I do not normally give five stars to restaurants unless they are in some way outstanding…read more Well, I've been eating Pho at Mai's for ten years now and it has been consistently good the entire time I've been going there. Highly recommended l!

We visited for our first time and there isn't much room for parking by the front of the restaurant…read more Can only assume they have parking behind somewhere. Will have to figure it out next time because we will be back. There is a deli style counter you walk up to place your order, then find a seat and they bring it to your table. We started with the spring rolls with two sauces, peanut and sweet. They were delicious. We also each had a stuffed chicken wink because they looked so good and wanted to try something not usually on a menu. Not sure how they stuffed them but they were delicious. I had an excellent pho. I am gluten intolerant and probably should not of had the chicken wing but it just had about a 1% gluten in I was told. The gentleman who took our order and brought us our food was knowledgeable and attentive. When I ordered my Thai tea I asked it to be put in a to go cup. Because with our apps I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. As it was I needed two to go containers for my Pho and really enjoyed it for dinner. My combination Pho had lovey perfectly cooked shrimp and sliced beef that had to have been roasted and sliced in-house. At least it tasted like it. I also had several meatball halves too. I would go back for this Pho over and over again. My husband had a curry and he said it was also a 4 star. We try Asian restaurants, mostly Thai, whenever we travel and I hope to be able to come back here when in the area.

My experience this time around was a little bit more of a let down hence why I had to take one star off. When I went few months ago, I had burnt coffee which I chalked it up as a one time error. But it happened again with this visit, so that told me they don't really pay much attention to their coffee yet they have a whole menu dedicated to coffee. I also made a reservation on a Sunday knowing it fills up quick and that it might be hard to get a table, however, it was an hour and half before they close which means they tend to slow down around that time. Also, when making a reservation, it'll ask you if you want bar, dining area or patio. I chose dining area. Yet they called me an half hour before to see if I wanted to sit at the bar, which I told them twice in person I do not want to, and as a result the hostess gave me the annoyed/judgmental look down when I wasn't looking. As someone who has owned a family restaurant business for 30 years, that's a big no-no in terms of customer service. It's just rude and unnecessary. Also, they kind of really try to get customers out by 2, which is when they close. By standard at most restaurants, they need an extra hour after closing for customers to take their time with their meals rather than rushing through it, especially if you will sit them 20 minutes before closing time. I felt rushed, and I don't like that feeling at a place I'm trying to enjoy my meal. Would I come back here? Absolutely yes because their food is really the best for brunch in the area and it's cleaner. It just shouldn't be an excuse with certain things like what I mentioned above. P.S. if chicken and waffles happens to be one of the specials, get it. It's by far the best dish I've ever tried there and also my top 3 chicken & waffles that I've tried anywhere. SO GOOD!
