I found my Escondido breakfast go-to. I travel for work and the only thing better than trying new places is finding the spots I can return to again and again, even from afar. I liked the food so much I ate breakfast twice, which isn't as gluttonous as it sounds because they offer half portions. The locally roasted coffee was delicious and I tried sparkling espresso for the first time outside my house. I thought I invented that! Small family owned business and people are very nice. They have a few tables inside and fewer outside on the sidewalk. The turkey club is really great! Toasted sourdough bread, freshly carved turkey, bacon (although I get mine without), lettuce, tomato and a homemade sweet mustard. It comes with a shot glass sized rice pilaf and is supposed to come with a pickle, although they forgot it on my most recent visit. I also add avocado. I dinged a star because once I add the avo, this sandwich is $16 and I don't think it's thaaaat epic. Also, a lemonade was priced at $4.25 during my most recent visit and that also seems high for lemons, sugar and water. The first time that I've been here I gave the place one star review and now I'm changing it to five stars I did not had the chance to actually eat the food before because - the place was close - I have a couple of businesses and one of them is nearby Sunnyside kitchen I've been there today I order Panini tuna avocado and cheese and honestly it was delicious!! so never mind what I'm going to say next the food is amazing! As a business owner I know how hard it is to give 100% satisfaction to all of your customers but in this case the restaurant is clean like i never sow before! I looked every single place and it's spotless! The team all the time wearing gloves, smiling and it feel really comfortable to sit there. Only one little problem - time - it's talk nearly 25 minutes to make my food ... yes there was more people there and yes everyone is waiting but 25 minutes for a Panini is a lot of time and WHY I'm saying it? I need to find time for it in the middle of a work day... to go there, buy, wait, eat and be back to the office... maybe try to think about a solution for it, I believe you losing a lot of business because of this and everyone need to have this food its amazing!!! I went to Sunny Side for an early breakfast recently with my friend who lives in Escondido. She had a coupon for a free grilled cheese panini that she wanted to redeem, and this quaint café is located close to where she lives. I had to be at the airport early in the morning to catch a flight, so this was a convenient breakfast option. This mom-and-pop shop is locally owned; there were a few tables inside and a few outdoors as well. My friend and I were the only customers in the store on this early Monday morning. In fact, we came soon after they opened, so it seemed like they were still setting up and gearing up for the day when we walked in. The menu is somewhat limited, but there are still plenty of options to choose from. There's a broader selection when it comes to lunch, and bite-sized cookies are also available. It didn't take us too long to choose what we wanted for breakfast, and our paninis came out in no time. I loved the feel of this small eatery, and I would definitely be back again for breakfast or even for lunch. Yelp tip: check in on Yelp and get a free bite-sized cookie. They weren't ready when we first got to the eatery, but they were fresh out of the oven by the time my friend and I were done dining. The lady was nice enough to give us two cookies to enjoy ... and you don't even have to feel guilty about eating them because they really are tiny. "Gourmet Grilled Cheese": My friend redeemed her coupon for a complimentary grilled cheese sandwich and it was delicious. We split this panini, which is usually available under the lunch section of the menu only. I loved the cheese, which oozed out of the panini with every bite. Having ample cheese in any grilled cheese sandwich is so important. The bread was crispy and toasted to a golden brown, but it wasn't overly hard. This was a perfectly satisfactory grilled cheese and if I ever returned for lunch, I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. "Mocha": My friend got a regular coffee, but I got a mocha with soy (so grateful that they have soy/almond options available). I often get cold drinks when it comes to iced coffee/blended options, but since the morning was cooler, I wanted something hot. The mocha was delicious and chocolaty; it truly hit the spot in the morning. Plus, I didn't have to worry about having an upset stomach because they had the milk options that I needed. read more

Yay five stars because this place is what I would want my lil cafe to look and taste like if I had one. I love the bright colors and the happy greeters as soon as you walk in. Its mom and pop and you can tell right away, in a good way. Feels very homey and the menu is super simple. They offer fresh ingredients with homemade quality. We dined in and had really cute eclectic dishwear, even the iced tea I had was brewed fresh, with extra fresh lemons. The owner makes sure you are completely happy and does most of the cooking herself. I also had the bitesized cookies and they are like little bites of heaven in your mouth. Well, for me they were. I found out about Sunny Side through a local deal site that had a $20 worth of food for $10. There was an additional $5 off promo code to sweeten the deal. My wife was having her car serviced in Escondido so we stopped by Sunny Side for an early lunch. Street parking was easy for us to find on Saturday with spots nearby their restaurant. My wife and I ordered at the counter which included "the works" brekfast panini, tuscan chicken panini, coffee and a lemonade. There are a handful of tables and some additional stools. Our food came out pretty quickly. My wife and I both enjoyed our panini's. The breakfast panini came with a small side of fruit and my panini came with a small side of orzo. I also enjoyed my lemonade which was refreshing on a hot day. The service was great during our visit. One of the owners brought over some of the mini cookies for us to sample which were really good and we ended up chatting for a few minutes before leaving. Value for us was excellent with our voucher. We will be coming back. Next time I will probably try their club which was listed in the restaurant but I didn't see it on their website menu. read more

Everything was made to order, and the two owners were both there; they and the cashier were all extremely friendly and made sure to ask us how everything was. This is the truest version of a family owned shop. The food is excellent and made to order right in front of you. The grill is always ready, the soups (served during the week) are just the right level of hot, and the bite size cookies are superb. The menu itself consists mostly of sandwiches based around their grilled cheese panini. They also serve gluten free muffins and a quiche. They also have a handful of salads, and a few cold sandwiches. Drinks are everything from craft coffee and Italian sodas, to fresh lemonade and Arnold Palmer. (the Arnold Palmer is a personal favorite). The place is small, but that lends itself to its quaint family feel. There is also a small amount of patio seating. So I have to say my boyfriend hates Panini's but it's one of the only places open near Grand Avenue early in the morning so I talked him into going. He ordered the Escondido hot and I ordered the California club. We both got halves and they came with a little cup of fruit and they even gave us a free cookie to try. I took a little while for food to come out but it was well worth the wait. My BF even said it was good enough to get him back there for another one.
