The Boathouse is a summertime favorite spot for my family. Great food and nice scenery on the water.

I've been to Wilson Boat House several times over the years and it's typically quite good so perhaps tonight was just an off-night or new staff but was a little disappointed. Starting with the good, though the entrees were a lukewarm (might have been sitting there a bit), the flavor on the jerk chicken was nicely prepared and well seasoned as were the small potatoes. It was my first time sitting inside and the restaurant was clean and spacious. The lower rating was more on the service side. The salad (ordered to share but no side plates brought) was about 1/3 bad lettuce but that happens. More than that however each step seemed slow, from ordering, to the entrees (took over an hour), to trying to get a drink; it seemed our waitress was not often around/attentive. I could see if it was busy but seemed like there were 3-4 waitresses, each covering only 2-3 tables. Not sure what it was this time around read more

Perfect Sunset Vibes at the Wilson Boathouse We grabbed a table outside at sunset and couldn't have timed it better--golden hour over the water, a soft breeze, and the sounds of nostalgic '70s rock in the background. It was the kind of evening that makes you want to linger. The beef on weck was a classic done right--tender, flavorful, and true to its New York roots. Excellent lunch with great family and friends. There were many things ordered but I would pick the fish fry again, it was that good. Chicken tenders, salads, burgers all looked delish! The servers from the hostess to waitress to buss people friendly, helpful and inviting. read more

Our waitress totally lacked in personality and in her serving skills. I ordered clam chowder and for a place that is known for their seafood, what a huge disappointment. It was very expensive and it was more like a soup not a chowder, it had no flavor.... so bland tasting. It tasted mostly of heavy cream, it was thin with a few small pieces of clams or potatoes. I waited 30 minutes for a bowl of "chowder" and it was lukewarm. I ordered the fish fry, which was wonderful. My husband ordered seafood pesto pasta, and it was disgusting. My husband said the shrimp in his dish tasted fishy not fresh. The pesto sauce in his dish was very un appetizing. The ambience was lovely, we sat outside by the water and it was very relaxing. Went here on a warm Saturday June afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. We made reservations to sit on the patio, arrived a few minutes early and they sat us immediately right by the boat docks. This was our first time here and we had high hopes because we love trying new places, especially by the water. Our waitress was Madison, and she was 100% on her game, and made the entire visit fantastic! I'm always big on service and I couldn't have asked for anything better from her. She was very nice and welcoming and patient with our decision-making and questions. Their 2021 menu is huge and we all ordered something different and everything was top-notch. We had a fish fry, burger, lobster roll, and customized avocado turkey burger. From the refreshing drinks to the great tasting food, we were all very impressed. We will definitely be visiting this place again and bring friends to also experience this summer time hot spot. They also have live music Friday & Saturday nights. Showed up for a dinner reservation (party of 4) on time and got seated immediately. That was the best part of my experience. After that, things went downhill fast. Our table and several others were not set for guests - no cutlery, no water glasses, no anything. After 20+ minutes a server came over to take our drink order at which time our food order was also placed. 3/4 drinks came within minutes while the 4th needed to be reordered because the waitress seemed to have forgotten about it. Our food was served neatly 90 minutes after we were seated and, without exception, all the meals were cold. We trued to power through and not complain but it was all our dinner conversation revolved around...2 cold salmon dinners, 1cold order of fish tacos, and 1 very well done and cold filet mignon. TERRIBLE. The waitress apologized every time she passed by but, for what? She didn't try to do anything about the bad experience and we paid our bill (over $200) and left. Loved it. Great atmosphere, friendly service, tasty food. If you don't have a reservation for the "lower part of the deck" you will have to sit on the upper part. The place is certainly beautiful being right on the lake. Unfortunately the weather did cooperate with us but we decided to try it anyway. Dining inside we ended up getting a new waitress. I'm guessing because It wasn't busy and they're winding down the season. That being said service was good / decent. Food was average. Nothing to "must see". We had the filet mignon which was over cooked to our specification and a fish fry baked. Which had no seasoning or flavor. On a busy summer day you probably wouldn't notice the food being average. Taken for birthday dinner on a Thursday evening. Arrived and was not crowded at all and was asked if wanted to sit inside or outside, which was nice to be given a choice. Because it was a very hot evening was asked for inside, however when they asked about the table, no staff mentioned the ac was broken and after being seated we realized it was sweltering inside. If they had mentioned the ac issue we would have chose outside at least for the breeze. Drinks arrived and wife and I had draft beer, but due to the heat the beer arrived not very cold. Looking around, cleanliness was below average with dirty floors and windows. The food was about average for a higher than average cost. My wife and I had a fish fry and hers was somehow heavy on the beer batter and she had to peal a lot of the breading off and she had like a 4 inch mountain of breading piled up on her plate due to the over breading. We have come here in years past, but unfortunately things look like they are heading downhill. read more

