We had our solar panels activated on our new home build today and the technician Julian Sierra was great! He arrived within the anticipated timeframe and was quick to get my system up and running. He warned me ahead of time the need to shut off the power for a short time which was helpful as I work from home--it was down for just a few minutes and I had no connection issues once it was back on. He showed me the kw that my home was using and how much the solar panels were generating. The app was easy to download and get access to and overall it was a great appointment! read more

Purchased the Sunpower system and installed by Semper Solaris in San Diego. Mid December of 2021, the system red lighted and stopped producing electricity. I contacted Semper Solaris and customer representative "Rebecca" was assigned my case. The system was finally fixed in early February by SunPower technicians. They left documentation instructing me to "reach out to billing department for refund on loss of production". Loss of production was $125.59. On February 10, 2022, I texted "Rebecca" and asked her for billing POC. She failed to provide that information. I contacted Sun Power directly on website Chat. On March 1, 2022 at 6:08pm , I received a voicemail from them indicating reimbursement would be discussed with a "supervisor" and that case number 266-4994 had been assigned my case. I have not heard back. Poor customer service and 2 star rating is being generous. Received a check for $125.59 last week. I was required to put a great deal of effort into getting my system repaired and compensated for energy loss. I upgraded my review to reflect me being made "whole" again. read more

I would definitely NOT recommend SunPower Solar. I purchased one of their solar power panel systems for my large single-family home, about 7 years ago. My system consists of 31 panels installed on my roof, which I was told by my salesperson, would OVER-generate the amount of power I use every month. The first few years were great; I would receive Edison (electric utility) bills for less than $5 per month, and that was basically just to cover local taxes and connection to the power lines. At that time, I was running an extremely busy home office and loved that I could work from home without worrying about astronomical electric bills. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I had to close sell my business and am no longer utilizing a home office. My adult children have moved out, and we're now a 3-person residence rather than 5. Our power usage has been reduced drastically over the past 2 years. We should be generating more than enough solar power, right? We received a bill from Edison in June 2021 for nearly $1,900, a cumulative amount for the previous 12 months. Needless to say, I was shocked...and a little outraged. I called Edison immediately and was told that our solar energy system was UNDER-producing, therefore, I was responsible for the full amount of the bill. I contacted my SunPower salesperson, who said he'd "look into it" for me. Shortly thereafter, one of their technicians scheduled an appointment to come out and inspect our system; the technician said he needed to "make some adjustments" and returned the next day to do so. As far as I knew, the system was then working as expected; however, I still had to pay the $1800+ Edison bill. Fast forward to June 2022, and I received my annual cumulative bill...this time it's just under $2,300! As you can imagine, I called SunPower within moments of receiving this bill, and explained the situation AGAIN to the representative with whom I'd been connected. She assured me they would do some research, and SunPower would pay the exorbitant electric bill. She was also "escalating" my case to a supervisor, who would be in touch within 3 business days. On the fourth business day, I received a call from a supervisor named Nilasco, who had been assigned to my case. He immediately informed me SunPower would definitely NOT be paying the Edison bill, and suggested I contact Edison directly to ask how much my solar energy system was generating monthly. I did as he recommended and called him back: Edison stated my system is only generating approximately 525 kilowatts per month; however, my residence was using 1200-1400kw monthly. When installed, I was told the THIRTY-ONE panels I have (much more than the average home) would be producing upward of 2,000kw every month, on average. Supervisor Nilasco assured me he would "check things out" and get back to me ASAP. It has now been 15 days, and I've not heard back from him, nor has he responded to any of my emails or voice messages. I paid tens of thousands of dollars for this system in an effort to save on my monthly energy bills. The SunPower solar panels are now costing me more than I ever spent on power through Edison! The first few years, the system worked perfectly and was, in fact, keeping my electric utility bills at a minimum. Once I had the SunPower system paid in full (ahead of the payment plan schedule), the system is no longer producing as promised, and Customer Service is basically nonexistent. I'm at a loss and unsure how to move forward. Thankfully I was able to set up a payment plan with Edison to cover the $2,300 bill, while I research my options on how to proceed with SunPower. My heartfelt recommendation, after all this, is DO NOT obtain solar energy panels through SunPower! read more

This company is the best among others based on the reviews they have. But believe me, it doesn't make sense to pay them even one dollar more from the cheapest one on the market. I started my project 1 year and 3 months ago, and it is still doesn't finalize. They place panels on my garage without verifying whether it is permitted or not. They dig a trench in my backyard, remove all pavers, and never fix it back. According to the project coordinator, it is the fault of contractors they hired, but for some reasons, they dint send anyone to fix it. When I reached out to BBB and asked for help, someone called me from sunpower and kept insisting that I was connected to the DWP. What was my surprise when I received my bill and figured out that I was not connected. I chose them for cutomer care because they got best reviews among others, but I was wrong. If you choose cheap ones, at least you will save money. read more

