Travelers take note!!!! This is a hidden gem!!! The is a restaurant located inside the Eagle Hotel in Palmer. There is a street side entrance and an entrance located in the hotel lobby. It has a very casual diner feel with local artwork for sale decorating the walls. I can confirm 100% that the breakfast here is spot on based upon my personal experience. The staff are so incredibly courteous and attentive. We never had an empty water glass or coffee cup. They checked in with our table multiple times just to make sure that we had everything that we needed and that we were pleased with our meal. We ordered the waffles. I had the waffles with eggs and bacon. My partner had waffles with blueberries, eggs and sausage. We were not disappointed. I could not get over how incredibly perfect my bacon was cooked and crispy. I absolutely can't stand thin, sliced greasy and soggy bacon. Not here. This was some thick cut crispy bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and that waffle was so light it could have floated off of my plate. I would never have known about this hidden little spot without a recommendation. Also, when you enter through the lobby, you'll noticed there is a free book offering through an organization called Bright Lights. This is an amazing organization that salvages and organizes books to help increase literacy. I absolutely love books, and this was an unexpected discovery in the Eagle Hotel lobby. Tip: there are no bathrooms located in the restaurant. The bathrooms are located in the hotel lobby and you will need to ask your server for the code to get into them. It is an easy code that you just punch in.

Are you from the South and you are looking for something that resembles it? Come to this place. This restaurant reminded me of home in a second. The bacon is crispy, the eggs were made to order, the potatoes were on point. I was hungry and my friends were waiting for me to go hiking. I came in and I was sat down quickly. The waitress took my order and I had my breakfast within minutes. I loved their bacon because it was crispy. The staff was very attentive and got me out as soon as possible. If you are looking for some southern cooking, this place will do.

This is nice restaurant attached to the Eagle Hotel in downtown Palmer. It is centrally located on the main Street in Palmer. Both and table setting for many over 100. Good for tour groups and large parties. Basic American food with a variety of choices. I had the Philly Combo with homemade Spit Pea Soup, French Fries and unlimited unsweetened ice tea for $20.00. Excellent price in Alaska. The soup was delicious homemade with chunks of carrot, potato, onion and peas. Everything was cooked to perfection and not mushy or too blended in to the broth. The sandwich was served in a fresh soft long roll, filled with thinly sliced roast beef and fried onions, green pepper, mushrooms and topped with a slice of mozzarella cheese and served warm with a cup warm beefy sauce. The French fries were hot and crispy, well fried and not oily. I needed to take home half of the sandwich and fries so I asked the waitress if I could have a small cup of ajus to take home. She brought me a full cup of the favorable ajus. I offered to pay extra and she said it was free so I increased her tip. I would recommend this cafe for excellent home like food at reasonable prices and tasty.

Great service. Looks family owned and operated. We did get some stares from staff and other customers but I understand Polynesians get quite a bit of attention (good and mostly bad) in Anchorage but everyone was nice. Food was decent. I would definitely come back here next time we're visiting and there will be a next time!

Everything about this place is great! It has a wonderful little small time diner feel to it. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and the food came out quickly! I ordered the battered halibut sandwich and was immediately impressed with the flavors! The batter was perfectly crisp and flavored. The fish was fresh and flaky, the texture was perfect. I would probably ask for extra mayo next time for the sandwich to add some moisture but it is definitely something I would order again. My friend ordered a side of pancakes with their breakfast omelette and after having a bite I almost contemplated ordering some for myself. They are hands down the fluffiest pancakes I have ever tasted with a buttery flavor in the batter that was so pleasant. There are lots of foods here I would love to come back and try, including ordering my own meal again.

We came here because of the great reviews we saw. Our experience was a little different so I thought I'd take the time to review it. The atmosphere was airy and open, but reeked of the 90's. Old vinyl booths and tables for four are the standard fare. The waitress was very nice and did a good job. The problem was the food. The salad was a very sparse plate of lettuce with a few croutons. The dressing (homemade ranch) was runny and bland. I ordered the Rueben sandwich, and was shortly told they were out of Swiss cheese. I substituted American cheese, and the sandwich came on a bare plate. The sauerkraut was put on the sandwich still wet, so the bottom bread was soaking wet and falling apart. Not horrible, but certainly not 4 stars like the last review said. With just a little effort, the place could be vastly improved upon, but for now...I won't be back anytime soon.

