The worst. Been a customer for years. They are terrible at customer support. 1. The monitoring system they give you to monitor usage goes down often. 2. Customer service is nearly non existent. A simply matter requires many phone calls and emails, even hunting down the CEO on Linked in. 3. They have the worst online tools to monitor and manage your account. 4. They put a lien on your house that has made it difficult for me to get a refinanced mortgage. Avoid this company. I hate them. read more

Kudos to Preston Cooper for his customer service orientation!! Preston happened to be in the neighborhood when I waved him down and requested assistance. He was very responsive and service oriented as I was trying to activate the system and did not have a ticket for on site service call. Preston assisted in resolving the issue that the phone representative could not provide clarity on. There were 4 boxes to review for functionality in different locations. Preston quickly checked all the boxes and ensure everything was running correctly. Further, he provided education on the boxes so I'm better informed. I'd not have successfully activated the solar panels based on website tutorial nor over the phone. Thank you Preston for going above and beyond. Greatly appreciative!!! read more

Unequivocally THE WORST customer service I've experienced in recent history. They have yet to reply to a single email. Often phone wait times are over two hour. There is no follow through to repair requests and the onus is on the customer to identify problems and contact THEM if there is an issue (even though all data is supposed to be actively monitored by their center. Our system has not communicated with their recording system for months and with multiple calls we're yet to have anyone come out and so much as look at the problem with the system. read more

We had the solar system installed in June and the technician came back to install the monitor device in August. I realized the SUNPOWER app doesn't display the power generation of each individual panel. I contacted installation coordinator to raise the issue. He confirmed the option was activated and forwarded the case to the customer support. I have not heard from the customer support after 3 weeks. I emailed the technical support 3 times and have not heard from them. I am really disappointed the customer support of SUNPOWER. As far as the solar system, it functions as expected. Update 09/28/2022: Thanks to Alexa for escalating this issue to the Executive Support Specialist. I got a phone call from the technical support and the problem solved in 10 minutes. read more

Its rare to deal with customer service and have a good ending. But with this company you never wait more then 2-5 mins before you can get a hold of someone. I had a issue with my billing this morning and shout out to Beverly who was patient and super professional. Worst customer service I've ever encountered. First, I had to wait days just to get it activated because they said they would give me a call after they get the PG&E approval. PG&E approved and I waited. And waited. Finally after a week, I called them and they were like "oh yeah, we can do that now." Oh how kind of you. Then, I change my wifi password from the default jumble of letters and numbers to something I can actually remember, and I need to update it in the system. I called customer service again yesterday and got this one lady who either could not or refused to understand what the problem is, and kept telling me that power cycling the breakers will solve the connection problem. No matter how many times I told her it's not connecting because I changed my wifi password, she just kept telling me to power cycle. So I humored her and did so. Obviously it did not work. She then proceeds to keep me on the line for an hour while she "researches" the problem. I couldn't take it anymore and hung up and called back, getting a guy who quickly understood what the problem was and told me that I would get a call back the next day because the power cycling had to settle or some nonsense. Today, I get a call from someone claiming to be a supervisor (I seriously doubt he was considering he couldn't answer any of my questions) who told me... get this... he has to put in a request to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out. To reiterate: He, a self proclaimed supervisor, could not schedule an appointment for a technician to come out and service a problem for Sunpower, a company for which he claims he is a supervisor. No. Instead, I have to wait 3-5 business days for someone to call me back to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out. I HAVE TO WAIT 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS. FOR SOMEONE TO CALL ME BACK. TO SCHEDULE. AN. APPOINTMENT. This company is a hot mess of a garbage fire, and if I weren't contractually obligated to go with them as part of my new home purchase, I would much rather be mauled by twenty cats than ever deal with them again. read more

This business does not maintain or help fix their equipment. When you call you never get the same person twice. They do not return calls or emails. I was told other customers having the same issues I am currently having have been waiting over a year to get the problem fixed so I likely won't have my problem fixed anytime soon. I am currently paying the lease payments on the equipment AND a huge SCE bill because the equipment is not properly functioning. Looks like the previous lawsuit against this company needs to be redone!!!! If only zero stars was a possibility. read more

