Came here to take my parents out for their anniversary. They wanted seafood and I've always been wanting to try this place out. Just to be safe, I made a reservation because the restaurant isn't huge and it was around Valentine's Day. Even with a reservation, we still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. There is no space to wait inside so we were kind of squished by the entrance. We didn't want to get in anyone's way or in people's personal space. When we were seated, it was very close to other people. Even though my jacket was hung behind my chair, people grazed up real close to get by. My back was to the aisle so a lot of people by the bar and servers were constantly grazing. But not their fault. The food was very good. Expensive for very small portions, though. Drinks were made just right, and the service was great. We had an attentive and knowledgeable server and wait time for food was reasonable. Here's what we ordered: - Drunk mussels: bacon, gorgonzola, beer & wine - Thai Calamari: Sweet Thai Chili Sauce - White cosmo: vodka, St. Germain elderflower, white cranberry juice, fresh lime - Jumbo Lump Crab Cake: Roasted red pepper remoulade - marinated skirt steak: mashed potatoes & baby spinach - Chilean Sea Bass: black rice, julienne vegetables, tequila lime sauce - Grilled Atlantic Salmon: Julienne vegetables, sweet teriyaki glaze - Pignoli Nut Crusted Red Snapper: roasted garlic cous cous, pineapple salsa The food was very good. Wish there were more portions for the cost. It's a good place for special occasions. I will be back to try other food on the menu.

Bliss is good for a cozy meal of appetizers and eats. It pulls a local crowd that seem to be regulars, so it can be hard to get a table last minute. It's a local establishment that has been around for years.

There aren't enough stars to describe the awesome experience my husband and I had here last week for date night. I kept hearing great things so we decided to try it out and it definitely lives up to the hype. The owner Ron is the sweetest person ever. He was so excited to meet his new customers and was so hands on with his staff the entire night. You really never see that anymore. Even when we paid our bill he offered us after dinner drinks on him! It is clear that he cares about each and every customer that comes in as well as his entire staff. They had live music playing. As we all know live music can either add to the experience or ruin it. In this case it was fantastic and only enhanced our awesome meal. The musician sang and played the guitar and knew what he was doing. We sat right next to him and weren't bothered by the volume at all either. We had made prior reservations and even though the place was completely packed they had our table waiting for us and we didn't have to wait at all. The bread is to die for. Clearly home made and served with the most delicious hummus! We ordered the thai calamari to share which was perfectly crisp, the right amount of sauce and so good! The burger was cooked exactly the way we asked and the short rib was perfection! We will for sure be regulars. They earned our business!! At a time where everything seems to be crazy expensive, we felt like we were getting away with something when we got our bill because it was so affordable. Very refreshing experience! They ALSO had a handicapped ramp so it is easily accessible to everyone. (I loved to see that!)

Our first visit to Bliss restaurant! We had the drunken mussels as an appetizer which we forgot to take a picture of but the sauce they were made in which had wine bacon and blue cheese was to die for! The portion was very small for the price but the tastiness of the sauce kept me from complaining also quite a few empty shells, which I was not happy about! My granddaughter had penne alla vodka, which she loved as I tasted it also it was good! My daughter had the short ribs, which had one very tender piece and two tougher pieces, but tasty! I had the skirt steak served with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes, which was very good! They serve fresh baked bread when you get there with a very delicious serving of hummus! Very nice place a little small but good food and service!

I came here on a double date, with my girlfriends sister and husband and was very pleased & surprised with this restaurant. Hospitality was A1 and the service was amazing. Started off with the calamari and the meatball sliders and everything was very good. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the meatball sliders were good. Sauce on the meatballs had a nice sweet and savory sauce and the service was excellent. I wish I remember my hostess name, but she was great. I had the bliss burger which was a home run and my girlfriend got Bolognese with meat sauce that was great. My GF sister got the some type of fish dinner which she loved and her husband had the bolognese. The decor in this place is very nice and inviting and the entire staff is very welcoming and sweet. I'll definitely will come back and try other things on the menu. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a new place to eat on the island or something different in East Setauket.

