The reviews are correct, this is a sweet little place where things are hand made and fresh. We had a Cobb salad that was great and a tuna melt panini which I was I had gotten a whole instead of a half it was so good. My son got a turkey bacon sandwich that was very good and the tomatoes were so red and sweet, I hate tomatoes and I ate them off of his sandwich. They made My Arnold palmer fresh and to order. The little cookies were very good. The monster cookie was the best. We got three for a $1 which was perfect. Great to find a gluten-free restaurant I can take my mom to. read more

The Tuscan Chicken Panini is downright crave-able. You can do half panini if you're not super hungry but I mowed a full at lunch and was blissfully happy. This place is adorable! Great service, and fantastic food. I come all the way from Encinitas to eat here. The gluten free bread for the paninis is incredible, as well as the gluten free muffin. Finally got to try this place today. Had half meatloaf panini - it was grilled to perfection and very tasty. The meatloaf itself was very good, but a bit loose inside the bread. The meatloaf Could have been a bit more dense and more thick - wonderful grilled bread. But the flavors were outstanding. I will have to try the tuna melt or grilled cheese with soup next. Stumbled across this little café a few weeks ago and forgot to write a review! I'm vegan and was super stoked to find the veggie sandwich they had on the menu. It was very tasty! The place is small and really cute and has a homely hole in the wall kind of feel. There was some beautiful chalkboard are outside, a few small tables outside if you have a dog with you, and the inside I remember yellow paint very cheery. The kitchen is kind of right in the middle of the room and you can see the staff working. The owner was there cooking. The whole staff was busting their ass and they did a great job. Everyone was really nice and helpful. The owner even gave us a few free cookies because it was our first time in.Definitely going to save this location for any time I'm in Escondido! I first heard about Sunny Side Kitchen at a Yelp Halloween event in October 2015 - not sure why it's taken me this long to try it out. The restaurant is a small, casual, cute little cafe with super friendly staff. I ordered lunch for a group of us online, paid when I arrived and only had to wait 3-4 mins for the food. I ordered the bacon avocado panini - wow, super yummy! I loved the herby bread - sandwich was perfectly cheesy with a good amount of bacon and avocado. The sandwich was a good size and I like that they give you the option to order a whole or half sandwich - I got the whole for $9. I also ordered 18 of the bite sized cookies ($5) for our group - these are amazing and the perfect portion. Favorite was the chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips. So I wanted to shop local today instead of giving my money to a big coffee shop. I stopped by this place for food as well. I was very underwhelmed with this place. They gave me an unprepared "avocado toast" , it was just pieces of hard bread with the smallest side of unseasoned avocado in a container. I mean if I knew it was going to be that I would not have wasted my money on that. That is not an avocado toast. Now the oatmeal. It was flavor less & soggy & just watery. Cute lil mom n pop shop! I will always gladly support small businesses, even though sometimes it can cost more. The people that work here really made my experience fantastic. It was my first time here and I got the breakfast panini with everything. I ate the whole thing but I probably should've only ate half but it was delicious. Sometimes panini's have too much oil on it but this panini was great. With their paninis I believe the cashier told me that they put three kinds of cheeses in it and the outside is crusted with Parmesan and Italian seasoning. At the end of my visit, i ran into the owner and she was very nice. The cookies they have are delicious! I grabbed a few on my way out. I highly recommend the cookie that was either named "delicious" or "wonderful", i don't remember but it had walnuts in it and it was wonderfully delicious! read more

In my desperate attempt to find gluten free foods, I turned to Yelp to locate something close to my temporary of Escondido. Not only does SSK have GF bread they also have the most glorious GF muffins I've ever tasted. While they can be a bit pricey it is worth every penny to be able to indulge in these sweet treats while still maintaining my GF lifestyle. They use the same herbed bread for both the breakfast and lunch sammies and yet, somehow it works for both eggs and chicken items. The customer service is always super friendly and helpful. Sadly my time in Esco is coming to an end this next week however, I will still be happy to make the extra drive out the next time my muffin craving strikes. We went to this great little Mom and Pop shop today for the first time. They have a great mani with lots of options. We were greeted with smiles and kind offers of help if we had any questions on the menu. We ordered at the counter and got a great lunch made from scratch. I had a strawberry salad that was just like I would make at home with fresh ingredients (I'm a salad snob). It was so delicious. It had strawberries, feta (I substituted that over the blue cheese) slivered almonds, chicken, fresh sliced strawberries and a great vinaigrette (I think it was strawberry) My friend had a Caesar salad (I'm getting that next time, looked amazing) and a mushroom soup of the day. We sat outside at a nice little table and enjoyed our lunch and beautiful weather Also a great glass of black iced tea! Very friendly and wonderful service. Can't wait to go back! read more