OK so as I said...the first appointment was scheduled for Sept. 5 @ 1:00. NO one called, no one showed up. So then they decided to "prioritize" me, and so, that meant rescheduled for ten days later...so much for expediting. Anyway they showed up on the 15, and he was actually here earlier than stated. That was nice. The guy was very nice, and did the whole survey in about 45 minutes. SO, that's a positive. Now, they say the next step should be by end of week. I'll let you know.. read more

This review is for Micheal Jarrett only. SunPower would not be my choice for solar panel, but because the new home that I bought, the panels had to be install by SunPower. SunPower has horrible communication skills, horrible timelines and horrible service, but thanks to Micheal Jarrett and his Professionalism and knowledge I decided not to go forward with my complaint towards SunPower. I called SunPower today to make sure that our system is back up and running after the tech visit yesterday. I spoke with a very nice tech support, Rae Ovilla. She assured me that the inverter is in working condition and generating power. She also cleared some notification alerts on my system. Our solar inverter is out. It is under warranty. Called to get it fixed they told us 2 weeks to even schedule an appointment. Had to keep calling to finally get someone out to tell us the inverter is shot (we already knew that). Now we have to wait to get it ordered (been a week already, they still haven't bothered to order it) won't schedule us to fix it until they get the part. Worst customer service. Ridiculous. Don't buy from them. Solar is only good if it works. No they don't stand by their product and now we are out the money we paid for solar as well as not benefiting from lower energy bill. read more

Rarely do I waste bandwidth on a company publicly, but it is time for an exception. If you are considering using SunPower for a solar system at your house, beware - you can expect NO customer service, warranty or not. I am happy to talk to anyone about the poor experience I have had with this company, to save people the trouble and waste. In 2007, Regrid Power of Campbell, CA installed a 2.8KW array, using Sunpower panels and inverter. In 2017, I called Regrid because I found the ground fault light was on on my inverter. They stated "We no longer work on Sunpower Equipment." No reason given, I was just told to call Sunpower. Queue the runaround. Sunpower kept giving me names of dealers to call and arrange my own repairs. After 2 years of trying to get someone to come out, I gave up. Last year, after getting a $2000 trueup bill, I decided to try once more with Sunpower. They are stating that all repairs will have to be at my cost, since their equipment is out of warranty. Just to get to this point has taken 2 months with them. After 6 years, this is the answer I get from sunpower support: "Unfortunately we cannot cater the inverter that you have, please go directly to SMA America for the order. SMA-America Toll Free Service Line at +1-877-697-6283: (Mon-Fri from 6 am to 5 pm, Pacific Time, UTC-8)." In short, I would not choose to use Sunpower again, ever. Their lack of customer service has nearly cost me more than the rebates on the original purchase, and if I wanted to source and install my own equipment, I would have become an electrician. read more

Can't say enough good things about the system installed on my new home. New build with 4kW equinox series. Really good looking panels, simple, intuitive app and webpage. A few hiccups in getting the initial PTO, but not worth taking off a star. Because the new home is so energy efficient, offseting over 100% electricity for the first month. Yes, no AC this last month, but to get 120% generation with a smaller system is outstanding. Even on cloudy days get decent power. Meleah Sellers was my onsite final installer and she was great! Efficient to a fault. Yes, I know, a bit glowing. But what can I say...job well done! read more

Update: 09-15-23: I am still waiting to have the solar inverter installed. It is been about 6 months now. I was told that the manufacturer of my current inverter is experiencing delays so they are looking for alternatives but I did not receive any communication since then. I moved into a house that had solar and everything is fine until it wasnt. Once the inverter had a fatal error I called in 8/18/23 following their process and when I heard nothing for 5 days I called back on 8/26 and they claimed the claim was processed 8/23, FIVE days after I reported it!!! (strike#1) That representative didnt sound confident so I called back 2 days later to follow up and they said they would "prioritize" my issue. 9/5 I talked to "Joe" and he told me that "Kenna" was handling my case and would contact me before Friday that week, that time came and went. Called yesterday and talked with "Ella" and was told I would be called later at 1pm with an update, that time came and went , no voicemail or email recieved the whole day(strike#2). She told me they had the email address wrong after the previous representative said the same thing, I guess she forgot to hit save. Fast forward to today and after today's call with "Clarice" I demanded the case manager "Kenna" email me so I can check up with her directly instead of calling in. The number 1 thing I tell people about solar is who will burden the warranty. If that company has good rating on the back end when the system goes down, you found yourself the best company to give your money to. read more

