She was so kind and patient and made my son very comfortable, we saw Dr. Anaïs and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She was wonderful. She talked to my son through the whole procedure and and my son didn't feel a thing, she was great. I highly recommend Sunny smiles. They even gave him tokens to pick a toy and a golf and stuff certificate!. Everyone is so kind from the front office to the back. Definitely a great experience. read more

Parents do yourself a favor. Any information regarding what insurance they take, get a name and signed paper saying it is true. We asked last enrollment what insurance they take and the front counter said Delta, so we got delta. Come to find out they won't take a certain type of delta insurance? Wrote an email to speak to the insurance coordinator. No response or return call. While the dentist are great, the front office makes it a horrible place. Now we can't renew our insurance until next enrollment and we are stuck paying heavily on services for our kids. I've always been taught if you don't know something for sure, get back to the person or say I don't know. I guess common sense is gone with this place. read more

I am a mother with a 2.5 (almost) 3-year-old. I was referred to Sunny Smiles Dentistry through my pediatrician from Kaiser. When you first walk in, the office is adorned with kid toys! It's a kid-friendly waiting room ... with a TV, some small video games, puzzles, etc. I think they did a good job with the waiting room. My disappointment with Dr. Sunny comes from his horrible bedside manner. I'm not one to respond well with "fear" tactics or sharing negative news in front of my daughter, and telling me the trauma I will incur from my daughter's dental care. (back story): My daughter sucks a pacifier, and I have been working on trying to wean her off the pacifier. We brush her teeth daily, and we also floss! We're very diligent about brushing. However, I knew that I had to rid her of the pacifier sooner than later. Wtih that being said, we went to Dr. Sunny & he asked after her teeth cleaning, "Do you have any concerns?" and I just mentioned "I know the paci is a concern and we're working on getting her off of it." He then goes down the rabbit hole ... - She has a HORRIBLE cross-over bite that she most likely will NOT EVER come back from & will require orthodontal care in the future. - Her tongue thrust is the BIGGEST concern and will cause you and her A LOT OF TRAUMA in the future, since she could have to do myofascial therapy, and ultimately her speech, eating, and entire mouth can be distorted, which will be hard to come back from. - Her overbite is so severe that there might not be coming back from that. We can ONLY HOPE that it will self-correct. I understand that there's truth in all that he said ... but pull me aside, my daughter hears and understands what you're saying & if you're saying it to THIS EXTREME, pull me aside. My husband was there too, so he could have easily asked him to wait outside with my daughter. Like WTF. He kept REPEATING IT OVER AND OVER ... as if I didn't understand him. It felt like he was kicking a dead horse when it was already down. I walked away feeling defeated, and sad, and sobbed when I got home. I feel like he could have addressed these issues in such a better way! My suggestion ... and I'm not even a doctor, maybe you could have positioned it like, "Your daughter has a severe cross-bite and overbite, let's work together to remove the paci immediately. Let me know what resources you need to feel supported, but this is essential for her health and well-being." WORK ON YOUR BEDSIDE MANNER, DR. SUNNY! You've lost a patient. read more

CAUTION TO ALL PARENTS!!! This place may look cute and inviting for kids, but the prices are astronomical. For just a few fillings on my 4-year-old son's back teeth, with general anesthesia (which is for baby teeth that will fall out by the time he's around 9), the estimated cost was over $4,000--and that's with PPO insurance! It's no joke at this place. They seem more focused on taking your money than providing reasonable care. We went in for a simple check-up with NO x-rays, and the dentist immediately gave us an assessment and sent us straight to Anita, the financial coordinator. As one other reviewer mentioned, he loved the care but felt like he had to take out a mini-mortgage. No doubt about that. We're talking about fillings on back teeth with general anesthesia for a small child. I nearly fainted when I heard the price!!!! read more

By far, the best pediatric dental experience we've had in a long time. I recently switched my two boys to Sunny Smiles from another local pediatric office. I'm so grateful I did!! A little back story- My younger son, who's 4 years old, has sensory difficulties. He does NOT do well with instruments in his mouth or loud noises. I've always had to request extra time for cleanings so we can prep him but no matter what we did, he was uncooperative. Unfortunately, he's had two cavities on the very front teeth for over 9 months that began to cause discomfort. The other office refused to do anything so I wanted a second opinion and found Sunny Smiles. I was instantly greeted with exceptional customer service as soon as I called Sunny Smiles as new patients. Sabrina and Cat at the front desk are phenomenal! Their hygienist, Marisol, is also phenomenal! She was able to get my little one's cleaning done in under 20 minutes. For me, this is unbelievable given the fact that it usually took an hour at the previous office. She was very kind and gentle with him. She got him comfortable enough to allow her to floss his teeth, get the cleaning done, and place fluoride. She was even able to get 2 x-rays done on the front teeth. At the beginning of our visit, my son would not speak- he would just nod whenever Marisol would ask him questions. By the end of our visit, he was vocal with his answers and thanked her. Lastly, Dr. Linda is amazing! She's very understanding and kind. She listened to my concerns, gave great solutions, and strategies on getting them done. She confirmed my concerns on the severity of the cavities and recommended treatment. She was very optimistic with getting them filled and prescribed an oral sedation pill so he can be a little calm and less anxious. I highly recommend Sunny Smiles! read more

