Hubby and I wanted to eat Italian food while we were camping at Bolsa Chica State Beach. I'm so glad we found Sunset Pizza and Pasta! The food is fantastic! I had Spinach Penne and it was delicious! I would not recommend sitting and eating there during a busy dinner or lunch time because space is minimal. Great for takeout! I got the chicken lasagna which was amazing. We ordered a to go pizza and pasta. It came with bread which was a bonus we didn't know we needed plus the girls working gave us ample Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. The margarita pizza was literally insane and I want to live there for it. We got a pasta and we didn't love it as much just because of the way the sauce sat on top so we didn't have any flavor except there and mixing wasn't super easy in the box. They gave us an exact estimate for how long it would take for the food and it was accurate!!! The taste was heavenly. I can't wait to pickup some sauce and bread for a pasta meal at home. I had the Linguini Putanesca and my wife had Gnocchi Arrabiata. Both dishes were excellent. Bread is made in-house and was awesome. Add a carafe of red and we had a nice dinner followed by a walk on nearby Sunset Beach. Service was very attentive, all questions were answered, recommendations were made, and we would most definitely return to eat. I was looking for a surprise spot to take my boyfriend. He loves pizza and thought this was the perfect spot. When we came in, we were immediately seated and offered the menus. The man that attended us was really nice and patient. He told us to take our time and was very welcoming. We ordered the caprese salad, beef lasagna and he ordered chicken Parmesan I believe. He was mind blown. The lasagna was not too heavy, which is what I liked the most. The starter bread was DELICIOUS! We ordered seconds and also took the marinara and Alfredo sauce to go with it. We ordered pizza from Sunset Pizza to take out on our Duffy Boat ride and I will say this was some of the best pizza I think I've had in a while. The crust was perfect! Crispy and had a great flavor. The pizza sauce was homemade and not from a jar. We ordered a pepperoni and pineapple and a pepperoni and sausage pizza and two side salads and everything was "just right". I've been coming here since 2016 and the food has never not been a 10/10 the chef who i believe owns the place has always been there working so hard and it truly shows in every meal he serves. The restaurant itself is alittle small so i wish they'd utilize the parking area for outdoor seating since there's a bunch of beach parking surrounding the place as well, they deserve the foot traffic that it would possibly bring.! Even with the smaller inside area i've never not enjoyed my seating an arrangement or the amazing service the servers provide if you're ever in the area or just enjoying a beach day STOP BY HERE.!! we've tried almost everything on the menu and have never had a complaint i couldn't love this place more i quite literally always crave their tortellini lol. Shared the calamari, which is fried crispy with some wonderful marinara sauce. Tender, well cooked, and just great! Daughter and husband shared the lemon chicken, which is their favorite dish. We had the eggplant parm, which was fantastic! The eggplant was sliced thin, lightly fried, and covered with their most delicious marinara sauce and cheese! We also all shared the Caesar salad. Love their Caesar dressing and the salad was crisp and had big croutons throughout. A very friendly and nice Mom and Pop run this place and work hard to give you as close to a home cooked meal as possible. They deserve your business. This is not a corporate chain with managers that come and go, take sick and vacation days, and slave drive their employees. I got the Chicken Parm Sandwich (comes with a Salad) for $11.00. The Sandwich was very good, large filling portion (and I eat a ton), and prepared the way I would make it if I made it at home--it's like home cooking! The Salad was out of the bag with tomatoes added, but the Italian dressing was delicious. One Caution: They put Olives on the salad--I HATE Olives--they color the taste of the salad so I picked them off. Make sure to tell them NO OLIVES if you don't like them. There should be a law against putting Olives on a salad--in fact--just ban them entirely. Definitely come here and try out the food if you have not been. Great value. read more

Their house made focaccia is 5 stars, some of the best I have tried. We have visited twice. They bring in fresh made pasta and make their pizza and sauces from scratch. 4 stars house salad, fresh and simple 2 stars Antipasto salad, not impressed 4 stars manicotti with meat sauce (small portion $17) 3 stars pizza If I stopped in again would get the house salad and manicotti...and some of that delicious focaccia bread. The owners are not Italian, but the husband is a chef and the wife is so kind and waits on tables. I think she mentioned they have owned this restaurant for about 18 years. The staff here make you feel incredibly welcomed and are all extremely kind and helpful. A lovely woman helped me over the phone and didn't get frustrated with me over deciding what toppings I wanted. And once we arrived there , it felt like I had just walked into someone's home. It was worth ever naughty calorie! My daughter and I had salad and individual pizzas. The small salad was plenty for the two of us. The doughy, cheesy pizzas were fresh, and piping hot out of the oven. My husband had the Pollo ala Rustica...he isn't much of a cheese man and this dish hit every mark and took my innocence as well!!! The chicken was served in a unbelievable savory blend of tomatoes, bell peppers, Kalmata olives, capers and herbs on top of a bed of perfectly cooked linguini. The aromas from his plate danced exquisitely over his food and I couldn't control myself..all Impulse control gone. Booom! Soo good!
