Literal worst service ever. Waited 45 minutes after ordering before I just walked out. Had to flag down the waiter to ask about my food at one point and was told they were "workin on it" and then stopped him again when I said I had to leave because I was out of time he said "sounds good" Nobody in the whole restaurant had food. read more

Extremely trashy. Bar customers are intoxicated and pounding on the bar to the tune of the too-loud country music before noon. Food is really bad, even by bar standards. Drinks extremely bad too. Bar tender acts clueless to all that's happening around her. We will never waste our time or money on this place again. The worst "dive bar" in Minneapolis is less trashy than this bar, and less expensive, too. So sad to see the new owners brought it down like this. read more

The service was horrible from the bartender, waitress and the employee running the meat raffle. I can understand someone being busy but this place is ridiculous. The tables around us were also complaining. The food has gone downhill and we sat with empty drinks for over 30 minutes. Tried going here for Mother's Day brunch, got reservations. We got there 10 minutes early, so I expected a little bit of a wait. Went to the host stand to let them know we were there, and waited 5 minutes for anyone to come acknowledge us. Meanwhile, an elderly lady budded ahead of me, but I just let her. When the host finally came, he proceeded to inform the elderly lady he gave away her table to another party, because she was late for her reservation. She just said she understood and would wait for the next available table. When it was my turn, the host said they were super busy and there we 3 other tables booked for the same time. There wasn't really anywhere to sit in the front area to wait, so I just ok and told the host to give me a call when my table was ready. My party and I waited for 20 minutes, so I was worried they gave my table away, like they did for the elderly woman, because I wasn't physically waiting in the front area. I had my husband go in to check and he had to wait an additional 5 minutes for the host to return to the front. The host didn't even acknowledge him and called the name of the party that was listed after us, so my husband told him that wasn't fair and used a few words he shouldn't have. The host didn't apologize or explain anything, but immediately kicked us out for swearing at him. We're never coming back again! This place has much room for improvement! We were hoping to sit outside on the patio, but it wasn't even set up! Extremely disappointing Mother's Day for myself, my Mother and my party!! :( read more

First time and last time to visit. Horrible service, horrible customer service and food not so good either. Not busy when I was there on a Saturday evening at 6pm. Nothing went right. Manager surely did not seem to care although she did comp my food. She never came to my seat at the bar to apologize or to make things better. Food runner just sat food in front of me and walked away. She said nothing. Bartenders were not attentive. There were 5 of us at the bar and two bartenders. Steak ordered medium, came out rare. Sent back and came out well done. If you are hungry for mashed potatoes and they sound good. Surprise. Portion size could not get much smaller and not a nice texture. read more

Came in for lunch on a Friday around 12:30 and there was only 1 other table...Menu lacks any variety...The "So called flats" which are mix between fries and potato chips they are just awful...only giving 2 stars because our server was pretty good! read more

Awesome price for Wednesday wine! $3 for a Cabernet. However, the worst service I have had in a long time. Sat out on the patio with 3 coworkers. Ordered our drinks and didn't receive them for over 10 minutes. Then we all were looking at the menu clearly wanting to order- but by the time she came back to us we all knew our food would probably take over an hour to get it and she didn't even ask if we wanted to order..had to ask another server to get us another round. We stopped here on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn't very busy. I ordered the bourbon bacon burger and wanted it cooked medium, when I cut into the burger it was raw and cold !! I sent it back. I tried the ribs while I was there and there was no flavor to them at all. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because the waitress was polite and the fries were ok. read more

I do not like their "flat" potatoes. Had nice fish and didn't eat the potatoes as they are tough. Regular fries or wedge fries would be so much better. The drink had was supposed to be a vodka, soda with a touch of cran. The soda was totally flat and it was bright red. I mentioned the flat soda, however, it made no difference. read more

I thought the choices of sides were limited would like to see more choice i.e. maybe be able to order a baked potato instead of fries with dinner. Also I had the ribs they very tender but lacked some seasoning like maybe salt, pepper and garlic. Also a roll or bread of some type would be nice. First time there and happy with the food and the service. It was a busy Saturday night and we were lucky to get a booth. I ordered the Cod (blackened) with a dinner salad. Portions were generous. The cod was seasoned perfectly, the mashed baby reds were flavorful. The green beans were fresh. My friend has the Pub steak and was happy with the flavor and tenderness. On a Saturday night, Sunsets is more of a Sports bar than a sit down dinner restaurant. It was hard to have a conversation without having to strain to hear. Lots of laughter. Bingo was about to start and I knew that it was time to finish up our tasty dinner and leave. Next time we will try it a bit earlier than 6:30 pm. read more

They have done a great job remodeling. I ordered the prime rib. It was flavorless and the au just bland and greasy. Disappointing. Need to make an additional comment. When our bill was brought to the table we were charged for our meal AND another tables meal. read more

My husband and I have stopped by here two times...and both times were amazed by the food and prices. Last week, I had a chicken sandwich on wild rice bread, complete with bacon, cheese and some kind of sweet tasting sauce. My husband has had the best prime rib dinner and cod dinner. The food at the Sunset Grill is a great addition to an otherwise pretty boring area of food choices...either chains or bar food. And, they make great Ketel One cosmos too. They've done a great job gutting the place and redoing everything. The back deck facing the lake is great too. Service was wonderful and she gave feedback on food items. The food was good, but needs a little tweeking - most of our items were missing salt. The steak bites were delicious and tender - seasoning was good. The garlic toast that comes with it was not toasted and had no garlic flavor. The fish and chips were soggy and a little fishy, needed more seasoning too, but the fries were so delicious... like a thin and crispy steak fry. We didn't care for the tartar sauce though. Too much mayo, not enough relish. The ribs weren't bad, but needed more seasoning. Very tender and juicy though. Mashed potatoes were the one thing we couldn't eat. They were pasty and had no flavor. Plus there was a big puddle of margarine in the middle. Butter is always preferable and has better flavor, as margarine is very off-putting. The coleslaw, I will say, was delicious! Just needed more salt. All in all, it was good but we will probably wait to go back for food until it is perfected since they just opened and are working out the kinks. But as for service and ambience, they couldn't have done better! read more

had dinner at Sunset Grill on Mon Aug 20 around 5:45pm. Not busy at all. Jenna our waitress was NOT friendly at all. Ignored our son when he talked to her and she heard him, just chose not to answer him. Did not say hi when she came up to our table not even a smile. Just a bad waitress! I order the fried chicken, rather tasteless in fact threw up when I got home. Husband ordered the fried fish with coleslaw. Fish was ok but the coleslaw rocked. Wow! Amazing burgers tonight! Chicken tenders were perfection! As long as they keep the food the same we will be back! Good service, clean establishment!
