Sitting mid block on Ogontz Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, Sunny Side Breakfast & Lunch is a Korean owned old school urban restaurant with six tables and a large takeout business. It is geared to the neighborhood, with only hit or miss street parking nearby. I found a spot on a side street, about a three minute walk to the front door. Certainly worth the hunt and stroll. Service was provided by the bright and cheery Melina, who guided me through the offerings and knew exactly how to suggest possible ways to accessorize the Veggie Omelet, Home Fries and Rye Toast I wanted. These included swapping spinach for broccoli in the omelet, adding cheddar cheese for comforting sharp meltiness, mixing grilled onions & green pepper on top of well done taters to add more texture and subtle flavor, and securing rye toast even though it was not on the menu. The small upcharges were well worth it. Even the large coffee in the take out container was only around two bucks and had the strong kick I desired. Loved everything. Omelet was substantial, moist and a pleasant chew. Special kudos to their home fries, which were crisp and delicious with the extra savories on top. True, they had a bit of grease cooked in, but the taste was amazing, and were about the best of breed I've had the pleasure to consume around these parts. I will probably return just to eat those boys again. If you like a little urban adventure with great grub at the end of the rainbow, come to the Sunny Side of life.

Sausage, eggs with cheese, onions n green peppers, and homefries with onions, green peppers, and melted cheese.

Ordered through UE. Arrived hot and everything was delicious. Not pictured is side of bacon and scrapple. I will definitely order again. Only complaint is the costs of the side meats but will order again.

Customer service is abismal at best. Proceeded to yell at each other on the phone when I asked for a food substitution. To stop the yelling and unbelievable behavior, I just said give me the regular. The menu posted is not the actual menu and I was charged an extra $4 when I arrived for my food. I took accurate photos of the menu and am posting them so the same doesn't happen to you. Beware! The food is meh and the service is worse!

Good but basic and platters are small for the price. You could make the same thing at home.

Unfortunately my visit was not as long as I would've liked so I couldn't go sit down upstairs or on the main level. I purchased a Chai Latte and an almond croissant, all of which was very good! The chai was good, not too sweet and earthy tasting which I could appreciate because sometimes they are too sweet or too milky. The almond croissant looked beautiful and was great! What I learned from a friend who visited and on the website is that a lot of the items sold from Vault & Vine are from local small businesses, including the pastries! I think this is a great concept, as it looks like a gift shop with many plants and clever items. I spent the most time walking about and looking at the different items such as the various body butters, room sprays, journals, jewelry and greeting cards. My meal in total was close to $10, which was good, I've spent close to $10 for a chai tea alone!!! I will definitely return and hopefully sit down and bask in all the beauty of the plants. I'd also like to return to try their coffee. If you're looking for a beautiful, green space to enjoy a nice hot or cold cup of coffee, tea or a tasty pastry while being exposed to local merchant items for sale, please visit Vault & Vine, it won't disappoint!

A few technical notes: the egg sandwiches are available UNTIL 11am on weekdays and noon on weekends. Alas, I was too late, so I could not get one to review. The bagels last until they're gone. So I was too late there, too. Will await a review update in the future after I make an earlier-in-the-day visit. The gender neutral bathroom is disability accessible, but the entranceway, alas, is not.

Not sure how that works being they close at 3pm. They did have two jars of cookies. I was disappointed to also find out that they don't make the pastries in house. When I asked about this, the worker behind the counter didn't at least tell me where they get them. I asked if the matcha was ceremonial grade and the worker gave a vague response that did not answer the question. The matcha was also very bland. I also got one of the cookies, oatmeal raisin. It was pretty "meh". I will say it was huge and only $3, so there's that. The atmosphere also lacked personality. I've just moved to the area and have been looking for a great cafe and so far haven't found "it" yet. I'll keep looking!