I've dined here on three different occasions. Did not enjoy my food the first two times, but I guess the third time is a charm! Wilson Boathouse totally redeemed themselves this visit with the service and food! We were immediately sat on the patio Saturday afternoon- it was v relaxing. (They do need to clean up the spider webs tho!). The coconut shrimp was really delicious and the turkey burgers and sweet potato waffle fries were amazing as well. We left fulfilled, happy and with a completely different impression than we had before we arrived! Happy to go back soon! read more

We enjoyed lunch here on a Saturday. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was wonderful. This is such a beautiful place with an excellent view of the water. The decor is so quaint and the food was absolutely delicious. The kids menu comes with a choice of several sides, which is great if your kids like having choices. Our kids both got the grilled cheese, one got fries and the other got a side salad. They enjoyed their meals so much. My husband got the fried captain's platter and the portions were large and were so good. I ordered the Pork and Peaches, a pork chop with bourbon glazed peaches and butternut squash purée. I had it with a side salad and everything I had was amazing! It was definitely added to my list of places to come back to when we visit the area again. read more

Went for Mother's Day brunch with a huge crowd of twelve. They told us they could accommodate us three weeks ago, which I was thrilled about because not many people can seat that many people at one table. When we got there, they had two tables one of ten and one of four that wasn't connected set up. So for Mother's Day they expected us to sit apart from each other. We squeezed and all sat at one table. The food was excellent I had the avocado eggs Benedict, and it was phenomenal. The mimosas where good and not weak like some places. The first one was free for mother's, and mother's got a carnation also. One more issue was we had to wait about an hour for our food I understand a big table is hard but an hour is a little excessive, and the last two plates to come out where for the two little kids. We were camping at 4mile creek and decided to go to dinner on Saturday night making reservations at 4:30. We arrived on time, they seated us and gave us menus and water. 25 minutes later my friend went up to the hostess to ask for our server. It must've been the manager she followed my friend to our table and apologized many times and gave us a round of drinks. Soon after out waitress showed up. The crab cakes were pretty good. Family style salad. I had the cajun broiled haddock. Not very Cajun. It was a nice place. Would I rush back.. no. We did go on the complimentary boat ride down the harbor. This place is beautiful. The view is second to none. It seems well kept and clean. I went in with a party of six on a Monday. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Our food took just under an hour. Three salads, fish tacos, coconut shrimp and a turkey burger should not take that long to prepare. The portions were so small for the money. The salad size was what most places serve as a dinner salad. The fish tacos were not Impressive, a chunk of fried fish with some cheese. The coconut shrimp are better from Schwan's. The person who ordered the turkey burger was very happy. I understand food is expensive, but this was over the top in value for money. We won't be back. read more

The location was beautiful and the place had a great vibe. We planned to order food and that's where this visit went wrong. We ordered crab cakes - clams casino and the black and blue salad. We were so excited to be there - it was an anniversary lunch. The service was solid - I think the table cleaner may have started to eat the plastic table cloth - because it was sticky. Our food came - the crab cakes were fishy tasting and had no sear - they were almost like a pate. The clams casino was like a shell filled with mash potatoes. The steak salad which should have been a home run - tasted like dirty grill and it was like it was cooked twice - couldn't even pull it apart. The greens were good but that's about all good I could find in the food. There wasn't a manger working to speak with and the server did her best. I wish I could say better things. read more

