Classic Reuben was cooked like a bacon. Very hard and dry. The young waitress explained that it was supposed to look like that. The shrimp with grits tasted like they have been marinated overnight in salt.BLT was mediocre. Sunliner burger with macaroni and cheese was edible. Milkshake was good. The atmosphere is amazing. Designed perfectly with vintage vibes including antique cars on the inside and out. Two of the vintage cars on the inside have booths in them. Old jukebox. The menus are full size newspaper. We had the candy bacon for an appetizer. Amazing. Served in old tall soda fountain class. We also had big daddy's breakfast. 3 eggs 3 meats pancake and hash browns. Also we had country omelet with hash browns and biscuit. Everything was amazing. From the hostess to our waiter to busboys were all fabulous. Everything we had was so mid for such extreme pricing. Adult fish and chips plate, 2 small pieces of fish for over $17 and shrimp plate was $18 for 6 shrimp. Both seemed like kids plates with adult prices. I got the grilled shrimp Alfredo. The sauce was the thickest driest pasta sauce and shrimp were so salty. Not enjoyable. Took forever for table service to come back around. I asked for a brownie sundae, came out with no brownie. $100 for small portions and mid food. Save the money. My wife and I visited the Sunliner for the first time this week. The restaurant has a great diner vibe with the classic diner decor. The staff is great and always checking on you to ensure your experience is good. I think their burgers are some of the best in the area. I also like their breakfast options. The building looks inviting it it ends there. Prices are sky high and the scrambled eggs are reconstituted. My burger was sooo dry, nothing could help. The lettuce on it was wet and withered. I showed the waitress and she was baffled and brought me some fresh lettuce. They have a cart that takes all the dirty dishes and in the middle of the cart where all the milkshakes and drinks go in a big bucket like container, and it's splashing around going past us really may wanna throw up. My husband was in the mood for a burger so we ventured into the diner. It appeared clean but plastic-looking with over-the-top themed decor. We were seated promptly and soon after, the server had our drink order. Our order was for a double burger with cheese and fries and I went with a "safe" grilled cheese and onion rings. The food came quickly and the order was correct (there were probably 5 tables occupied this day). My husband said the burger was okay but unimpressive and the fries were nothing special and after about 2, he left the rest. The grilled cheese was awful. I was wrong....a grilled cheese was NOT safe. It was not made with butter or butter-flavoring just browned in oil. Dry as old bread. I left it. We each tried an onion ring and the remaining too were left on the plate. We declined the offer of a leftover box. A week later I had a guest who wanted to try Sunliner for breakfast. I let her know of lunch experience but she said, "breakfast is easy!" On this day the place was PACKED which didn't do it any favors sadly. Her scrambled eggs with cheese looked like dry, yellow curds. She thought they forgot the cheese but did manage to find a few strands of shredded. She did not finish them. Her grits were distasteful and her crispy bacon was barely cooked and was sent back. I ordered a piece of rye toast, crispy bacon, and hashbrowns. Bacon didnt arrive with toast and potatoes which i finished before they even brought the bacon. It was ALSO undercooked so instead of sending it back and staying longer i declined it. USUALLY we don't return after an initial lousy impression. Different circumstances this time allowed a second try. This place gets a lot of business, (at least during winter break and kids love gimmicks) We ordered standard diner food and expectations were not met. That's it! I wont make the mistake again. I went back to our tried and true, Duck's Diner in OB. read more

The food was pretty much just overall bland, but what can you expect from a place that sells burgers. They asked us for "sauces" with our bruger not knowing that apparently means condiments???, not to mention the delay with one of our plates being 49 minutes late, everyone was done eating by the time the plate arrived, aswell as a problem with drinks and wait time with those aswell. We visited for lunch today. Place was completely full but only waited 2 minutes to be seated. Fun atmosphere with vintage cars and fun vibes. We ordered a regular cheeseburger with onion rings and a kids meal of chicken stripes, waffle and fries. The kids meal was listed on the menu for $6.99 but we were charged $8.99. The waffle was solid as a rock. Literally could not bite into it. Mentioned it to the waitress and she said yes and walked away. We were there with my 20 month grandson so I wasn't wanting it remade I just felt they needed to know. I was hesitant to even give a 4 but I really feel like our waitress was not feeling well or was overworked. She was rolling her eyes at everyone and came back from the kitchen holding her head. She was working several tables. Several men were walking around watching tables that looked like management. Never offered any assistance to waitresses or waiters. Such a fun idea for a restaurant in a vacation spot. We will give it awhile and try again. read more

The diner is a whole vibe! It's clean. The floor is not sticky like most diners at times. The service was great! The food, especially my fried gulf shrimp basket was Devine!! Every where we checked out, was packed out, and had a long wait, so that's how we ended up at the Diner and we are so glad we did. Our waiter was super friendly and gave let us know some upcoming events this week as well. We will most definitely be back here. A 50's diner themed restaurant from the decor, menus, servers. They even have old cars you can sit in as a table. 50's tunes played throught the resturant. Seemed like it was very well planned out. Serves breakfast all day and also has regular food when we arrived around noonish on a Saturday. Were seated promptly with no waiting. Food was large portioned sized and tasted good. I never received a call, so I followed up over the next few days. I was later told there was a misunderstanding and that someone else had been hired. During the interview, I was asked to provide personal information, including my SSN, even though I was not officially hired. Unfortunately I probably won't try them since they won't take call in orders. I am local and attempted to call in an order (during an off time, 2 pm) and they said you have to go in and place the order. I asked how long I'd then have to wait for the food and she informed me not too long since it's not busy, about 20 minutes. So rather than taking my order via phone and have it ready when I get there, I need to go in to place my to-go order and sit around for at least 20 minutes. What an idiotic policy and waste of customer time. I would've emailed them the suggestion but they don't have an email contact option. read more
