This is my go to place, the coffee is better than any coffee shop around (trust me I have tried them all) the place is adorable, I wish they would take over the Public Square building in la Mesa! The service is always friendly and fast, and you can customize anything on the menu.

My friend has gotten me takeout from Honey Haven multiple times before, and I've always enjoyed it. Today, I checked the place out for myself. So here goes: The coffee shop itself was small. No seating inside, but they had three tables out in front. They made the space they had super cute. It even has a chandelier. Love it. The barista was super customer friendly and attentive. I ordered their Lavendar Matcha iced with oatmilk. It was soooo delicious and creamy! It was sweet but not too sweet. I also got a breakfast burrito - the What-I-Need. I do love a burrito with fries in it haha! Although the burrito is $16, it was huge and comes with a side of home fries. Everything was tasty! They did have some seasonal specials which included a Coconut Cloud Matcha that I need to try before they switch up the seasonal menu. I think I found my new go-to neighborhood coffee spot! Definitely recommend if you just wanna grab and go!

If you like sweeter coffee this is your place! I was craving a sweet drink and the banana bread latte was perfect! You still get the flavor of the coffee but the brown sugar foam was creamy and sweet! We also got a hass-hash breakfast burrito that is my new favorite! It had a crispy outside and flavorful inside. It came with bacon and sausage which were not greasy at all. To order inside, it is a bit smaller to where only a few people fit at a time. Although, they are really fast with brining out your order. We waited around 10 minutes for our food and drinks. Seating is a little tricker here, as they only have outdoor seating. The decoration is simple with a main wall displaying Honey Haven. Perfect for taking an aesthetic photo of your coffee!

I am absolutely obsessed with this spot! My friends and I stumbled upon this coffee shop after our hike at Cowles Mountain for sunrise. I have to say this is one of the best banana bread lattes I have ever had in San Diego, and I claimed to be quite the connoisseur myself. The latte was perfectly sweet and did indeed taste like liquid banana bread. I will have to go back just to try more of their menu and they're amazing looking and smelling food items. The staff was also very sweet and even though the shop was small it's the perfect spot post hike or if you're in the neighborhood.

The coffee and food here are delicious! I would say the prices on the breakfast burritos are a little high but it does feed two people. There is plenty of parking and the shop looks very clean. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are nearby.

Loved the bumble latte. Bruschetta toast was delicious and so many food options! Parking was terrible. MINIMAL seating. On the pricier side (toast was $13) so I won't be back too often.

Surprised to find I haven't written a review of Honey Haven yet as it is hands down my favorite local coffee shop! Not a coffee snob but know what I like and have brought & recommended to folks who are and none of us have ever been disappointed. As others mentioned it is more of a walk up because there are only 3 outdoor tables, but I've never had difficulty grabbing one and worth it if you can because the view is Cowles Mountain literally across the street. For a walk up in a strip mall the interior is very cute and cozy and the service is always very warm and friendly. The coffee is fantastic. My favorite lattes are the Iced Bumble (salted caramel & brown sugar) and The Queen hot or iced (w/coconut cream & cinnamon). They have a surprisingly extensive menu that I'm meaning to try more items on as both breakfast & lunch items all sound delicious. Since I frequent very often, I'm mostly grab and go and will often pick up a bakery item. The cinnamon roll is amazing by the way. Not super dense, but very light & flaky almost like a cronut & just tried the tropical danish which had a lilikoi center topped with flakes of toasted coconut, so good. Have tried the French onion soup, also very good and the avocado toast has a super generous portion of avocado. Bonus I've been coming here for a few years now and not once have they ever gotten my order wrong or made anything subpar.

Cute little coffee shop with good coffee and lots of breakfast items. Right across the street from Cowles mountain.

Talk about a good coffee spot! Possibly found a new favorite? Nowadays it's hard to find a coffee spot that makes their own syrups and I belieeeeeeve this place does that? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. We tried a few drinks (the Angel iced latte half sweetened , Mexican cold brew and Cookie Butter latte) all delicious!! Small location, a few tables outside for 2-4 people but best if you grab and go. The menu is extensive enough where most likely anyone can find something they like. The chilaquiles, bruschetta and breakfast burger were all hits. Staff is friendly and they offer military discount, always a plus! Will definitely be back to try more!

I have been here several times and I don't know how I have not written a review yet. I LOVE this place so much. Syrups are house made and coffee are perfect each time. My favorite is the cookie butter latte. The food is delicious from there too. The place is small, only outdoor seating. The service is fast and everyone is always so nice and friendly. I don't go to this place for a while but then I when I do I go through my strong phase of it. It's one of the best coffee shops that checks off all my boxes (as a coffee connoisseur)

Yes, some of the best drip coffee around. I truly make an effort to get there weekly because it is great drip coffee. But they have to work on their cup game. About every third cup I get does this. The cup holder in my car is usually swimming with coffee. The cups are probably a bit expensive with the built in sleeve. The manufacturer needs to know also. Please improve your cups!

I just had coffee and a cookie but the food menu items sound really tasty. I will have to come back and try them. Service was good, the restaurant is small, the parking lot typically has plenty of free spots open, dining options is only outdoors so dress appropriately.

Sooooo yummy and flavorful!! Loved the coffee and especially that it didn't taste burnt. Not sure what kind of a roast they use but it was delicious. Food portions are huge for the price so we had leftovers! Everyone was also so sweet working (even with the long lines). Fortunately you can mobile order so makes it so much easier!

The only downside is sometimes it's hard to find parking, I'm very happy with the coffee and matcha options I tried.

Books & Records Delivers Live Jazz, Standout Cocktails, and Exceptional Happy Hour Bites…read moreAs a fan of Common Stock, expectations were high for its Bankers Hill sister spot, Books & Records--and it easily delivered. The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. It is a stylish, fun, and flavorful addition to San Diego's dining scene.

I like the different variety of table seating to the different rooms of where you can dine. It was inviting and very spacious. Everyone that we encountered was super friendly and outgoing. It was very great hospitality. Our waiter was very helpful and check in on us quite often. The service was Superb. Now the food, we went on a Wednesday which they have Happy Hour all day. We ordered The Record Room Burger which came with Fries. This was very tasty. The fries were excellent. I tried one of my friend's dishes which was the Lamb Meatballs and that was amazing. Sadly, the B&R Mac n Cheese did not do it for me. It was missing seasoning and the flakes tasted stale. The staff did give us salt & pepper to jazz it up which did help. Regardless of the mac n cheese, I really enjoyed this place. The red wine was perfection. Overall it was a great experience and I gotta go back to check out other food items.

It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back.