The Wilson Boathouse opened this weekend under new ownership. Gone are the Parmesan fries...and that's possibly the only thing most people will miss. I actually thought it was pretty good before, but now it's great, with a somewhat larger, but still cohesive menu and lower prices. There aren't many places you can get a 14 oz rib-eye cooked to perfection (that's medium rare for me) for $26. It was thick, juicy, and tender with the right amount of marbling. I added a side of lobster mac. At first I thought they brought me the $20 entree instead of the $8 side, but it's just that generous. So much lobster. The only thing I didn't like is how dry and crispy the noodles on top were, but the portion was so large and the lobster was so decadent, it didn't really bother me. I forget the name of my drink, but it had grape vodka, Curacao, and grenadine, and tasted very similar to the Ecstacy under the old ownership's specialty cocktail menu. They also have lots of local wines. The price per glass was the only thing that raised my eyebrows, but none of us had wine so I don't know how generous the pour is. Both sons had Shark Attacks to drink, some sort of sprite blue raspberry concoction. They came with a gummy shark and Swedish fish speared with a plastic sword. The kids meals were huge. The burger with one meal was adult sized, and the two chicken tenders were large as well. Plenty of tasty fries. Everyone was really impressed with the fries, which were well seasoned and tasted great even without dipping them into something. Perfectly crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, not too much salt or pepper. My mother in law loved her roast beef sandwich. The only let down was the roasted asparagus I ordered as a side for my husband, who wasn't very hungry. They were big and thick and could have benefited from a little more roasting. I ordered the captains platter and every single item on it came out lukewarm - almost cold. The fish was tasteless. Location, location, location! First off, I got engaged here two years ago we go back all the time. This place is amazing. Great prices, great food. They have higher end options and very reasonable sandwiches. We went on a Saturday night during the summer for a double date. Each couples bill was in the $60's, which included drinks, appetizers and sandwich dinners. The location/decor are really nice and our server was good as well. However, the food was extremely disappointing. In particular, the seafood of all things was very poor quality, no flavor and served barely warm. It's a good spot for drinks and perhaps bar snacks but I would stay clear of the seafood...which is rather sad for a 'boat house' restaurant. read more

Tonight we went to dinner at the Wilson Boathouse which is roughly a 40 minute drive from Wheatfield. We've been going there for dinner during the summer seasons roughly about 20 yrs. We've seen staff, management, and ownership change over the years. Tonight, we had our most disappointing meal. The restaurant is brightly lit with sunshine streaming through the windows, decorated with sheer curtains, the musical entertainment here, in the past, has always drawn great crowds of exuberant dancers, but this new menu and perhaps, new staff, and chef, need to up their game. The two of us like sweet wine; anything from a white Zinfandel, to a Riesling or a Moscato. The only one to even fall into that ballpark was a Moscato by Giuseppe. We bought one that our waitress had to search for in the cellar and it arrived warm, not chilled. Never heard of it before & it was extremely effervescent!! How about carrying some NY State wines like Barefoot which come in huge varieties? You used to carry some from local wineries! We like appetizers, and one of the familiar ones is their crab cakes of which there are two, that we share, which you can tell, are made fresh and have always been delicious. They came but we're drenched in a very hot sauce, or aioli. I had a quarter of it and gave the rest to my husband and ordered their summer berry salad. It arrived loaded with lots of fresh berries and a dressing beside it. I had to page the waitress because my summer berry salad with crumbled goat cheese came with blu cheese dressing? Who puts blu cheese dressing on a summer salad with crumbled goat cheese? I requested the waitress to get balsamic dressing. I had only a few bites of my salad when my entree arrived, along with my husbands. I hadn't finished my salad yet! My chicken ? Alvierini? wrapped in prosciutto & stuffed with minuscule amounts of vegetable and mozzarella was so over cooked that I had difficulty cutting it and the risotto was soggy & had little taste. My husband ordered the fish tacos which I believe were to have ahi tuna in them but had a scattering of some veggies & very little ?fish?. The tacos dripped some kind of dressing, and they came with very brown, crusty chips. My husband and I always look forward to the weekend, to go out to eat and sample all the fine food our area restaurants have to offer. We are always proud to say that Western New York has some of the finest restaurants, and dining establishments, but tonight, we were sorely disappointed with what we encountered at the Wilson Boathouse, and will be crossing you off of our list of recommendations. read more

07.19.19 Tried the Boathouse again this season. Beyond horrible still. Chicken Marsala was inevitable. Sauce came out if a jar...the chicken breast small, cold and you could tell it was a frozen chicken breast part. Two other people got the medium well fillets. Both severely over cooked and the actual quality of the cut was in question, if it even was what it was stated. If you want to go for a drink, they can't ruin that....the food is way over priced and is horrible. Should be no stars. read more

