Menu has changed... reduced food options. Think twice about bringing your boat! I came here with friends for dinner on my boat. We tied up to the pier. Within 20 minutes I walked down the pier to check on my boat and found that a group of 20 something's where on my boat taking pictures lounging around like they owned it! I identified myself as the owner of the boat and asked them to leave. They got off my boat but a flurry of vulgar verbal abuse ensued. I won't be back and if you bring your boat .... I recently ate at Sunset Cove, and overall it was pretty good. It's plenty of parking, and the scenario is nice too. However, the music wasn't my taste, nut people were on their personal boats playing loud music. It should be a rule to not have the music so loud especially when only feet away from the restaurant. As far as the restaurant, the Manager and waitress was accommodating all things considered. Overall, the food was really good. Everything was good, but the seafood pasta. If you like lots of sauce, and flavor do not order the seafood pasta. It didn't have any flavor (NONE), and it was dry. I was able to order the chicken and shrimp cajun pasta instead. The other dishes my party ordered included the caesar salad, grilled chicken caesar salad, shrimp tacos, crab balls, steak, chicken cajun pasta, burgers, and honey glazed salmon. Everyone who ordered the salmon said it was excellent. The mash potatoes were delicious too! The chicken and shrimp cajun pasta was really good as well. In contrast, if you are bringing a large party of 8-10 your only option is to sit at a picnic table. The table we sat at was slanted. Nothing fell off, but it was uncomfortable to say the lease. We asked to move to a different picnic table that was not slanted. We were told that we could not move, but 30 minutes later a party was sitting there. It's only a few picnic tables so they should always be available for parties 7-10, but it was four people sitting at one of the picnic tables which shouldn't be, but that's my opinion. It's plenty of table to accommodate 1-6 people. I would have been piss if all the picnic tables were taken by parties less that 7. Thankfully not. read more

After a friend recommended this tiki bar, my boyfriend and I decided to take a 45min drive down to Sunset Cove. Words cannot describe thy bigotry I experienced at this place!!! I wish I could post this video of the discrimination I received last night at sunset cove. Travis, the bartender continuously walked past me and ignored me and my boyfriend as if we didn't exist. The bar was busy, but a good bartender would acknowledge new seated customers with a napkin and a smile. Customer service is important and Travis was not welcoming at all. He did not give equal attention to others sitting at the bar and stayed near the one couple in particular. When I flagged him down to make my order he was short with me and before ordering our drinks and food, we asked about the signature drinks on the menu and some advice. Travis insisted on a drink, as his patience was running low. That's where our experience took a turn the worse. After taking a sip of the drink, I realized it was way too sweet for my boyfriend. After about another 15mins of trying to get Travis's attention, I informed him that the drink was too sweet for us and asked politely if it is possible to make a different drink that is not as sweet. He told me with force and irritation "you ordered it so you have to drink it. We don't take drinks back." Considering I didn't want to return my drink, but just for him to fix it by reshaking it with less syrup I let him know that I did not mind paying for more alcohol- however he suggested the drink and should take responsibility for how the drink turns out. Travis dismissed me and stated it "was policy" and I can speak to a supervisor. Adam, the supervisor came over to speak with me. I clarified our slight issue with the drink Travis had provided us. Adam explained this "policy" that they do not take drinks back, assumed I wanted a free drink and insisted on me to pay my tab. His tone was argumentative, condescending and racially biased. I am a biracial woman, sitting at the bar with a black man and being asked to pay before my food before it is served seemed very unreasonable. I explained to him several times that I did have an issue with paying for the drink because I had an open tab but I really just wanted something I could actually enjoy drinking. I felt very unwelcomed, rushed and discarded by both Adam and Travis. And to add more insult to our encounter Adam told me "sorry for your luck"... The "policy" they referred to was not posted anywhere or in the menu. It was made up in order to force me to purchase something that I didn't like. Being that we were one of two black couples in the establishment, I felt ostracized by Adam not using better judgement while handling our complaint. He was loud and trying to make it seem as what I was asking for needed to be on display for the people at the bar. He was noticeably irritated that we were trying to reason with him and other guests came to me afterward to ask if we were ok because his tone and body language was disrespectful. The behavior was unacceptable and showed the other patrons that he definitely had tolerance with us and it was evident that it was based on our skin color. Adam's nonchalant attitude has no place in a customer service environment and as a person who has been in the service industry for many years, I see many opportunities where your establishment fell short. In an environment where many things are racially fueled negatively, a $5 drink should not bring out the worst in people, it's a shame that Adam and Travis took that opportunity to be bigots. I did not consume my food or drinks even though we paid for everything, luckily a bar within walking distance witnessed the whole thing and offered to serve us and we did get one drink. read more