My wife and I met friends for an after work dinner. We arrived at our reservation time and were promptly seated. We had a corner table on the outside deck. Shortly after our entire party arrived, our waitress came to the table to take drink orders. Since one of our colleagues had been to The restaurant before she made ordering easy. The appetizers arrived promptly and we all shared. I throughly enjoyed the meatball sliders and the lightly seasoned, Asian wings. The meatballs were made with a mixture of veal, beef and pork bathed in a light marinara sauce. They were delicious. The Asian wings had a slight zing, just enough for me. This appetizer was equally as delicious. Just an aside, the bread brought to the table is made in house and very tasty. The entrees arrived nice and hot. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese. A bit disappointing. Not because the entree was not tasty, it is more because, I am not accustomed to the way the bolognese sauce was made. As I said, it was tasty but it may take getting used to. For desert, I ordered an apple crisp and a cappuccino. The cappuccino was good, regrettably, the apple crisp was not. To drink, I recommended a delightful red wine for the table: Elsa Bianchi Malbec from San Rafael Mendoza, Argentina. It was very good. The Takeaways: 1. Ample parking 2. Outside dining with limited tables 3. Excellent staff 4. Good food to price ratio 5. Extensive wine list 6. Food is good but may not be to everyone's taste.

    Chicken and Chorizo Paella Plate

I'll start off by saying food is AMAZING and reasonably price, the bread is soft and our family loved the pesto hummus used. For tonight's dinner I ordered the S'mores Martini which is excellent and very tasty with solid presentation, I also enjoyed very much the Chicken and Chorizo Paella which was better than I expected and very filling, for desert I had the crème brûlée which was a nice portion for after having big meal and covered with powdered sugar and blueberries. I appetizers we ordered also didn't disappoint I also want to give a shoutout to the servers here since they are very attentive and my family appreciates the white table cloths, quick replacement of utensils after appetizers and the quick refilling of water. It's basically fine dining at a reasonable price and with great food and service. Looking forward to going back and hope the quality we expect remains. PS. Also just one complaint and an observation for some reason when the musics playing sometimes the bass is incredibly overpowering and other times it quiets way down which is a bit odd and sometimes jarring to the ears, I hope this is an easy fix, also just be aware that when this place is busy it gets very loud considering your quite close in proximity to other guests but these minor quibbles I have are nothing when the overall experience is great but wanted to mention them regardless.

Popped into this lovey, wood polished establishment for lunch and ordered up crispy juicy coconut shrimp app along with a bowl of lobster bisque soup to start. The soup was creamy and delicious with big lobster chunks, not having to hunt for it or just tasting seafood broth here ;) Both came out quick and were on point. Personally followed that up with a hot a buttery lobster roll. It was fresh and juicy even before adding a bit more butter. They serve it up on a proper roll that was slightly toasted but soft with each bite. My Mr had two of the juiciest lobster tails with cole slaw and a garden salad. Sadly couldn't stay to try out a dessert since we had the baby wanting their liquid lunch too, but know the wait staff was super sweet and quick getting all that was needed and asked for super timely. *Noted: Street and municipal parking lot available. By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. As always with local restauranteurs little to no attention paid to the noise level. My ears were bleeding throughout dinner. The restaurant needs decor which creates a warmer inviting presence. Our food was delicious but the wait time for the meals and drinks was insufferable. BTW, the wait time for the check was equally as painful. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