I just had my solar installed and have passed all of my inspections with SunPower. I am very pleased with their professionalism and customer service overall and would recommend them enthusiastically. My sales rep, Rebecca is a sales rockstar and her install project manager Jackie did an excellent job of setting expectations and supporting me every step of the way in spite of COVID 19 and the scheduling changes. Everyone was caring, flexible and attentive. The install team was amazing! . Julius and the team were on time, did a very careful and thoughtful install in 4 hours, complete with painting the conduit inside and out. Great work. Recently moved into my newly built home with Sunpower Corp. contracted through my home builders. The solar panels were brand new along with my house. I took the initiative to call Sunpower to activate my solar account. PG&E gave Sunpower the green light to activate. Sunpower sent a tech who arrived at my house and "activated" my system. A month later, my PG&E bill displayed a significantly large true-up. PG&E told me that my solar panels weren't producing and Sunpower should do right by covering the initial costs. I called Sunpower's customer service line, which is based outside of the U.S. The Customer Service reps provided no help as they appeared to have no authority. Its " please hold" after "please hold" for lengthy times. After calling the company that built my home and contracted with SunPower, I was able to reach an employee who appeared to be local. Mind you, I've only been able to speak with him one time and all other attempts have failed. The rep essentially told me that there was nothing that could be done "today" and I'd have to wait till the end of year to follow up. Translation- I would start my brand new contract in the hole (owing PG&E True-ups $$$). Not a good feeling. Fast forward a couple months, the weather is hot and skies are clear. However, I religiously follow my panel's production on the Sunpower app. I noticed my system wasn't producing enough Kilowatts signaling red flags. My PG&E true-ups were still accumulating every month. This didn't make sense as my household uses electricity very conservatively. Once again, I called and called and called. After expending tons of time and energy for customer service, I had a tech take a look at my "BRAND NEW system." He stated that two of the panels weren't connected properly but have been fixed. I felt a sigh of relief. Fast forward a couple weeks, I noticed my production was weak. I called and called again for answers as my true-ups increased and production was low. I was told over the phone that my panels showed signs of error for 14 days within the month I was calling about. However, shortly thereafter, I received an email indicating that my system appeared to be on target to hit its contractual mark. Simple math says otherwise. It feels really bad when you call for customer service and you cannot reach anyone stationed locally who can assist you. Every time I call the customer service line, I'm forwarded outside of the U.S. and waste over an hour minimally trying to get answers. Point is, I regrettably have a long contract with SunPower ahead and I don't feel reassured that things will be operating as promised. I have numerous reference numbers from prior calls and will continue to document everything rigorously. It's unfortunate because who wants to do that for a service you pay for.... read more

Everything worked great with our system for the first two years, and then we started having some trouble with the system. It took a little bit longer than I would have liked for things to get resolved, but SunPower did finally come through for us and even reimbursed us for the power we would have been generating. The turned a troubling situation around and in the end I'm again proud to be a SunPower customer! So at this time we're back up and running, and hope to have many more years of trouble free operation. read more

At one point our system was completely down and Sunpowers poor customer service just dragged out the fixings our system while we rack up electric bills and still paying for a system that didn't work. I called them in January 2023 to let them know my inverter was no longer working. And it is now 6 months later and it STILL has not been replaced. I have spent hours on the phone and communicating via email back and forth with their people, pleading with them to get it fixed and over and over again I am lied to and put off with excuse after excuse. They have sent two technicians out to access it and the second technician had to argue and argue with the rep explaining that the inverter was no longer working, just as I had already told them. That was months ago. The unit is still under warranty and this is how I'm treated? I paid a lot of money for my solar setup and right now it is as worthless as a paperweight. Please save yourself many headaches and steer clear of SunPower, or believe me, you will regret it. Oh and they don't even deserve a one star rating but I had to select something. read more

It is really disappointing to have to leave this review. We had Sunpower solar panels installed on our home in San Francisco several years ago and they have been working well. Sunpower has also done good maintenance, active monitoring and troubleshooting and required upgrades when necessary. So it was a surprise when we experienced so much difficulty trying to get a home solar battery system installed from Sunpower. The process has been chaotic and poorly organized from the start and now we are *frozen* midway through with no one answering my calls or emails for weeks! When I try to call them I am placed in a "musical" hold for at least 30 minutes (at which point I give up). At this point, I am considering going for a Tesla Powerwall instead (and who wants to do that!). read more