I don't know what guidelines they were practicing since everyone at the bar was touching elbows. - The food and drink are definitely not worth it. Very subpar. Honestly your paying for a view but don't forget your bug-spray. - The servers are all millennials and being a millennial myself i was very annoyed by there service. Our server barely checked on the table and was hard to flag down. They mostly stood by the back bar area talking. -The bathroom was disgusting! Large white trailer with like 4 dirty stalls and 2 dirty sinks. - They don't do separate checks so please be aware. Nor do they keep track of each guest order. We literally had to tell our waitress how much we were paying. Never been somewhere where I needed to do your job for you. -The next day my friends account was charged 100$ for a 40$ meal. Food is decent, it is the standard menu for Baltimore waterfront places nothing special but good. If they want to stay the "happening place" they need to tone it down a little. They seem to forget that they are in Baltimore not Ocean City. They charge every person walking in the door for dinner a $5 cover (we arrived at 7:30) just to see a hostess. They reserve special spots for their VIP patrons so you have to park super far away unless you know someone. They run your card for $50 to open a tab but don't tell you. Side Note- I called to ask the manager about the $50 charge and she got really nasty on the phone telling me I need to read the signs posted and told me "places in OC have had that policy for years". Two days later the correct charge did end up posting but she could have handled my question a lot better. BTW I lived in OC and never had a bar post $50 to your account when opening a tab to "make sure you can pay". Bottom Line- NOT a customer friendly place but it has a nice atmosphere. We came pretty excited to get some food by the water and were pretty pleased with the ambiance. I also hear they have live music on the weekends which I imagine adds to that. Not sure if this was just for my visit but a heads up when my group arrived the inside of the restaurant was completely closed and they were only serving outside. We were all okay with that, but keep in mind this is for mild rain or shine, mid way into our meal we were hit with rain. They don't bring guest inside in that case but they do bring out big umbrellas to cover tables. The issue that knocked down my rating was specifically with my order. I ordered a chicken caesar salad. It came out with no chicken. I immediately informed the server. I was told that it should be on it's way shortly, and waited patiently, but it never came out. Our waitress was sweet and comped the whole salad without being asked which was much appreciated. I would just rather be told that the chicken wasn't coming out rather than continuously being updated that it was on it's way out and then never getting it. They actually have a great rockfish salad, which I would give 5 stars, but unfortunately it's not just food that makes an experience great. Well, this place used to have great food. Came here on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy some drinks and split some apps with my mom. We ordered the Galloway fries and jerk chicken. The jerk chicken tenders were extremely tiny and only came with 3. They also had an odd taste. My mom referred to it being similar to a licorice aftertaste, yuck. The fries were just meh. There was hardly any cheese or bacon on them. The fries themselves tasted like the fryer had just fried up some fish. On the upside, the pina coladas we had were great. They were pricey, but that's to be expected with any restaurant on the water. Because we enjoyed the drinks and scenery, I'm giving 3 stars. Overall, I don't think we'll be back for food but maybe we will return if we ever wanted to enjoy some drinks on the water. read more

Came for a girlfriend's 30th birthday. The view is beautiful! Since we were there for a party, we did not have to pay the $5 cover charge, which I thought was strange. $5 to eat at a restaurant, be it outside on the sand?! Drinks were good, food was ok, nothing stood out BUT the crab fries were delicious! The crab dip on the fries... yes please!!! We didn't pay for our drinks, they were paid for by her bf. But I was told if you open a tab, they hold $50 on your card! A $50 hold is a bit crazy to me. Parking is not great. There's guys directing you on where to park, which was very far from the restaurant. Not sure if it was due to being Friday night. Not a lot of lights, so I was walking in the dark by myself to meet my friends. My 4 stars is for the view mainly, it's a beautiful restaurant, great place for a birthday party, girls night out, etc. Nice to sit outside by the water, sand underneath your feet. read more

This is a great little find hidden right in Bowley's Quarters. My wife and I arrived at about 6 p.m. on a Saturday. They had attendants there helping you find your way to a parking space. We were immediately seated outside right on the water. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The band started playing at 7 p.m. so we got to enjoy some live music to boot. My bacon cheeseburger was about as good as they come and my wife's grilled Romaine was excellent. We're definitely coming back. read more