Everyone will promise you the moon when trying to sell you their system - but its the service after the sale where they fail, or get bought out or just close their doors. SunPower answers my crazy questions about output and clouds and rain, and the provide instant access to the status of your system through an app. They keep you informed through emails and are always pleasant to speak with. read more

The initial process from sales to contract signing was great. Kyle with sales and sue with the project coordination really got through the installation schedule very fast and efficiently. Problems started when they arrived for the installation. The panels were not installed per the drawings. The inside flex conduit was stretched like a water hose pulling the wiring from my breaker panels based on how stretched it was. Multiple holes were left in my walls which are still unpatched. When I brought this up to the sales dep. they came out the following week and explained that they needed to add another switch because of the distance but wouldn't unless I said something. Then of course I paid cash for the system and upon turning it on and immediately not working, everyone had gone silent. The sales rep quit, the project manager has said it's not his issue and to talk to customer service (on multiple occasions). When contacted tech support to submit service tickets to get it to work they even mentioned a ticket should have been submitted after energizing the system but of course, the project coordinator didn't care so he didn't. The customer service staff try to help, but are met with the same, if not worse response from their supervisors to relay to me, which has been 'we will get back to you' which they never do. All their answers and excuses are scripted. always say "the project manager is with another homeowner on the phone, but asked me to relay XXX, the manager is not available now, but i will personally call you in the morning with her on the line" and they never do". It has gotten to the point that after being placed on hold, I tell the rep "so, this is what you're going to say now, because that's the script and ive heard it before" and all they do is laugh because it was exactly what they were going to say. Now I'm sitting with 56k worth of solar panels on my roof, completely dead and useless, and never worked., and the only response I get is 'Our next appt is in October You want to cancel it ?! (The installation was in July!), and this is just to check the system, who knows when it will be functional? Now looking at all these reviews, it seems that everyone (hundreds if not thousands of consumers) is going through an identical experience. We all get the same scripted responses "A member of the escalation team will reach out in 1-3 business days" and they never do, and nothing ever happens beyond that. I highly recommend you stay away. It is not worth the trouble, carelessness, and aggravation. Definitely the worst experience I've ever encountered with any company. And what makes it worse is that while the reps try to help, you can hear in their voice they're met with the same arrogance and helplessness from their own team. SunPowers long history is what brought me to buy their panels, but this has been a nightmare of a company to deal with, and 50K out of my pocket on panels that don't work, and when they do, who knows for how may days they'll stay functional. Customer Service is HORRIBLE!! I got my solar installed in Nov 2022 and prior to the installation, I was told that my roof is in good condition so we proceed with the installation and purchased the panels in full. Just Jan of 2023, there was a leaks from our roof, my roof contractor came out and they said my roof was so bad condition, my whole underlayment needs to be replaced and there was a lot of rotten wood. I contacted Sunpower in February 2023 for the quote for removal and installation, and did not receive anything after few weeks so I followed up with another call. I was told that the other agent didn't submit a request. They finally did and I got an email from them asking me how many panels I have on 2/28. I replied to the email same day and followed up 3/17, 3/24 and 3/31 asking for the quote. Never got a response. I called them again and they finally got me the quote on 4/6 and it was estimated at $2,462.50 that include all onsite visits and labor. Additional cost for materials will be provide once initial visit completes. I called the SunPower and asked if I'm able to go with other Sunpower authorized vendor to compare prices but was told I had to go through Sunpower for the job (they outsource it to a 3rd party vendor). However, two different reps told me later on that I could of went to any Sunpower authorized vendor for the job directly because I purchased my panels in full. I found out about this after half the job was done and I'm stuck with having SunPower being the middle man the the remainder of the job and they are so bad with communications . Removal happened in beginning of May 2023 and I was able to get my roof fixed within a week so I contacted Sunpower to get me scheduled for the reinstallation. They scheduled me on 6/5 and the 3rd party (NovaSource) came to to do the reinstallation. I was told by the crew that they had wrong materials and that some of the materials weren't even for my type of roof. After sitting in their car for 2+ hours waiting for instructions, they started doing some installation. They told me they were instructed by Sunpower to use a old method of installation and was able to install some mounts on my roof. Towards the end, they told me they can't complete the installation because they were missing some Sunpower specific bolts and it needs to be ordered and then they'll be able to put my panels back up. They claimed that Sunpower ordered the wrong parts. I patiently waited for about 2 weeks for the communication to flow between Sunpower and NovaSource. Didn't hear from them so starting 6/20, I started to follow up with both parties. NovaSource tells me that they are waiting for SunPower to approve the revised quote and Sunpower saying they didn't receive anything and they been following up with NovaSource to have me reschedule for the reinstallation. I called both parties each week and talk to tons of different customer support reps and spent numerous hours dealing with this issue, repeating my situation over and over again to different rep and on the phone a hour at a time. I was given mulitple false promises from the SunPower rep that they will call me and stay on top of the case but they don't. I requested my case to be escalated to a supervisor but all they tell me was they will follow up with NovaSource. No updates. Beginning of August, I was told everything is all cleared and that I am just waiting for a call to be rescheduled. After a week has passed, NOTHING. I followed up with NovaSource again and they said they are still waiting for Sunpower to revised quote. I am now back to square one again! I called Sunpower and told them I'm in this constant loop that NovaSource is saying they are waiting for Sunpower and Sunpower is saying they didn't get anything or everything is cleared. After talking to multiple Sunpower rep, I finally got a rep that went to the bottom of this and got the the revised quote within 2 days. I finally got the revised quote on 8/14 and the estimate was double! $4,798.40. I have requested for a detailed breakdown and explanation of the price doubling. After another two weeks of waiting for the supervisor, all she replied was that the amount is the final price for them to finish the job. No detail breakdown, no explanation. I asked the case to be escalated to a manager on 8/24. Manager called on 8/25, she said she will reach out to NovaSouce and told me she will get back to me within the same week. NOTHING. I followed up on 9/5 and then she said she will get back to me by Friday. I had to follow up on Friday and she replied that hourly labor charge was added due to additional labor needed to complete this. Again, no breakdown and no detail explanation. Why do I need to pay for SunPower or NovaSouce's mistake? Who's going to credit me on all the time and money lost with no solar in the middle of summer for 3+month? My issue is still not resolved to this day and Sunpower is not taking any responsibility with this. =( read more

