Horrible customer service from Iwa. Paid for $60 for 1 hour, 15 minutes into massage she leaves because more customers came in. She puts them in rooms and tells me she can only do 30 minutes now because they are busy. I asked her why she didn't tell the other people to come back later. This place is 50 shades of grey. I've been to tons of Asian foot massage places in LA, SF, San Diego and everywhere in between and this place is one of the shadiest establishments out of all of them. Just read some of the other reviews and you'll get the gist of it. First of all, it has a strange vibe the moment you walk in. There are about 25 photos of women on the wall (their masseuses) and they are all individually posing in quite seductive poses. It almost seems like it's a board for certain customers to "choose" who they want. Not sure what this is all about, but if I were to guess.... Secondly, they NEVER give you a full hour massage even when you pay for it. The first time I came here it was only 45 minutes. The second time (yes, I gave it another chance) and it was 50 minutes. Thirdly, I can understand you. I was getting a massage with my friend and about a half hour into it, the masseuse says in Chinese "I think they're asleep..." and they begin to talk and STOP massaging. I managed to arrange a one hour body massage.. I tell her I don't want a guy since I don't like too much pressure... there are no girls available. The massage was terrible, no technique what so ever... Just some pulling and mashing on my sore muscles... one day after I am in more pain than before.... They use cheap oils, and cheaper lotion... A total waist of time, and made me feel uncomfortable for the whole hour.... Dissatisfied I walk out of the room to sign my receipt and hand the guy 6dlls... I was reluctant to tip at all, but I figure It might be having a bad day and it wasn't all his fault... But then to add insult to injury he said: "Oh I'm sorry excuse me.. you are supposed to tip $10 minimum... My jaw dropped" I was going to have an argument about the whole reason behind tipping etiquette, but since anyone there barely speaks English I figure I'm just wasting my breath.. I have had many massages before and this was definitely the worst. I had a groupon for an hour massage and purchased one for my boyfriend as a gift. We went together and I was pleasantly surprised they offered off the bat to put us in the same room, some places want to charge extra for a couple's massage so I appreciated that. Once the massage began, my masseuse was VERY heavy handed. Sometimes it felt good, sometimes it was definitely too much. My boyfriend felt the same way about the massage. He tensed up when his masseuse was being too rough and she sort of barked at him to "relax." The two masseuses spoke to each other through nearly the entire massage which made it very hard to relax. The real kicker? My masseuse FARTED twice, very loudly, during my massage. I understand that sometimes nature calls and maybe that will just sort of happen but he didn't even say excuse me! Had he and the other masseuse not spoken through the entire massage, maybe that wouldn't seem so bad. But if you've already talked through the whole thing at least apologize for your flatulence. Did I mention it happened while he massaged my shoulders? As in his seat is directly in front of my face. I really didn't appreciate the lack of apology, the flatulence, the overly heavy handedness, or the weird technique of massage. This was unlike any other massage I've ever had. I walked in, was coldly greeted by the receptionist, and was taken back to the massage room by my masseuse. Being a restaurant server, I asked for extra attention to my calves and forearms, thinking they would still do some massaging on my back or shoulders. I've been myself, as a long time fan of good deep tissue massage, and the primary masseuse is a woman who knows nothing of massage therapy and is there to be friendly but take your money and get to what she's theres for asap. I went to Sunny Spa this afternoon at about 1:45 I had a massage with Mimi. She did not give a very good massage to start with. She did not use any oils or lotions. She didn't ask what I wanted in terms of type of massage (pressure or if there was anything specific to work on) then I guess they were busy because she tried getting me out of there in a half an hour even though I paid for an hour. It didn't seem to matter what I did she just wanted to bring in more money I won't go back. She also left the room at least 3 times to deal with another worker and customers. With plenty of places to get a massage, please keep driving by this one. Truly the customer does not come first, and that is important for a massage. read more

