I happened to be in Escondido the other day and decided to check out Sunny Side Kitchen. What a great choice! Their menu is a bit of everything - salads, quinoa, paninis, and breakfast items. I really enjoyed how every item was offered in half portions... This allowed me to try two half sandwiches. My wife ordered the quinoa salad and I ordered a turkey panini and a chicken ranch panini special. There's not much to say about the food besides the fact that it was incredibly delicious. My fiancé and I were driving to San Diego and decided to stop by this little place. We are glad we did! I tend to like healthy food but my fiancé doesn't really like healthy :/ BUT he loved his bacon avocado panini with chicken!!!! He said it was super delicious I ordered the meatloaf panini and it was also delicious The bread was nice and crispy and the cheese nicely melted. It came with a little side which I am not sure what it is but it didn't really have a taste. We got a side of fruit which came with strawberries, bananas, grapes, pineapple, and cantaloupe. We also got homemade brownies and let me tell you, they were YUMMY Crispy on the edges and moist in the middle!!! We are glad we got 3! The only thing we would have liked to have with our panini, is sweet potato fries :/ but that is our preference. Overall GREAT! and a must if you are passing by this place! What an adorable place! The family vibes are awesome. Upon arriving, I found some decent parking across the street in a lot. Crossing was easy since the store is on a pretty small street. My sister and I were greeted warmly by the cashier while the rest of the family hustled away in the busy cafe. We lived the ascetic, they had cool local art on the walls and some branded nicknacks. We bought a coffee mug: at only $5, we had no choice but to support this wonderful place! We ordered some gluten free mini cookies, their locally crafted kombucha, $5 for 20oz was such an amazing deal and it tasted great. I got the half capreze sandwich which was delicious! My sister got espresso which was served up in adorable multi colored ceramics. I'm so happy a wonderful place like this exists read more

I ordered the egg cheese and avocado breakfast panini. The portion was fair for the price but if you are really hungry this will not satisfy you. The bread was perfectly toasted and the egg was well done which was different than your normal scrambled egg panini. I also ordered a chai tea latte and it was VERY watered down. I felt like I was drinking water and sugar. Not worth 4 dollars. I purchased their coconut and chocolate muffin and it was very delicious if you like coconut. This is my first time here. It was recommended to me by someone who works here, and she was doing me a favor by recommending it. It is small and cute, with a menu of panini, sandwiches, soup, salad and a variety of coffees. They offer gluten-free bread and gf crustless quiches, as well as delicious bite sized cookies, which I highly recommend. Everything is craft and made by hand, and you can tell. I am a little bit of a picky eater, but I had no problems, and they made my very good meat loaf panini with some sweet ketchup just the way I wanted it (without onions). My friends enjoyed the bacon and avocado panini as well, and half sandwiches are available. The people are nice, friendly and unpretentious. I felt at home here and observed a variety of customers. Their menu is pretty straight forward, mostly Panini style sandwiches. I love breakfast sandwiches and these didn't disappoint. My only recommendation for this place would be to make scrambled eggs or omelet-style eggs in addition to their unique approach. Someone in my group only eats scrambled eggs and they were disappointed. We bought extra tuna sandwiches to take to the Wild Animal Park which was about 12 minutes away. This morning, after a hair salvation trip to McGlincy's up the street, I decided to stop in for some breakfast. As usual, I was delighted. I apologize for not taking food porn pictures to accompany this review. Truly, seeing the dishes that Kate and Bob create will create a need to visit. I ordered a salad off menu, but given Kate's description (turkey, dried cranberries, bleu cheese, candied pecans, and a cranberry vinaigrette dressing), I decided to give it a go. I ordered a full size portion, figuring I'd nurse it throughout the day. It was gone in one sitting, it was that good. I've had the other salads in the past, and they are all fabulous. Truly, you can't go wrong. I also ordered a breakfast panini, with egg, bacon and cheese to take home to my kids. My daughter devoured her half so fast I questioned if I'd ordered it! My son took his to work as a lunch meal. We all love those breakfast panini's. I don't know what the secret is, but Kate and Bob have found it and infused it into every panini. The meatloaf panini? That is seriously one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I didn't order it today because I was branching out. To really push the envelope, I decided to take