I would say the worst solar company from sale rep to financial dep. They're liars. The contract we signed and the outcome is totally different. They tried to complain instead of helping us out. The inverter was finally replaced on 8/24/2021. Everything is working again. While I stand by the 1-star review for the process of getting it replaced, the followup by SunPower corporate afterwards has been great. I spoke with Sandra at SunPower in Austin after the inverter was replaced and she was extremely nice, helpful and apologetic for the problems I experienced getting the inverter replaced. She plans on making things right again so I will changing the rating back to 5-star. If you have an warranty equipment failure stay on top of it and escalate the problem if needed in order to get a resolution. A special shout out to Home Networks Electric & Solar. They were the only dealer I could get to come out and confirm the inverter had in fact failed (a requirement by SunPower). They were great to work with, friendly, on time, and professional. If I ever have a problem with the system again they will be one of my first calls. read more

Horrible. I still have broken tiles, leaks, two of the panels not working. Leaks and drywall and insulation got damaged and its been 6 plus months and still the issues are not resolved. I had my expansion installed late August 2022 and to date and need to have two micro inverters of the new panels to be replaced, since those aren't showing up or seems working. Overall the company relies on cutting corners for quick install and have the system up and running. If a hiccup happens then we the owners have to deal with them getting a third party to come fix it. This was my observation of the whole process and talking to SP employees and the third party reps coming out. Overall, its a massive headache and i have no doubt its just us from other yelp reviews. I would like the senior management contact me ASAP and get my issues resolved and also reimburse the whole amount which I paid. As you can see the installation was in August and all the issues remain AS IS. I wouldn't want even to give 1 star and also wouldn't recommend any friend to go with them. They have to contact me and have all the issues taken care. read more

We just moved into a newly built house in the Sacramento Area. The Solar panels were already installed, but hadn't been turned on yet. Dagoberto Rodriguez arrived right on time and activated our solar panels. He explained how the app worked, how the solar panels worked, and even explained what an unknown service box was on the side of the house. (Spoiler Alert: It was for our irrigation system.) Dagoberto was extremely professional and helpful. After everything was activated he showed be what I needed to do to activate the app and see how much energy I was saving. Now the app is running and the system is set up with no issues. If I ever run into an issue I won't hesitate to call up Sunpower and have Dagoberto come out and solve it. Thanks! read more

I can't tell you how disappointed we are with the service. We got panels installed in August and since have had electric bills close to $300/mo and its now March! No one has been monitoring our system and when I call for help, it's gotten me no where. I have called several times, and have gotten mixed messages from each rep and zero follow up, it's like I have to start over every time. The tech who came out said he was replacing the solar unit the first time, then he said that wasn't the issue, they needed to rewire, and apparently that took place but then customer service knew nothing about any of it - they just keep saying "we are still testing and will call you in 24 hours" which never happens. I've spoken to multiple people who are clearly in a call center in another country reading from a script, who have ALL promised they'd follow up with me within 24 hours via phone and email, and haven't gotten a response from anyone. I've had to call back numerous times, waiting on hold to finally talk to someone who does nothing to help move this along. Meanwhile, we are left with hefty electric bills on top of the fees we paid for solar. We went with Sunpower over a competitor because we were told they'd be monitoring our system, which gave us the peace of mind that we you would be checking in to ensure it was working properly and we had the right amount of panels, etc. That is not happening AT ALL. Somebody needs to be held accountable for these expenses we are incurring, and it should not be us. We were supposed to be saving money, not doubling our expenses. read more

I have Sunpower on my home. The system was already in. When we arrived we discovered that one of the panel was not operating. We called for repair and it took a month to get an appointment. When the tech came out he discovered it needed a part. So For some reason the panel was taken out of app so now it looks like the system is working but in fact the one panel isn't but just now hidden. We have been waiting on this part for about 5 months now. We call weekly and no timeline no information. Awful service. read more