We came to a sunset last Friday evening for a dual birthday party. We were told that we couldn't be seated until 80% of our party had arrived so we hung out at the bar until everyone else showed up. We were seated promptly and our server Sydney was great! Food was great along with the atmosphere even though we were on the second floor in the back room. We had the windows opened up which made the experience more enjoyable. The only issue I had was I ordered the tuna poke and didn't have any silverware. No one did when appetizers arrived. Just a little food for thought get some chop sticks for the tuna poke. Using a spoon or fork doesn't work very well. We will return to Sunset in the future. read more

We waited over two hours....they sat several parties before us because they "were friends with the bartenders" and we did not get to enjoy our food and ended up taking it to go because they would not seat us. Very disorganized There are so many other amazing places in the Baltimore area with amazing food that are more worth your money and business. Owner needs to read a business 101 book. She is under the mistaken assumption that the customers are there to meet her needs. We went on a very beautiful day, it was crowded. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for a table, we waited just over an hour. Once we were seated we had a lovely server and proceeded to wait 90 minutes for our food to come. The food was run of the mill bar food. We wish we would have paid and left early, but we remained pleasant and waited. At the end, I went to the hostess stand and explained what had happened and requested a drink ticket or two for our wait. I did not realize I was speaking to the owner, Jeannne. She did apologize, but in a way that her real message was clear. She was impolite and unprofessional. She said I was there for a freebie.. lady, we just spent almost $100. in your restaurant. She encouraged me to write a review. Luckily, there are places with equally nice views and better food which we will patronize in the future. read more

One of my favorite places to kick back and relax. Located right on the water in scenic Bowleys Quarters. Really good food and the drink menu is fantastic. They have bands on the weekend but that stops after Labor Day. You can sit in or outside but with this beautiful view that option is a no brained. You will love this place read more

Having enjoyed the Long Beach Oyster House's holiday brunches Spring to Mid Summer 2017, found out their ownership changed from Fallston Seafood owners to Steele group as the newest owner. Steele group revived Freddie's into Dead Freddie's and Wild Duck Cafe into Sunset Cove. June 2018 SUNSET COVE: What I noticed is the quality of food at Sunset Cove (only) tends to become sloppy or inconsistent. My guests were still starving because they were not impressed by their blackened fish tacos (I believe). After which they went somewhere else to eat. Another guest's calamari as well as my coconut shrimp was yummy. On the other hand, the burgers went from amazing hand formed (last year) to seemingly frozen run- of-the-mill patties aka: nothing special. However, the drinks and service was generally good regardless of the extensive crowds and the ridiculous $5 cover charge which should be deducted from dinner checks. Band or not - it was definitely OVERRATED and in my opinion, NOT worth the experience. For what it's worth, I'd like the option of a receipt for the cost of the cover charges spent when I'm entertaining guests. read more

This was hands down the most disappointing experience in recent memory. It started off well enough. The scene and vibe are cool. I rode out to Sunset Cove with a friend and we walked out onto the sand, put our names in, and sat on the dock for about 20 minutes and waited to be called. So far so good. We tried a couple of orange crushes on special for $5 each and they were good...not much to screw up on a drink consisting of orange vodka, sweet orange liquor, orange juice, and Sprite. This crush was tasty and refreshing as expected. We were called and shown to our table. The service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. Everything happened quickly and pleasantly. Once we ordered things went downhill. We tried the Rockfish Tenders based on a recommendation from a friend. These were gross. These were 4 large hunks of white fish with a THICK tempura batter and a generic chipotle mayo dipping sauce that tasted like it came out of a 5 gallon jug. Presentation was nonexistent. The hunks were laid out on top of some wilted lettuce with no other color beside the bland brown of the fish and the dull green of the lettuce. Even the dipping sauce came on a separate plate, further breaking up the presentation. Admittedly, and similarly to the crush, these tasted good, but they were deep fried heavily battered fish...they tasted like deep fried. There was absolutely no subtlety or hint of creativity present. Next came our Hurricane burger with mushrooms, onion, provolone, and creamy horseradish. This was bad from before it even hit the table. It literally took 10 minutes max from the time the waitress left with our order until she returned with our burger. I've worked in restaurants for over 10 years...this was clearly either someone else's returned order or had just been sitting in the window. It showed when we bit in...our medium rare burger was medium well to well done...no pink anywhere. It was still juicy and the vibe, to be mentioned next, was grating and we didn't want to take the extra time to send the burger back. So our overcooked burger was still juicy but had no flavor whatsoever. My dining partner tried a bite of just the burger without toppings or bun and said it was horrible, tasting like someone had cooked it unseasoned in a oven. The "creamy horseradish" tasted like mayo, nothing more. In one bite I did taste a hint of horseradish but that was just one bite...the rest tasted like it was slathered with mayo, which I hate on my burgers and would have asked them to leave off if I had known the horseradish flavor was so light as to be unnoticeable. The fries were very good. Crispy and abundant. Now the final straw that made us flee back into the city. Sunset Cove is a chill island-themed bar on the bay complete with sand and frequent live music. Think Seacrets of Ocean City in Middle River. But the music they were playing sounded like hype up music you might hear at the end of the night at a bad night club as the DJ tries to raise the energy of the crowd as last call approaches. I felt like I should be in dark, steamy room with bubbles falling from the ceiling. Song after poppy loud grating song passed over us as we longed for anything reggae, country, classic rock, anything mellow that would fit with sand in my toes, a boat drink in my hand, and an afternoon on the bay spread out in front of me. It was such a shame. We went with such high hopes that were completely shattered. My friend says she'll give it another shot. I will not. Why go 25 minutes for overpriced tasteless food and a poor vibe and have to worry about driving when I can walk down to any number of bars and restaurants in Fells and along Boston Street and get the same overpriced food on the water but without the bad music and commute. I suggest you do the same. It's not worth the trip. Stay local. And if Sunset Cove is local, make the trip elsewhere and actually enjoy your Sunday afternoon in the sun. read more

