We picked this location because it was walking distance from our hotel (I went in early 2020 before Covid-19) and enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait, but because it was cool outside we got cocktails and sat outside to wait on the patio (most Floridians were not willing to be outside). I ordered the Chicken Parmesan for dinner and thought it was quite tasty, my friend's seafood dish was even better but I wasn't super in the mood for seafood. My margarita was tasty, and my slice of the key lime pie even better. This place was right across the street from where we were staying at the Hampton inn! Their menu was perfect for the beach. We started with the spinach & crab dip and it was really good. We ate the whole thing. My bf got the Mexican rice bowl and he absolutely loved it. The fish tacos were just ok. The fries weren't anything too special. We sat upstairs which had a nice breeze. The staff was good and our waiter was excellent. I dont know that i would go out of my way to come back here but if you're staying at the Hampton inn i would recommend for lunch or dinner. read more

We are a late lunch here after riding the trolley all day. I chose coconut shrimp and they are made fresh and not frozen. They are long prawn type of shrimp not butterflies. They came with a delicious sauce. Fresh shrimp tastes better here than in the Midwest. My side was a house salad with mixed greens, Mandarin oranges and key lime vinnegrette. Ordered the chicken and waffles and Diablo dip! Chicken and waffles were yum, not too spicy and had a delicious Belgian style waffle. Side salad with key lime vinaigrette was worth going out of my comfort zone. Diablo dip nice and creamy. Had a late lunch here today with my husband after a day at the beach. It's a nice beach style restaurant located on A1A in Saint Augustine. They have a few tables outside and some booths in the bar area. They also have seating on the second floor of the restaurant but unfortunately they weren't open. I was kind of bummed because I was looking forward to dining outside. The menu is pretty diverse and offers something for every taste. We started with a bowl of the New England clam chowder and it was amazing. I can see why it has won several awards. It was so creamy and seasoned perfectly. It was loaded with fresh clams. No skimping there. Lol. It was one of the best I've had. Hubby had the cheeseburger and he said it was delicious. I decided on the Ahi Tuna tacos. The tuna itself was great but was overpowered by the sauce. It was way too wet and made the tortilla soggy. This made it difficult to eat with your hands without making a mess. The slaw that topped the taco didn't have much flavor. I found it very bland and it had too much soy sauce. I would recommend grilling the soft shell and cutting back on the sauce. I wasn't a fan of this dish but everything else was great. The service was very good and I would return just for their clam chowder. Yes, it was that good. They do not have a gluten free menu. They can work with you. They don't have a problem doing it either. I had a hamburger with no bun and a salad with Key Lime dressing. All was good. Food was cooked correctly and the temperature was great. My wife had some mixed calm chowder. It was very good and it was hot. The server was helpful and friendly. A good experience. Good little restaurant. Very good, but not quite perfect. We ate here twice on our visit to Saint Augustine, and enjoyed it both times, with varying results. The fried pickle appetizer with Datil Pepper ranch was very good, and a good portion for two. The Ranch wasn't as spicy as I would have liked, but my girlfriend, who doesn't like spice wasn't phased. Honestly it tasted like regular ranch to me ‍ I had the peel and eat shrimp. They were very large, but not quite as fresh or as cold as I'd have liked to seen. Too much time in water seems to have caused them to go a little mushy, but the taste was still there. Cocktail sauce by the bottle on request. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich. She loved the fries (they were quite good. Crispy, golden. Would pair perfectly with fish). Her chicken was a little dry. On our second visit I had the coconut shrimp, which were on point! Sauce was creamy and sweet, shrimp were a good size, flaky golden coconut crust. She had the burger, which she enjoyed. Nothing fancy, just a good burger. Wait staff both nights were friendly young men who checked in fairly frequently and were ready with whatever we needed. I like the beach atmosphere, and the option to walk right in and seat yourself. One sticky point. So much of there food is served on a big plate of... chopped cabbage!? Why? It seems like an awful waste of a kind of smelly food that I'm not even going to eat. Raw cabbage!? I'll never understand. But hey, if you like chewing raw cabbage, or have a rabbit or something, bonus I guess? read more

Best and only place I know of to get trigger fish. I'm not sure about the rest of the menu, but the blackened trigger fish is amazing. Someday, I will have to try something else in the menu. Dined here over Father's Day weekend. The wait was not to bad at all only about 15-20 minutes. The appetizer we ordered was the mahi fish spread and it was delicious. The only thing that caught me off guard about it was the crackers it was served with, they were literally crackers from a box, still wrapped in plastic. My dinner was excellent, we had the grilled salmon which was great along with the trigger fish combo. All was cooked well and tasted great. Came into town for just one night and choose Sunset Grille for dinner. We were not disappointed. Ambiance is your usual seaside restaurant. It was clean and not too crowded for 4pm. We sat on the second floor all the way in the corner. A tad warm in that area, but it wasn't too bad. Drinks were ordered. Lemonades for the kids, sweet tea for me, and a water and strawberry margarita for the SO. Kids' food was ordered; nothing special, just pasta and sauce. I had the fiesta bowl with grilled fish and SO had grilled salmon on a Caesar salad. I also had the conch soup. Everything was delicious and the wait was hardly noticeable. Dishes had good presentation and the fish was nicely seasoned. The conch chowder was a tomato base, but definitely had a kick of heat. Very tasty. Our waitress was very attentive. Repeatedly asked if there was anything we need as well as if everything was to our liking, which it was. Portions were almost too much, but the food tasted good so the adults finished their plates. WHAT a find! Location is perfect! We sat inside, but there is plenty of airy, open seating downstairs and upstairs. It IS a block from the beach! Casey was on her A game! Attentive and fast. Amazing menu and hard to choose from the extensive offerings that included fresh local catch. Got there for Happy Hour and ordered the apps. WOOSH...they were there. We enjoyed the Fish Bites with housemade tartar sauce and the Dang Datil Shrimp with the special sauce. Oh My Fish.....Just the best. As far as the food goes - outstanding. I had the coconut shrimp with slaw and fries. The pina colada dipping sauce was a perfect compliment to the crunchy shrimp. And the cole slaw was the best I ever tasted. My husband enjoyed the blackened seafood combo. The highlight of the meal was the key lime pie we had for dessert. Beautifully arranged on the plate, the tangy lime cream base of the pie was perfectly paired with a delicious cookie crust and whipped cream. The service is another matter. We use to absolutely love this restaurant and would frequent weekly with the family. The past 6-12 months have been very bumpy to say the least. The front hostess staff needs an attitude adjustment - they are young kids, so rude and dismissive that it just sealed our decision to walk out. The restaurant is not as clean as in use to be- outside tables left dirty for quite some time. The nail in the coffin for us was the awful hostess that told us "wait outside for a table, it's first come first serve" and than proceeded to say to the other rude hostess "omg I love this song!" I know it is slim pickins right now for good employees but when your first intro to a restaurant is a super rude hostess- you turn around and never look back. Too many other choices in town with super happy staff. I will say that the Diner next door (owned by the same family) is absolutely fabulous with tremendous staff. I just can't understand why there is such a disconnect with the quality of employees between "same ownership" restaurants. read more
