Donuts were meh and lady working was unpleasant. The place seemed rundown and dirty.

Open 24 hours day but I have only been here on the weekends in the mornings. The donuts are always fresh when I am here. The donut selection is huge. I usually change my mind a few times before I decide which donuts I actually buy. Always two donuts and a medium coffee. Same with the wife. Two donuts and a medium coffee. This last time. I got two maple bars. I know you think they are just donuts but they are not. They are a sugary masterpieces that delight my senses and starts my day with a sugary orgasmic high. Just add coffee and I can conquer the world. Did I say I love a good donut in the morning? The word has got out though. Most weekend mornings the line is out the door but do not be dissuaded. I do not eat dough nuts very often, but when I do, well I eat them. This location of Sunny's Dough nuts use to be a Dunkin Dough nuts years ago. I was certainly a fan back then, and I am happy to say I am a fan of this place too. When I walked in the girl behind the counter was ready and willing to serve with a smile. Yeah, friendly service, you got to love that. Well, I was over whelmed with the amount of dough nuts they had to choose from, so I let the lady who walked in behind me go ahead of me. I finally asked for the croissant and a cinnamon roll. I am a sucker for those. The croissant was very big so I only ate half of it. It was good but not out of this world. It was just a little dry towards the outside, could of been moister. The small cinnamon roll was super. It had a nice sugary coat on the outside and it was extremely moist inside. I am glad I got the small one because the regular ones were huge. Bought a dozen doughnuts here... FINGERNAIL baked right into the doughnuts!!! What the heck!!! I called this place to get a refund.. **This was the first doughnut that but into... I was told that only the "FINGERNAIL DOUGHNUT" was going to be refunded. I was also informed ( while the person on the other end chuckled) that Anna lost a fingernail that day :/ This fingernail was a good inch and a half long!!! GROSS! This place is either really good or really.. not so good. First of all, the front door is usually wide open and when you walk in you can see that all the donuts are completely exposed. Like, no cover or case what so ever.. so that's kind of a concern. If you get lucky and stop in while the donuts are fresh, they're delicious. I feel like more times than not though, we have stopped in while they... weren't so fresh. Being a 24/7 establishment you'd just assume they'd be fresh anytime since they're always open but it's definitely not the case, unfortunately. I will say the staff that's working has always been nice and polite but when you're craving a donut, a dry donut is definitely a disappointment. read more

We stopped by on Friday night. My little dude was craving some donuts so I yelped up a nearby shop and we cruised over. The lady that was working was really nice to him, which I always appreciate. They were out of about 3/4 of everything they had listed in the baskets behind the counter. The woman in front of us asked for something that wasn't out there and was told that they only had what was out, that what was in the baskets was all there was. I imagine she was inquiring because when we both walked in she had been in the back decorating these fully loaded carts of fresh donuts so that must be why she was so confused.. My son settled on a dozen donuts. I have no idea where he gets this ferocious appetite from :-). He began ordering two of this and two of that, and I tried to hold back my laughter. I did manage to order one jelly donut for myself to try out of curiosity. This ended up being a mistake on my part. Remember those old Wendy's ads in the 80's? The old lady with the memorable tag line "where's the beef?" I ate almost the entire donut wondering "where's the jelly?" Then when I found it I just about gagged. Careful what you wish for is how I'd best describe the taste of that red stuff. This shop is located on Spring Street across the street from the new 7-11. It's very close to the 94 west entrance. The location is off the 94 freeway at the Spring Street exit. Been going there for years. Looks like a mother-daughter team where the daughter mainly takes the orders and the mother does the other necessary jobs to keep the store maintained. This morning I was a little disturbed to see the older lady sweeping the floor in front of the area where the open donuts are kept. She could've done that when no customers were around. This place is terrible. The donuts are okay, but the lady who runs the late night shift is ridiculously unfriendly. Look, I get it, you don't like working the graveyard shift. I'd like to preface this review and say that I have only been to this donut shop one time and have only eaten one donut so this will be based on these factors. I decided on a powdered sugar blueberry filled donut. It wasn't very good. In fact it was quite obvious that it had been sitting out all day. Please keep in mind that I went at 8:30 pm for a little after dinner treat. I was fairly disappointed. I've been told that if you go in the morning the donuts are quite tasty but there is a lack of constant quality throughout the day. My husband and I ent here for the first time yesterday on Easter Sunday. As we entered we saw the breakfast menu on the window. Those croissant sandwiches looked like a great idea. We were greeted by a nice lady and I proceeded to order a croissant sandwich, half way into my sentence she cut me off and said "oh no, I don't feel like making those right now." My husband and I looked at each other thinking we heard her wrong but I ordered a mini coffee roll and a large coffee. This was at 10am and there was not enough coffee left in either pot. My husband decided he didn't want anything. Just then a man came in with a full bottle of Alta Dena milk he had just bought. He told the other younger woman that the milk was bad and tasted rancid, just then this dirty looking man came out from the back and both the woman and the baker got defensive and said they couldn't do anything about it because the date on the bottle was good. The customer pointed out somebody else had left a full bottle in the parking lot, presumably because it was also bad milk. It seemed like the employees were aware of this, their response and defensiveness was to quick. They didn't even apologize or offer a refund. Then the younger woman poured one of the coffee pots contents into the other pot. One was supposed to be regular and the other vanilla. The next group of customers ordered vanilla coffee but got the mixture she had just poured. Once again my husband and I were looking at each other like "wth". The place was dirty, the people in the back looked filthy, almost like homeless people. The coffee was old and they don't have what they advertise. Needless to say that will be the last time we go there. All in all we were in and out in 10 mins. The service towards us was ok, not the greatest but it is a filthy place andI don't trust those people with anything that will go into my body. read more
