First things first. Ann the manicurist is amazing. I follow her when she goes and works at a different solan. Sunset Glow is in San Clemente on El Camino Real. As must of us we've been getting manicures & pedicures forever. I fine some places up sell you to death. That has never happened at Sunset Glow. They have a brochure what extra things but only if you ask. When you ask for extra things you are told the price so you can decide wether or not you want it. I went to a different solan with my friends 6 year old daughter and what a cluster ------- that was. We sat in pedicure chairs which were not working to give us a message. They filled pedicure tub with scolding hot water. They didn't check on us to ask how's everything going. They charged me for the 6 year old full price and had her feet done longer because of the special calluses remover lotion. WHAT SHE IS 6 not a callus on anything. Oh ya she got flowers without talking to me. I refused to pay for it. They did not ask me for permission. Sunset Glow has never pulled that trick on us. They are on time and your not trolling around and waiting for ever. Water or other drinks are given to you as soon as you sit down. The pedicure tub is barely full and they ask if it's to hot. They have special liners to keep it germ free. All their tools are in sanitized sealed bags. One very important thing, they do not nick your cuticles. The salon is quiet and tranquil. I enjoy their beautiful salt water fish tank. I have been a customer of Ann's for 18 years. All the employees are so nice. You must try them for a great experience. read more

Their massage chairs give a really great massage and the hot stone tangerine pedicure treatment was out of this world. This salon came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I took my daughter for a treat to get her nails done for the first time . My was amazingly gentle with my daughter and her nails turned out amazing! Anne worked on me and as all the reviews state, she is wonderful. She pays close attention to you and your needs and makes enjoyable conversation. Anne and her staff greeted her customers immediately and even knew most by name. All of the staff are very friendly. Honestly, they never do what I ask for. They always do a terrible job. I show a picture and they say they can do it and they can't. Plus they charge way too much especially for not even doing a full set correctly. They also talk crap about you in front of your face and I can completely understand what they are saying. I have been coming here for years and am happy every time I leave. Everyone here is very friendly and when you become a regular they give you hugs which is super sweet. They are very clean and never worry about their tools being sanitized. Every person gets a new unopened sanitized package that they use on you. I never feel like they're trying to get the job quickly, they take their time and do it right. I'm sad because I am planning on moving soon but anytime I'm back in town I'll be sure to give them a visit. read more

I was really excited about coming here because of all of the great reviews, but I was pretty disappointed. Not only were the ladies not very nice, they didn't do a very good job on my gel manicure. They hardly had any options for colors. It took well over an hour and there were little bumps in the polish. I pointed this out and she said it was because my nails were short...I've been getting gel manicures for years now and that's never been a problem. Overall, I'm just disappointed. $30 for a crappy gel manicure rubs me the wrong way. I won't be coming back. read more

I have been going to Sunset since it opened and have been a client of Ann & Mai for 5 years. They are exceptional at what they do, entire staff friendly & professional. Great place and always the best job. Would not go anywhere else. As for the complaint by April it is always extra for gel nails. If u have acrylic & gel on top it is two separate procedures & I would expect to pay for both. Asking on the phone it sounds like she did not explain exactly what she wanted & didn't confirm when she got there. That was her mistake. I am sure if she had taken time to speak to Ann she would have done something to help make the customer feel good about her visit. She is a caring person & cares about her customers. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I got my nails done here yesterday which​ was one of​ the worst experiences I have ever had. I paid for a gel manicure and regular pedi. Both nail technicians​ were very aggressive​ and hurt me badly. They were poking, scraping and cutting my nails and cuticles​ very aggressively​ to the point that I was in pain. They both did not seem to care when I told them they were hurting me. Massage sucked and my gel polish is not only messy but completely​ bubbled up. I will never go back to this place again. The salon is not the cleanest and their selection​ of gel polish is minimal.​ read more

