Local place that enjoys a loyal crowd. But hard to believe it has been seven years since I did a review. I know we have been a few times and the photos show that. Went for mid week breakfast. Got a table right away and ordered our drinks. Our server was attentive and did a good job. Two egg breakfast has a huge portion of eggs and were ok. Kind of greasy eggs. Bacon was crisp and the home fries also a bit greasy. Build your own omelette was ok. Toast was dry. Not much butter and none on the table. I slathered some strawberry jam on it and choked it down. The home fries were not good. Greasy and unflavorful. Was hoping it would be great but sadly not worth the drive south. Protip: There is a military discount on the service members meal. THANK YOU Sunnyside Cafe.

Tried out this cafe before hitting the beach and loved the vibes! Food: was pretty good! A little overpriced in my opinion but still enjoyed it. Service was great! Loved the ambiance and beachy vibes !

Whenever in Melbourne I stop into the Sunnyside cafe for breakfast it is very clean with great service by caring an attentive staff. They serve large portions,of home style food,

Sunny Side Café is a charming spot conveniently located just a short walk from the beach, perfect for a relaxing bite before or after some sun and sand. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, whether you choose to sit inside or enjoy the fresh air outdoors. The meals taste just like home-cooked comfort food, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. Big bonus: their iced caramel latte is absolutely delicious! Great coffee, great food, and very reasonable prices. A definite favorite when I'm in the Melbourne Beach area.

A great place to eat in the Melbourne Beach area According to their website, they are, "Dedicated to serving great food, breakfast that will get your day to the best possible start." This was my first time trying this restaurant after having driven by this location for over 20 years. It is in a strip center built on the north side of Beach Avenue and mere steps from the beach. There is plenty of parking. They have inside or outside seating. The outside seating is small 2-person tables set on each side of the walkway with metal chairs. The inside seating is mostly a series of booths and some seating at a counter to the right as you enter. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We saw and were helped by at least 5 different waitresses. The menu is a good selection of breakfast favorites from basic eggs, to omelets to French toast and pancakes. I tried the bacon scrambler with home fries and an English muffin. The food came out quickly. It was a good portion and was very tasty. I like the English muffin the most. Overall, between the service, location, food, and cost I thought this was a very nice restaurant and I would recommend it to anybody wanting a delicious meal in the Melbourne Beach area.

Got a late start to the day so lunch was top of the order. Found the previous Yelp reviews helpful in this find. Talk about Hot or Cold & Plenty of It!!! First off, super friendly staff as we walked in the door, " have a seat anywhere you like guys" the hostess said. I like that, personally. Fairly simple menu as we chose the burger options. Mama had the Greek Burger while I chose the Brazilian Burger. Talk about everything including the kitchen sink in the Brazilian, holy cow! Everything was delicious. Service was awesome for this diner eatery. Thanks to the Sunnyside Cafe Staff, you all were awesome today.

Such a great little spot! We came here after our first choice was closed but I'm so glad we did as it exceeded any other breakfast spots in the area! When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by at least 3 different people. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly, and happy to answer questions. They had a ton of unique dishes in special when we went so we tried the Cajun Bene and the pumpkin French toast. We like to split a savory and sweet dish. Both were awesome! The bene had fried green tomatoes, shrimp, and a red pepper sauce. The red pepper sauce on the Cajun Bene was *chef's kiss* and had large chunks of real peppers in it. Yum. The French toast was not overly sweet (which is great) so it was easy to enjoy too. Perfectly pumpkiny with not too much "spice" like some places. The food and service were just both fantastic. I can't wait to return to try more unique specials!

All American Breakfast with Country Fried Steak. Comes with 2 eggs hash browns and toast $9.75.

First time a Sunnyside and I can say it was a very good experience. We came on a Sunday morning are 9:00AM and were able to quickly be sat even with limited seating. ( good thing we did because are 9:30-10:00AM the crowd started forming.) The wait staff quickly came and ordered our drinks then our meals. I ordered the American Breakfast 2 eggs over easy with Country Fried Steak. It also came with choice of bread and side and I went for hash browns all for only $9.75. Our food came out rather quickly and everything looked great. Everything was perfect good as well. Gotta love with your eggs are perfectly runny. Honest what I problem liked the last on my plate was the Country Fried Steak. I was good but a little small and had some bits that were a little more chewy then I like. The is a very nice small cafe that I will for sure return to. It's the best breakfast I have had in Melbourne Beach so far as well. The wait staff was amazing and extremely friendly as well. I might not get the Country Fried Steak again but they also have a bunch of specials that sounded amazing that I plan to try. 4 of which were different spins of Eggs Benedict which they already had another 4 of in the menu. Will be coming back. My even have myself a mimosa or a draft next time!

