Stopped by on a rainy morning, with not too many folks around, and ordered their Wellness Elixir, since I had my coffee for the morning already. Staff were friendly and fast! I took a seat out in the back by the station. Lots of tables around the exterior, and inside. For some reason wi-fi wasn't working well for me, so I hopped on the local Xfinity Mobile hotspot for a bit of work. Not a lot of large tables here, so only for 1 or 2 folks at a time. Otherwise, this is a great neighborhood cafe! No opinion on the coffee, since I actually haven't had anything caffeinated from a High Point yet. read more

The ambience of this place is that it is a cute quirky coffee shop located in an old railroad station house that now serves the SCPT a line. Which by the way, save the Westt Chestnut Hill SEPTA Leykn, the service was wonderful and the playlist was absolutely phenomenal. When you go in, it feels like you're listening to old school indie college radio. It's one of the most punk coffee shops I've been in in a decade. And the food, of course was truly fantastic. The Americano tasted like it was from a third wave of coffee shop, but for the price of your grandpa's favorite coffee shop. The spinach and chevre cheese crap with caramelized onions out of this world. We need more coffee shops like this one. read more

This place is more known for their coffee, but I wasn't too big of a coffee fan so I tried their seasonal drink: lavender iced tea. The lavender tea was pretty good and refreshing. It didn't seem diluted and definitely very flavorable. There were ample seating available, both inside and outside. Highly recommend to try out their iced tea and the variety of coffee beans I saw on sale. read more

Cinnamon buns, sour cream coffee cake, pecan rolls, crepes and coffee. The list goes on and on. I can't stay away. I have a frequent flier card that is so filled with holes it has almost disappeared. My dog and I can walk here- which is a little bit of a problem- he even knows the name- and knows that most who come out will have a treat for him (there are dog bones on the counter and a water bowl out front.) The problem is that I use the walk here to justify the purchase of baked goods and they are so good. The staff know your name and know what you want without you ordering. There are so many regulars. Every single item is made with love and care and these are some of the best baked goods anywhere in Philadelphia. And the great news is that they have just opened their commercial kitchen over on Germantown Ave, so the back of this tiny spot will get renovated with more tables and a back porch- we hope. And now all this yummy goodness is going to be spread far and wide across the land! New to the neighborhood and I am so glad to discover High Point. Their coffee is phenomenal. The service is meticulous and the atmosphere is so friendly! The menu of hot foods to pastries would appeal to all palettes. Their menu caters to those with dietary restrictions -they have milk alternatives and gluten free pastries & other baked goods which are reasonably priced. I haven't tried all their baked goods, but all I have had so far have been excellent. I highly recommend this place for your morning coffee and treat. read more

I adore High Point Cafe! Their coffee is out of this world. I very much enjoy any coffee house that knows the difference between a cappuccino and a latte. Not only that, but the coffee stands alone as both delicious and flavorful. Their baked goods look amazing, but I have yet to dig into them...because I know I would always want more! I have tried their crepes and I have to say, those are quite tasty as well. I prefer the spinach and caramelized onion, as I tend to go for more savory items. I am sure the sweet crepes would be fantastic as well. Now all of this stands only behind the excellent service I am provided each and every time I go in. Overcrowded and not a place to go if you're looking for a spot to study or write or read. When I was there, there would be like 10 people gathered around these teeny tiny table clusters... it was crazy. The drinks here are killer. I was really impressed by the quality of their drinks. I adore this place, if we get there at least once a week I am totally happy, The homemade baked selections are thoughtful, elegant, and have a Delicious taste appeal. High Point Cafe/High Point Two opened last October in the Allen Lane Train Station where the old Coffee Junction used to be. The cafe is similar to the first High Point at Carpenter and Greene, only it seems to have more room, and the baking, from what I can tell, is done at the original location and brought over. The coffee is high quality, strong, yet not burnt like many people describe one major chain's. They also have a lot of pastries/quiches, all made with unbleached flour and butter. Finally, they offer crepes and salads for lunch. The coffee and food are all very good, although I think their salads seem to have little thought put into them. I also wish that they offered products with whole wheat flour, but one can't get everything. Still a solid coffee shop for W. Mt. Airy. read more

Another frustrating pandemic morning at HP ... i've been a multiple times per week customer for the entire life of this great place, but the pandemic is really taking its toll. After more than 15 minutes of trying to reach them to order by phone, I finally saw many people just going up to their door and ordering -- bypassing the phone order; but then, when I tried to do the same thing, they were far too busy with all of the many orders and ignored me completely as I stood there phone busy signal in hand for another 5-10 minutes. I know they're great people and the place is great, but I left after more than 30 minutes in frustration-- without my coffee my scones or my crêpes. read more

This place has been taunting me since we started going to the co-op across the street, and we finally made it for breakfast. My turkey and cheese crepe was delicious, and they make a solid latte. The boyfriend had a sweet crepe that was also good, but I'm more of a savory crepe gal. Service was... weird. We ordered at the counter, then when our food was ready the server called out the boyfriend's name quite loudly. He stood up to go get the food and nearly crashed into the server who was actually just looking for us to bring it to the table. She didn't bring any silverware, so we asked for some. Turns out it's right by the counter accessible to customers, but she brought some over anyway, which was much appreciated. On the pricey side (basic crepes are $5 and $1 for each topping), but a welcome presence in the neighborhood. read more