We tried to enjoy Father's Day at this restaurant but it did not happen! The staff was very rude and wasn't helpful at all . We had a reservation and when we got there they tried to put all 16 of us at one table , which was not possible . Some of us in the party are larger . The table next to us was empty and there was also not parties waiting but the host told us they had to keep it open . With an establishment that charges automatic 18% gratuity you would think they would want their employees to make money . I strongly believe if my family and I we're a different race the staff and manager would have been more willing to accommodate us . read more

I ordered a prime rib steak sandwich. And it was very dry but I started eating it because the waitress didn't come back to check on us very quickly. When she finally did come back she asked how everything was and I told her my sandwich was very dry, prime rib should be moist and pink. She said she couldn't do anything about it because I had already eaten half of it. I asked for the manager. The manager told me the same thing. I said if my waitress had come back quickly I would not have had time to eat half the sandwich. I asked to speak to someone above her. She said she is the general manager and no one is above her. So I asked for the owner. She refused to give me his name. I told her I was not going to pay for the sandwich. She said you have to. As we were leaving I asked the host "who owns the restaurant?" She looked up at the manager and I said don't ask her she won't tell me. The manager told me I am not welcome back to that restaurant ever again I am banned from coming there. When we got home we looked up who the owner was, I called the restaurant back and asked for him and of course the manager would not give me his contact information. She also told me that she told me that I was never to come back there again and don't call anymore. I told her she's the worst manager I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor go down the street to Bowleys by the Bay, they have outdoor beach seating too and I'm sure a much better manager because no one could be worse than Sarah. Today we went to The New Seasoned Mariner which is on Wise Ave in Dundalk. It also has beach seating and a beautiful inside dining area. I asked who owned it and I was told right away, no secrets there. I guess they are a little more concerned about their customer feedback. Mr Steele one of my favorite restaurants is The Hickory Lodge, I love your Berry Salad. It's just a shame that Sunset Cove doesn't have the quality of help that your other restaurant, The Lodge has. read more

Worth going to! We walked in around 430on a Saturday night and it's now 5:11! The place was clean clean clean! Service was FAST. Our waitress was attentive and polite! She kept our drinks full and had another beer on the table before he was finished with his first, she was so fast i actually missed her putting it on the table. Atmosphere was great for our family of four (3 & 1 year old minions). It would be a great date night place too though. Cream of Crab soup is GREAT! Favorite place to go in the summer! Beautiful scenery, amazing drinks, and great company! My favorite drinks are the orange crushes and traditional fishbowls, which are two for one on Tuesdays. My favorite menu items are the chicken jetty sandwich and crab nachos. You can make reservations on the deck and inside, but not on the beach. I recommend this if you're going with a large group for a meal. If you're looking to hang out the beach is the best place, but there is a two hour limit. The best time to hang out is on a Sunday afternoon. Weekend nights can be a lot of fun, but prepare for long waits to be sat/food delivered and nightmare parking. Blueberry crushes are nasty as is the pasta salad. Scuba Steve at the tiki bar is the best bartender. I think that's all for now! In summary: Great place, just be prepared to be patient!
