Walking by after getting off the ship we couldn't help but notice the blueberry pies in the window. We had to stop by and grab a piece of blueberry pie before we got back on the ship, we did a lot of shopping. Ordering the piece of pie at $4 a slice we were literally drueling waiting for it. Stop in for breakfast. Service was fast and friendly. They have a great selection of coffees but the real stars here are the crepes. We had the blueberry crepe, fresh sweet blueberries with a topping of whipped cream, we also had the lobster crepe which was unbelievable from the presentation to the amount of lobster in it to the incredible flavor. Located right on the pier before people board their ship cruises, it is a highly trafficked area with people coming in and out. There are a few (maybe 5) small tables inside which is a bit cramped and a few benches and picnic tables scattered outside (to be used by others too, not just Sunrise Cafe customers). Unfortunately, they did not have a high chair for our 16 month old. Friendly service, but it is a mainly self service, meaning you order at the counter and don't get waited on. Self serve coffee. The blueberry coffee was delicious and the large was a decent size. They had a lot of fancier drinks too that other patrons seemed to enjoy. I enjoyed the lobster crepe. The crepe itself was outstanding. The slight sweetness of it balanced well with the lobster and the arugula gave a nice fresh peppery taste. The only thing is that the lobster was bland and a little dry. I wish the crepe came with a side of warm butter to really bring out the flavor of the lobster. Plentiful lobster though. My husband and I shared the cinnamon sugar crepe. It was fantastic. One of the best crepes I've ever had. My husband had the smoked salmon bagel which he was was "good but nothing special." For some reason I was craving crepes the entire time I was at Acadia. Wanted to come on Wednesday but it was closed for dinner. Came on a Thursday morning to find a closed sign on the door. Finally we made it in on Friday and had delicious blueberry and apple/prosciutto/cheese crepes. I know, I know, they are known for their lobster crepes, but I had literally had lobster for 4 days and just needed a break. We didn't have to wait at all, the service was quick and friendly and the crepes were fresh and had just the right amount of moisture and flavor. As we left the restaurant we saw the fresh blueberry pie they had sitting in the window and my BF was still talking about his regret 2 days later for not getting it. So great that even with all the places to eat in Bar Harbor, we came back for our second day to eat here. The crepes are amazing. I had the Salmon Crepe and husband had the Blueberry Crepe. He said the English muffin sandwich is the best he's ever had and can never eat a "McMuffin" again! :-D Great location on waterfront. The sandwiches were packed and delicious -- no complaints there. However, I got the lunch box option and they didn't include my drink. That was tough because I then took my box biking on the Acadia carriage roads, and I had less water than I thought I would. They also put two kosher dill pickles right next to the bread of the sandwich, so a good part of the bread got pretty soggy. The execution just wasn't 5 stars. read more

Oh my goodness! What a nice welcome to Bar Harbor! We were greeted by this adorable little crepe and coffee shop as we got off of our Royal Caribbean tender! Come here for a delicious, casual breakfast with a harbor view! Although they do serve your typical bagels, omelettes, and other breakfast fare, the crepes are outstanding. We chose savory crepes (bacon, egg, and cheddar / salmon and cream cheese), and were not disappointed. Not the cheapest breakfast, but dining in Bar Harbor is expensive in general. This is more of a take-out place. There is no indoor seating, but there is covered outdoor seating, where you can look out onto the harbor and watch the ferries board as you eat. Also VERY good!! The service is also fast and friendly. The gentleman that took care of us was a gem. The is located right on the lower level of the pier on the water side. The Sunrise Cafe is a relatively hidden gem. It is at the bottom of the ramp in the same building as the Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company-near the Town Dock. Since it was so convenient to our hotel, the West Street Hotel, we tried it, and we were so glad we did. We did takeout two mornings for breakfast and it was great. The crepes were delicious, the cinnamon rolls are big and well frosted, and the breakfast sandwiches were excellent. The prices were very reasonable. My husband and I both got the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin: egg, bacon and cheese. Not sure if the muffin is made there but it was thicker and fluffier than your average English muffin. Bacon was crisp and cheese was gooey and good. These were pretty tasty and for $5.50 it was a reasonable breakfast option given that most places cost much more for breakfast. I bought a blueberry scone for my kids and whoa...it was so good. I had my husband go back and buy 2 more to take home! Not your typical scone (hard on the outside and soft inside) rather it was all pretty soft and moist which I prefer and the taste was so amazing. All the people were very friendly and brought my purchase and others out on the pier where we were waiting. We will definitely be returning here when we visit bar Harbor and I recommend you visit as well. read more
