Really good venue, a lot of space and near water. Our waitress was outstanding, really attentive and helpful with making food choices, also brought us water regularly which was nice. Poutine was amazing, great flavor and horseradish sauce was perfect combo to dip. Salad was a nice light dish that had great flavor as well. Shrimp tacos were solid. Linguine and Clams were the best I've ever had. A lot of clam chunks and linguine was buttery and perfect amount of garlic and other flavors integrated into the dish, large portion too. A friend and I stopped here for dinner based on a recommendation. We asked to sit outside. The hostess indicated that it was very loud outside (there was a band that night), so she wanted to seat us in the covered patio. I'm not really sure why she denied our request to sit outside because the patio was extremely loud (couldn't hear ourselves think let alone talk to each other) and we figured it couldn't possibly be louder on the outer decks where we requested to sit. We asked the server if we could move to the uncovered deck area farther from the band and she had no problem with it - the table we ended up with was MUCH quieter than where the hostess sat us. I'm not sure why it was such an issue to seat us where we requested (other parties were seated there and the same server had the entire outside area, both covered patio and uncovered deck). We ordered the ahi tuna app, which we loved. We both thought our sandwiches were just ok, haddock for my friend and seafood wrap for me, but they were nothing to rave about. Both of our drinks were pretty horrible (the blueberry lemonade). I HATE sending things back, but had to ask my server to add something to my drink because they added SO much blue curaçao to our drinks they were pretty unbearable. There server was extremely nice...if it wasn't for her and the ahi app, I doubt the place would get two stars from me. read more

The service was good. The food did not make the cut. I ordered shrimp tacos because my waitress said that's what she ate when she ate there. I received my tacos and the tortilla shells were not cooked. I pointed this out to my waitress and she told me that they do not cook the tortilla shells. That's the way they are served, they pull them from a bag, place the shrimp and other ingredients on the taco. The manager Mike said that if I wanted the tortillas cooked I could ask. In all my travels around the United States, Canada and Mexico I have never had to ask to cook m tortillas. Bothmy waitress and the manager stated that they warm there's up on the grill or in a frying pan at home. 2 of my friends had fish frys and the grease soaked through the paper. I really wanted to like this place. The location was beautiful, the menu looked amazing but the experience was just meh. The appetizers were really enjoyable. We ordered the spinach dip and the tuna tower. These are what added the extra star and moved this from a 2 to 3 star review. For an entree I ordered the basic pot. It was a disappointment. There were about 6 tiny clams, 6 tiny mussels and a few shrimp. There was zero flavor. The corn was mushy and overcooked, the potatoes were good, but bland. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp and lobster Mac and cheese, bland. The martini I ordered was eh. The creme brûlée of the day, candy bar, was good, but a little runnier than it should have been. This place has great potential and a beautiful location. This is not a cheap place, for the price and disappointing meal, I don't know if I will be back, or maybe just for apps. I hate to judge a place on one experience, but this is why consistency is key. If you try a new place and are disappointed, you lose that customer, if you win them over, you have a customer for life. One of the best places to celebrate a birthday in the area. With proper ID they give the birthday-er the number of wings according to your age. So in our case, 40 wings. They split the order into two flavors (Medium and Honey Garlic) which were both finger licking delicious. In addition to the wings I ordered the Artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was the best I have ever had. It was served piping hot with home made fried wheat pita "Chips." The chunks of artichoke were not sparing and I could not stop eating it. For dinner I had the Haddock sandwich. It was a monster piece of fried fish served on a hoagie roll with lettuce tomato and Old Bay tarter sauce along with fresh cut cold shoe string fries. I had ordered it without tomato but it came that way anyway. Our server was quick to fix the mistake and honored my request for hot fries. They had a Camel