Like a lot of the reviewers here I have had similar issues. I reached out to SunPower to get batteries installed (I have had solar panels for 2 years) I was instantly contacted by someone who was quick to return emails etc... until the contract was signed on March 21 2023. After that, I have had 2 people come out to do 'site surveys" That was in May. i have heard nothing since except for a random email from a sales manager to tell me that I didn't qualify for NEM2 -sorry- I had to point out to him that NEM2 and NEM3 didn't apply to me since I was only getting a battery. He then said he was just 'jumping' into this and directed another person on the email to look into it. I have heard nothing. I sent an email to the person who was so attentive until the contract was signed. Nothing!!! Sunpower seems to have a good reputation but it wasn't for the contract i signed, I would be going to another solar company. read more

Warren came out to set up my system, but was faced with having to do it in a narrow window as SDGE inconveniently needed to fix a transformer that sunk into the ground about an hour after the setup was supposed to take place. Like with others, Warren rewired things to be cleaner, and he was able to get everything set up and me connected with the app just in time for the grid power to get shut off. He went over a lot of details of what I have installed, and answered my questions about potential future installs of more panels and batteries. read more

OMG! Sunpower is horrible!!!! Don't use this company if you want solar. They'll take your money quick but take forever to filly install and activate it. My solar panels were installed on our roof in March and they still aren't hooked up. The panels are sitting on our roof doing nothing. With this heat it's ridiculous we don't have working solar yet. Stay away from this company! Maybe one day they'll actually hook up the panels so they work. Feel free to private message me. I guess you won't. Very pleased with the process of obtaining information and a solar battery & storage battery proposal from Nate Hantgin who was great at quick responses to my questions. After signing a contract (by Docusign), I was immediately contacted and walked through the contract and provided my site information to Isabella Mercado who was cordial and helpful and set up the appointment for an engineer site visit. I signed the contract yesterday and have already been provided a Project Manager, a tracking app for the project, and several other items to expedite the installation. Very efficient. Additionally, I requested vendor assistance for an SGIP rebate and they are on it and already have prepared my application. I am expanding my current SunPower system to add additional panels and battery storage due to our frequent PSPS outages. I am returning to SunPower because of their quality product and professional installation that I experience with them. read more

The technician that came to my house yesterday was Michael. He was very nice and knowledgeable with getting my solar to be activated. It took awhile to have it activated as there were some technical difficulties along the way, but what i liked the most was he was persistent and didn't leave without the finishing the job. The only downside is, and must go to separate review, is taking very long for the "permit" needed to do this. It took 3 months after purchase before i had it up and running. Their customer service isn't the best, but at least and most importantly, in person service is superb. read more

In follow up to my December review ... After posting my late-December review on Yelp and on SunPower's Facebook page, a few days later I received a message from an anonymous source stating that they asked Adrian [Concepcion] to call me. Adrian is a Supervisor, Customer Care and Engineering Services. Sure enough, Adrian called me on January 4th! I was thrilled when I saw the message but wasn't able to answer the phone when he called so he left me a voice mail message referencing my ticket number and for me to call him back. He never left me any information, unfortunately, about the status of my replacement inverter. So I called him back several times and sent him an email as well. I was thinking an email will give him an option and may be easier for him to communicate status information to me. Here is my email from January 7, 2021: Hi Adrian, Reference Case Number 02162174 Thanks for calling me the other day.  I did call you back and left a message but I'm okay with email if it provides meaningful information.  To that end, here are some questions. a. What is the status and outlook for the inverter?  It has been since June 2020 and I am clueless in terms of what the situation is and SunPower's expectation for when my system will be operational again.  If it is easier to talk about it than email back & forth, I'm fine with that, just let me know it would be better to talk. b. If SunPower doesn't have a clear picture of #1, what are the alternatives?  A different brand inverter?  An updated system?  At my very first conversation with a technician in June, I told him I would also like to consider adding battery storage.  But I never heard anything further from SunPower about my query. c. Is there a compensation program for lost electricity production?  At least if there was some type of program, it wouldn't be quite so difficult to remain patient while being out of service for so long with no answers. I've never heard a thing back since. I may try a small-claims court lawsuit? In my whole life (and I'm in my 60's), I've never had such an awful service experience with a company. read more

