Food was delicious! I had a the green chile quiche and my son ordered The Works. It came with a little seasonal fruit cup that was perfect size. Wish we lived closer so we could come here more often.

In top of a relax environment you'll enjoy a fantastic food. All run for local family over many years. If you're in a rush just swing by and grab a cup of coffee. You'll miss the best panini though, but that's OK. Just start you day with a welcoming smile!

The grilled sandwiches here are good, but kinda pricey for what you get. I ordered the wake up Escondido full sandwich. It tasted great but it was lacking filling, not much chicken and more sauce than anything. It was almost $20 for this breakfast panini that came with a small side of fruit. I also tried their strawberry lemonade and strawberry salad. Very tasty as well. Service was okay, this place is tiny and it was starting to become packed with the lunch time crowd, so we asked for our order to go. I may give them another try if I am in the area.

I just started working in Escondido and finally tried Sunny Side Kitchen. Honestly, the food feels like a hug. the grilled cheese and tomato soup combo was delicious and made my day. It's a local family-owned spot and I got to meet the owner, Bob, who was so nice. The whole staff is sweet and you can really tell they put a lot of love into the place. I'll definitely be back!

Worth the hype!!! Everything is so fresh, the bread is phenomenal, the eggs are perfectly cooked. Chefs kiss for "the works" breakfast panini. The staff is also so sweet and it's just a cute local vibe. 100% would go again!

There's a reason that Sunny Side Kitchen is consistently one of the best restaurants - they never disappoint! I highly suggest giving the Tuscan chicken panini on sourdough a try. That with the orzo salad on the side and you'll have no regrets.

This place made Yelp's best places list and in summation it's easy to see why: everything is simple but done well. We had two of their breakfast paninis. The works and the good day sunshine. The real star of both of these were the bread and the cheese they melted on top of it. Everything else alone was good but together it was done really well. This isn't a fancy place. It's your go-to for a tasty breakfast sandwich and a coffee. It's where you stop by with a coworker during lunch. It's where you swing by to grab your mom some food on your way to visit (and when you walk in everyone recognizes you and tells you to tell her 'hi'). This is a local joint - and for the record we aren't from around here we just stopped on our way during our travels. But the entire time the service was friendly and fast and everyone said hello to the locals. All in all solid. Wish there were more places like this. Ps we went during the middle of the day so there wasn't a big wait but there are 5 tables inside and probably three outside so I can foresee it getting busy during weekends. Plenty of street parking and a lot across the way.

Great food and service just a bit pricey. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich and soup as did my colleague. But you're going to pay about $15 for a combo meal and for my value conscious approach to dining out it's just a bit too rich for it to be a "go to" spot. I wish they had an inexpensive $5 sandwich. But fresh ingredients, quick and friendly service and...fresh ingredients! I go 4/5 stars due to it being a bit pricey and the dining area is quite small. read more

Im all for Mom and Pop restaurants. please keep them coming! This place has been my go to place for lunch . So many fresh satisfying flavors in 1 sandwich and soup. Whatever sauce that you put in your Tuscan, Is amazing! If your lucky enough to get the soup of the day try the Chili. This by far has been my favorite chill I have ever had especially in the summer. Had fresh coffee and the avocado, egg, and cheese panini for myself. For my kiddos, a cup of fruit, a side of bacon, and a couple of muffins (carrot cake and coconut chocolate chip). Everything was delicious Their service was excellent, they were very helpful and considerate as it was my first time. There is some seating available inside, and they also have a few outside tables. Sunny side is a small place by grand in Escondido. It was hard to notice but I'm glad I Found it. I've been here twice so far and both have been a great experience. The first time I got the breakfast bacon, egg and cheese panini. The second time I got the bacon and avocado panini. They were both delicious. I loveee the bread they use! It's nice and crispy and seasoned. The employees there are great. They are so friendly and helpful. I haven't tried anything else on the menu but I plan on going back! read more

