Unremarkable on the outside, extreme goodness on the inside. The folks running the place couldn't be any nicer, and the locals clearly enjoyed chatting with the friendly staff. I saw other reviews of the Irish breakfast, and I had to try it out. First, out came four slices of Texas toast- an appetizer? The warm up act? Them the main dish -eggs, sausages, Irish bacon, and both white and black pudding (AKA more sausage). I'm not entirely positive the puds were 100% traditional -that is to say, so metallic tang from blood, but maybe that's actually a good thing!

This little diner has great food and chill attitude. I really enjoyed the eggs Benedict surg salmon (I got a side salad instead of the home fries). Orange juice was squeezed on the spot tooa Will definitely be back!

We had another marvelous breakfast this morning. Today we sat outside and the choice to do so, was correct. The area is quiet and there was a nice cool breeze. I got the Irish omelette and it was perfect. The serving was enough for two, but this Irish guy polished off his breakfast. My gf got another type off omelettte which had cheddar cheese and it too was out of this world. Both came with toast and home fries. Hilda took care of us and the service was great. My friend and I traveled to Boston, MA, from Houston, TX, for a vacation and decided to stop into the Sunshine Café for breakfast on 9/29/23. It was not a pleasant experience and the food was mediocre at best. The owner was very gruff with us and questioned when I asked for cheese on my scrambled eggs. He seemed very put out when we asked for things like cream for coffee or a cup of ice to go with a can of Coke. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and buttermilk pancakes. Both the eggs and pancakes tasted like they had been cooked in a pan used for other things and not cleaned first. The eggs actually had a sweet flavor to them; not good. And look at the cheese they put on my scrambled eggs! What is this? Whatever cheese they used was super cheap and nasty. Even Velveeta tastes better. The buttermilk pancakes were not very good at all either. McDonalds has better pancakes and honestly, I can make them much better using a Betty Crocker cookbook recipe. My friend ordered eggs and toast and she also said it was also not great. I honestly cannot believe that this restaurant gets the reviews that it does! If you think this place has good pancakes, you have not traveled to the Midwest - especially places in Minnesota - where pancakes are the bomb! We also thought the prices were too high considering the quality of the food. Again, would have been better off going to somewhere else but decided to try this place because of the reviews. I cannot recommend this place AT ALL. Go somewhere else in Boston where you don't have to put up with the owner's attitude and the poor taste of this place's food.

Every time I come here, I am stunned by the portions. For 8.95, I received a generous helping of homefries, two pieces of buttery toast, a little side of strawberries and bananas, and the main course, the giant steak bomb omelet. It was delicious and I was full quickly. You cannot beat the food which reminds me of my mom making me breakfast as a child, the prices, or the kindness of the owner and his family who cook and operate the business on their own. We were in town for a wedding and stopped here on our way home for breakfast. Decor could use a bit of updating and the tables could be a bit less sticky but both could be overlooked when the food and service are fantastic as they are here. So glad we found this gem! read more

Personally this place was not my cup of tea. Cheap looking furniture and no booths. I also didn't like anything about my meal. Corn beef eggs Benedict was ACTUALLY corn beef hash, which I asked prior because I do not like corn beef hash(but still got it). Also the English muffin was soft and the hollandaise sauce seemed to be out of a can. Also not a fan of homefries and that's the only option they had. Food was way overpriced too! Over 30$ and so not worth it. Waitress was nice but took forever to get the bill. Also forgot my boyfriends toast, which would have been something I could've enjoyed. read more

Worst steak and eggs on the planet. Dry, hard, flavorless and dressed with steak sauce to try to cover up the lack of quality. Didn't even bring out our full order with multiple items missing. When we said something about the steak being dry we got a shoulder shrug. Eventually we were given a non itemized bill with no idea what we were charged for until asking for clarification. Too much effort to have pretty mediocre breakfast food that can be found in multiple places a short distance away. I have no idea why this place (at the time of this review but hopefully not for long) has an average of four stars. read more