Buying a home that came loaded with solar from Sunpower seemed like an absolute blessing. That is until you move into said house, inherit the solar system, look forward to the electric bill to roll in, and realize this poor excuse for a solar company is failing left and right. First of all, the transfer of the warranty from the previous owner to me was a painful process of emails that went without reply before finally getting it sorted out with some tactful CC's by the former owner. Moving forward I was eager to see my electric bills dwindle - sadly they have not. Enter customer service via the phone. How do you spell painful? P-A-I-N-SUNPOWER-F-U-L. I called upon receiving yet another email from the former homeowner asking why he was still receiving the reports from Sunpower with the additional question of "why are they blank?" Hell if I know! You'd think with the reassignment of the warranty they'd update the info for the new owner, me. A call to their customer service department with the most painful of hold "music" led me to a customer service rep who basically asked me to create an account and to wait 48 hours for the data to load because they're receiving all of my data and for me to wait for it to load on my end. 48 hours came and went, still nothing on the dashboard. Another call led to yet another dead end, which led me to email some folks on the inside. As of today, the reports are still blank. While I did get a response, it's easy to see I'm a very low priority: From me "Hi Tyler and Jessica, You were CC'd on a previous email between Jordan ********, the former owner of my home and myself so I hope you don't mind me reaching out. Long story short, I'm getting nowhere with customer service and I believe I'm having some significant issues with my solar service, specifically blank data reports (online in my dashboard and emailed) and high energy bills from SDGE in comparison to the former owner. Would either of you have some time to chat with me?" Jessica didn't respond and Tyler is a man of few words, certainly lacking detail or any desire to help. From Tyler "Hey Brad, I will send this over to tech support to obtain a production report and assess if a site visit is required." From me "Thank you, Tyler. When can I expect to hear something? I started the ticket early this week." From Tyler "To set proper expectations 7 to 10 business days. They are a different department than us and have no control over those time frames." And that was it... I did call yet again (because I've learned that Sunpower is not going to initiate contact) and they now asked me to reset the entire system by turning off the breakers in the control panel. What followed was that they'd be following up in 48 hours on Tuesday the 17th... yep, do the math, 96 hours. "Oh, I mean two business days," the service rep said. So, until then, Sunpower is in control of my sleek and inflated electric bill and after a few weeks of back and forth and their lack of urgency to fix things I feel this is a warranted review. At this point I'd encourage you not to choose Sunpower for your solar needs unless you're my neighbor who has Sunpower, loves them, runs his AC all summer long with four adults in his home and gets paid by SDGE every month while I'm still over $100 outgoing to SDGE. read more

Two weeks to do anything First I had to prove dad died and mom inherited the house. Not sure if that is even done going into week three. Now I have to wait two weeks to see if they will service the system. The installer is nowhere to be found 13 years later. This review is for the help I requested to sign in to My SunPower mobile app. I got an immediate call back from SunPower when I contacted them via the app for help, it wasn't their fault that their call back went to voicemail. So I contacted them directly and Steph Ibig from SunPower got right to work to resolve the problem. Steph had me delete and reload the My SunPower app, and while she was mirroring my account, she walked me through getting signed up quickly and efficiently, although she did have to work some magic on her end while I was placed on a brief hold. I didn't realize what I was missing - so much cool information on the app about my solar energy generation. Steph gave me a brief tutorial and left me with some other handy tips. I have had solar for three years now with sunpower. Every year my tru up bill was increasing, I would call and was told every time my system was running great, no problems seen. I kept an eye of the system through the app, and yet it was increasing with no changes in household, even had a family member move out. So now I'm not even at my one year tru up time and my bill is well over 3,000. Currently have a tech out now, here is the problems-breaker box has not been reading panels; 3 out of my 6 panels not even working; no attend was placed for remote reading (so how my system was seen at great, no clue); the ground cable was not placed right. New breaker placed and now told my panels are not even on. I've been paying solar and PGE all this time, not saving a dime, in fact paying more! Sunpower is greedy and untrustworthy! This company is a total lie and UNTRUSTWORTHY!!! They didn't communicate anything and then bam someone from SCE shows up for an inspection (news to me). The. We get a text two weeks later they will be there in the morning for install (wow, news to me). Install finally gets done and two now the later-no communication and no solar power. I filed a complaint on their website, nada! Called, get the run around. I filed complaints everywhere and the company just says "we will look into this".....AND DOESN'T! They ignore you after install even if your system hasn't been turned on. They do not reply to calls or complaints. I have filed now with Better business bureau and the solar commission. This company uses smoke and mirrors to get your money but doesn't do anything after that. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! I Have had our solar installed for two whole months and it's not active. I have called 5-6 times and also filed complaints to the company-NADA. Be warned, they only want to suck you into a financial obligation and take your money. They don't give a red cent about your system functioning! I am so worried what is going to happen if we ever have issues! I pray to God we won't because this company is unreliable, untrustworthy and useless!! read more

