This long standing event is getting bigger and bigger. Most locals who live walking distance or very nearby know the best tricks of the trade....its to go early before the larger crowds show up! Parking is a challenge downtown on Thursday. I tend to like the farmers market a bit more than the sunset market. This last visit I had a strained ankle and had to wear my support brace so walking around was a challenge. I'd say the crowd is a pro and a con equally. It's great for the food and merch venue pop-up businesses but when people clearly see you and they bump into you anyway. This makes me feel unsafe and like they are doing this "accidentally on purpose" Especially when these people don't have any purchases in their hands. There is so much to see and experience here it can make you feel enticed, awestruck, and overwhelmed all at the same time. Come hungry as there are food options from all around the world! Lots of souvenirs type stuff for sale...for the vacationers and or the locals acting like tourists. Like we do :-)

I love the variety of food available and all the interesting vendors. People are very friendly and it's nice to check out the sunset, hear some live music and try new food. I always look for the booths with the longest lines. Then get yourself a drink at one of the local bars. Boom . Perfect night!

Summary: Worth Going If you want to see a large variety of food for a night market this is the place to go. Being a foodie the only regret is that I don't have enough space in my tummy to try all the different food. From raw oysters to legit BBQ brisket I was in food heaven. This place does get crowded so recommend coming early as possible. Some favorites was banana bread pudding, brisket, and skewers of picanha. Parking is relative easy to find but you can easily take the Amtrak directly to Oceanside train station. My suggestion is grab some food and go to the beach and catch a Sunset. Definitely would come back again

This is a MASSIVE farmers market that is from 5 to 9 every Thursday. It closes down multiple streets to accommodate the sheer volume of vendors and booths. It takes a solid 15 minutes just to walk from one end to the other. There is everything from foodstuffs to dog treats to clothing to chiropractic. Just remember to bring your bug spray and comfortable shoes. The location is fairly close to the beach, and the balmy ocean breeze is perfect even later into the evening. You might need a light jacket, but I run cooler and was very comfortable with pants and a loose shirt. Fair warning: There are a LOT of people. There are crowds everywhere, and it can be difficult to maneuver yourself through the throngs of people. If you have sensory issues of any kind, bring noise canceling headphones. It can get noisy, crowded, and very busy with long lines for certain booths. I've come here twice now, and I'm super happy! They do rotate some of the booths, so I didn't see some that I had visited the first time. So if you're on the fence about trying certain foods, I'd do it if you won't be back soon! The last time my boyfriend and I went here, we had filipino and kenyan food, as well as macarons and a cane sugar drink.

This is the biggest, unlike your yacto, market I've ever attended. There were so many vendors so the food options were endless. I wish you could drink a beer or two while browsing legally. It was so crowded as well. Way too many folks for a thursdeee afternoon.

Don't forget to enjoy the sunset !

Love the sunset market. So many things. Always something new. We tried the Thai burger truck. It was soo good! And then finished at an orange colored fun truck (can't remember the name) with a pineapple and strawberry slushy thing with added rockstar. Soo yummm. Not too busy for faster service if you get there before dark. Crowed but safe and lots to see and experience here! They don't call it sunset market for no reason! Every Thursday

delicious pierogies and stuffed cabbage from these folks

OH BOY! Came here one Thursday evening and was way overwhelmed. I figured it would be a pretty big event but wasn't prepared for a giant crowd and a chaotic circus atmosphere and so many vendors that it was tough to make a choice of what to eat if you had to decide on dinner from only one place. There was a band playing that night - School Of Rock - playing lots of classic rock standards that were much older than they seemed to be. There really wasn't much as far as tables and places to sit down that could accommodate a crowd like this but anywhere there was a curb was a good enough place to sit and eat. Ended up getting pierogies and stuffed cabbage from a Polish vendor called Taste Of Poland. Parking was a bit of a challenge - there's free parking in a P5 public parking structure near the Oceanside Transportation Center but everyone else also knows that so I had to circle a few times on the top floor until I was lucky enough to catch someone leaving. Will probably do it again sometime soon. This is not actually the same thing as the Oceanside Farmers Market - that happens earlier in the day on Thursdays - this is more a night market. You also might want to check their website before going if you're coming from further away - they have cancelled before due to weather.