Nice place, maybe a bit expensive comparing to other salons? Removed my acrylic and replaced it with gelish. The lady was a bit clumsy and I needed to tell her to ease up with the scissor and the dragging of my old acrylic. And then she cut my little finger so bad that I started to bleed. So when my friend and I first moved here we decided this was the best place! But slowly they kind of started to do worse and worse. Like I'd always bleed or they'd be sloppy. So we both stopped coming here, unfortunately cause we loved them at first!! Started going to another business and have never ever had a bad experience. I tried to goto my normal place but they were super booked so I decided to give sunset another try! I asked for a certain color about three times before we started and they said "yes we can do that" then it came down to do the specific color and they tell me okay we'll have to do this instead. I asked for a metallic pink and they literally paint my nail silver after painting it pink first... I said nevermind just keep it pink.. then they just kinda take the silver off and leave it all around my cuticles.. all on some of my other nails. I had to literally grab the tissue from the lady and wipe it off myself because they just left them all nasty looking... they even tried to tell me the metallic was gonna be extra. Lol. I said I will not pay for that. I got so fed up I had to just get up before finishing the rest of my manicure. (Because it's been two hours now at this point) They still charged me full price and I walked out of there unhappy. I don't mind paying and tipping well if the job is done well.. and I am extremely unhappy. Will never come here again and will discourage others from coming. read more

I got my nails done on a sunday (open sunday YESS) while my boyfriend got his hair cut at a shop down the road. I walk into a cute ambiance, immediately greeted, and everyone in professional attire. I tell the lady I just want acrylics and they are only $25! She leads me to the only non-spa chair with a man right next to the fish tank. He doesnt say much and I just watch patiently. His technique wasnt something I hadn't seen before, but it was the combination and care in every detail that completely transformed my nails. Towards the end, I was so curious to what made him tick, and it was passion. I asked, "do you like doing nails?" And his first words to me were, "I love doing nails, ive been doing nails for 13 years." Passion, hard to find, but I now understand art in nails after what this man did. It took well over an hour and I will come back everytime Im with my boyfriend in his hometown. I dont know about what other services they offer but I know it cant get better than this man. We walked in, having an appointment, and began looking at the colors. No one greeted us or even said anything, they just stared at us. After a few minutes of standing there and looking around the woman said 5 minutes and then asked if we wanted to sit together. Which is why we made and appointment in the first place. Five more minutes goes by and they tell us another five. They had employees sitting in chairs propped up with their shoes off, relaxing. We made an appointment for a reason and they didn't honor that and were generally very rude. Used to love this place, now I'm not so sure. read more

Firstly, I don't mean to dog on this place and I'm not usually one to write negative reviews, but I feel it's my job to make people aware of what happened to me. I made an appointment for acrylic gel nails and a gel pedicure.. arrived on time and the water in the tub was barely warm.. no problem I understand that.. then I rubbed my feet on the bottom of it and there was dirt. Dirt particles all over the bottom.. so I sat there.. I had a super nice guy do my nails and a girl did my toenails. They really went out of their way to get the job done everything looked fantastic and since they didn't have a toe light they actually ended up sticking one hand dryer on each foot. I was super impressed by their assistance. The employees are great and super nice.. but while I was sitting there finishing my toes I looked over at the woman next to me and she had a HUGE fungus on her toenail. They proceeded to get her a normal pedi then without cleaning the tub allowed another customer to sit down and get a pedicure. Now I know why there was dirt on the bottom of my tub. Ended up paying $80 for everything not bad but it seemed a little pricey. Unfortunately due to sanitary reasons I will not be back and I will no longer go to any nail salon that doesn't use tub liners. If you're not concerned about infections or fungus this is the place for you. They do an amazing job minus that single detail. read more

The WORST must unprofessional Brazilian I have ever had in 10 years of waxing!! I should have gotten up an walked out! It took twice the time it should have she kept redoing the same spot over 7 times. Then kept asking me if it hurt. So insanely weird! she kept pitting her fingers on my vag even when it wasn't needed! I still feel so violated! It was red for a few days and felt bruised! I am an expert Brazilian receiver! Been coming here since they opened! Best salon I've been too, and I MEAN that. I've been to a lot of nail salons, and this one is the cleanest, friendliest, and most talented. I get my eyebrows done by Ann. I used to go to a brow boutique and spend $50. I think Ann does a way better job, and for only $10 (plus the fat tip i leave her). She does this amazing eyebrow/temple massage after too...my fav part. They are extremely clean and accommodating too, just try and call before you go in cuz they can get really busy!