The very definition of a 'greasy spoon' diner. I got the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were stale and the sausage was hard, but the gravy was good. Then the veggie omelet, which was swimming in some kind of grease that I've been puking up all day. It's been pretty horrible. Their pancakes were the one redeeming order, light and fluffy. Service got the basic job done but the server would ask if we needed something then be back 10 min later without it - and this happened three or four times. I'll never be back. read more

Delicious! We got the loaded biscuit and pigs in the blanket and they were really good. The coffee wasn't the greatest, but our server was great! We also got the cinnamon roll for free because it was my birthday! My sister loved it, but I thought it was a little dry. They get them from a local bakery though, which is awesome to support other local businesses. read more

Pleasantly surprised with my first experience at sunrise grill! We came here on a Tuesday morning, when another local popular breakfast joint was closed. From the exterior, I had low expectations but was quickly blown away with how friendly the staff was and how seriously amazing the food was! I had a simple cheese omelet, hash browns, and pancakes; the omelette was delicious and fluffy, the hash browns were cooked perfectly, in the pancakes were very good too! The interior is a little dated, but I would definitely come back! read more

Wow! Came out for a kids hockey game and stopped for lunch/breakfast. Corned beef hash, a BLT and both kids kids breakfasts were amazing! Fair pricing, excellent and fast service, super nice people and we are all full! Definitely plan to make this a regular stop on our many hockey fueled trips to Palmer, AK. 9.5/10! read more

The service was absolutely terrible, took more than 30 mins to get ordered and drinks and another 30 before we got food and had to ask for refills. And then never saw the server again after we got lukewarm skillet and cold waffles. Then the person who cashed us out thought it was no big deal when we mentioned it... worst service I have seen in a very long time. read more

The worst service I have ever had. We waited for over an hour and when we finally got up to talk to the manager (who never acknowledged or apologized) brought cold food to our table. Then waited for 20 minutes for our bill and finally just had to go to the front of the restaurant and pay, without any apology or acknowledgment of the service we had. It was not busy and couldn't even get service to request are food to be warmed. Will never go here again read more

We stopped for lunch and the service was fast and friendly. The placed was busy but not packed, we did come in before church was out locally. The menu has a good variety. I noticed the low number of reviews (all reviews were good) and asked the staff how long they had owned the place. They took over in November 2018. The food was reasonably priced and good portion sizes all around. I had the French dip and my husband had the Franny. We both opted for the potatoes salad as a side and it was good, you can tell it's homemade. We will be back for sure. read more

I wanted to take a couple of days to think about my review before writing it down, I was so disappointed in the service we got. I didn't want to write being in the moment of the emotion I felt. I am rating this restaurant "0" because when we had received our food, my husbands plate was dirty. We told the waiter about it and the waiter said " oh, must have rubbed another plate." Another person came by to ask us how the food was, we showed her the dirty plate and we got the same response. All we wanted was for them to take the plate and give him a clean one. But they wouldn't do it. They kept saying to us " sorry for the dirty plate" I just can't believe that they felt it was ok to have the customer eat off of a dirty plate. How hard is it to just exchange the plate? Even if it did rub off of another plate how hard is it to inspect and make sure the plate is clean? What other short cuts is this restaurant doing that I may not be aware of? Is the customer not important? Are our concerns meant not to be heard?All these thoughts run through my mind when I think about this restaurant and this is why I will not voluntarily be going to this restaurant again. read more