Must go to when you're in Wilson! The interior is warm and welcoming. Lots of natural light with an elegant look. Lots of outdoor seating that is covered. Right on the water. They have a selection of bands playing and an outdoor bar. You can relax and listen to the band either at the outside bar or on some lawn furniture. Food is great! Ordered the Mahi Tacos, Crab Cake appetizer, and Chicken Alfredo. All delicious. They also give you some bread to much on when you sit down. read more

Charming restaurant along the water. If you walk across the street and look across Lake Ontario, then you can actually see Toronto! It is clearly an old house that has been converted into a restaurant bar, but it exudes old world elegance in a way that few places do. We didn't eat, but sat for a while and had a drink overlooking the boats of the Tuscarora Yacht Club. This place is likely a ghost town during the harsh Buffalo winters, but I would say that this is one of the nicer places to have a drink in all of Buffalo. The one problem is that it is like 45 min away from civilization. If you have the right company in the car, then the drive will go quickly. Definitely a great place to pass the afternoon or catch a sunset with someone special. Let this place be the ace up your sleeve for your next anniversary dinner. My advice: Just do it on a day with nice weather. Rearrange your special events accordingly. read more

Amazing food with a great atmosphere. Sat on the patio and had a great view of the docks. Waitress and hostess were both very friendly and prompt. Had a wine flight of four wines from their good sized selection for $10. Good sized servings of wine for a flight. Raw clams were cold and fresh and pretzels with beer cheese were good. Seafood dip had nice shrimp toasted on top. The seafood chowder had full sized clams and a very good flavor. Everything was fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. Good sized servings for everything and the patio option makes for a great meal ambience on nice days. Nothing bad to say about the food or service. Will be back for more!! read more

My husband and I decided to try this place because it's right on the water, and the view of the boats is nice. The food was okay, but definitely not as good as we were expecting. Also, we brought it to our waitress's attention that there was a piece of plastic in our calamari that my husband bit into and she just said "that's bizarre" and that was the only response. We didn't ask for anything to be comped and nothing was, but I do think that the lack of any real response from the restaurant about an inedible piece of plastic being in the food was disappointing. Overall, it wasn't a great experience and we won't be back, which is a shame because the space is cute. read more

Saturday night 5:30 reservations so not crazy busy. I had the cedar plan salmon which I could cut into strips against the grain that held together (shouldn't it flake?). There was no cedar plank and sauce on top was like duck sauce you'd typically see at a Chinese take out place. My husband's fish fry was good, but the sweet potato waffle fries (normally his favorite) were served cold. My father in law had the filet (good, but $48 and the waffle fries were cold). There were a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. The quality of the food here seems to have gone down quite a bit. Very disappointed. Do they have a new cook or something?? Finally got some pictures during our fourth visit for brunch! We've been lucky every Sunday with beautiful calm weather seated outside viewing the lake and the boats at the marina. During this visit (and every visit) my daughter got the Docksider. Traditional cheeseburger with their excellent and crispy fries. My son got the Buffalo Bill, which is Beef on Weck with pub cheese. He loved this. My husband is a traditionalist, getting the Americana with a side of bacon. The bacon is thick cut, cooked perfectly, crispy! I tend to navigate the menu and on this visit got the Crab Cakes Benedict. Their crab cakes are excellent, jumbo lumps, not a bunch of filler. The poached eggs were prepared just right, like over easy...topped with a flavorful hollandaise. Our server was very good, the only one when we arrived but kept up with us just fine. Their Bloody Mary was nicely executed and Mimosa was good as well. We will most definitely be back again for another lazy Sunday brunch at the beautiful Wilson Boat House. They start service at 10am and have reservations on their website. There is a kids menu as well. read more

Excellent spot, went to visit our friend who got off work, they had Dual Pianos playing which was 2 keyboardist playing and doing comedy, I almost pissed myself . We ordered this fried avocado appetizer that you dipped in a type of aioli sauce that was really good. For my entree I ordered the beer battered fish fry which was excellent! Nice looking and pleasant unfortunately our meals where less than stellar, certainly overpriced for the quality. 4 of us went for dinner, looked over the menu, made our selections only to find out our 1st choices were not available. When our 2nd choices arrived they didn't live up to the menu descriptions one of the major disappointments was the poutine, short on gravy and the cheese curds were breaded and deep fried, something that wasn't mentioned in the menu.