burger on special and they shared so I can now say I have had Camel pssst tastes like beef. While I did not taste everything on the table it all looked equally delicious. Everything I had was superb. The table ordered a menagerie of desserts, each looked delicious. I had the creme brule (flavor changes weekly). While I do wish my sugar was still hot, the taste was impeccable. I need a whole paragraph just for my drink. I love all kinds of drinks. I love to try all kinds of drinks. Normally if a menu has 8-10 items that all sound good I will try at least 2 or 3 of them. In this case my first choice knocked it out of the park and that's all I drank all night. It was called the Bootlegger. It was a mix of premium whiskey, pear liquor and something to make it purple. If I had been wearing socks they would have been knocked off. Highly recommended. They have music almost every night of the week May-September outside on their very expansive deck. It wraps around the entire back and side of the building and overlooks the boat harbor where you can gawk at some of the most beautiful high tech yachts ever imagined. My only point of contention was with all the space available they put three huge parties (ours included) smack dab in the middle of the inside restaurant in a very small area. This a.) made it hard for the wait staff to deliver food and b.) made it super loud in a very echoy room. It was hard to hear our waitress and each other. You can imagine what three birthday parties of 8 or more drinking adults sounds like. Yeah now... times ten. Overall I highly recommend visiting the Sunset Bar and Grill. We had our wedding reception at Sunsets new banquet room and could not be happier. Everything was beautiful and the staff was honestly very impressive. Michael and Chuck made sure our venue was set up perfectly and that we were happy with everything. Dom was so wonderful and helpful I couldn't say enough good things about her if I tried. All of the other staff members involved throughout the evening were also wonderful, they took care of everything from beginning to end. The staff were all so responsive and anytime we needed anything got it done for us in minutes, we never had to ask twice for anything or remind them. They were so on top of it! The food was very good! We had chicken parm and beef sliders on our menu and both were cooked perfectly. There was more food than our guests could eat and the staff made sure everything moved smoothly and quickly so we didn't have people waiting or food sitting out. The banquet room is gorgeous but a little small for larger events. I was worried we wouldn't be able to fit everything in the space available but was pleasantly surprised by how well everything flowed. We opted for indoor and outdoor table seating as they have a large awning on the patio as well as a double sided bar. We had bistro tables near the bar area on the outside patio as well and placed the DJ and dance floor inside. Our guests LOVED the outdoor seating as it overlooks the lake and provided a cool breeze. There is also a fire pit on the patio for guests to enjoy in the evening. Michael and staff were also very kind and provided my husband and I with complimentary appetizers, including steak bites, tuna nachos and clams casino, in a private sitting room located above the banquet room. This room is a quiet space with a couch and private bathroom, as well as a small fridge and sink and is designated to the bride and groom to allow some privacy and relaxation during the event if needed. There is also a balcony which allowed us to look out over the event and our photographers to get some amazing pictures. The only suggestion I would offer to sunset would be to add a sign outside of the banquet room entrance indicating the entrance was for the banquet room only and not for the restaurant. They did have a small sign indicating a wedding was taking place, however we had several people walk into the banquet room both the night before when we were setting up as well as during our reception just thinking they were entering the restaurant. It does look like a main entrance if you are just arriving for dinner so signs pointing to banquet room on left and restaurant on right would be helpful for future events. We will most certainly have dinner there in the future and will hope to work with them again for other events we may host. For those who may think the lake is a disaster as it's been reported on the news, please be assured they have not been negatively effected by any flooding. The lake may be a little high but is still a beautiful view to enjoy during dinner. Absolutely Fabulous! read more