Definitely they have done a lot of work to clean this place up, it looks nicer in there. Not serving any alcohol now. Ordered the chicken patty burger which was processed, which I should have realized but both mine and my husbands were cold in the middle. Disappointed. For $15 a burger it should be edible. The onion rings were good though. Servers were friendly, but hovering a little too much. Probably because we were the only people in there. We probably wont go back unfortunately. read more

worst meal ever! It took 15 minutes to get coffee and refills were scarce. We waited an hour for our food which was cold in the middle when we got it. We asked for boxes and voiced our displeasure. The waitress said that the back room was full so the front of the house tables always got pushed to the back. Nice to know huh? They threw in a cinnamon roll I guess to make us feel happier. Will never go there again! Makes me very angry. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

Mantanuska Brewery is the latest brewery I got to try for the first time and it was an enjoyable first time experience. Steve and I got one beer from this brewery on two separate occasions and I liked it both times. The Deep Powder Porter was the name of the beer we had. What I liked about this beer was that it was very smooth which made it an easy one to drink. There is a malty sweetness going on here with roasty, caramel and cocoa flavors. Untappd had the beet as a feature with this beer as "brilliant " and I can see that going on with this porter but I might call it "alive" as this porter wasn't a dull one at all to drink but instead it was a fun one.

It needed some garlic or a bit more flavor. The beer--amazing selection! We enjoyed the GlacierBrewery Raspberry Wheat and the Turnagain Mexican Lager. The hand-cut fries were disappointing. My favorite food is the Thai salad wrap, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders, the burgers are usually good as is the pizza.

I enjoyed the California club sandwich which had a good flavor with great tasting ingredients. The ham and cheese croissant was also pretty good. My kid enjoyed it and ate it all. Service was quick and decent but lacked attention. I was recommended the coffee of the day which I was told it was a must try. So I tried it and I'm not sure that it qualifies as a coffee or a drink. It tasted pretty horrid and I threw it away so that's why I'm removing a star. I would say this is more of a brunch place than a breakfast place. The menu was overwhelming to be honest and my suggestion would be to focus the menu a bit because visually it was all over the place. They seemed to have quiches and other things that change daily which some people might appreciate but I think it confuses the people working there and also the people who like whatever they had yesterday but now they can't have. But again that's just my humble opinion.

It's a strange little cafe, part of a hotel (have never stayed at the Hotel though) Palmer is kind…read moreof quirky (to me, as an English person) and I love being able to see the water tower from the windows, which screams old town America, like I used to see in movies. Lots of booths and tables, quite a big dining room. It's not fancy. But it's always busy. It's very affordable. We often used to come for just a piece of pie, and they had a delicious blueberry pie, which unfortunately wasn't offered the other night when I was there. I don't care too much for banana cream this or chocolate chess that - they're just too sweet for me, I'm not that much of a dessert person. I was sort of hoping they might have pumpkin pie, as it's almost that time but they didn't have any. I try to have it at least once or twice in fall. I went for the least offensive option which in this case was apple pie. I went for a la mode, and as the server had trouble understanding my accent (happens a lot) I gave her my best American accent of a la mode, which made her laugh. I googled why having ice cream on your pie is called a la mode, because apparently, USA is the only country that uses this term anymore. A la mode, literally translates to in the fashion. A strange term to describe ice cream on your pie. Anyway, I don't know why I got it, as I don't really like solid ice cream, I like it when it gets melty, or to be honest, I would rather have had heavy cream, but rarely does a restaurant or cafe offer that as an option, like you'd get in England. The pie came, it was huge, and there was a half gallon of ice cream on it. I gave it to husband, and he put it on top of his cheesecake, after scraping off the whipped cream, and giving that to me. This was whipped cream from a can I believe, as it's very aerated. The pie was pretty good and nicely spiced with cinnamon, which husband objected to. He said it had a little too much in, but I liked it. One of the strangest things about the menu - which is pretty extensive by the way, are the prices. There are no round numbers, and the cents are never the same either. I assume this is because of the sales tax? Like one thing might be $4.33, then something else will be $7.59 so that when they ring it up and add the sales tax, it comes out at a nice round number? Is that right? Anyway, no complaints, you can always get a seat, service is prompt and friendly, and there's great views from the window seats.