Nice little breakfast joint in town. Open early too. The owner makes sure the food is quality, and adds a nice touch with fruit, even if it is just a small thing. Been here a couple of times and it has been consistent. Don't expect the Ritz or Denny's. Its unique Norwood old school. read more

Coming off a 12hr shift was hungry and not in the mood to cook so always drove bye in way home to Dedham & boy I'm glad I did! Big portions, I got the Pancake Combo which was delicious the hubby got the Steak Tip Breakfast he was pleased. Walking in seeing the Lil'Mom & Pop place was pretty busy for a Friday morning. But definitely recommend place is good! read more

This is a go to for breakfast for me. Never had a bad experience here in the four times I have been. I have tried a few items on the menu and have yet to regret them. My most recent menu try was the Egg White Chicken Breakfast Burrito. It was great! I changed the American cheese on it to cheddar for my own preferences, but other then that things were so good. My boyfriend is always pleased with his choice of an omelette usually and we LOVE the orange juice, it is a must have here! read more

Very impressed with the breakfast here. The portion sizes are massive and the cheese is gooey fresh! The best part of the visit was when the gentleman who was waiting our table asked "How was it?" we replied Great! You can see in his eyes and smile that he was truly pleased to see us happy with the food they prepared. Great stuff here, will definitely return and you should too! read more

Mediocre breakfast. The décor is boring, with not much thought having gone into it. Prices were ok though. What we didn't like is that you have to get up and pay at the counter. You don't get to scrutinize your bill and question it if you want or see the breakdown. read more

This place looks sketchy from the outside since they have some bad signage.... However..... Do ignore! Great food, great people, and fresh squeezed OJ! They have a crazy machine that juices whole oranges.. It's like smashing your face into orange.... Soo good. They also make donuts which were very good. The owner is a really nice guy. On my way home from logan airport I stopped by here for my first time. It was perfect all around, great home style feeling. Fresh press OJ was amazing! I got french toast, eggs, and bacon which were on point. What I assume was the owner took our order and then cooked our food, he was extremely nice and friendly. Small but cute place with about 20 tables. Greeted right away from a man whose name I believe was Ed. Many regulars who he knew by name and what they would want to drink as the came in. He was friendly and kind. I stopped in to by time for an appointment that I had in the area but would highly recommend it. Food and service was superb! read more

Had a delicious breakfast with my family here. The fresh squeezed orange juice and espresso really hit the spot. The portions were very generous and I was pleased that my side fruit plate included a delicious variety of fresh fruit including kiwi, banana, strawberries, banana and melon all which was freshly cut. Food was great. I orders french toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The french toast was delicious. They added powdered sugar on the top. There was a lot of food and I was stuffed afterwards. My friend got the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and ham. He was a big fan of the pancakes. He didn't like the ham as much. We also ordered the orange juice and it was delicious. You could see the machine they make it in behind the counter. The price was good! I would come here rather than ihop anytime. read more

It's colorful, it's groovy, it's bright, it's nostalgic. Even the employees are wearing shirts with funky themes and patterns. There are TVs showing shows from back then. The floors are checkered, the ceiling is silver, the chairs are red and the tables are blue. We were seated at a booth, which can more than comfortably sit 4-6 people. The menu is HUGE, think cheesecake factory but for a diner. There's a little bit of everything but the font and everything around it makes it hard to focus on what each item is. I went very simple and chose the Simon and Garfunkel which included two pancakes or French toast, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, toast, and home fries for $18.99. After about 15 minutes, our food came out. The bacon could have been crispier, with some parts being wobbly. The sausage was thick, juicy, and savory. The potatoes were a little bland and mushy on the outside. The eggs were cooked medium, just how I requested them, and the englush muffin was a little different than your traditional ones since it didn't have the little pockets of air but it was still good. The French toast was moist, but I wish it had more cinnamon - the egg was the dominant flavor. Overall, it was a very satisfying breakfast. There is plenty of parking as it's in a plaza