a cue from Bill at McGlincy's Salon and get some soup. I really appreciate a good soup, and Sunny Side Kitchen's offerings change daily. Today, the soup du jour was Clam Chowder. I got home, and one spoonful in, I couldn't stop myself...I actually said, "mmmm, oh yeah." Yup, I went there. Audibly moaning about something being so good is a new one for me, but the soup was moan-worthy. This was the first time I've had soup at SSK; it won't be the last. Long past due review! I come here in a pinch (cause I work in coffee) and these people are always so sweet and helpful! Their paninis are delicious and their bite size cookies are yummy too! I go for the cold brew but my sister loves it with caramel and cream, both tasty!!! They made this tiny spot a nice hide away for a great coffee shop! Thanks for bringing local coffee to the area! Stopped in for breakfast. Was really looking for some eggs and potatoes kind of breakfast and if that's what you want this isn't the place for you. Oatmeal, quiche and breakfast sandwiches are what's on the menu here as well as a variety of coffees. Orange juice is freshly squeezed per order The place is tiny. Seats about 10 inside but there are tables outside, front and back, to accommodate larger groups. I ordered the mushroom quiche. It was served with a small side if fresh fruit. They quiche is heated in an actual oven so I was told upfront the wait would be about 20 minutes. I grabbed the local paper, played games in my iPhone and waited. It was well worth the wait. The quiche was delicious. I can't remember when, if ever, I've had better. The fruit was all ripe and strawberries were sweet. I brought my own coffee so I didn't have the opportunity to sample theirs. I'll be back, next time for lunch. Paninis are their specialty and I look forward to trying them. I am sorry to leave a satisfactory review but I was disappointed with the sandwich I ordered considering the cost. It cost close to $17.00 and was no where worth that price. It was a to go order and was a turkey club and there was not much to it. If I had known it was that skimpy, I would not of ordered it, even the side pickle was ridiculous. One of us tried the avocado cheese breakfast panini - only option at breakfast is a half sandwich which is not really enough for a young man. Order two or add something else. All entrees came with the tiniest side of fruit I've seen in my life. 4 stars for quality of food. I'd give 2-3 for portion size. And menu options. Would love to see some mega muffins available not the two regular non- exciting ones they had displayed. Lunch menu looks good/ gluten free options available which I need. Such a great spot to grab a breakfast sandwich. The sign outside said it was voted one of the top places to eat for 2017 on Yelp, and I can see why. Just tried "the works" panini which comes with egg, bacon, cheese, and avocado. The bread was crunchy and tasted like it was cooked with rosemary and cheese - it's an upgrade from the usual plain bread you'd get at other spots. It came with a small fruit cup too, which had more than just honeydew and cantaloupe in it; something else you don't find at many places any more. I got their standard pour over coffee, but it looked like they had some great flavored and blended drinks available. The table next to us got a mocha and after seeing it, I've got to try it next time. Their cinnamon rolls and pastries all sounded great, and they had mini cookies by the register for 50 cents each...I left with a list of things I want to try on my next visit, which isn't something that happens to me with many places. I've been here twice and had a tuna sandwich both times so that's all I can speak to. Very good sandwich and very friendly atmosphere. You can sit outside and order on your phone with a QR code and they bring your food out to you! Super easy. I don't care for the side dish of orzo pasta salad. I had really high expectations coming here based on all of the great yelp reviews. Unfortunately for me it was just OK. I love the whole set up of the place, it's literally like your sitting in their kitchen while they prepare the food- it's very small and everyone is very close to one another. The service was great, everyone really nice and VERY busy in the kitchen for the lunch hour rush. On to the food - I ordered a breakfast panini (egg,avocado, & cheese) and also a lemonade on the side. I saw that they were offering cheesy cauliflower soup as the soup of the day and that sounded yummy so I decided to add that on as well since the breakfast panini is only HALF a sandwich. -The panini was ok, the bread itself was DELICIOUS, but the avocado wasn't the freshest. -The Cauliflower soup I wasn't a fan of. It tasted kind of like burnt milk and I didn't even finish it. -The lemonade had pretty much NO flavor, I wanted to throw in like 10 packs of sugar to get it to my liking. Overall, I'm glad I tried this place since it's so close to my work, but it wasn't anything special to me, where as I would want to come running back.
