The kids thought that the use of a tablet to take orders was cool and that made the food come out even faster. Having a breakfast spot in Augusta like this easily rivals Metro Diner in quality. I always love Sunshine Grill for a Sunday breakfast. It was one of the first breakfast spots we discovered after moving to Augusta, and the food and service is still great. As packed as this place can get on Sunday's even before church let's out, your food still comes out fast, hot, and tasty. They advertise their French toast as thick slices of bread but they just looked like the same thin bread we got as our toast. It was also about $1 per one triangle of French toast. No real flavor to the French toast. Different price on the bill of cash vs a card. It should be the same. If you run a business it should be the cost of doing business. Such a great breakfast/brunch place. I really enjoy the food when I come here. The first time I went was an off day for them but I am not holding that against them. The servers are always on top of it and patient when they have so many people. There are always a lot of people there for breakfast and for brunch especially on the weekends. You cant go wrong with anything you try on the menu. Personally my favorite are the biscuits and gravy. They are absolutely perfect. I ordered the Ribeye Steak and eggs and I would not order the ribeye again. It was way over cooked and had a lot gristle. The eggs were great. This place is what you think of when you think of a good quality breakfast or lunch spot. It was not too crowded with a blend of people who gather here for some good food and friendly service. They offer scan menus as well as paper menus. Seating is spread so as to conform to the COVID requirements and they even have bottles of hand sanitizer readily available through out the restaurant. The food is prepared from behind a window where you can see the cooks at work without feeling like your inside a greasy kitchen. The food is served hot, well presented and fresh. The one thing that stood out as a fresh and delightful touch was the attention paid to customer service. The waitress immediately asked what I would like to drink as she gave me my utensils. She took my order as soon as I was ready (no pressure). She served my food, refilled my coffee and asked if all was ok every time she passed by. She didn't assume I was done till I asked for the bill and even then inquired as to whether I enjoyed the meal. For all this I gave her a pretty good tip and let her know what a great job she did. The food was great, the price and atmosphere was good but the service made the experience enjoyable. If you do come by make sure you ask for "Kimberly". This kid has a great attitude. read more

1st Timers! So we actually trekked over to Metro Diner but there was a 45-50 minute wait time! So... of course we decided to skip over to our next choice of "diner" style breakfast; Sunrise Grill. I liked the friendly service immediately upon entrance and the open sunny feeling. The place was pretty full but our wait was 2 minutes! That was bonus for 3 hangry people. Lots of choices for breakfast! I didn't look at the lunch menu but I saw customers plates with lunch items. We all had breakfast (see pics) and we were not disappointed at all! Delicious and hot (cooked to order) and minimum wait time to get our food. This place seems to be one that has frequent locals as the wait staff knew some of the customers by name which I thought was very nice. I must say the egg omelettes were fluffy and cooked to perfection! That's a win-win for me!! The only tip I'd give to this establishment (in regards to my order of the veggie omelette) is to PLEASE put broccoli "florets" in the vegetarian omelette!! Mine had all broccoli "stems." It's a small spot in a plaza, but we had a group of 14 people and they worked us in at 3 tables next to each other eventually. We had a separate waitress at our table & she was awesome. She said she was going to get our food out first even though we were the last of the group to be seated & she did! I ordered the half waffle, eggs, bacon, and an extra side of grits with cheese. I never realize how much I miss the Sunrise Grill until I moved from Augusta. I've been here a handful of times before I moved and always get their sweet potato pancakes. Sunrise Grill is a cute little diner. They use a lot of chickens as part of their decor. Soooop cute. Hubster and I arrived around 10 and there was still a little bit of a wait. Lucky us, some seats at the counter opened up and we were able to sit down faster. The menu isn't extensive which is great since I would order everything because I was hungry. Hubster and I ordered 2 coffees, southern omelette with egg whites, and 2 pancakes with eggs and sausage. The sweet potato pancakes are everything you wish for and got. I was able to taste the sweet potatoes and the cinnamon. There's a special cinnamon sugar syrup that comes with the pancakes. The sausage was a little spicy, which was nice and not expected. Hubster loved his omelette and said it was super filling. 10/10 would continue to sweet potato pancake again and 12/10 would come back again. I haven't found an Atlanta equivalent yet, so I'll keep coming back when visiting. read more

I'd had an eye on Sunrise Grill but never had the chance to pay them a visit, so when I found myself in the area one morning, I knew I had to turn on in. I ordered their #13, or 2 pancakes (or French toast) with two eggs any way you want them, bacon, sausage or Canadian bacon, all for $7.39. I also ordered a cup of coffee ($2.19). Service was super fast, as in ordering and getting out the door in less than 8 minutes fast. On top of being fast, they are yelp friendly and you get a 10% off of your entire order deal if you simply check in. So, cheap AND fast...but are they any good? My order had eggs scrambled, the sausage I selected were link and I received the pancakes. Eggs were nothing special...not bad but not amazing. Link sausage was okay too, having some flavor with each bite. The pancakes were just off. They smelled of vanilla, and were HUGE, but they were so dense and not fluffy at all. You almost had to put some syrup on them just to swallow them. I don't like very dense pancakes, but if you're coming to get full, these will serve you well. Coffee was just coffee...again nothing special. The interior of sunrise grill is a lot larger than I thought it would be, having plenty of seating to go around. Parking is also not an issue with this location being in a strip mall off of Washington road, complete with multiple exits. The breakfast list at Sunrise is expansive, with so many things to choose from, and I think there's something here for everyone. My star rating can go up or down based off of what I try....sadly the pancakes weren't my favorite, but if and when I go back, Sunrise grill definitely has the ability to gain a star or two back when I select something else. This place knows how to make some killer pancakes! I came in for dine in during the covid situation and everything was very clean and safe. The staff wore masks and provided disposable condiments. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly despite the massive amount of water refills I asked for lol. I got 3 buttermilk pancakes and 3 of their sweet potato pancakes and they were great. The sweet potato pancakes are unlike any pancakes I've ever had, and they carried a sweet and melt in your mouth bite. First time here, got the Steak N Eggs w/ home fries and wheat toast. Coffee and water was also asked for. The service was pretty quick compared to the amount of people there at the time. Looked like the waitresses have done the job for a really long time. I sat at the bar stools that had an open view into the kitchen. I noticed that a lot of restaurants and other business in Augusta re-use old buildings and this was no exception. Clearly this spot used to be a clothing store or technical business. The tables are just lined out like it's a cafeteria from a high school with a little slice of different chairs here and there. Of course having booths put in would of made this place even smaller. The owners just built the kitchen right onto the side of the location. Nothing wrong with this concept, I prefer to see my meal be made right in front of me. The dish was well worth its cost, I was bummed out that they did not have a country fried steak dish. Usually my dish to go for to determine a place's worth. The waitresses were super duper pleasant, we chit chatted the entire time.. I came around 0700am so there wasn't a wait at all and got my food within ten minutes after I sat down. I opted for the French toast, because the menu said it'd be on Texas toast and I love trying new breads. It was thin and looked like regular white bread and tasted just OK. Nothing extraordinary. My omelet were cooked well but that's about it. I want to say the best thing about my breakfast this morning was my husband to the left of me and the friendly man to the right of me who kept talking to us and making the time go by. I can't fully remember what my husband ordered but I know he had potatoes with whatever it was and they were so dry and bland. The flavor was obsolete. Another 5 star review! We were going to go to Metro Diner for breakfast on Valentine's Day but they had a 1 1/2 hour wait. We arrived and Sunrise for a 30 minute wait and were seated in 20 minutes.