I have been moved to another escalation person (2nd one now) and no resolution since Nov 2022. Not sure what else to do as i keep being told the parts on on the way, with no ETA. Most likley legal action soon. The worse comany to deal with to get anything resolved in a reasonalbe time. 6 month with some panels not working, they got there money so im stuck trying to get the issue resolved. This company recently filed bankruptcy. They got me and I haven't heard from them. They appeared to be full on it from day one. My gut feeling wanted to go with Sun run....they denied my application. My headache with Sun power started in March or April of this year..their new installers Cover All was not what I wanted. They lost for answers they were waiting for parts and their employees had communication problems. My neighbor saw wires hanging on the roof..their employee who came out for the City inspection saw it and couldn't fix it.. also not correct paperwork. They did send a team out for the next inspection. The city of Stockton don't check the roof..paper work only and some do accept cash. Some leader needs to get involved and help folks with their Sun Power problems. Where is Jerry Brown? He would do something..no response from the Governor office not my Senator... sad read more

I have had possibly the worst customer service experience of any company I have worked with. My solar panels weren't communicating to sunpower at first for a few months but still operating and then also stopped working. It wasn't until the summer when I usually have credits to cover most of my power coats months later that I found out they weren't producing. Even though their annual power generation report by contract was supposed to have been done in january that would have caught this. I find out they hadn't done it for the last 2 years since when I took over the lease. Now I'm trying to get payment and they're only trying to pay me under their guaranteed minimum power generation portion of the contract which should be for underperforming and WORKING solar panels. AND an amount less than the total of the monthly lease payments I made with ZERO power generation. I am literally losing money from their mistakes because of this even if I accepted their calculated reimbursement. Trying to dispute this with customer service who is lacking in understanding of legal documents hasn't been unfruitful. I've demanded speaking to a manager and they have said they would call me for weeks now but still haven't. They even promised me today and it is currently 4:25 my time with zero call again. I've called over 6 times asking for this manager to respond to me. Do I need to contact a lawyer to resolve this because it's ridiculous and there was clear breach of contract. Their email system is also atrocious because you have to respond to the originating email every time and they don't always respond to confirm they received your emails. I do not recommend using sunpower for your solar panels because of this and I wish I hadn't when I assumed the lease when purchasing my home from the previous homeowner. 04/21/23 edit: Again I was supposed to receive a call that was scheduled today and AGAIN another call never came. At this point I think I need to get my lawyer involved because this seems to be getting worse by all accounts not better. 05/03/2023 update: This was escalated even higher to some sort of executive review team as you can see from sunpower's response below but I, of course, still haven't had any full response on the matter. I'm not sure if this needs to be resolved in a legal matter at this point since Sunpower appears to have had multiple breaches of contract per my lease contract. 05/09/2023: Still no update and even multiple unanswered emails asking for updates after this "escalated" to the executive review team. 06/20/2023: It's been OVER TWO MONTHS since I left this review and STILL haven't had a single shred of evidence of recalculation of my issue or any attempt to rightfully pay me what I am owed or at minimum refund me the months of my lease where my solar panels were not producing at all. I would never recommend sunpower to anyone looking to lease solar panels they do not have the customer service or systems in place to adequately serve you if ANYTHING goes wrong. read more

I have a sun vault battery wall that was activated correctly. There was an administrative error on the end of the activation manager. So when I got my power bill I noticed that during the peak hours I was still being charged the high rates. 2 technicians came out, Peter and Warren and they were first class! Very appologetic and gave me the white glove service with a walk through on how to operate it. These guys really made me feel as though I had been on the bad side of an unfortunate mistake and they were going to do what they needed to in order to make it right. Thanks to Rudy for making my solar installment worry free; I started with Sunrun and decided to change to Sunpower. Rudy followed the project from the beginning to the end of the installment of the solar panels. Within two weeks, my solar panels were ready to be installed. Rudy made the project stress free; all the footwork was done by Rudy, Chris, and the rest of the Sunpower staff. Any issue you may have with your solar panels, the system is monitored by Sunpower technicians seeing the panels; as soon as they find anything wrong with the design, they will send a technician as quickly as possible to fix the error. I am delighted with the Sunpower staff and especially Rudy for doing all the leg work for the's customer. He does everything that's possibly necessary to satisfy the customers. I would recommend Sunpower to anyone. read more