Our system's keep shutting off every hour or two 2 weeks ago til it is totally off since last Tuesday. Called sunpower last week to have them look at our system. They said they will have their technician give us a call and set up appt to look at our system. I haven't heard from them. Don't expect any updates from them either. If you don't call their customer service. You won't get an update. Their vendor is waiting for work order last week. Follow up today still no work order. No email or phone call from them whatsoever. I know with the covid thing is hard but if the customer's panel is totally shut down. I would think they would do something about it right away. FYI: We did not get to chose which solar panel company since it came with the house when we bought it. Will not recommend Sunpower to my friends and family. We only had our system just this february. Did not start running 'til April. So its fairly new. Update 6.15.20202: Our system is still off. Still waiting for technician to come over to look at our system. BUYER BEWARE!!! Its hard to get work done when your system is not functioning well. See from previous people's review who had trouble with their system. I didnt believe it til it happen to me. read more

Just bought a new house and got permission to operate when I went to activate the system I had no power. After calling I got scheduled in a few days. SunPower has been very slow; it took almost 5 months for them to install after the signing of the documents and loan, and during the install they caused a number of issues, including damaging one of our recently installed seamless gutters, and almost completely destroying our recently installed HVAC systems by forgetting to remove the fuse box before they had a subcontractor (Infinium Solar) do our MPU. Luckily the damage was limited to only a blown fuse, but it could have been much worse. Since then they have been very slow in addressing the repair to our gutter, and of course the interconnection application with PG&E. They were insistent many times that they sent the city inspection documents to PG&E on April 4; after several weeks of back and forth; I find out they didn't send it after all and they finally did send it on April 20. The worst part really has been the gutter repair. They have been very reluctant to do this gutter repair strangely; always ignoring to address it in my emails to them, and when they do, they are very unclear about the scope of the repair work. I keep emphasizing with them that it's a seamless gutter, and nothing short of a full replacement of the seamless gutter will be acceptable. And they keep responding saying that their operations team will "assess" the damage and do what they deem is appropriate for a fix. This is not how you fix the damage that was done to a recently installed seamless gutter! (How recent? Like 2 weeks before they did the solar panel installation) Most likely SunPower is just going to hire someone to cut out the damaged part and then install a sectional gutter there; which is not a correct restoration because now the gutter is not even seamless anymore. I paid for seamless gutters to be installed; to do a proper repair, they need to do a full seamless gutter replacement. I must also add for context that the entire time they have not been easily reachable by phone. The project coordinator had a phone number that did not work; everyone else I contacted from SunPower tried to direct me to her; the entire organization was a mess. I would have avoided giving this negative review, since I know things have been rough with the NEM2.0 plan ending in mid April, but it's already May and they are still continuing this broken, slow communication and not handling the repairs properly at all. Installation was in February; it should not be taking this long to send some documents over to PG&E. We were also expecting to have PTO before our loan payments kicked in. Given that the payments were set to begin in April 25 when our installation was done end of February, we had no idea we would now end up having to pay for both our PG&E bill and loan at the same time, all thanks to SunPower taking their time to send over a simple city inspection document. I am willing to be reasonable and I don't really don't think SunPower deserves a 1 star; however I am putting it here for now solely because of how poor the post installation service has been. All I want is for the problems to be addressed. I am willing to remove it if the service improves, and the problems are being properly addressed. read more

