Looking for a new place for brunch came across this place through Yelp and gave it a shot. When you walk in you wonder whether it was a good choice, but the fresh squeeze orange juice sold me! (Yummiest I've had in a while). Brunch was good-I had the Mexican omelette with bacon, no complaints-loved the home fries, they were crispy (perhaps an acquired preference) my moms salmon Spanish sandwich was good as well. I'm giving them four stars because someone ordered the eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were overcooked (they are supposed to be runny and they were hard). Still all good service and we left happy. Some differing opinions on our brunch. One kid ate all the chocolate pancakes the other barely touched his plain ones. I tried the plain pancakes and thought they were very plain...and cold. My breakfast was good not great. I ordered the special version of the Benedict with salmon. It was decent but nothing stood out beyond what you might expect at a diner. My wife's Greek omelet was delicious according to her, but "just ok" to my father in law who ordered the same thing. I tasted it and agree with him. Mother in-law's veggie omelet described as ok. Certainly there was plenty of food and we didn't leave hungry. The waitress was very attentive and sweet. Plenty of coffee refills. It was busy on a Sunday morning but no lines. Overall it wasn't bad but I'm not running back given the choices in Westwood and Needham. We like checking out local joints and so we are glad we did. read more

Well over a year later, Sunrise Breakfast keeps us coming back every few weeks. Last time we tried, we were sadly disappointed that they were closed for vacation. But, it's so well deserved, we couldn't help but smile! Each time has been showered with delicious food, with friendly and prompt service. I've tried many of their omelets, which are all exquisite, and have occasionally indulged in a pancake or two. Home fries might need a tad improvement in the seasoning department, but that's just being nit-picky. Definitely going back for more very soon! read more

I was back for breakfast this morning during my annual visit to Norwood to photograph the Nutcracker. I was afraid my memory from my first visit to the restaurant last year had been built up in my mind and I would be disappointed with the reality. But my memory was spot on and my return visit did not disappoint. I absolutely love this modest place!! And I'm hard to please!! Quick service, great food, great prices. I'm a poached egg and English muffin gal and they were prepared to perfection. And the couple that runs it are friendly and have an endearing rapport. This morning there was a steady stream of what seemed like regulars. A great cast of characters that screams small New England town. The modest furnishings and decor with the happy diners creates for a comfortable and homey environment--perfect for breakfast. Just wish I lived a little closer so I could become a regular too! This breakfast spot is great. I've never gone in to wait long and the owner is so nice. Where it is close to my work, we are constantly ordering breakfast for our Friday morning meetings- omlettes, sandwiches, etc. The pick up time is quick, the food is hot and affordable. I started with the fresh squeezed orange juice which was excellent. Their menu is vast there is something for everyone. I had this Sophia special. It comes with a three egg cheese omelette three blueberry pancakes home fries and a side of toast. I also ordered a side of corn beef hash. The three egg cheese omelette was delicious. The blueberry pancakes were awesome. Served with plenty of butter and syrup. The corn beef hash was just how I like it. To top of a great meal the plate is topped of with a small side of fruit which is a true cherry on top. Found this place on yelp and went out on a limb and tried it and I'm so glad I did! Delicious! Everything seemed fresh. I ordered orange juice then saw my server literally grab oranges from the fridge and squeeze them right there! Huge portions and everything was delicious. A good example of massachusetts greasy spoon in downtown Norwood, MA. The place is dated but most greasy spoons are going to be. This place was okay overall, the servers were nice enough. The place was certainly busy, and people were waiting to eat. There is no buffer so the cold air enters freely. The place was busy and service slowed. The food was okay, portions of my food were cold. Eggs scrambled with mixed cheese ended up being American cheese placed on top. Homefries were cold. Toast was toasted but yet the butter was not melted. I can see if you live close to here and why it would have its appeals. But there are better greasy spoons out there. read more

Doing business in " suburban" Norwood, I asked my contact For a nearby "breakfast" place. I was given a national chain. Oh no, I mean a local diner type of place. He understood and recommended Sunrise. He got it right. Never having been to .Norwood I checked out Yelp and the first review was so complementary I knew that was the place. Typical grungy exterior and bacon smell upon entering, both positives for me. Much more exciting and extensive breakfast and lunch menu than would be expected including some Portuguese selections which surprised me given an owner who spoke Russian to some patrons. I chose my usual splurge when i've given up worrying about calories, Eggs Benedict. It came with three eggs with runny yolks ( the way I like them) on three English Muffin halves with homefries, banana and strawberry. ( Making it the healthy choice?) I was very happy with the eggs, the potatoes were lightly deep fried so I didn't feel a need to finish. There was a mix of regulars and newbys so I felt like I fit in and joined in the Patriots/ Red Sox conversation. There was a family who seemed only to speak Russian and a child watching a Russian movie on a hand held device. At first it felt this was intrusive but realized, hey, these immigrants like the same thing as me and chalked it up to the character and ambiance of the place. A nice diversion. So, great breakfast at an interesting place. The only thing that might keep me from running back is the thought that there are two additional diners within a hop, skip and jump. Kind of like sitting on the perfect Caribbean beach wondering if the one around the next point is better. No bike parking as such but plenty of street signs and downspouts to hitch up to. read more

I have not dined in, so my review is just for the doughnuts. I have been looking for some good home made doughnuts in the area. I was patronizing a couple of other businesses in the area and the sign caught my eye. I went in and asked if they made their own doughnuts, which they did, so I purchased a few to bring home. On the first bite, something seemed amiss. There was a strong taste from the cooking oil. After I ate about half the doughnut, the taste became over powering. I thought maybe it was just me. I offered one to my five year old. She picked a plain and got about half way through before she told me she didn't like it and wanted a chocolate instead. She got two bites into the chocolate and didn't want that either. My wife took one sniff and said the cooking oil was too old. She would not take a bite. read more

Boyfriend liked the Irish breakfast very much and the eggs Benedict special was very good. The smoked salmon was delicious, though the hollandaise was lacking. The fresh OJ alone was worth the trip. Service a little slow, but as the elderly folks running the place are the waiters, it's kind of sweet. My herbal tea came in a mismatched mug that made me smile like I was in someone's kitchen. Went to this little diner for the first time this past weekend. I was disappointed in myself that it was my first time visiting there having lived in The Wood for fifteen years. Stuck going to a couple of other spots. Well no more... This place beat the other places in town for breakfast by a wide margin. My only complaint was that they did not have booths. But no biggie... The portions are huge. I ordered the pancake combo and was amazed at the amount of food that came. I couldn't even finish it and I usually go IN on anything I order. The chica ordered the meat scramble and she liked it a great deal. Coffee was decent, but the piece d'resistance was the fresh squeezed OJ. Went to sunrise on a Sunday morning. With the few tables in the restaurant taken, we waited about 10 minutes but we were fine with that. So after one table left, we had to wait another 15 minutest or the table to be clean. The service was terrible because there was only one waitress for the 10 tables in the place. We finally ordered and had to wait 40 minutes for pancakes and home fries. Now we were aggravated because the food was not worth the wait. The pancakes weren't cooked all the way through and the home fries were hard as rocks. But, the manager didn't care. We won't be returning. read more