Lovely, sunny neighborhood gathering spot with terrific coffee and a warm, attentive staff. My family loves the baked goods and the crepes, though unfortunately there isn't much gluten free for me to nibble on. It's a nice place to sit down and have a coffee while waiting for your train. I see new servers all the time, and that makes me think the pay could be better, but I'm just guessing. I wish they served bagels, but they don't. Crepes are good, but a little bit pricey to me. Coffee is great. It is one of the few meeting points in West Mount Airy and is very loved by the community around, so I guess they're nice and committed. Keep up the good work. And start serving bagels! :) read more

Cute and quirky little breakfast joint situated in a quiet, funky, hippie-ish neighborhood. Crepes are their specialty: they have sweet and savory options, or you can make your own for $5 plus $1 for each ingredient. I ordered one with spinach, tomatoes, Swiss cheese and bacon. Delicious and filling! Mixed greens come on the side for $1 extra. They also serve your standard variety of drinks, coffee, baked goods, etc. Seating inside is a little tight but manageable. Even on a bustling Sunday morning, there seemed to be quick turnover with regard to the tables. Mt. Airy has a lot of aging hippies in vintage teal polartec; also young moms with white infants in unreasonable positions of power (whine, snark, yip) That said, HPC has the best Feng Shui going for it. Nice looking pastries and crepes. I only drink the coffee and sneak in low carb granola bars. I like the people behind the counter and their iPod selections. I like the trains coming and going. Great place to meet or work off a laptop. And for a middle-aged dork like myself, I appreciate that flashy minimally dressed young woman aren't generally around to incite distractions. read more

The coffee is awesome..pick up a pound, I buy all the the biscuits they have to take home every time I'm there and their oh-so-friendly (par for Mt Airy) demeanor is warm and welcoming. Crepes are tasty if you can find seating..better chance when the weather allows the addition of outdoor seats. The ONLY strange thing I would change is the door..can you do something about that slam? So happy I discovered High Point Cafe! On a Sunday morning you'll usually find it at its busiest, but on any day of the week, it's a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a handmade crepe or one of their baked goods. Most recently I stopped in on a rather quiet Monday and I was eager to try one of their crepes, but I was a tad indecisive at first. I was recommended the turkey, apple, and cheddar crepe, so I got that, and it was wonderful, and I am hoping to try more of them soon! It's a shame this cafe is not in my backyard, or I'd be there everyday. read more

My husband and I had lunch, iced tea, and dessert here -- some was good, some was great, some not so much. While they sell gluten free baked goods and rolls (their own, but baked on another site so... not all that fresh), they do not actually use these products to make ANY gluten free meals. I do not eat gluten free, so I enjoyed their crepe (I added spinach, caramelized onions, and goat cheese, and an egg for moisture since they use not even a smattering of sauce) but because it is NOT a buckwheat (traditional) crepe it's not the gluten free option it could be. We had to fashion a gluten free meal for my husband -- bought one of their GF rolls, asked for it to be toasted (just IBS, not Celiac, so didn't have to worry about cross-contamination), had them add sliced turkey, a slice of cheese (cheddar is naturally low-lactose) but, because they only make crepes not sandwiches they do not have ANY mustard or mayo, so I was glad I had a small mustard packet tucked in my purse for just such emergencies. It wasn't enough to moisten up the very dry, crumbly roll, and dry turkey, but at least it was safe food that would not make him sick. The GF chocolate cookie (and all these products are individually wrapped in sealed plastic) was dry, hard, and tasted like Playdough. Not good. Maybe they're better when fresh, but I don't know where or when that happens. Their iced green tea (brewed from scratch, to order, I was told) tasted a bit like coffee or tanins (perhaps over-brewed?), not especially tasty but not awful. However, the saving grace for me was that their (not GF) brownie was perfect -- a chewy chocolaty confection, just the way you crave it. (A small amount of walnuts on top are healthy addition but easily flicked off if you're not a nut fan.) Not undercooked like most brownies are to achieve that chewiness. I also purchased a molasses cookie that I had the next day and, despite being put in a paper (not waxed) sleeve, it did not dry out but stayed moist and delicious. (I do not understand bakeries that don't use waxed bags to retain freshness and protect customer belongings and clothes from seeping fats.) We stopped by their second Mt Airy location because we headed to nearby Weaver's Way (which also sells their GF baked goods at their healthy foods co-op). Staff at both High Points were COMPLETELY clueless about ingredients of what they sell. (I later saw their GF brownie at Weaver's Way, where a printed list of ingredients revealed they use beans and other ingredients that people with IBS (a much larger gluten free consumer base) as well as most Celiacs cannot digest.) It's not clear why they bake and sell gluten free baked goods, and don't actually prepare any gluten free meals for those customers. Perhaps that's why most of the GF baked goods go stale before they sell. We were so excited to find this place, but our expectations were so dashed when we experienced it. So close, but miss-fire on so many cylinders. A story of missed opportunity but a glimmer of hope with those two great (regular) baked goods. read more

OMG the crepes. They also cater - and are super professional. Truly a neighborhood coffee shop where if you forget your wallet odds are the person in front of you will buy your coffee. Major five stars to the High Point 2! I wanted to grab some coffee for my short train ride back to center city and I am so glad I stopped here. The cafe mocha was the perfect temp and so yummy. Of course, I wasn't about to pass up a crepe (they were on sale for $5 today). My friend and I split a lemon dessert crepe. Everything was fresh - we watched them make the crepe in front of us - adding fresh zest and juice. I recommend this place! There's a lot of seating (in and outdoor) - perfect for a relaxing afternoon book/coffee. read more
