Totally upset this morning - I ordered 1 sesame bagel w/ smoked salmon and cream cheese and 1 plain bagel to go and they charged me $12.50????? When I questioned the bill, they said the bagel with salmon & CC was $8.50. I am a NYer at heart so I rate bagels pretty harshly. No place measures up lol! They do a decent job! My wife and I have come here a few times for breakfast, and its pretty good. Not super amazing, but very very good and solid food. We usually stick to the THEC, Taylor Ham Egg and Cheese. Its always cooked well, and you can get it on any bagel. I usually get mine a little bit more well done, and they hit the mark nicely. The bagels are pretty good, nice and soft, with some chew and a nice outside. They also have pretty good spreads! I got some strawberry CC on a croissant once and it was pretty good! The place looks like they are remodeling in sections, or when one spot becomes to outdated, and they renovate that. It is fine at the end of the day, but doesn't "flow" if you know what I mean. The biggest + is they have a parking lot! Staff is friendly. When they get a little backed up, they slow down to a crawl... All in all a nice bagel store, great variety in bagels and CC. A nice selection of sandwiches as well! I appreciate that this place has parking because it is located on a busy corner. I came here starving after a 6 am flight and was so happy that they were not super busy and my order was prepared quickly. I got an everything bagel with bacon, egg and cheese. It was tasty, doughy and had plenty of filling. Hubby got a breakfast platter with pancakes, eggs and bacon, also decent for $9. I got a sausage egg and cheese on a bagel. It was just really skimpy (such a tiny bit of egg and sausage) which made the sandwich taste like all bagel! A little too doughy for my liking. This is my go to spot on Saturday and Sunday morning when I don't feel like cooking. The coffee is awesome and wakes anyone up in the morning...price is right and not high like dunkin donuts or Starbucks. Now I usually have a bagel with bacon and egg and it's always ummmm ummm good! I would recommend this place!! FYI they make more than sandwiches and I am sure they taste good as well. The place is clean, busy and the food is good so you know they have a good reputation they do have a private parking lot and I was lucky enough to get a spot but they are so busy that the parking lot gets full very quickly. I decided to go with the bacon egg and cheese on a poppy seed bagel and the only thing they missed was the mayo. I did ask for a small coffee and instead got a large coffee but hey I can use the extra caffeine so no biggie and it won't stop me from going back. They have plenty of seats and tables so eating in shouldn't be a challenge and they do have a TV up on the wall for your entertainment. read more

BUT they did have an assortment of other bagels which I got a sesame bagel for myself and a garlic bagel for my boyfriend. Both were very fresh and thick. The bacon was great quality and well done. During the week When the owners are there and the older guys are there it is run like an organized ship and a well oiled machine...great service great food. However I came on a Saturday morning and a younger kid was behind the counter fumbling around. I asked for my bagel and a coffee with cream and sugar! Because I had a face mask on I couldn't try the coffee until after I got home. The guy put like little to no cream in it! He just slapped it together fast not caring. I was the only customer in the store and he was like super busy and just not a good Customer experience. By far the best Bagels in New Jersey. Nothing beats one of their bagels fresh from the oven still steaming. I have been buying bagels from Sunrise since they opened their first store in Nutley 15 years ago. The bagels are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There is no other place in NJ that makes the same bagel. They offer every flavor bagel to choose from with some unique flavors I have only seen at Sunrise. The cinnamon crunch bagel and the french toast bagel and wonderful. I love the pumpernickel with cream cheese. Sunrise is the only place I know where you can get a whole wheat everything bagel. What makes these bagels even better is when you order a taylor ham, egg and cheese on one of them. There coffee is good and all different flavors are available. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. They are open everyday of the year and holiday breakfast/brunch wouldn't be the same with out Sunrise Bagels.
