Dr. Curiel is not only an excellent dentist, gentle and pain free-literally did not even feel the needle, he is a genuinely warm and kind person. My first visit he immediately made me feel like a friend going above and beyond to be engaging before, during and after the procedure. The staff has been friendly and gracious as well. Although my previous dentist was pretty much the same I've never felt as comfortable in the chair as I have with Dr. Curiel. Sorry that some people had a bad experience but I have found bad Yelp reviews for people, places and services that turned out to be great in my experience which proves to be the case for me with Dr. Curiel.

The office doesn't look like a typical dentist office: it's located in a poorly maintained 1960s building that was clearly built for some other purpose. Instead of the usual bland or soothing music, they were playing a rock radio station with at least one political commercial that would have caused me to change stations, if I could have. (Maybe not the right environment, if going to a dentist makes you anxious.) Office was decorated almost exclusively with covers from those advertising magazines you get in the mail proclaiming "Best Dentists in Coachella Valley!" They charged me for services I didn't ask for, and they didn't explain why they were necessary or say it wouldn't be covered by insurance; specifically, they asked for $25 as I was leaving. I thought it was odd, but paid it. When I got the explanation of benefits from by insurance (United Health Care), it said I didn't owe any copay or deductible for the visit. When I called Dr Aguilar's office about it they had an instant answer (as if they're asked all the time); "We took photos [not x-rays] of your teeth and applied fluoride, and that's not covered by insurance." I remember getting these services at my appointment but thought it was odd because no other dentist has ever done that for me. It was an upsell without any selling.

I'm glad I did, the owner Joe was a really nice and welcoming person. He personally took care of me for my first appointment. I have since been back for a full deep cleaning on my teeth and gums. I came back today, a month later and all I wanted was a basic cleaning, and my cavity filled. First the price for the cavity went from$53 on the first quote, to $97 today. Her reasoning was that "they under quote in the beginning, and then see what insurance says". Right. Got it. THEN They refused to give me a basic standard insurance covered cleaning, because the dentist recommended a deep pocket cleaning and a laser treatment( not covered by insurance..) It was going to be $497 for a cleaning and a filling. Nope. Don't go here. Beware of shady practices.
