We paid $35,000 for a backyard remodel, and less than three years later the turf is already showing serious issues. Several areas are completely flattened and won't bounce back, making it look worn out and poorly installed. On top of that, a section of the turf has been burned due to window reflection--something that was never disclosed or even mentioned as a potential issue during the project. When I reached out to the company to come take a look, I was told it wasn't covered under warranty and they refused to even come out to assess it. For the amount of money we invested, that level of customer service is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience overall. Leo had good communication and was on site 2-3x a week while construction workers came Mon-Sat, approx 8am-4pm. We had a deadline, so Leo made sure he had his workers come 6 days/week to complete the project on time. Any issues, questions, or flaws during the ongoing project, Leo made sure to answer and correct pretty quickly. They quoted me a min $10,000 per job without even coming out to see the site.. which is their way of padding the budget and overcharging for the small jobs so they can discount the larger jobs... Making the little guy overpay... How about you actually just give an estimate for what the job would ACTUALLY cost? Better Place just completed our front & back yard project. We are thrilled at the efficiency, communication, quality of work, overall experience, & the crew! My husband and I purchased our SFH not too long ago and the entire yard was beginning to rapidly deteriorate. We spent a lot of time discussing and creating a 3D design to revive and make the space usable. Finally, we were ready to find a company to help us (late Oct 2022). We received a response very quickly from Alyssa who scheduled a meeting with one of their project managers. Omri came over a few days later and already had full knowledge of our ideas from our 3D design and email that I had sent prior. Over the next week or so, we finalized the plans and were sent a few Docusigns; including a detailed and itemized quote. We decided to finance the project via their preferred loan company which has no payments/interest for a year. Epic! The crew came out a couple weeks after my very first email; ~3 weeks earlier than Omri's estimated start date. They were here M-F from 8:30am til just after sunset (Nov/Dec 2022). My husband and I loved watching the transformation everyday and became friendly with the crew. They were always happy to answer any questions we had or if we were curious about a process. They also installed full yard drainage & electrical. Omri & Jose (another project manager) would text us regularly and were always quick to respond. The whole project took about 7 weeks, which includes 2 major holidays & rain delays. Fantastic job helping me redo back yard; prior home owner had done shabby upkeep, even replacing bad cement with river rock, which made much of my space totally useless for anything. BPR did great job extending patio into lawn, extending to the side which was a dirt lake in winter, cleverly integrated my new rain gutters into the drainage they did, and replaced the darn river rock on north side and the walkway to side gate. Proper pro job with dirt compacting, level, rebar and cement pour. Still settling, but couple weeks in and wow. Looking forward to USING my space. There were some hiccups here and there as with any big projects but a simple message to him always resulted in a quick/timely fix of my concerns. I also had some change in project ideas along the way and he worked with me to make sure they were addressed. Despite the supply chain issues nowadays, they started and finished my backyard sooner than I thought they would. They also offered a selection of financing options which was an added convenience. Obviously you don't have to go with them if you have better rate options somewhere else. Speaking of money, Clay was great at making sure you get the best bang for your buck. Simon was very friendly, but spent too much time asking too many questions that were really just out of curiosity about my nice pool rather than professional interest in the structural problem I needed help with on the house. He spent a very short time assessing the pre-existing botched project and said I need to get a permit that will tell him what work needs to be done. That was not helpful. I need a company who can assess the issues on their own, see what needs to be done so they can apply for the correct permit themselves. He missed the whole point-that I need an estimator that can seriously take a detailed look at the structural work that was done, understand what was done wrong, and make a plan for how to correct it. He couldn't give me an estimate for this most important part of the job. He only gave an estimate for concrete deck staining- a ball park figure of $6000-$7000 which is more than double what my last quote was for the same 700 square feet. Then he spent a lot of time telling me that there is no guarantee with concrete staining and the work might not last. Well, that is $7000 I do not intend to pad their wallets with. read more

I had a confirmed appointment with Better Place only to be called a half hour prior telling me the project manager won't be able to make it and that I would need to reschedule for another day. It's been 13 days since I wrote the initial review and our project was completed today, including any minor punch list items. Immediately the next day after my review, Better Place sent a full crew to work on our backyard. There were more workers on site than I've seen in the past. The PM & the owner talked to my husband & me, apologized, & took full responsibility, which goes a long way. As we said to them, their product came out great, but it was the process of getting there that needs to be improved as well as communication. After posting my Yelp review, one of their guys called and asked a few questions related to my experience with the rep/project manager/estimator who came to visit me. He asked me if he was a "good or bad" project manager. I told him I can only give him the FACTS and it is not upon me to say whether the person was good of bad. Before that conversation this guy "Bob" asked when I wanted to get the project started. I told him I will decide AFTER I get the quote. It's a sales push tactic guys. A day later they finally sent me their quote. Since then I must have received at least 50 follow up calls (yes, A LOT) asking me to remove my review or provide an update to my review. Hence this update. I find it EXTREMELY ANNOYING to get these follow up calls when I only posted an honest review. They said they sent me a Cheesecake Factory gift card (that I never got; additionally I told them to call Cheesecake Factory to CANCEL the gift card as I am not interested in it.) To Better Place Remodeling: STOP the annoying calls. My review was honest so I will NOT change it. I will say that AFTER MY REVIEW, YOU DID PROVIDE ME WITH A QUOTE, but that's it. We had gotten estimates from two other companies before Simon came to review requirements for two retaining walls and a drainage system in our backyard. He took the time to accurately understand what we needed and, before leaving, provided us with a written estimate of the work to be done along with a complete cost estimate for this work. This was the most complete and reasonable of the three estimates. Daniel was our project lead. Throughout the project, he and the office staff at Better Place Remodeling kept us informed on progress and were always responsive to any inquires we had. This level of commitment to customer service and responsiveness is a real rarity these days. The crew did an amazing job on the two retaining walls and drainage system. The quality was top-notch, and they completed the work in a very timely manner.