He called me ahead of time and told me everything that I would need so that it could be prepared when he got here and because of that the whole process took less than 30 minutes. John Villafana was my Technician and he was amazing. Professional and friendly. First off I'm new to the solar experience. John everything from the money he arrived and what to expect . He stayed and continued to work on starting my solar panels until he got them to work . Which was tan easy task . He started from from 5 panels response until he got 9 to respond . And even then continued to try to correct it on his end . After all was exhausted he scheduled appointment for solar panel installer to come and evaluate the problem for me . He let me know he will be to continue to help if I have any issues along the way . Stay away from this company! The panels came with the house when we bought it in August 2021, I loved the house but I wish we had thought taking over the lease from the previous owners. I only knew my system was down when I received a bill from my electricity company. I call sun power and after weeks of back and forth, no resolution. All they know to say is "a manager will give you a call back tomorrow". They supposedly sent a work order to NOVA SOURCE and when I call them, they say they never received anything. I am beyond frustrated paying an extra bill for no reason, the representatives never want to put you on the phone with someone higher up to look further into the matter. You as a customer are left at their discretion. read more

Panels worked for about 2 months and then 9 panels stopped working. They havent worked since April (~5 months). Ive been calling repeatedly and I keep hearing the same story - "we are working on it". They finally sent someone out to inspect the system ~10 days ago and he said there was likely a problem with the hardware and it needed to be replaced. I called again today and they are "still working on the report". Very frustrating. read more
