I contacted Mid Valley Drain, as well as a few other companies, about getting a quote. James immediately answered the phone and said he could be out first thing the next morning. He showed up on time and by that afternoon I had a detailed quote with multiple options, all broken down by parts and price. Not only was I impressed by the detailed quote, I was very impressed by the price. The next morning James and his team were hard at work trenching my backyard. He had a team of 3 and they worked from 8 AM to 6 PM non-stop. Beyond that they seemed most knowledgeable of all the companies, and above board. Some of the companies suggested things that didn't need to be done (such as drilling a vent through the wall instead of pulling the air inside the large garage), or shady things like not pulling permits. The company I used for my Air Conditioner misdiagnosed what was wrong. Mr Freeze determined the correct solution and told me what I needed to tell the other HVAC company to fix it (it was under warranty by them). They didn't believe me, and wanted to do their own diagnostics, which ended up shorting out the furnace. It ended up Mr. Freeze was correct. They were also very friendly and prompt. I don't see myself ever using someone else again.

It was 100+ degrees every day, so we needed someone fast. Lucky for us, we called Focus. They are a local company and were able to come over after hours for an additional fee. Within 2 hours, John was working on the heat pump. Not only was he a pleasant man to deal with, he was knowledgeable, showed me exactly what was wrong and what he was doing, and he did so quickly and efficiently. The office staff was great, too. I hired Focus Heating and Cooling to install my system. Their installation later caused water…read moredamage to my garage ceiling when the drain was not properly secured. Focus acknowledged that the damage was their responsibility. I have now waited more than a year for them to make the repairs. During that time, I even offered a simple resolution: repair and retape the damaged joints, paint the affected area, and let's move on. That didn't happen. Instead, I received cookies and a letter of apology. Cookies don't repair a damaged ceiling. What I wanted was simple: send a technician to inspect the cooling system as I was told would happen, and send someone qualified to repair the damage caused by the installation. If you're charging me $20 a month for services, then provide the services I'm paying for. At this point, my previous offer to simply retape the damaged joints is off the table. I want the full extent of the water damage properly evaluated and repaired, including damaged sheetrock and insulation and an inspection for any moisture or mold issues that may have developed after sitting this long. Focus has had more than a year to resolve this. And to other homeowners: don't make the mistake I made by being patient and giving a contractor seemingly endless time to make something right. Oregon has deadlines for pursuing contractor complaints. Document everything, keep your emails and photographs, and contact the Oregon Construction Contractors Board promptly if a contractor damages your property and doesn't resolve it. I gave Focus Heating and Cooling plenty of time and an easy opportunity to make this right. I didn't need cookies. I needed them to fix what they damaged.
