3 piece deep fried halibut meal. Beer battered breading
    Michelle A.

We came here before going to Hatchers Pass. I ordered the 3 piece fried halibut. It was good but not overwhelmingly great. Saving that for Humpys. They were busy and short staffed. The menu is way too huge! I suspect 75% of it is frozen. My aunts green beans looked canned.

It's a 24/7 cafe that has a huge menu - it's going to be hard to do everything on that menu well! But it's there, it's open, and you're bound to find something on the menu you like. The service was pretty good! You can tell the servers are doing their best. The pancakes were good, the biscuits and gravy not so much. We also got a milk shake that was very good.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and ones that were listed were full with waiting list. The place is in a center that has a gym and other health related offices then down the hall I could smell good coffee so I followed my nose. You wait in line and order at counter; great list of panini, sandwiches, salads/soup, and home-made cookies and pastries. We ordered a Calif and Reuben paninis to split; honestly I don't know which I liked better-both were so tasty and well seasoned. Everyone enjoyed this lunch! So cool they had a book exchange area right outside the cafe.

Apple pie w/ fireweed honey ice cream

Came in around 8pm on Saturday for a quick dessert on our way in town to visit with friends. We were quickly seated and afforded the opportunity to taste-test the fireweed honey ice cream before we committed which I appreciated. Placed our order shortly thereafter and was surprised that it took about 10 minutes to warm the pie and scoop the ice cream. Had it been busy I wouldn't have thought much of it, but our waitress came out three times to assure us it was coming. The wait paid off as both the pie and ice cream were quite tasty and perfect for sharing. Would probably come back and try something else if in the area.

Stop #5 on the breakfast tour. (See City Diner, Flo's, Bear Mountain, and Bobby's) for the others. I was especially excited because I heard people rave about this place. I heard people say, "stay at the Val Ho and make sure to get the breakfast." Luckily it worked out on a weekend to be in Palmer so we decide to give it a try. Here's the experience and breakdown for the three stars. 1. Dined in the Caboose - this is the back part of the restaurant where there is a bar and TVs within sports on them. Same food. Signs at the entrance said you can go to either location for service. 2. Service - sporty. After waiting about ten minutes in a small space that was less than half full, I wandered up to the bar to ask how we received menus and ordered food. The bartender said, halfheartedly, "I didn't see you over there." 3. Food took quite a long time. I don't time the length between ordering and eating but it felt like at least 30 minutes. I was able to get through two cups of coffee. Our server also apologized for the length of time which confirmed to me that it was longer than normal. 4. Hash browns tasted weird. Can't put my finger on it. They were bland. And they tasted like they had been cooked on a freshly cleaned grill. 5. Otherwise, the food was your typical breakfast quality. The bacon wasn't huge but it was cooked crispy. Good portions for the price. 6. Coffee seemed to have a vanilla taste to it. I thought it was good just black. Creamers are available for the coffee with sugar types. So this wasn't a "blow my mind" type of breakfast. If not for the slow service and the initial confusion, certainly worth four stars.

This place deserves a 5- star rating. This place is in a good location open 24/7 which is a great plus in Palmer, serves decent food, combined with a wide variety of menu options catering to large dietary restrictions and amazing customer service.! You will get pizzas, sandwiches, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, french toast, etc. You must try the fireweed ice cream..! I have never seen a place offering to try food before ordering it. My husband wasn't sure how the reindeer meat will be since he had never tried it. She offered to try it first before ordering and the sausage was out in 2mins.. I haven't seen such customer service ever. I would highly recommend this place.!

This review is written from the perspective of someone who has worked in a successful cat cafe,…read moresimilar if not the exact same type of experience to cafe guests, lounge visitors, and potential adopters. The cafe side was wonderful, extremely yummy coffee with great service. The cat lounge, now of course getting to spend time with some lovely kitties while relaxing music plays is a 5-star experience, however, there are a few areas where they could do better to enhance the experience for guests as well as the kitties. 1) There were A LOT of people (12) for our time slot in comparison to kitties in the room and seating capacity. That's not only overwhelming for the kitties but also the guests. 2) Kiddos of all ages are allowed, which is great for the kids, but at the same time, the safety and wellbeing of the cats should have been kept in mind making this decision. Having a minimum age seems to be more reasonable than allowing all ages and expecting parents to adequately monitor their children at all times. 3) There was a single "cat concierge" in the room with the group of 12 for our timeslot, this group was more or less 50% kiddos. The "cat concierge" seemed to be expected to monitor the kitties, monitor guests and remind us of rules (more so kiddos), take phone calls, and mess with their phone all at the same time. One thing that ended up bothering me was when I asked if the cats were adoptable and how many adoptions they had helped facilitate since opening and the gal was hesitant to answer the question, as to spare the feelings of the kids in the room, and acted like the questions were a burden? 4) The room was COLD, kitties are happiest and safest in temps of 68°F to 77°F and even warmer for kittens, which there were many of. 5) It seems the partner adoption services and the cafe could do a better job at prequalifying their kitties to be placed at the cafe. There was one cat who was not happy to be around other cats. I'm sure most cat people understand that an upset kitty is not just a liability for harm to other kitties but also to humans who may unknowingly end up in between the beef. Overall, decent experience, but don't think we will be back unless there are changes to their operations or until we are specifically looking to adopt another kitty.

Would I come back? Yes. Would I bring friends? Also yes, but only the ones who understand they are not the main characters--the cats are. The pie crust was airy and light, just a hint of sweet.
