pair to replace the damaged ones and then the computer was down. So I waited.. the two people working were new and could not figure how to enter it in the computer for the transaction. I asked to call the manager to figure out..no answer supposedly. So after hours waiting I left with my scratched glasses completely frustrated and mad. I will never buy another pair of glasses from this store..Idiots!! And over priced! read more

The nose piece on my Maui Jim sunglasses fell off so I came in hoping to locate a replacement. Phillip told me right up front that parts aren't available there. He offered and then called Maui Jim and arranged for a replacement nose piece to be sent to me right Way. Phillip then showed me how to attach it when the piece arrives. Was blown away with his kindness, taking the time to help when he wasn't making any profit as a result. Highly recommend! Came in today needing some new sunglasses (lost mine in Griffith Park yesterday, so if you found some brown Ray Bans, you're welcome, haha) I'm really picky about eyewear (non-polarized, grey gradient, a shape that won't make me look weird), and the salesperson Phillip was awesome. He was amazingly helpful, patient, didn't try to sell me something above my budget, and even taught me a couple of things I didn't know in the process. In the end I found a pair I'm really happy with, that fit well, and we're in my budget. Granted, Sunglass Hut is kinda pricey, but I usually take really good care of sunglasses and quality ones last a long time--drunken Saturday escapades in the park notwithstanding! She apologized for Alex's for his terrible customer service and she will speak to Alex about it. I have changed the rating because management took care of my return. I would avoid this store if you can help it. My son bought a pair of glasses that were given to him off the rack. He did not know better to ask for a new pair. He came home and had buyers remorse and realized how cheap the quality was for $200. The sales girl Holly was rude and tried to find every reason why they couldn't return them. She found a scratch she said, which I did not see at home. I pulled out my surgical loops and light and did not find any scratch. He did not wear them from Santa Monica to home. She told him he had to take them back to Santa Monica. I went in with my son and apparently she changed her tune. She stated that she is "coached by management to say that", but she did not hesitate to return them in my presence. I find their customer service appalling and purposefully meant to cause such an inconvenience, that one would give up. That cost me precious time out of my day. It's that kind of customer service that would detour us from ever buying from any Sunglass Hut from here on out. They should get rid of her. She's bad for business. Hello @sunglasshut, I was racially profiled at your store yesterday. Let me tell you, I am very unsatisfied with the way I was treated. I walked into an empty store where it was only the sales rep, Brittney, sweeping up with her little swifter duster. Brittney greeted me as I walked in, I returned the greeting. She told me about the sales and I asked if I can some glasses on. So I did, I tried a pair, didn't like them, put it back. I only tried on 4 pairs of sunglasses and Brittney approaches me again and asks if she can hold any glasses that I'm interested in. I politely say, "No, thank you." (Because I don't have any, so what is she going to hold?) She then says she can help me find some "like those". I thought she was referring to the pair that I had just placed back on the shelf & I say, "okay". Then she says, "Like the Gucci ones". I say, "Okay." Then was over to the Gucci section. I stand there, waiting for her to help me and she's just looking at me. As I'm standing there, I'm just waiting for her to start helping me like she said she was going to, so I "Okay, what is it?" Then she does an annoyed sigh. I was already confused, now I'm really confused. Then she says, "idk... did you accidentally put them in your bag?" I was taken aback. I then raised my voice, "What are you talking about?! I don't have anything in my bag! What are you talking about?!" At this point, I can see she was nervous, then she points at the shelf and says, "Oh! They're right here!" Then places the glasses higher up. This employee of yours blatantly accused me of taking a pair of sunglasses and putting them in my purse!!!! I was literally in the store all of 6mins!!!! I was accused for absolutely no other reason than the color of my skin. There was another WHITE customer that had walked in during that time but Brittney said nothing to her. For all I know that girl could have snatched a few glasses then left while Brittney was "helping" me. Brittney tried to apologize but I had had enough. She said she was new and admitted to racially profiling me and said that was something that she needs to work on. WHAT THE FUCK?!?! These are the types of people representing your company?! WOW!! **** I called the store this morning and spoke with the Manager, Romy. She was nice on the phone, however, I did expect more of a resolution than just "sorry" and having a "talk" with Brittney. If the decision is to keep this employee after the way she discriminated against a customer, then a just having a talking to her is not going to be enough. The fact that she admitted to racially profiling me, means she is aware of her actions. She needs to go to an in depth training, if that's the case, because I don't think anyone should have to go through the humiliation that I endured. It was disgusting. Romy was very nice on the phone, but she didn't offer anything other than "sorry", "sorry" isn't going to fix what happened. The harassment that I endured isn't going to be erased. I truly the best experience in this store, spent Mother's Day looking for the perfect sunglasses I knew I wanted a specific style but not sure and she was so helpful, gathering similar styles for me to try and delightful the whole time. When I found a pair I fell in love with they only had the display pair left, it had tiny scratches that quite frankly I couldn't see as I didn't have my contacts on and they refused to let me take the scratched ones and ordered a brand new pair, which shipped directly to my house and they arrived within 2 days! After trying on a pair of expensive sunglasses ($250) and deciding I liked them, the manager (Romy) just cleaned the display pair up and put them in a box for me. She explained to me that this is how the store operates. I was astounded that they would sell used goods for full price. I've never purchased from Sunglass Hut before so I'm not aware of other location's policies but I feel like I got ripped off. Me and my husband were helped by not sure if he was the manager or not but his name was Sebastian. EXTREMELY rude , made us uncomfortable threatening to be able to fire my friend due to us mentioning knowing we know her as for discount abuse, even though we purchased $500 worth of gucci glasses. Shook our hands very hard and said pretty loud he could fire my friend and everyone at the store looked and they all knew we felt uncomfortable and left. The store was empty after us. I went in to get my brand new 2 day old glasses adjusted and the sales girl says to me, "we don't do adjustments on glasses that weren't purchased in our store". WTF! Arent all Sunglass Huts under the same company? Don't understand why she couldn't adjust my glasses... After I reitterated that I bought the glasses at one of their other stores and she read the PRADA on the inside of the frame did she agree to adjust them. Rude. read more

Was there yesterday with some friends, and this worker, skinny guy with an Amish beard, dark hair approaches us, and begins talking, dude doesn't have the best social skills but seemed like he meant well. We were looking for some ray-bans to purchase and he helped us. Again, he made us all a bit uncomfortable with his overly "friendly" attitude but we were just like whatever right? Well we decide on the glasses to buy, and I ask if they offer military discount, since I have an ID. The guy then gets weird and says how you need to go through some program.. that's fine I'll pass. But the guy started insulting us, and even started asking personal questions!Making me feel ashamed. I have no problem paying full price. I ask just in case, since my dad who served 20 YEARS tells me to ask because I have the right to! Then after all that he basically said no they don't have military discount. Then he says how the store is from Europe or whatever and that's why, the guy says it like he himself came straight out of Europe even though he's probably never even been there, he doesn't have the friendliness of someone from Europe. Then when we paid he starts asking way too many personal questions.. again! I feel more sorry than angry at this guy, since he obviously does not have the proper social skills needed to function as a competent human being. read more

I had sunglasses in my hand, ready to buy, and whoever was the cashier was on the phone making 0 progress in assisting the woman ahead of me.
