The indoor parking is very limited - just a few spaces and they are very narrow and awkward to navigate. I parked on the street outside but one time I got a ticket when my meter expired. Now I see the facility was taken over by another company - Modena - not sure why but I was told many of the staff stayed on. It is at the north end of Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle so if you're looking for a restaurant - there are plenty within a short walk. Just watch your parking though!

I didn't mind moving, but his aggression and attitude really turned me off. He yelled that I needed to follow the rules like everyone else..???? Very odd aggressive behavior for a small issue. Meals are not nutritious, too many carbs & too low protein, nor are they flavorful. My mother has lost weight in the three years she's been a resident because she won't eat what's served. During the COVID pandemic, Five Star has made money by not providing what residents are paying big bucks for. The socially distanced activities are poor. They should be ashamed offering hallway bingo, hallway mixers & a rolling library cart for months! And, these boring, unimaginative & unstimulating activities are provided on alternative floors. Residents go for weeks with nothing. They're also saving money by scaling back the menu & having residents preorder. Much less waste, no serving staff, etc. Attempts to improve conditions have fell on deaf ears. To add insult to injury, Five Star has declined an offer for FREE on-site COVID testing of residents provided by Montgomery County. No reason was given.

It is absolutely a fantastic place in every way: the staff (*terrific*, numerous, always available, extremely patient & accommodating), the food (really delicious & varied), the programs (*300* activities per month), the interior (gorgeous & soothing), the physical setting (lovely & wooded, yet very convenient) and the general overall ambiance. The rental cost is undeniably very pricey in order to pay for all of the aforementioned, but we're very relieved that my mother can manage to afford such a pleasant situation at this stage of life.

There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. Visits from family members are easily scheduled. It's a good place.

Subsequently, I spoke to my friends' daughter who told me "since her mother broke her arm, she was not participating in activities, and was too tired from too many visitors. The supervisor's recommendation was no visitors other than once a week from each daughter, as per my friend. My friend is 97 yeaars old. The elderly NEED verbal stimulation, not isolation. My friend, the elderly lady, does not like this place and has expressed it in no uncertain terms. My experience with ideas like this ends in the life of the elderly person in less than 8 weeks. My friend (the daughter) has placed her mother in a prison because caing for her mother is an inconvenience.

It was pretty resident-centered when I moved in but the culture has changed to be much more staff-centered. They will make changes for the convenience of staff almost instantly even if they are a great inconvenience to residents, e.g., requiring residents to submit meal orders by 8 AM the day before the meal. They have been moving work normally done by staff to residents. For example, they switched trash/recycling contractors to one which will recycle much less. Residents are now collecting much of the recyclables and transporting itself to the Transfer Station. On the positive side, apartment layouts are superior to any other community I visited. It is a very friendly community.

The staff is loving and caring to the patients requiring care there. Attentive to their needs in a timely fashion. Personally, Peter the regular nurse on day duty is excellent. The physical therapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist provided exceptional care in getting her ready to return home. The facility is very clean and provides a safe environment for those who stay there. The food they serve is prepared by a chef and is not institutional food you find in many hospital centers. Mom had no complaints and enjoyed her meals. Administrate process was very easy getting her in and releasing her. Chris was very helpful. The staff to resident ratio is alarming and something the state should look into. I was there for a couple of hours and honestly seen only one nurse(?)/attendant and one person cleaning. The wait to enter the facility is lengthy. No one answers the bell, the residents have to see you at the door and yell to someone that someone is at the door. It's a sad state of affairs the care or lack thereof rendered to our oldest and neediest population. This place is marginally better than some of the others that service this demographic but that's not saying much. This place is better than being on the street, I suppose.

Originally, our scheduled walk though was great. The staff was welcoming and it smelled like…read moredisinfective. The smell changed after my first visit. The staff was very rude and even throw her hands up to indicate she couldn't help me find ice. My grandmother was here for a month and a half. She walked in happy and very independent. During her stay, she was verbally abused, neglected which caused her to fall and not checked on that lead to bed sores. We had to move her, she was in horrible pain one night. Due to her stage four cancer, she need to feel comfortable. However, she pressed the bell and the nurse came in, snatched the bell out of the wall, and told her to stop using it. When we stayed with her, they never came in. They just walked around in their face mask due to lack of cleaning of the facility. I only saw the other residents when their family were there visiting. Other than that, they stayed in bed and left alone all day. Pay attention to the signs: scheduled visits are not needed. Staff wear face mask. You don't see other residents out of their beds. They told us my grandmother was crazy and she did not fall. I wouldn't recommend this place for dog boarding!