Before coming to Sunny Spa I'll admit I was nervous. I had just bought the Living Social deal for a 1hr full body massage for myself and my girl, so we could try a couples massage. The last thing I wanted was to have a bad first experience. Due to the mediocre rating on yelp, we made sure to scan the negative comments prior to our visit. Contrary to many of the negative reviews, our experience was enjoyable! The spa interior is nicely decorated with a trickling fountain and beige/maroon color scheme. Calming ambiance. Conversing with the receptionist was a little confusing, but probably due to her English. Both of us received our massages from women. The massage started a little on the rougher side, but was very comfortable and relaxing after suggesting a lighter touch. The back and face/head massages were great! We were amazed that we didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned by the other yelpers. I had even timed the massage with a cell phone to ensure we'd receive the full hour. My conclusion is that your experience will vary dramatically depending on the masseuse/masseur. Fortunately our two masseuses were attentive and courteous. After re-reading some of the reviews, it seems like most of the negative experiences resulted from male masseurs. To be honest, I would only recommend a massage with the female masseuses. Given another Living Social / Groupon voucher, I would be back. My take is that this spa has potential! read more

Amazing!! I had the best massages I've ever had. I usually get one twice a month. This place is the tops! Great pressure, wonderful, clean, sterile atmosphere and very well priced. Also has the buy 10 massages and get the 11th free deal. Yoyo is an excellent massage therapist that I highly recommend. I find her to be very present and in tune with her work. She seems to intuitively know what areas to focus on, and I found the massage not only physically relaxing but spiritually replenishing as well. I received a 60 minute massage as a gift from a friend for my birthday. I was super excited because I love getting a massage more than anything in the world. Even food. I called Sunny Spa to schedule the massage for a Wednesday at around 2 pm. SS is in a small strip mall off of Convoy street. I walked in and it was a very nice facility. I walked up to the receptionist and she seemed a bit confused when I presented her with the Living Social voucher I received. I don't know if she didn't speak or understand English well or if she couldn't figure out the voucher. After about 2 other people came to the front desk to figure out the voucher situation I was shown to a room. I was told to take everything off and lay face down. It took a while for the therapist to come in but after he did the massage was very very enjoyable. One thing I will mention is he did not work on my hands or my feet. SO if you go in and you are expecting an amazing foot massage you need to tell them or schedule a reflexology massage appointment. Wow..I'm so pissed..I went in because I started a new job where I'm on my feet all day and wanted a foot massage. I went in and paid for the 90 minute massage. I told them I wanted 100% of the time on my FEET. Long story shirt they spend about 80% of the time on my neck and 20% feet...but that's not the HUM DINGER!!!! Get this sheeeeet... I ALWAYS check the time on my phone and their clock..to make sure I get the full time I paid for... About half way into my massage the lady that was behind the desk when I walked in came into the room and her and the guy that was givin me my massage talked for a minute or so. Then after she left he folded up a small towel and put over my eyes (which I thought was weird because it was already so dark in there)it raised a red flag...so then he started on my feet..a few minutes later I had a weird feeling that someone was in the room with us...I just had THAT feeling..you know what I'm talking about. so I quietly lifted the towel with my eye brows..and guess what?! That lady was tip toeing into the room..she slowly grabbed the clock off the wall..changed the time..then put it back on the wall (I watched the WHOLE thing). I was livid. About 10 minutes later the man said the massage was over. I knew my time had been altered. I checked my phone and sure enough..I was jipped 20 minutes on my massage. So since I had already pre paid I was just going to leave without tipping. I wasn't going to say anythin because I was so mad I was afraid I would whoop some Asian arse. I walked out and both of them were waiting for my by the door..I started walking out and the man stopped me "excuse me, wait!" I turned around ..he said "you saposed to tip us." I said "WHAT?!" "You saposed to tip him" said the lady. I said "did you do the full 90 minutes that