This place is so great. It's hard to find nice coffee shops with good food and amazing choices, that change daily! I'm from San Marcos but this will forsure be a weekly work spot for me to get out for a little and change it up. Freshly squeezed lemonades, amazing daily soups and changing quiches! This is definitely one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. They definitely deserve to be on the "Top 100 places on Yelp"!! Their Paninis are like no other. Eggs are perfectly done, and the bacon is cooked to perfection as well, not too greasy and not too dry. Best panini's in San Diego county! If you haven't been here before then you need to try it. Their seasoned panini bread is amazing. They're cookies are fresh and delicious (buy a dozen (or three!) of the mini cookies when you come, you won't regret it). And their chai tea latte is one of the best we've ever had (we get them everywhere, this one is great. Lastly, the staff and owners are really kind, good people. Love this spot. read more

I know it's very common for people to say"this was the best" and are speaking in hyperbole, but in all honesty I had the california panini from the breakfast menu and it was the best panini I've ever tasted, seriously from the first bite I was surprised how good a panini could taste. Everything was well balanced, not greasy, crunchy and tasty bread (toasted to perfection). Every ingrediant in the sandwhich taste so fresh and flavorful. The gentleman who took my order was cordial and recommended a delicious blood orange drink, which if you like sweet drinks don't get it or ask them to add sugar or something because it isn't sweet but I don't like sweet drinks and this had such a lovely subtle flavor throughout, so refreshing. I'm definitely coming back here! Negatives- it's a bit small and cramped and there isn't much parking around but it's so so so worth the trouble. read more

My co-worker brought in their bite-sized cookies one day and I definitely ate more than one. I love chocolate chip cookies and theirs are delicious! I've ordered from there a couple of times now and I've enjoyed it all. Their strawberry oatmeal has just the right amount of sweetness thanks to the cinnamon and strawberries. Their paninis are also flavorful. They cook as soon as you order so you know it's fresh. The works breakfast sandwich was excellent. It comes with all that is great in this world - bacon, eggs, avo, cheese, fresh sourdough bread. It had that home cooked breakfast flavor, which as anyone knows is hard to beat. I'd highly recommend stopping here for some breakfast. This place is amazing - in addition to having some of the best paninis I've ever eaten, they have the friendliest owners and a nice homey atmosphere. They actually won a Yelp award for top 100 places to eat in the nation. The only negative is that sometimes the seating is a bit too limited, but that's just part of the package deal. If you live in Esco and haven't been here yet, you are really missing out. read more

Sunny Side Kitchen Panini, soups, salads, cookies and craft beverages highlight breakfast and lunch menu. Gluten free selections also available. Sunny Side Kitchen, mobile food specialists throughout San Diego since 2012, opened a restaurant in North County in 2015. Located in historic downtown Escondido, at 155 S. Orange St., between Second and Grand, the casual café offers breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday). "This is an exciting place for us," said Kate Carpenter, owner with her husband, Bob Carpenter. Meet the Business Owner: Kate C.

Kate is a native Southern Californian and a graduate of San Diego State University. After nearly three decades of working in journalism and PR, she decided to switch gears and start a food business. Sunny Side Kitchen was born in 2011, specializing in small-batch, hand-crafted cookies and gluten-free treats. In 2012 Kate expanded Sunny Side Kitchen to include gourmet panini sandwiches made to order at local farmers' markets and special events, including several craft breweries. In 2015 a small cafe was opened in Escondido. Sunny Side Kitchen serves panini, salads, soup, and of course awesome baked goods!

For a Thursday, almost every seat was filled, so we sat at the high benches counter and had a lovely view of the Downtown street happenings. It was more than we could've expected. Chalkboard menu, home made kombucha & by the glass fresh squeezed lemonade. We split the Works panini & a strawberry parfait. (They are big on their panini's). Not a Waffle House type of place. Greeted by a nice man. I orders grilled cheese lunch special. It was delish but my husbands Tuscan chicken panini was way better. The grilled cheese was pretty flat. As in not much cheese and you get a small side salad. They should make any half sandwich with a salad. Portions small for the price. My husbands sandwich came with some cold rice which was good but basically only about two bites worth. We had to wait a long time for lunch with one family in front of us.
