    Sunset super.
    Candice F.

Sunset Grill has been one of my go-to breakfast places when I spontaneously decide I'm craving to go out because it's generally very consistent no matter which one I go to, and the meal I enjoy is priced pretty fairly (the sunset super)! Their pancakes are usually pretty tasty and aren't dry at all which is something I find is a common problem at some breakfast places. The portion sizes are pretty good as well and the service is generally pleasant. Some of their specialty items can get a bit pricey, and the food is a typical breakfast that doesn't necessarily blow me away, but since it's always consistently decent I know I can always rely on it to fill my craving for a warm breakfast.

Honestly I used to love coming here but this will be my last visit. Super crowded, under staffed, and over priced. Forget about ordering sides...cheaper to order a whole new meal and doggybag the leftovers. $2.49 for a few slices of tomatoes?! $5.49 for side slices of bacon?? For those prices I expect basket of tomatoes and half a package of bacon!! The worst was being sprayed on my legs, arms and hands while drinking a ridiculously small cup of coffee by a staff member attempting to clean a table next to me. If my food was actually ready it too would have been doused in cleaner. If you are spraying diners you're likely not getting anything to clean tables on the actual table. Food is ok at best - lukewarm. For the price I've had more and better elsewhere. My waitress was lovely, but service doesn't outweigh the other negatives here. All in all don't waste your time or money.

big portions and its a busy place. Overall i suppose it was OK. I suppose the price was about average too. We were looking for a decent breakfast and other locations have provided this in the past but today, it just didnt come together. I would suppose there were not enough servers on staff during this holiday season, the eggs were overcooked, the toast was cold, and not enough butter, the home-fries were bland. I will give the another try later on, but this time it was a bit of a disappointment. The coffee was the best part of the meal.

Sunset grill is alright, breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day so my expectations are usually abit high for breakfast spots. Sunset grill is as tasteless as you can get. But their servers are good. I've come here a few times giving them the benefit of the doubt but the food hasn't been good any of the times.

Traditional breakfast spot. Has good omelettes & French toast/pancake options. Can get crowded on weekends, but what place isn't.

Had the three eggs (over easy) and sausages breakfast. It was okay. I would come back because it's a nice spot but the food was nothing i'd really come back for. The servers were quite nice though!

Walked in for a Valentine's Day brunch around 2:30. Honestly the food and coffee was really good. I got the waffles which is probably the best I've ever had (better than de metres)!! And their coffee is really good as well. My partner wasn't so thrilled with his food. He asked for well done eggs and found his yolk was still a it running. His French toast wasn't very French toast like - it looked more egg toast than sweet with cinnamon and nutmeg etc. He was also surprised the sunset special didn't come with toast as most places serve toast with plates containing eggs, sausage, home fries and add ons. Overall it is a good breakfast place.

The place was far from crowded when we showed up, and we were told to check out the menus and place our order at the front. We decided to share the House Special Sandwich ("Pork loin marinated with house special recipe, tomato, fried egg, cabbage and peanut butter") and the Malaysian Street Style sandwich ("4oz ground beef with a taste of M'sian spice, tomato, fried egg, lettuce and sweet & spicy sauce"). (I also got a milk tea to drink, and it was really good. Very rich but not too sweet.) The sandwiches were both excellent. They were packed with flavor and the various components all worked really well together. The Malaysian Street Style did flirt with being just a little too sweet, but it was balanced out with the other components. Everything was decently priced, too. The bill, with tip, came out to around 25 bucks, which is great considering the quantity and caliber of food we were given.

Mildred's has some of the best pancakes I have ever had. They were fluffy, flavorful and absolutely lived up to the hype. The mango mimosa was a little too sweet for my taste, but I would still love to come back and try more of their menu. The staff were friendly, although service was a bit slow to start. It took about 15 to 18 mins before I got water and was able to place my order. Overall, I can absolutely see why this place has such a great reputation. I waited over a decade to try it, and it was well worth the wait.

They had one guest with a child requiring a high chair. The high chair would have been in the way the aisle causing safety issues for staff and customers. They were then asked to move inside and seated beside us. The group was a gaggle of ladies, loud, obnoxious and rude. The oldest lady proceeded to berate the staff for saying the set up inside created the same situation and what was the difference. The high chair was next to an empty table out of the way of foot traffic. The table kept insisting what the difference was for the set up inside versus their preference for seating on the patio. My fiance then got up to the staff counter and explained we have witnessed the insulting be behaviour of the table and that the staff operated appropriately. As a result, we did not want to be seated next to the group and wished to be moved elsewhere if possible. The restaurant was busy and the staff tried to accommodate. Shortly after, the young female manager came out to the the disruptive table and calmly stated the restaurant would not tolerate their behave and asked them to leave. The table was incensed and continued to be loud and disruptive until their departure. My fiancé and I were so pleased and proud the staff stood their ground to not tolerate that rude and entitled behaviour. I was rather embarrassed for the table particularly given the age of the woman doing most of the yelling. The next table over of young people also came over to us and voiced their displeasure with the table between us, citing he too he is in the service industry and the staff did not deserve to be treated like that. On my first visit, I had a hot chai latte with espresso and it was absolutely delicious. The second time, I tried the iced pumpkin spice latte and didn't love it. The pumpkin spice syrup is homemade, which is nice, but the flavor fell a little flat and the large glass was mostly milk, which overpowered the drink. For food, I've tried the egg sandwich simple but good. The spinach feta croissant was heavy on the spinach, light on the cheese, and even though I asked for it warmed up, it was still cold in the middle. Their bowls are very fresh, but I found them a little under-seasoned and could've used more dressing or a sprinkle of seasoning to tie everything together. Overall, it's a cozy spot with an inviting vibe (I love their "stay awhile" sign on the wall). I think it really depends on what you order and your personal taste.