Thai food was WAY TOO SPICY

This market is a total madhouse tonight on 7/27/23 and it's wall to wall people that are like road blocks. It's wayyyyy too crowded! The Thai food booth is 5 stars and so is the ceviche booth

Never again in the Summer. Shuffling feet the entire time and no parking. AVOID.

Usually a great place to visit. Downtown Oceanside has come a long way and we frequent this market. However, don't go in the summer months. It's NOT enjoyable. I give it a 4 star because we do enjoy the food variety and live music. Proximity to the ocean is a bonus. Again, don't go in the summer unless you like to torture yourself.

Accessibility: there isn't much parking for anyone available anywhere. There is a free parking garage a block or two away but not many accessible spots available there, so no matter where you park to come here, you will have to travel a good distance to get to the market. At the market there are almost no places to sit down or tables to eat at if you need, and it was packed shoulder to shoulder. Experience: I used to come to this market every Thursday Pre-COVID and yesterday was my first day back since COVID. It was way too packed and almost no one was wearing masks. They sell food and items here but the prices have raised a TON so shopping here is no cheaper than shopping at the vendor's regular store if they have one (not all the vendors do). I only bought one small item for my dog because everything else was expensive. I also bought tacos that were $30. Yikes. This market definitely isn't what it used to be.

Contacted VGE where they sell popusas and have aguas frescas

This was my second time here, and I love everything about this place. First of all, kudos to the bartender--I forgot her name, but she was incredibly generous and kind. She accidentally forgot my drink and kept apologizing, but I told her it was totally fine since we had a large party. To make up for it, she gave me two shots instead of one and even added a big discount. The ambiance of this place is unique and very artsy. If you're looking for a cool, one-of-a-kind spot to hang out, this is it. There's so much attention to detail throughout--even the restroom door is thoughtfully designed with a modern, creative touch. My friend ordered a variety of cocktails, and everyone enjoyed them. The food was great as well. I ordered the hummus plate, and it was the best I've ever had--so fresh and served in a generous portion. My friends tried the pizza and a few other items from the menu, and everything got a thumbs up. If you're in the area looking for a cool place to hang out or planning a party, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back again soon.

First off, they have a "wait to be seated" sign at their entrance, but it took a while to get anyone to seat us. When we were inside, we noticed there was another entrance and people were just walking in, so "waiting to be seated" was just an option? We ordered a beer and seltzer and it took easily 10-15 minutes to get our drinks. Drinks that were in cans by the way. Music was good, DJs were good, but the whole vibe of the place is kinda everywhere. This lighting in this place needs to be more dimmed. DJs are spinning right in the middle of the room, and there's a clothes rack just chilling against the wall. The baristas are way in the back, and you can't really tell who works there. It took equally as long to get the check as it did to get my drinks. We only had 1 round of drinks. I dunno, waiting for canned drinks just threw me off. I can't imagine how much longer it would have taken to get a mixed cocktail. I only saw one guy mixing drinks and a bunch of women just hanging around. I'm assuming workers that look like they don't work there.

We settled on Oceanside in hopes of finding good food, as our weekend (end of Feb) had been full of a poor results. This place came up as very well rated on Yelp, as my friend and I searched for places to eat. It was a Saturday night with great weather. The red flag I should have read into was that the lone guy working that night was a one man show. He was doing it all in the front of the house. I tried to get us a table to sit outdoors but he just couldn't get to the table to clean it. After about 20 minutes he finally came and just moved all the bowls to the empty table next to it and wiped it down. When my friends finally arrived we all sat down to sticky menus that had NO descriptions. What you see on the website is exactly what they have on the menu. We had to wait to ask the server/host what each menu item meant. It took a while to get our food from when we ordered. Thank goodness for good company, I didn't clock it. The food options were limited and keep in mind for those who have children, most of the options come with a spicy kick, you'll have to explicitly tell them "no spicy"! There was a party who had been sitting for a while before we got there and a kiddo took a bite of pizza and was crying, screaming from it being so spicy. With my ramen the portions are tiny for what you pay, with 1 piece of meat, not enough noodles. Flavor wise it was spicy and bland. We ordered a couple appetizers which were not very good. The edamame was overly salty and soaked in soy sauce and the karaage was probably the only good thing and that was a little overfried. No one in our party finished our food or took any of the leftovers home. Save yourself the trip, not worth trying the "unique foods".