I paid for?" They both look at each other and say "yes" like duh. Summary: Overall experience was so ridiculously terrible, it was comical. Would pay $20 to NOT come here again. Out of the approximately dozen foot spas I've tried around San Diego, easily the WORST. Should've paid attention to all their 1 star reviews on yelp. Pro: - Good deal on groupon, $15/1hr foot massage - No line on a Friday afternoon (actually the place was completely empty of customers, as I would soon understand why). Con: - Made an appt, showed up on time, rang the bell, but there was not a single person in the place. After waiting for 10 min in the lobby by myself, a guy returns from a smoke break reeking of cigarette smoke. - Foot bath had about an inch of lukewarm water in it - didn't even cover the top of my feet. - About 7 times during the first 30 min, my "masseur" switched to one hand. Each time I looked, he was on his cell texting. Clearly he thought that was acceptable behavior, as he saw me look at him, but continued texting. I've honestly never felt more uncomfortable during a massage, and he was treating me like some rando interrupting his vacation or something. - 30 min into the massage, I hear him get up, leave, then come back into the room. I kept my eyes closed, assuming he was setting up his supplies or something. After 5 min of sitting there with my eyes closed, I wonder "Did he leave again? I didn't hear anything." I look up, and I literally see him SITTING ON A STOOL WATCHING A CHINESE MOVIE ON HIS PHONE, with subtitles on and volume off!!! You couldn't make this stuff up!!! - At this point, I've finally had enough. I get up to leave, regardless of the groupon I'd already paid for, and HE DEMANDS A TIP!!! Last time I went there to get a massage at the price of 35 dollars. When the guy was giving me massage, he was talking about how he illegally immigrated to this country from China, and told me it is really easy to do so, and it only costs around 5,000 dollars. Never again. First it was $40 for the massage. She mumbled the different massage styles after I asked 3 times. I told her I wanted a thai massage. She said ok. Charged me 40 and $2 for using cc. Fine. Stay calm. Get a massage and leave. My massage lady was actually in a dress and I couldn't understand why. Nevermind that, the massage was a hodge podge of craziness. Definitely not a full thai massage. I leave and the front desk tells me it's actually $50 for a thai massage. I said I barely got a thai massage. And she knew what I wanted going in! Made me pay another $10. I didnt even want to tip but the massage therapist was at least nice. So I said $7 for tip. The manager INSISTED $10 tip. She said restaurants don't work the whole time. With massages, they work the whole time. I asked her if she was giving me a lesson on tipping. I was clearly angry and said no. She insisted. I had a small procedure done that morning, and really needed a massage to take the stress and tension off my body. It was a last minute appointment, and the only reason why I booked with this place. First off, when I arrive, and they asked me to wait 20-30 minutes. I called ahead of time for availability for a reason. I was upset... I was sitting in discomfort all day, and scheduled a booking specifically for the reason they had an availability right after work. I was not thrilled. I have had many spa massages, and this was definitely different. It was not horrible, but I go to have the entire experience. The warm room, the smell of aroma therapy.... the works to relax. I went to get 30 mins massage with my husband the massage was ok but she does really quick move because we only have half an hour. The place is clean but hot I guess they didn't turn the air-con on and I wasn't complaining becsuse I was only there for 30 mins. The main thing is the massage lady was really rude to me. Right after I came out the room she gave me water and said 'No tip?' Of cause we gave a tip but wanted to give 20% which is $16 and gave them a $20. I went here not really knowing what to expect. This was a nice place; neat, clean and quiet. I was a little confused as to what to do when I got there; no filing out paperwork or instruction what to do once in the room.. but I figured it out on my own. If you are used to a traditional massage then I would say this isn't for you. I will say the massage was nice but left me wanting another one. I wanted more specific kneading in certain areas that were tense, that I wasn't asked about. The hot stones were a pleasant addition. I wasn't aware it was included. A little warm at first but you get used to it. I didn't really like that she left the room like 3 times during my massage though, I believe to get the stones, and my massage ended 5 min early.