About a month ago, we drove down to Melbourne Beach to visit family. After a morning at the beach, we searched on Yelp for some breakfast and our search led us to Sunnyside Cafe (SC). - Parking - Center lot. - Vibe - It has a diner feel with a beach town vibe. There is seating available along the counter and the rest of the seating consists of booth seats and regular tables and chairs. There are also tables outside and the great thing is the outdoor space is covered. The restaurant is spacious and a decent size. The dining area is open and bright with yellow and blue colors. - TLC - We were quite a large party and Jesse took care of us. Another lady jumped in to assist with extra needs and distributing the orders. They were very polite and helpful and seemed to be used to the hustle and bustle in the restaurant, which is probably business as usual, given that they are one of the few breakfast establishments on that stretch of beach. - Eats / Refreshments - Cappucino - The Cappucino was served in a double walled glass and pretty in presentation. The Cappucino tasted great, but my only complaint was that it was filled to the brim that it was overflowing and made the glass a little messy to handle. Pitaya (Dragonfruit) Bowl - I haven't had a good Pitaya bowl since we left Hawaii, mostly because it's hard to find in Savannah. I'm glad that I decided to get one at SC, because it did not disappoint. I swapped out the coconut with granola (just a personal preference). It was a generous portion as you can see from my picture. The bowl is shallow, but wide and it was loaded with fresh bananas, strawberries and blueberries on a bed of the smoothly blended Pitaya mix. The consistency was the perfect, think smoothie. My recommendation is to ask for some honey and drizzle that on top! So yummy! Pitaya is such a gorgeous fruit, but looks can be deceiving as it lacks the sweetness that generally characterizes a fruit, so a little bit of honey, I think, elevates it just a little! I was quite full and a great meal to start my day. Banana bread - They make their Banana Bread in house and to warm it up, they place it on the griddle with some butter and fry it up for a couple of minutes. It was a thick slice and a tad bit oily from the butter, but still good. I especially enjoyed the crispiness of the crust. Kiddos - Our kids each had a Kid's Pancake plate with their own choice of sides. They were the size of the dinner plate and a large portion for a Kids meal. My kids, although small, can eat their weight in food, so their plates satisfied their hunger until at least lunch time haha. Overall, great breakfast spot in this area! Friendly service, generous portions and more importantly, fresh ingredients! I would definitely go back again when we go back to the area to visit! Stay safe, Friends!

With such a prime location right on the beach, it feels like it could be an incredible restaurant and a serious revenue generator, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like much has been invested into the property. I was surprised to hear that it supposedly has the same owners as Dijon's Restaurant up the street, which has a much more polished and upscale feel. The difference between the two is pretty dramatic. During our visit, a lot of the staff seemed to be standing around waiting for customers, and the whole place just felt like it was missing some energy. The outdoor dining area is dated and not particularly inviting. The windows and exterior show plenty of wear from the beach weather--which is understandable in this location--but the overall space still needs some attention. If you do eat here, I'd recommend staying downstairs. Upstairs had more of a pool hall/dude-hangout vibe and definitely wasn't where I'd choose for a romantic weekend dinner with my wife. This feels more like a beach-day, grab-some-grub kind of place that happens to occupy the building of a much larger restaurant. There's a ton of potential here, but right now, they're really missing the ball on what this location could be. Probably would not return unless the place gets a significant refresh.

Got to the restaurant and the elevator was not working so we had to sit downstairs where it is stuffier and less of a view. The menu for breakfast had changed and was meager!!! We arrive on time for our reservation. We are greeted, if that's what you want to call it, by a tall older man. I swear he looked at us like, can you really afford to eat here? So the initial interaction was rather poor. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe he just had a bad day. Yeah, apparently not. The place is very pretty and certainly airs of a higher end establishment. After Mr. Snooty took us to our table, we were greeted by, ready for this, and even more snooty lady. Think Mrs. Howell. It's kind of like going on a date with a psychiatrist, knowing that they are judging every word that's coming out of your mouth. Lol. So after getting a lay of the land from her, we ordered some drinks, which were fantastic. Then the first course came and it was fabulous. We had the escargot and the oysters Rockefeller. Yum. The Escargot was buttery and soft. The oysters were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. We tried a lobster bisque and it was so so good. The touch of sherry was perfect. As for the Caesar's salad, this was the star of the evening. It was one of the best I've had and is what a Caesar salad should taste like. I am seriously considering going back there just for that salad. For dinner my wife had a lobster tail. She reports it was excellent. The snooty lady wanted me to try some special they had, but I went for the lamb chops. Again, perfect, medium rare. Winner. Snooty lady went uber obnoxious snooty after I didn't pick her choice. I was scared for the rest of the night. Overall price to food value, negative 100 billion. Food was fantastic. $250 for the portion sizes not worth it. Then again, even if they were bigger, not worth the price. Like I said, go for the salad and pass on the rest. Make you car payment and go to a more reasonably priced place that won't treat you like you need to have a credit report or occupation that they might approve of. Oh and they had some nice live music. That was good. Too bad, the staff put a damper on the birthday dinner.

Unfortunately,…read morewhile the service was kind, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, the food was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a very long time. We tried several different things across the menu, and unfortunately none of them landed. The chicken tacos were incredibly bland and lacked seasoning or flavor. The sushi was especially disappointing and felt more comparable to something I could pick up prepackaged at a grocery store than what I would expect when dining out. The salmon with fingerling potatoes was easily the best-looking dish, but unfortunately the flavor didn't match the presentation. Both the fish and accompanying vegetables were dry and underseasoned. The biggest disappointment was the ramen. Before ordering, I specifically asked whether it came with a soft, gooey egg and was told yes, so I ordered an extra. Instead, both eggs arrived completely hard-boiled and unseasoned. The steak was overcooked, and the broth had an overwhelmingly strong balsamic-like flavor rather than the rich, savory flavor I expected based on the menu description. We also browsed the marketplace, which was very sparsely stocked during our visit, and the items that were available seemed considerably overpriced. I can only speak to what it looked like on the day we were there. I do want to give credit where it's due: everyone who took care of us was friendly and welcoming, and we visited during happy hour, which made some of the pricing a little easier to swallow. Unfortunately, even at happy-hour prices, the quality of the food simply wasn't there for us. I hate leaving reviews like this, especially when the people were so nice, but after trying multiple dishes and being disappointed across the board, I can't justify more than one star. Sadly, this is not somewhere I would return.
