We called sunscreens by mark based on some the comments he had received. We did not negotiate the price and although the job took longer than expected we were relatively satisfied until we called with an issue we noticed on 2 windows and asked him to come take a look. The job was almost $3000. We were told that gas was $4 a gallon, he knew there was no problem, he offered me a bet of $1000 that if he came he would find nothing wrong and he would love to see egg on my face. Very verbally aggressive. Threatened to sue me if I commented on yelp. Said he would come Saturday am but never did. I had sun screens that were not very old, but fit my windows terribly leaving huge gaps, and bowed out because of poor fit and installation. Mark Castle is by far the best when you decide to purchase sunscreens. Mark has made screens for me on three separate occasions. The first set back in 2002 that lasted a full 14 years, they were still in good shape however I was changing house color in 2016 and felt a new set of a different color would be best. This year I moved and just had Mark make me another set for the new house, again his fit/finish is spot on, his installation is top notch. I stopped by their shop with the dimensions for a screen I wanted to put on my patio door. I also had a couple of photos on my phone so they would know what I was trying to do. Mark quoted a price and explained how to best install the screen on my door. I said that sounded fine and he asked if I could wait a few minutes they'd make the screen for me. 30 minutes later I was on my way. Installed the screen the next morning as Mark suggested and all fit perfect. No more afternoon sun through the patio door, what a difference. We had our roll-up sunshades manufactured and installed by Mark. We just love them. The sales person, Alan, was outstanding at showing us all the options and Mark did a follow-up measurement just to make sure they fit perfectly before installation. We liked them so much we had valances made to hide the hardware which wasn't much of an issue but finished them up beautifully. Mark uses marine grade stainless steel in all the hardware and marine grade pull ropes. They operate very smoothly with very little effort. It completely transformed our ourdoor patio into almost a seperate enclosed room that you cannot see thru from the outside. We wanted something that would give us privacy and shade. The fabric used was the 95% sun ray block and is not only durable but matched our house color perfectly. We ended up using Mark because he has his own shop and does quality work. Everything is built by hand to exacting specs by him. Not to mention the many good reviews we read. Plus I know if there ever is a problem he will come out and fix it. He delivered right on time despite the fact I asked him for some extra time so I could paint and fix a minor roof problem before the installation.. Our only regret is that we didn't find Sunscreens by Mark sooner since we're not happy with the company who installed our sunscreens. My husband and I have been renovating our home for about 3 years now, and out of all the contractors we've worked with so far, Mark was by far the best! If you want amazing customer service, honesty, and friendly communication--Mark is your guy. His sales-rep Kevin was also great! Before the sale, they walked me through the process and brought me an entire portfolio of their work with samples so I knew exactly what my windows would look like after the installation. If you're like me and don't know a thing about sunscreens, you need to call Mark and Kevin because after they left I felt like a pro! I live in Chicago and my family and i have a home in Phoenix, AZ. We had our solar screens damaged by a bad storm and needed them all replaced on our 4 bedroom, 3 bath house. The problem i was facing was that i could not stay in Arizona while the work was to be done to our house and had to make a decision on who to trust to do the job because it absolutely needed to be done. I am the type of guy that does extensive research on product, service and price. I had it narrowed down to three reputable companies. My review is LONG overdue! I first saw Mark's work in 2003 when he installed sunscreens on a friend's home. I vowed right then that he would be the only person to install sunscreens on my home, should I ever own one! Fast forward to 2009, 6 years later, when I was finally able to buy a home. I checked with SRP to see the utility usage over the past year and they could only give me the high and the low. The high was $300 and my jaw dropped! I called Mark and had him give me an estimate, which was incredibly reasonable... so I had him make my sunscreens. He did an amazing job... every screen fit perfectly and they look awesome! In the 5 years since, my highest utility bill was barely over HALF of the prior high bill. I only needed 4 sunscreens to be redone so I brought them to the place of business. This saved me some money and was job completed in a reasonable amount of time, considering it is now the busy season. After I picked them up, one of the screens, which had a new frame, did not fit. I called Mark and he said to bring it down and he would reduce it which he did right away. Let me explain that the reason the new frame did not fit is because the old frame was bent to fit into the glass block window depression. I should have taken this into consideration when I asked for a new frame. Mark not only reduced it to the dimmensions that it should have been, but he also gave me some hardware for free so that I could install it propoerly. I would recommend Sunscreens by Mark! read more

Contacted this company via email due to the great reviews they had on Yelp. It took them (Richard) a few days to get back to us, but that was no big deal. Set up a time for Richard to come out and give us a quote for sunscreens on our entire house and a swinging screen door. He promised he would email the quote that night. Two days later, we received nothing. We had to call him and remind him, and he mumbled off some excuse of not having our email address (mind you this is how we contacted him originally). When we did get his quote, he was $1000-1500 dollars above the 3 other companies that we received quotes from!!!! We also found these other companies on Yelp with great reviews. Its hard to believe that the quality of his product is so far superior to other companies to charge that much. Plus, having to reach out to Richard to actually receive the quote makes me feel like my business was not a top priority with this company. As Arizona natives, we cannot believe what took us so long to make this valuable improvement to our home. Within minutes after installation, we could really feel the temperature drop inside our home, especially in the west-facing rooms.