Owned and run by the same couple for at least 20 years, this place is consistently the very best in the area . Today was no different , scrambled eggs with jack cheese and a little hot sauce, delicious sausage links, fabulous home fries and coffee. My breakfast partner got a meat lovers omelette in a roll up. I posted a few pics of the meals today . Note bread is served with the meals we ordered , but neither of us has room for the bread so we tell them to not put it in the plate . why waste it. Service is fabulous , she ( co-owner) recognizes us whenever we (or I alone) eat there, even though have not been here in a few months . In Fact , today, after I gave my order she reminded me that I usually have jack cheese melted in to my scrambled eggs , and did I want it today. Well that is amazing service seeing as it's been a few months since came here last time. ( we live several towns away , and eat here if some shopping or business escapade brings us to Norwood.) Food was on the table within 5 minutes of placing the order.. For ambiance , well , this is a real diner car restaurant. Stainless steel exterior and all.. there are not many of these remaining in the country. I think about 10 booths and 10 counter seats. The place seems like a potential Norman Rockwell painting . Alas, Norman is no longer available for this task. I believe it is a historic site building so the , down 2 steps to the bathroom , is allowed but keep in mind if you are not capable of making the trip down the stars. Honestly the only negative I can come up with is in the winter time don't sit near the door. There is no entrance vestibule so the cold can be noticed when the door opens and closes. I suspect that modifying the building may not be allowed to put one in anyway . Bottom line is don't hesitate , this is the best there is . For the next closest breakfast lunch restaurant that is of this quality you have to travel to the Wrentham - Franklin line on route 140 . I don't think we are allowed to mention other locations . But seriously , I have eaten at nearly every breakfast place there is and those 2 places are the only places to eat breakfast within a 15 mile radius.

My home fries were huge chunky seasoned potatoes, his were fried on the outside as expected of hash browns, mushy on the inside. Not so appetizing. The menu is very simple. While our initial waitress didn't give us the time of day, the young lady who brought our plates was a delight. She never missed a refill of water or coffee. The prices were about where you'd expect nothing outrageous. $38.00 for the two with coffee.

The issue was that I wasn't sure where to go for an online pickup, so I stood in line briefly, noticed the staff seemed occupied, and sat down at a table to wait for a natural moment to ask. At no point from the moment we walked through the door or stood in front of a cash register, were we greeted or acknowledged, which... busy or not, is pretty standard practice if a new person walks in. When we finally did ask someone about our order, we were essentially scolded in front of the entire restaurant for not speaking up sooner. We weren't frustrated about the wait. We were genuinely just asking how the online order process worked. The customer sitting at a table behind us even turned around to acknowledge how hostile the interaction felt. One great barista and one rough interaction, just sharing so the experience doesn't get repeated. I think next time I'll take the drive to the Dedham location or the well worth wait at Spot (always a good service experience there... despite how busy they always are).

You would never go in here if you were to just walk by, but it's a great deal and it's run by great people. This is the go-to place when the family goes out to breakfast. The owner is unbelievably nice and treats us as if we were his best customers every time we are there. There are toys along the windows that my kids are encouraged to check out - very family friendly. The menu is huge - both for breakfast and lunch (I've only ever had breakfast). The portions are equally huge. Other posters have mentioned the fresh fruit served with every plate as well as the free donuts for the kids every time we are there - the extras are what makes the value in my eyes. I joined yelp to review this restaurant if that influences anyone to try it. Best breakfast in town - there are others nearby in Norwood Center that are good as well, but this has become the only place we go in the morning for a family breakfast. read more

Came here with my friends and all I can say is wow! They offer such big portions and it was absolutely amazing! My friends got the special nutella stuffed French toast and we are addicted. I got the farmers omelette myself since the waitress said the omlettes were her favorite and she wasnt lying. They gave us free donuts before we left which made it the cherry on top.