We saw Dr Tran for the first dentist visit. The office staff was very friendly with good communication. Dr Tran made sure I was very comfortable with everything going on and did an amazing job with my child. It wasn't a tear free visit but she was fast, thorough and kind with my child. Couldn't recommend Sunny Smiles enough! The whole staff was very friendly, from Kathy who I spoke with to setup an appointment, to the assistant that answered any questions I had. I brought my 1.5 yr old for an initial checkup exam with dr sunny. He made us feel comfortable and addressed her oral assessment and more! The exam was done with her in my lap, & she given a toy and goody bag! Plus she thought the murals on the walls were pretty cool! They are following all the covid protocols and we felt safe being in their office. It's important to me that my daughter has good dental experiences & I'm glad we found an office she can grow up in. I have been taking my 5 year old son to see Dr. Sunny since he was 12 months old. My daughter, 2, has seen both Dr. Tran & Dr. Joe since 12 months of age. I can't say enough good things about the entire staff and the doctors at Sunny Smiles! From making appointments, to checking in and checking out, my experience has always been positive. Each doctor and their support staff is incredibly caring, patient and knows just how to talk with and encourage their patients. I have found each doctor takes plenty of time with my kids and I, is sure to thoroughly explain things and answer any/all questions that I have. The whole dentist experience has been a positive one for my kids.Visitors are welcomed into a bright and colorfully painted lobby with an indoor play structure, books, puzzles and a tv playing animated movies. The reception staff is attentive, professional, warm and inviting. Patients are treated to overhead videos with cartoons (a big treat for my kids) when sitting in the dentist chairs and they are rewarded with a little gift post-appointment. These 'little' things really make a difference with the kids. Up until a month ago, our visits were limited to routine check-up every 6 months. However, my 2 year old took a fall face-first into the sidewalk. I was able to have a doctor see her within an hour of her fall...and it would have likely been sooner but her fall happened during the lunch hour. We saw Dr. Joe and he was wonderful, reassuring and super informative. We have subsequently have two additional follow-ups and I couldn't be happier with our experience. I do not have dental insurance. I do have access to Dentical benefits. I have chosen NOT to go the DentiCal route because I am so happy with Sunny Smiles, I am willing to pay out of pocket. It is so important to get your kids into the dentist as soon as they start to get teeth. Not only so you can ensure their dental health stays on track BUT, in my opinion, so your child does not grow up AFRAID of the dentist. I have 5 kids and all of them started at the dentist at around 6months old. In one case, even though I was brushing and doing everything right, due to a hereditary issue one of my babies first two teeth started to go soft which put it at risk for cavities early. Because we caught it early we were able to prevent a cavity from forming and my now 14 year old has never had a cavity.. My currents 2 years old triplets have come here since they were about one and we keep to the 6 month schedule... They love playing in the kid area and for now tolerate the dentists with a little crying but not screaming and kicking because they are getting use to our trips here... We love this office and would recommend it to anyone with kids!! Update: - They are now three and had their first cleaning. All three jumped in the seat, put on the glasses and opened their mouths with no issues. Zero crying, zero asking for mom. I only write reviews if my experience was either really good or really bad! In this case it was really good! I was in a rush to get my 5 year old seen by a dentist because it is now a requirement before registering for Kinder. I was able to get into sunny smiles the next day which was awesome! The gentleman that scheduled my appt and took my insurance info was friendly and efficient. When we arrived at the office my son was so excited to play in the waiting room. Once we got called back our hygienist was great, she explained everything to my son with words he could understand. He needed two fillings and we were able to go back the next day to get the work done. The filling process was probably more painful for me than my son! Dr. Sunny and his staff were great. My son was back to normal just a few hours later. The whole experience has really made both my son and I more aware of how important it is to cut back on snacks and candies and the importance of brushing n flossing frequently. Thank you! read more

Was quite shocked when i received multiple bills for this place. Office said they took my insurance but FAILED to inform me that they were not in my network which ended up costing me... All they had to do was inform me and they would have saved me over $120. Beware, they said due to being specialist dentists, there will be higher fees. Don't see anything special other than them needing extra fees to pay for all the movies/ video game systems etc etc that they provide that is a bit over the top. Will never be back. Why does it cost $55 to bite on two films for a digital x-ray? $67 new patient fee, $44 fluoride fee, $26 intraoral-periapical-1st film.. (wtf?) $26 additional film.... $83 Prophy child thru 13... (again wtf does it even mean) If I were about to charge someone for these expensive items, I sure as hell would make them aware before doing them. thanks for screwing me over Sunny Smiles. read more

My 6-year-old son grinds his teeth at night, and he recently started having pain on a tooth where he'd exposed the root/nerve. Dr. Sunny suggested we come in to remove the (baby) tooth if it got bad, which it did a few weeks later. They were kind enough to schedule a quick noon appointment, even though they had their monthly staff birthday luncheon that day. When we walked in, a dozen or more employees, lunch plates in hand, greeted us with cheers and welcomes -- it felt like a party just for us! Dr. Sunny took his time prepping my son (picking out a favorite movie to watch, applying gum-numbing cream, explaining what was going to happen, etc.), and the extractions were finished before we knew it. The office is beautifully decorated with murals, all the staff members we encountered were delightful, and Dr. Sunny is SO GOOD with kids. It's worth the drive from Camarillo! read more

Dr. Sunny and his entire staff are incredibly kind, friendly, compassionate, professional and sympathetic to my children's and my needs. They know how to make us feel comfortable and not judge or place blame. The office is absolutely, positively kid friendly. All the walls are fun murals. There are books, toys, and puzzles in the waiting room as well as a large flat screen TV playing a kid friendly movie. The list of movies for kids to choose to watch in their room is two solid pages long. The flat screen TVs are mounted above the chairs at an angle the kids can watch and take their minds off of the care being performed on them. The staff sends you a text to confirm your appointment. I am grateful Dr. Sunny is here in Ventura. He opened a second office in Oxnard as well. No need to look any further for a competent pediatric dental team. You will not be disappointed. read more