Talk about dinner with a view! We sat outside with a nice breeze, looking out at the marina. A plus we were able to catch the sunset. We ordered classic clams casino and mussels for appetizers. The mussel sauce there was THE BEST I've ever had. You could dip anything in there and it would taste delicious. I wish they would've provided more and softer bread. It came with only 4 pieces of hard as a rock bread. I don't know what clams casino is supposed to taste like, but everyone said it was different than what they've had before. I liked it but it was expensive for 6 clams. For my entree, I got the grilled portabellas. They were very tender and sweet. The rice and vegetables blended together really well. It wasn't a very filling meal, but that just means I get to munch on tasty sweet potato fries. Everything here was really good with decent prices. I definitely recommend coming here. read more

Nice place. Good staff. Our waitress was Susan, fantastic job, very understanding of our night out without kids. She said "I get that, you just tell me when you're ready". We did, and she was right there when we were ready for each stage. Ordered the edemame potstickers, they were quite good. Not spectacular though. For the main course I ordered the Seafood Roll, which is lobster and shrimp on a toasted hoagie roll. Very good, and I've had lobster and crab rolls on the coast of Maine. Where the meat you are eating was quite literally in the actual ocean even minutes prior to preparation. Not in a tank or a fridge. Not quite as good as those of course, but this was no slouch. I'd order it again, and with as picky as I am with seafood, that is saying something. Decor was classy-ish, wood and iron type feel. Had an outdoor bar and stage for a local act to perform. We were privy to the grooves of Twelve Pack Jack. It is outside though so it is not so loud you can't think, another plus. All in all, everyone enjoyed all dishes and drinks ordered. Staying in Niagara Falls I pulled the Google map up today and decided on a drive to Roosevelt Beach and the Sunset Bar & Grill about 30 miles away. Well it certainly turned out to be worthwhile .... the Coconut Curried Mussels alone were worth the drive. The service was impeccable ( thanks to Josh ). I made a reservation for 4 this past Saturday night, upon arrival & checking in we told the hostess that we would like to enjoy a cocktail before dinner to which she showed us the way to the inside bar. Asking the bartender about get a drink then sitting on the patio until our table was ready, he told us that the table outside were reserved for a private party. The private party on the back patio had a band that was so loud it could be heard inside to which now the internal sound system had been turned up & conversation between people was very difficult. At that point we opted to go to the side patio and have the cocktail. There also was a 2 man band playing to which was not over loud. The patio & bar were packed, asking the barmaid for a beer list (You know with the crazy amount of beer today, not a bad idea having one) she rattled off some names of what was on tap while looking away from us. None of us heard the brands, I asked again & to my surprise she did the same. After looking back at me I said so you don't have a list, she said no & began mentioning the standard beers offered. We opted again now to go back to the inside bar because she didn't seem really interested in serving us. Ordering 2 drafts ( Very disappointing choices, same old stagnant Buffalo brands) 1 cola & gin and tonic, I was told $25. Hum, I thought a little pricey. Ordering 2 more drafts the cost was $14. Finishing those drafts it occurred to me & my friend the plastic cups were only 12oz & not the 16oz at every other establishment. My friend said let's get out of here we all finished our drinks & went over to the Wilson House & enjoyed a fantastic meal & evening. $7 for a 12oz draft beer served in a plastic cup, NO THANKS Sunset Bar & Grill !!!!!!! read more

My parents came heard about this place from another family member. We went here for my dads 50th birthday. They have one of the best birthday offers ive ever heard of. 1 free wing for every age you turn.... we had 50 DANG WINGS last night lol Drinks are good. Food is great. They have a huge outside patio with live music on wednesday & sunday. During the summer months, on saturdays too. The decor is adorable. Tucked away in a private area near the yacht club. What a bizarre experience my husband and I had. It was our 1 year wedding anniversary last night and we weren't trying to go anywhere fancy but someplace nice we can listen to music and enjoy a meal. We sat inside for dinner and figured we would go outside to the band and have a few drinks afterwards. The server came over and asked what we would like to drink and since it being our anniversary my husband suggested we get a bottle of champagne. On the drink menu it showed a bottle of korbel for $36. She explained that she had never heard of that and told us she would go check. She came back and told us I don't even know why that's on the menu because we've never had that and then proceeded to tell us they had a different bottle but she would have to "go down and get it". So we opted out of the champagne and just got cocktails. When the cocktails arrived, as she was setting mine down she said "oh I just noticed a fruit fly in your drink". Instead of saying she would have them make me a new one, she proceeded to hand me 2 straws. One for my drink and the second to I kid you not "scoop the fruit fly out". We end up ordering our food which mind you is extremely expensive. I got a $47 ribeye and my husband got the perch. The food came out within 10 minutes of us ordering. I had asked for my steak medium rare and once I got to the center it was cold and raw. I had to cup off around 8-9 bites of steak. When our waitress came to check on us I stated how it was raw and she offered to take it back and have them put it back on the grill. I had already cut all of the raw meat out so I told her no but was obviously upset. She said she would tell her manager and I was hoping he would at LEAST take a little bit off the bill for the portion I wasn't able to eat. He instead asked if we would like a glass of champagne which we told him we had tried to get a bottle but was told they didn't have it. He shrugged that off and preceded to bring 1 single serve bottle of the cheap stuff over and show it off as if it was a bottle of their finest champagne. Then continued to pour it in front of us into the champagne glasses. We had ended up telling him it was our anniversary in hopes that would make him feel bad for the awful experience we had but he instead asked if we wanted a picture together. Our bill was over $100 and my husband was livid at the fact that nothing was done for us besides a small bottle of champagne...for 2 people at that. That was the first time he had ever left a $0 tip in his life. We will not be going back to this place ever. Poor food and poor service. Will definitely be a anniversary dinner we will remember for how awful it was. read more