Sunpower management team, could you please help unblock my payment? My story: One month ago the installation is complete, very well and fast executed. Then I paid 40% because intially I chose the cash payment option. Then I realize I don't have enough cash for my 2022 property tax, and asked sunpower to switch to the finance payment option. Sunpower agreed and I accepted the fincance proposal in mySunPower portal. However, due to a system bug in mySunPower portal, there is no credit check page popping up after I accepted the proposal (but it should), and my payment cannot be processed because there is no "next step" button for me to click. I had been debugging this issue with a sunpower representative for over 2 weeks, until both of us realized the financial proposal expired and the new lender interest rate climbed up a lot. Now, I need to pay 20% more than my original financial proposal. What this means is that although I installed 9 panels, but need to pay the price of 11 panels due to a mySunPower portal bug. This is not acceptable to me because it's the mySunPower portal's bug that blocked the payment process and caused the delay. And I had been trying very hard to work with the sunpower representitve resolving this issue. I have reached our to sunpower finance department for a solution, but haven't received any useful update. Signed our contract back on March 15th but still no panels installed. Was told the 360 panels had a long wait time so they recommended the 327 panels, which they had in stock and would only take two weeks to get ( this was back on May 16th) still no panels. At this point we don't ever think we are going to get the solar panels installed. We don't mind the wait just don't like being told certain dates and still nothing to show for it. read more

Electrical savings haven't been what I expected. Have a $1700 true up bill this year?! Also, I just refinanced my mortgage and they charged me $300 to file paperwork with my bank. Total rip off. Sunpower has been awful. We have been down because of an inverter failure. Reaching anyone in customer support is impossible. When you reach them they have no information. My dealer can't get them to respond to parts orders with status. They were a good company when we put in the system 17 years ago, but the inverters have been a problem and getting Sunpower to help now is impossible. I strongly regret having used them! The dealers keep changing and the corporate support is a mess! read more

Update 3/1: Still haven't heard from escalation team Our panels are two years old and under a 25 year warranty. They stopped working. We called, we followed the directions which basically amounted to unplug it and plug it back in. We waited for a remote solution that never happened. We waited for a site visit. I took off work. The tech came and identified the problem. 5 microinverters stopped working due to power surge. The same problem that at least 20 of my neighbors are also having. They will not be honoring the warranty despite the fact that it specifically says microinverters are covered. Called SunPower to schedule a repair. They claim they need to do another site visit. They cannot tell me why another site visit would be required. The problem has already been diagnosed. But apparently I need to take another day off work for them to crawl around on the roof and not fix anything. Waiting on hold for 39 minutes for this guy (Joven) to find a supervisor. At least that is plenty of time to write reviews, file complaints with the BBB/ OAG. One star cause the hold music is catchy. read more

I know contractor experiences vary widely and you need to shop around, but the panels have been amazing and the monitoring system has been flawless. I check in on performance all the time and I'm banking tons of savings month after month. Do yourself a favor and get a couple quotes. Definitely pick SunPower panels but pick an installer with a great reputation too. read more

SunPower installed solar panels on my home in Feb 2023. In Aug 2023 there was a major storm in the area, the first of the season, and we realized that water was leaking into the home due to broken tiles on the roof. SunPower installers were the only people that had been on our roof for years and we had never had any leak issues whatsoever before, so we knew the leak was caused by the installers. SunPower sent inspectors who agreed that the damage was caused by SunPower and that the company would take care of the repairs. We recorded that conversation. Three days later, we received official communication from SunPower stating that they would NOT be accepting responsibility, even after we sent them a copy of the recording in addition to several estimates from contractors stating in the estimates that in their professional opinion, the damage was caused by broken tiles (i.e., not by 'wear and tear'). The total cost to repair our home from this damage is approximately $20,000 (between the roof and the water damage in the ceilings and walls inside). We're now in the process of working with contractors to repair the damage, and paying for it all out of pocket. SunPower still refuses to accept any responsibility. I believe SunPower has great equipment, but their customer service is quite lacking and they refuse to take responsibility for the mistakes of their installers. Allow them on your roof at your own peril! Thomas G.: The case is only still open with the case manager because I told them I would be bringing legal action against SunPower, and the case manager said he'd leave the case open for two weeks while waiting for the paperwork from my attorney. The case manager made it quite clear that after further review of all evidence I submitted, SunPower is STILL claiming no liability or responsibility for the damage, and that those findings are final. read more