This is a Lease, because as a Senior Citizen could not take care of solar system and climbing on a roof was not for me. Lease promised to take care of everything including insuring in case of fire..too good to be true... Yes, it was. Have had system for 2 years, last year it went out and again this year. May 22 & 23rd, 2020, Emailed Sunpower because the Sunpower app told me system not working properly. May 26th 2020, Realizing it was a holiday weekend, I called Sunpower on. Was told by Sunpower rep that I had to go outside and start switching breakers on and off, after losing power to half our home, the rep just got disconnected and did not bother to call back. I was stuck with half of our home without power and no one to help. Called P G & E who sent a tech out who checked the system and got our power back..Hurrah for P G & E. Called Sunpower again and was told someone would contact me and fix our system, June 11th, received an email from Sunpower saying that someone would contact us shortly. June 14th, emailed Sunpower as no one had contacted us. 25 days since asking for help, nearly a month of no accurate solar reporting and the last few days whole Sunpower system down. June 18th, FINALLY a tech arrived, it took almost a day but, he told me when he left that system was fixed, give it a day or two and I should on the Sunpower app see it was working. June 22nd, called Sunpower, app not working so obviously system was still down. No, they were monitoring the system and it was taking longer than they thought to get it up and working. June 23rd, Finally system up and working after over a month. I do not understand how Sunpower can be constantly monitoring our system, yet not know when its system starts to fail or even when it fails completely as mine did. I had to call and tell Sunpower, not once, but many times and taking a month to fix it is horrible service. I pay for this lease on time every month, you just seem to mess up at least once a year, big time, funny always towards end of PG&E paying rebate and throwing a few dollars at me for your errors does not cut it. Stay far away from this company! My system was not producing for 9 months. After calling them many times they then sent a repair company to fix the system. The repair people did not fix the system and after 3 months of calling Sunpower to get them to fix the system I still have a broken system. Update 4/26: I FINALLY had their subcontractors reinstall my solar. It only took two and and a half months DESPITE having my case escalated. I heard from my escalation manager twice (that is two times total across two different managers) and the only way I got the service completed was by working directly with the subcontractors. Again....DO NOT go to Sunpower. Once the solar is installed you're on you own. If you don't believe me, call support and request they follow up with you on a case. You will NOT hear back at all. read more

I've been holding off on this review, hoping we'd get some resolution!  But, alas that doesn't seem likely at this point; so here goes...  On Feb 17th, 2023 we had a second solar array installed on our roof by Hooked On Solar company...   All the business elements and installation (executed by Hooked On Solar) went off flawlessly and I have nothing but good things to say about this company... Our issues started when we had to work with SunPower (Parent Company of Hooked on Solar, and responsible for service)..  Our array monitoring indicated that one of the twenty-five new panels installed was not working (never worked from day 1).  We called SunPower multiple times and went thru resets via the phone with no luck.  Finally on May 2nd a technician came out and spent ~2 hrs. on the roof taking measurements and photos; when he came down he stated the panel was bad and needed to be replaced.  After that we heard nothing from SunPower.  Again, we contacted SunPower and finally on May 24th they sent out a second technician who took the same readings and photos as the May 2nd technician and stated the panel was dead and should be replaced.  Well, again we heard nothing from SunPower for about a month, finally on July 26th a 3rd technician came out and performed the same inspection, measurements etc... as the previous two technicians, and came to the same conclusion that the panel in question is dead and should be replaced.  Well. it's now September 4th (almost seven months from installation), the dead panel is still dead, we've heard nothing back from SunPower, again!!!  My recommendation to anyone looking to install solar, is AVOID THE "BIG" GUYS!  Especially SunPower...  Do your homework.  Bigger is not better, just louder! read more

I've had Sunpower Solar on my rooftop for almost 10 years now. It's kind of changed my perception of the weather I used to like rainy days and now I really like sunny days because I know I'm producing a ton of power. I do have another brand of solar panels on my home as well and I didn't think they looked bad but my wife really liked the look of the black Sunpower panels we installed on the garage. So she made me move my blue conventional solar panels and put Sunpower on the front of our home. I can't say enough great things about this company. Decided to use the chat function and expected to wait forever or get a bot that would lead me down an endless rabbit hole of options. Instead I was connected to Beverly who graciously helped me with my issue and also went above and beyond my request to help me set up my account. I had a moment where I walked away to do something, but wasn't disconnected like most chats do when you are idle. Initial sales process was informative and we made our decision primarily on the quality of the panels. The administration of our install was very disappointing. Sales mentioned the install could be done in 4 months, but it took 6. Now at least they're upfront with that fact, but we were never told. Any communication with our supposed project manager was not allowed (company or personnel policy?) and any input I gave per homeowners association or any questions were totally ignored (emails or attempts to talk with this individual). The message was clear...we're way too busy for you, shut up, the job will get done eventually. Fortunately, the installers were great (could even speak with them after install!)). No complaints with the System. However, I feel that if we ever need any service or repairs, it will be a nightmare! read more

I have had Sunpower Solar panels for the past 8-9 years and they work very well. My roof, however is 23 years old and I need to replace it. The contractor who installed the panels, Bertek Energy, indicated that they would not remove/replace the panels unless they also replaced my roof. Their estimate is CONSIDERABLY higher (10k) than my other estimate. I'm pretty sure it is just a scare tactic, and after reviewing my contract I see nothing that bonds me to them for the roofing. I tried 2x this week to call Sunpower's Customer Service line which seems to a be a call center in the Philippines to confirm the same. Despite the fact that the representatives were able to parrot back my questions, their responses bore no resemblance to what I was asking, and in the first case there were chickens making noise in the background while the representative was talking to me. He apologized for them. Wow! I am going to roll the dice here and go with another roofer. read more

Waiting since an Oct install to get broken tiles fixed, a new panel that was installed with deep gouge in it replaced, and for the online monitoring to work as advertised. you open a support ticket, they say someone will check it out, nothing happens.