I have a special place in my heart for the Sunset Bar and Grill... my husband and I had our first date here during a springtime salmon fishing trip a few years ago. The Sunset was a definite stop on our way back to Ohio through wine country along Route 20 this past August! We stopped for dinner at the Sunset Grill on a Friday evening. The restaurant sits near the shore of Lake Ontario in Wilson, New York where salmon fishing is popular in the spring. There was a line for dinner and we luckily snagged an empty high-top in the crowded bar. There is something magical about a place that is frequented by locals... although we were on vacation, we were embraced by patrons who are on a first-name basis with the staff and owner. We felt like we belonged here. I was excited to see William Hill Cabernet on the wine list!! So excited in fact that I cannot recall what type of beer my husband ordered... oops. We ordered steamed clams as an appetizer... they were delicious (we dipped them in melted butter but the liquor was amazing on its own!) I ordered the Crab Shack Steamer Pot... boiled baby red potatoes, corn on the cob, andouille sausage, snow crab and shrimp. It was amazing!!!! The crab was juicy and fresh. I was able to pluck succulent morsels of crab meat out of the shells without it shredding. Ray ordered the special, the Shrimp and Crawfish Dutch Oven. It was served with red potatoes, corn on the cob, and steamed shrimp and crawfish. This was extra special since it's difficult to find crawfish in Ohio. He LOVED his dinner! It was also fun to disassemble our crab and crawfish... messy but SO worth it!! Our visit to Sunset did not disappoint! We were thanked by the staff as we left the restaurant and we spent some time enjoying the views as we walked to the car. We can't wait to come back next Spring... only 8 more months!!! read more

Went there for Easter Sunday Brunch on 4/15/17, which is always a crapshoot. It really is one of the hidden gems in Niagara County, which is steadily growing as a foodie destination. It's been over a year since I have been there and first thing I have noticed was the renovations; what an amazing transformation! It's been updated and opened up and looks fantastic. The look is rustic but sophisticated. The new banquet area is beautiful. The only downside is that without carpeted floors, the sound really bounces around, making it rather loud. Our family went early by my standards, 10:30 am, but for a party of 8 on a holiday brunch especially, early is always better. The staff was very accommodating even when two of us arrived 30 minutes late. We had an extremely finicky youngster with us and Mike, the manager, really worked with us. It was greatly appreciated. Our waitresses were also friendly. The buffet was hot and tasty. We had trouble getting a mimosa before noon; seems like that staff isn't up to date on the new laws. When we did get it, it was in a champagne flute and cost $6. (Recently members of our party have been enjoying mimosas at other area establishments at half the cost for a larger serving.) but these are little things they don't keep us from returning. We did notice that the summer is full of live music ! The live music, held outdoors overlooking Lake Ontario and and what looks to be a little outdoor patio bar we plan to make this our summer place to hang ! Only star loss was the signage directing you to the restaurant....with help GPS or very good directions. If I could give it less, I would! Were do I begin? First, we sat for over 20 minutes without a waitress. After placing a drink order for a table of two, we waited for at least 15 minutes for them to arrive. Feeling less than confident, we placed our dinner orders immediately. Dinner arrived within a reasonable time frame. And then came the surprise. Sand with our spinach. The salmon itself was fine, but the rest of the plate was inedible. After informing the manager of the problem we were assured that it would be addressed. It was not. After finishing our meals, we were presented with two plates of raw, not grilled spinach as ordered; this was sent back to the kitchen. So, it makes me wonder, what else was I served that was not washed prior to cooking and serving? To be honest, we were comped one of the meals. However, the poor service and attitude of the manager made our evening less pleasant. This was my second and LAST trip to the Sunset. read more

My two friends and I went there Wednesday night, they had the best band playing and our service was so wonderful. A gentleman came around two times, not sure if he was the owner or manager, but he was class act. If you want to be appreciated and treated really like a business appreciates you, this is the place. Restaurants are faced with a higher cost of doing business and companies like this are obviously working hard and earning your business. They have exceeded my expectation. It did take us 40 minutes which was the only drawback, but the rest of the evening was great. We wanted to sit outside so we went to the bar for a couple of cocktails - bartender was super. There is also a huge outside bar area which we didn't realize until later. Food was all good - we started with the mussels and those were fantastic. Went tonight with four adults and three kids. Everyone loved their food - two kids had the homemade mac and cheese, my dad had the weck (which we all tried and loved - very flavorful and the bun was to die for), and my husband had the ribeye sandwich (he wouldn't let anyone have a bite, he ate every bit). I shared the steam pot with my daughter and my mom had the french onion soup. We all raved about our food. The fries were great and definitely homemade. We took desserts to go. The service was very good, there was a great band. My dad and husband plan to go back to listen to the band more after the kiddos go to sleep My husband was a little disappointed there weren't any interesting local beers on tap... but we are from Wisconsin and probably a little spoiled in this regard. read more

We had a little trouble finding the place but once we did we found a cute restaurant with live music, nice view, and plenty of seating. We were disappointed to find out that they were out of almost all draft beers and good amount of bottled beers. Now they were getting ready to close up for the winter in about 4 weeks but still should have at least had bottled beers stocked! They give you chips and dip to start, complementary which was nice. I had the Montreal dip sandwich and it was very good but the fries are extremely thin and we're more like chips than fries. My husband had a burger, he ordered it medium well and it came out well so it was a little dry. My major issue was the fruit flies, the were everywhere.