I am a recent and current customer of Sunpower. We started the project in Jun - the sales, proposal, and even the install process was great, with the install completed in Aug, and PGE Permission to Operate (PTO) granted in early September. However, two small items were left - 1) to properly configure the instrumentation of kWh produced by my panels, against the home consumption in the app. This issue was raised to the Project Coordinator in early September, and a technical support case was opened. Sunpower even sent a technical team out to check out the system. It's now more than two months later, and while they acknowledge it's a software issue they can fix remotely, they still haven't fixed it! 2) And because this technical support case is open, my Project is not considered completed. I've called Sunpower 5+ times , and sent emails to the same project coordinator, who responds belatedly via email every 3 weeks to give me the same line about "it'll be resolved." And then in early Nov, this project coordinator sent me an email that I received my PTO from PGE. This confused me even more, since I already have my PTO from PGE 2 months ago. Either this project coordinator is incompetent, or he's deliberately slow-playing / sabotaging the completion of this project. This is the oddest situation - I've never had such terrible customer service experience anywhere (and I'm a comcast customer!). And to boot, Sunpower doesn't get paid until they complete the project. You'd think they want to fix this minor software issue remotely, so they can close out this project! I've called the Sunpower support line, and asked to speak with this project coordinator's manager or someone else who can complete this minor task and close out this project, and they've not let me talk to anyone else (with the call hung up, after me holding for 10 minutes to talk to some other coordinator). So I'm just stuck for 2 months waiting for a remote fix and for the project to complete. Good product, worst customer service! read more

I contracted with SunPower to have 19 panels and 2 batteries. Then I was emailed a photo of my property with the equipment drawn outside in the wrong place. I wanted it inside a detached garage. My contacts seemed to have nothing to do with decisions that others in SunPower made and could not explain anything. After many months they started saying they wanted to trench my concrete patio to the garage. Countless times, I explained they could run the conduit under a staircase between the house and the garage--no trenching. Eventually, they said under the staircase was too small to enter. I had already shown them photos of camera wire recently run under the staircase! One year after signing the contract, I switched to another company and 6 weeks later installation started. Yesterday the new company ran the conduit under the staircase. They laughed and said it took "10 minutes, literally." read more

Update on my on-going saga with SunPower... With the first rains of the season after the solar system was up, and my roof is now leaking! There were zero leaks prior to SunPower doing work on my roof. At the onset of the contract, the salesperson brought in a crew to put on plywood and prepare the roof for the solar panel installations. Now, I have leaks in the dining room. SunPower refuses to take responsibility for the poor job done by THEIR contactors (I did not hire nor coordinate any of the work done on the roof for the solar), and are ignoring my email messages, including my salesperson who coordinated this work. My neighbor is now ready to put on solar. You got it - I am definitely not recommending SunPower. I hope others have had a better experience than me. read more

USED CAR SALESMAN! The customer service agent mislead me into believing that all of the permitting process would be completed and paid for by SunPower. After I signed the contract, a SunPower inspector confirmed all permitting would be completed and no issues were found. My next point of contact relayed the same information. After waiting for three months, I was told to take out multiple permits at my own expense, in addition, the overall costs would be an additional $5,000-$10,000 more than initially agreed upon. A dishonest company with employees just trying to push a sale. There are plenty of other companies out there with better reputations. DO NOT USE SunPower! read more

Worst solar company and terrible customer service. We bought a new build which forces you to have solar installed which we have to purchase or lease. Not even a year after having the panels, they had "an error" in our system where the panels weren't covering our energy use like they are supposed to which in return made edison charge us more for energy. Confronted SunPower which admitted to the error and said they fixed it but only after an $800 over charge. I asked for them to refund us which they said no. Opened a complaint with BBB and they still denied the claim. Even though we have it in writing with them admitting their wrong doing. This company does not care and won't fix their issue. Terrible company that I will never recommend to anyone. Companies should make things right with their customers! read more

Five stars well deserved. SunPower's technician Mr. Dennis Boyce was professional and courteous! He arrived right on time to the location, prepared and was ready to get started working. It was a super hot day in the area but he remained a great attitude. He was very friendly and helpful with the questions we had. After the activation was completed, he patiently walked us through the portal setup, provided usage tips, and answered all the questions that we had. I highly recommend giving SunPower a call for a quote and start saving! read more