I tried meals here on three separate occasions, twice on weekends and once during the week. My review depicts the summary of my experiences. Set back in a shopping center, the size of the restaurant is deceiving. The venue is tremendous, and the decor and bar present a welcoming environment. On all occasions, I was greeted right away and walked to my table. On one particular evening, we were seated in the back room. The first thing I noticed were how quickly the food runners were moving through the dining space. There seemed to be an urgency about their movement. The appetizers I've enjoyed were the duck arancini, mushrooms, and the oysters. All served hot, fresh, and the seasoning was on-point. The oysters came with a mini Tabasco sauce bottle and cocktail sauce. I was less enthralled by their entrees, a pattern that was sadly not a one-off or "bad night" for me. The beef Wellington was served well done, even though medium-rare was ordered. On another occasion, I ordered the surf and turf; the filet came out well done instead of medium-rare, and the lobster was rubbery and overly salted. It was served without drawn butter. They cooked another steak for me, but it came out medium (still incorrect) and had no seasoning whatsoever. A bland and tasteless filet after previously eating an underwhelming overcooked beef Wellington was enough for me to deduce that, after two visits, incorrectly cooking steak was not a mistake, but a pattern. Our table was cleared of appetizer plates and utensils, but no new utensils were provided. Our entrees were served shortly thereafter, and began to get cold as we waited for someone to come over and bring us forks and knives. We waited and asked three different people before finally getting some. All of us ordered some type of cocktail or wine with our meals, yet still drank water, and our water glasses were not refilled once during any of my visits. The staff running all over to collect dirty dishes were out of sync with the servers and the kitchen, and unable to get a pulse on the diners. I did not see a manager or any type of supervisor circulating, but these are fixes that can be easily made with proper oversight. Runners were aimlessly running back and forth and just grabbing whatever dishes were done. Their timing was way off. I really wanted to like this place and include it in my regular rotation. I thought with time they would get the rhythm of the dining room down, but I spaced my visits months apart and not much changed. I wish them well, but it will be a pass from me going forward.

I got the replacement burger & fries and they were good - no problems this time. The burger and fries are more than enough for one person (in fact, the two of us split them and still had some leftover fries). Also, as a bonus, they gave us a brussel sprout & bacon side dish. Even though it was sweeter than we normally like, it was very good. In summary this was a big improvement over our earlier experience and we thank Culpers 1778 for giving us the opportunity to try them again.

The restaurant was packed, but people were also finishing up their meals so we gave it a shot. We were able to sit outside and the outside dining area was set up really nice and comfortable with bistro lighting and even some potted palm trees. Felt more like San Diego than Port Jefferson. Inside was also tastefully done up in the nautical theme which is good to know if it's a rainy day or in the colder weather. I've read some reviews about the service and we had the exact opposite with super attentive service. Our server, Brianna came over right away and took our order in no time. I mentioned doing a dish gluten free and she asked if I had celiac. She went above and beyond making sure that my meal would be safe to eat and offered substitutions so there would be no cross contamination. I've had the condition for 18 years so I know pretty well what I can tolerate and that most places let you down and I just deal with it. That wasn't the case at all here and Brianna made sure of it. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and this was one of the best versions I ever had. Like in the top 3 really and one the other two was home made. It was that good. I had plenty of carrots and celery to nosh on with the dip and they kept the bread on a separate plate altogether. Like I said, they really understood my condition I also had bariatric surgery back in the winter and I'm slowly venturing out in the world of solid food. So I picked the surf and turf steak and lobster sandwich. I figured I know I can handle steak if done right and I wouldn't be too bummed if I couldn't tolerate the lobster. Brianna had it served to me on a really good gluten free bun. This sandwich really worked out so much better than I thought it would. The steak was exactly to order and the lobster was super tender. I was only able to have maybe a fifth to a quarter of it. That's equally because that's all I can physically have these days and because the sandwich was beyond huge. The rest of the family's choices were home runs too and included a killer wedge salad, a perfectly cooked burger and salmon. Those were devoured so no complaints with those as well. It should be noted by the reactions by everyone at the adjacent tables were having a very similar experience and it was just a really enjoyable time. Our family is getting older (aren't we all), so diners and moments like this are so special. Castaways definitely held up its end of the bargain. I'm so glad we stopped in, and I can't wait to stop back the next time we're down port.
